Does the Kaiser support MicroSDHC memory cards? They seem to be cheaper and available in larger storage capacity than MicroSD, at least here in Finland.

what about att tilt rom'ed devices? i have a 2GB microsd, and was wondering about the max recognizable...
with stock tilt rom I believe 8gb is maximum
I believe the tilt has the same max storage and the HTC TYTN II its 32GB I dont think they limited the storage capacity for the tilt its hardware spacific not software spacific.

According to HTC, 32gb is the max regardless of ROM.

does it lag or what?
Even though they aren't on the market, AT&T claims the tilt or the Kaiser will support up to a 32 GB microSD card. I'm not so sure if I believe this.
I am looking to upgrade from my 1GB to a 4 or 6 GB card. Has anyone tried a 6 GB card? If so, success / failure ?

Works good here.. One odd issue was that I had to use the included MicroSD adapter stick. I tried another one that was a little older and it reported the media as write-protected. Maybe because it's the super high capacity?

isn't there an issue with the sandisc cards with getting them in and out of the slot and ill fitting or something?
I am using a SanDisk 6gb sdhc card in my kaiser with no issues on insert/remove or the storage side of things. In the UK carphone warehouse have them in stock in their high street shops. I paid £49.99 which was about a tenner over the net price but as we were in the middle of a postal strike at the time I didn't really mind!
Using a 6GB ScanDisc no problems what soever.

I am thinking about getting a 6Gb microSDHC
Got a 6Gb in since Saturday. Works a treat.
32gb max even though it is not available yet.
Essentially, ANY SDHC card available as of today will work in the Kaiser.
Sweet, god this fone roxs, so pleased i didnt get the limited iphone!
I asked HTC about this when I first bought my Kaiser. They told me it would support up to a 4GB micro SDHC. There have been other posts with people who have successfully installed a 6GB card but have found problems when trying to access files and the phone has locked up, so beware.

I think most of that has to do with crappy quality SD cards.
I've never had a problem with any Sandisk card I've had. 1,2, and 4 GB
The reason for HTCs ascertion is simple. At the time of production of the Kaiser the largest SDHC microSD card available was a 4GB card. Therefore, they could only certify that it worked with 4GB cards at that time. And, as far as persons having issues with their phones locking up while trying to read from a 6GB card, I would venture that no matter which card that person(s) was using they would have experinced a similar fate due to whatever it was they were doing at the time.
That said, I have no reason to believe that SDHC cards up to 32 GB will not be fully supported by the WM6 OSes currently being distributed. Furthermore, I anticipate that future revisions of said OSes will equally compatible.
Hi guys,
Sorry to re-hash this thread, just wondering...
I'm about to buy a TyTN II off a friend in work, and wondering if someone could advise me the best card to buy?
I'm a massive music buff, and love my current hermes, however 8GB isn't enough these days, and itching to have more music to beat the iMoan.
So far, some digging has found me this: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/155755
Would that be suitable for the TyTN II?
Thank you,
I currently have a 8GB Class-4 sandisk card in my Kaiser and it has worked perfectly since I installed it last year. I have some TomTom maps and a load of music and its about 2/3's full. I have been looking for a 16GB but have held off so far. 7Dayshop.com have some 16GB MicroSD cards starting at £32.99 delivered, but these are only Class-2.

According to the information I have, the 8925/Kaiser/Tilt, etc, will support at 32gig microSD card.
From what I've read, the Tilt/Kaiser will support up to a 32 gb, although 16 gb is the largest out.
However, I also read that it will only read at Class 2 speeds. Anyone know if that's actually true? If going to class 6 will give me more speed, I'd definitely go for that when I upgrade my card, but if not, there's no reason to pay more for it.
Anyone know when the 32 gb cards are supposed to come out?
Always buy a Name Brand Card and From a Reputable Dealer and you won't have any problems.
There are a lot of nefarious people out there that trick 2GB cards to act like 8GB cards and by the time you find out, because of locking up and data corruption they are gone with your cash. Don't cheap out when it comes to your data.
Hi!
I understand that HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) support SD 2.0 standard, which allow it to use microSDHC memory card.
Yesterday, I have found a Kingston 4GB microSDHC memory card at one retailer shop, I want to buy it. So I asked the storekeeper for a test by inserting the 4GB card into TyTN II card slot. The result, TYTN II do not recognize or see the microSDHC card from Kingston at all.
I have read in other forum that TyTN II can use Sandisk or Toshiba microSDHC card up to 4GB without the need of any driver of anything.
So what's the problem? My Kaiser use released ROM (WM6) and it work fine with 2GB microSD, but why it do not work with microSDHC?
Can any friend explain why? and can you help me get my TyTN II to work with 4GM microsSDHC?
Thank for advaice

Same here. And I also have tested the 8GB. Also worked fine.
I own Kingston 4GB microSDHC, works like a charm The problm may be in the card or your device. First of all try inserting the card when device is switched on.
Don't forget, maybe it was a shonky card in the first place?

It may not have been properly pre-formatted either, sometimes the factory format isn't perfect.
I also use 4GB Sandisk card. The only problem is it get's stuck (U can't remove it just by giving it a little push after wich it's supposed to pop out).
In some other thread there is a discussion of this problem and someone recommended "going round the edges with a paper clip" wich I didn't understand. Can someone who has solved the issue give me more details about the solution?
All in all 4GB Sandisk card seems to larger than normal.
I was about to buy a 4gb Kingston Micro SDHC on the weekend, but held off because my Sandosk 2gb isnt even half full.
It was a class 4 which i presume is faster than my Sandisk 2gb.
Im curios to know what the Kaisers actual sustained transfer rates are with the SDHC cards.
Imo, Kaiser will not be able to use full speed of the card even if it was 0.5 class =)) Higher class card only works faster through card-reader, not in the device or through Card Export.
I've also noticed, that my kingston is hard to get back from the device, but i think it is the problem of the slot cover - it really s*cks.

Is your Kingston a SDHC? And did you get a card reader with it?
When i had my HTC P3600i i found that whilst running TomTom6 off my microSD and selecting 6 types of POI it would hang as i beleived it would 'time out' as the data transfer rate was slower than allowed. This was using a Sandisk 1Gb MicroSD in a miniSD adaptor.
Hence why i am genuinely curious to know what is the actual sustained data transfer rate of the Tytn II.
Yes, it is microSDHC (I doubt you find microSD 4Gb large), cardreader was purchased separately. I'm almost sure, that inner kaiser controller will not be able to transfer data to main memory at rates close to the specified in the class description. Though, I also doubt, that you TomTom problem had anything in common with SD data transfer rate. I'm sure you were able to watch video from it (your card), and it is about 1500kbit/sec (HQ) - far more then needed to perform any searching operations. Practically, I've noticed, that copying files through cardreader is about 5 times faster than through CardExport and not sure this was device USB limitation.
After reformatting the 4GB Kingston micro SDHC card, it work OK!
Thank for advise! The shopkeeper thank me a lot, saying that if you don't tell me to format the card, I will never know!

is the TYTNII a SD (ver. 1.0, 1.1) device? (if so then it will not recognize SDHC cards (>4GB))?
Does anyone know if this works with TYTNII (pratically, not theoretically)?
Has anyone used this or the 12GB one?
Thanks

The problem is how to fit it in your Kaiser ?
Cause this is not a micro SDHC card
While I don't know about the SD version on the Kaiser, I can tell you it reads 8GB SDHC cards. So if your 1.0, 1.1 versions only recognize under 4GB then the Kaiser is obviously using a later version.
Not sure on what you are going to pay for that size card... you can get an 8GB for under $50 which might be a smarter move until the others come down in price.
dang thats the price of my tilt
btw our phone support up to 32gb

LOL good point, i didn't even follow the link to see that. I thought that SDHC was only micro cards...but then again I don't own any other devices that use these so i never researched them.
So, to the OP the size should work...but make sure you get a micro!
the card u posted in ur link will NOT work becase it doesnt suppot SDHC...u just simply cant put it inside ur phone...
It does Fit into the phone, what you see in the link is the exterior part of it. The smaller card is in the inside (fits underneath the one shown).

Actually, the links provided are SD cards, not Micro SD. The picture is not a Micro SD to SD converter, it's just an SD card. Micro SD to SD converters do not show the size of the card on them
So in conclusion, no, the product(s) in the links you provided will not fit in the kaiser, and therefore will not work. However here in the UK, we can expect to see 16GB Micro SDHC on the 31st May. See here

Sorry My bad then..
Anyway now that thats sorrted out, my question still stands
Memory limit
One of HTC tech support guys basically told me that if the microSDHC card says SDHC that the Kaiser (or the Tilt he was referring to seeing as I was talking to him about my phone) will support it...and I believe he mentioned up to at least 128gb memory capacity or something. One other poster in this thread mentioned 32gb...
Now for reality, at the time of my purchase of the Tilt Nov 2008, Sandisk was the first to make 8gb microSDHC (okay others announced it too), and the time from their announcement of 8gb being put on their website at $139.99 in Nov 2007 or so.....to the availability on amazon in roughly January or Feb 2008 at 139.99....to the current amazon price of roughly in the $50 range by March/April 2008.....to the realization that very few other memory manufacturers have released 8gb microSDHC cards.......makes one think that by the time any amazing company makes anything substantially bigger than 8gb, AND releases it to market at a price I'm willing to pay for.......By that time...I and probably many of us, will have bought a newer phone with proper drivers...that the limit of memory size of microSDHC for the kaiser will be a memory.
In others words, 8gb microSDHC is the largest you will find today (most likely), and the phone will handle much more than that in its product lifetime. Buy with confidence that your kaiser in April 2008 can handle any microSDHC product available in April 2008.
Hope this helped.
thanks nicely put

That sounds awesome!!! I haven't seen the 16gb ones yet. How much do they go for?
I live near a Microcenter
so the 8G Microcenter version went on sale for 34 Bucks..thats right! Now the SANDISK 8G is a little bit more expensive but they are the same class SDs. I have the Microcenter version running right now in my Tilt with only 2Gs left...I'll probably try and get the SANDISK 16G but I might even wait to see if Microcenter comes out with their own 16G which generally is cheaper than Sandisks.
