Hi all,
I recently switched to Linux on my laptop and went looking for a way to use Internet Sharing with Linux. I installed Ubuntu, which works pretty good. I also installed VirtualBox w/WinXP as a guest OS and installed ActiveSync and was able to get the phone connection working fine.
At any rate, I found a pretty good tutorial on Ubuntu Forums for using Internet Sharing via Bluetooth. I haven't tried using the USB cable as yet but for now Bluetooth works great for me. I can use the cable within the virtual OS.
Here it is:

Hope it comes in handy for some of you.

I upgraded my blue angel to WM6, which is brilliant. Only problems I'm getting are: turning off the phone from the menu leaves the green led flashing, and the phone can't be turned back on without a soft reset. That I can live with.
Second, it seems the upgraded rom doesn't use a serial connection over USB any longer, which is a pain, as I use Linux and the device doesn't appear as /dev/ttyUSB0 any more
Thirdly, when using wm2003 I was able to add my Linux box as a NAT router and surf via bluetooth. The router was discoverable, and the PAN service appeared on the list of services, now it doesn't, and I have no way of using the internet via bluetooth any more. Any suggestions welcome. I like using the upgraded rom too much to go back.
I can help with the USB over serial change. (I am also a linux user). search for rndis kernel module and use it with opensync and a perl plugin for opensync. I am sorry I don't have the names, but I have not yet fully configured it and am syncing in XP inside vmware. I plan on readdressing this as soon as I got a break from work.
Sorry for being vague but I expect that if you successfully synced WM2003 and linux you will be able to use these hints with skill.
Appreciate it, thanks I'll look into that. It seems the rom upgrade syncs via TCP/IP, as xp needs its DHCP service enabled for activesync to work. With wm2003, I was able to sync with my Debian box over bluetooth and wifi as well as the cradle with synCE, which was very nice, and I miss it now it's gone. I'll persevere.
Just bumping this thread to say it's all working, syncing nicely with evolution. The Ubuntu howto in the link below applied equally to my Debian installation as far as packages were concerned (well, Ubuntu's Debian-based after all) and with appropriate changes here and there should help users of other Linux distros too.

I have been using WiFiRouter successfully to connect my Windows laptop to the Kaiser. Works great. I recently got a MacBook Air and attempted to connect it as well. The Mac recognizes the WiFiRouter when it searches for wireless networks but it registers it as a device, not as a network. I don't know how to make it connect through the "device".
Any thoughts?

It works great on mine. I just connect to the device anyway - and it routes to internet regardless.
Any specific question on this one that I can help with?

Since I am a neophyte in the Mac World perhaps there is someting I need to do with the Mac itself. The WMWiFirouter works well with my windows laptop. The Mbair (airport) senses it sometimes and it lists it as a device. When I tell it to connect, it does not do it.
Could you please tell me what setup are you using with the Mbair that makes the difference? Is there any particular setting in the System Preferences that I need to set to make it work?
Thank for any help!
I was able to connect by uninstalling the old version of WMWiFiRouter and reinstalling the new one directly from the website. I went through right away.

So i have installed Athine lite, PDACornerUltimate.V17, and HyperDragon IV. Athine lite and PDA v17 are both based on WM 6.5 and i can not get WM remote desktop to work it just hangs @ connecting with no error messages. Hyperdragon based on 6.1, RD works just fine.
Any1 have a solution to get this working on v6.5? i have installed Mocha Remote Client and Terminal Services 2002 and both of those work just fine on WM6.5, but i really want to be able to map my device to the machine.
im currently running Athine lite as its fast and clean.
would you mind explaining how you got it to work the first time? im a little confused about the domain and ip address and such
so what is no one having a problem with this?
same problem here, just sitting on connect...
And there's no traffic since HSDPA doesn't kick in (switching between H and 3G symbol).
I've been trying Anryl's latest ROM's. 21202 rev 8 or 9 had RDP as part of the ROM at that connected ok.
I've just upgraded to his 21500 rev 5 and RDP is not embedded so installed from the .cab I used with WM6.1 and I get the hang at 'connecting' problem.
Don't really want to downgrade but may have to...
Same here. It worked with 6.1 but I install the same cab on 6.5 (Tai BlueCalm ROM) and it just hangs when trying to connect. I can't figure it out.
I found this link in XDA Developers and it works now for WM6.5.

Was anyone able to establish a connection with this version of rdp 6.5? I only get connection errors when I try to connect to my Vista SP 2 System (works from any Windows XP and Vista device, so its no issue with my pc).

Yes you can with an ad-hoc connection. You'll have to google it though, as no one can tell you the exact details for your network as you will have to use an internal IP address. Start by googling how to use the "ipconfig" command in dos, as that's a good way to find out internal addresses quickly.
Start here:

Thanx for Reply Stuntdouble, but need more info
Thanx for reply stuntdouble but i need some more info regarding the same.
1. Link u have forwarded - I have already did before made a adhoc connection on my laptop and connected it from my winmo.
2. winmo cannot connect thru wireless though when connected thru USB get working fine.
3. I cannot even see a different machine other than my own PC in network neighbourhood.
4. I have installed Network access from HTC but it also dont show any computer in LAN conected while connected on adhoc.
please reply if this could be sorted.
thanx in advance.
Sounds like there's a firewall blocking the connection on your pc.
Currently i have my phone tethered to my laptop via bluetooth.
I was wondering if it is possible to use the phone/its GPS as a type of external GPS device on my laptop.
