Problem with Remote Desktop w/ WM6.5 hybrids - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

So i have installed Athine lite, PDACornerUltimate.V17, and HyperDragon IV. Athine lite and PDA v17 are both based on WM 6.5 and i can not get WM remote desktop to work it just hangs @ connecting with no error messages. Hyperdragon based on 6.1, RD works just fine.
Any1 have a solution to get this working on v6.5? i have installed Mocha Remote Client and Terminal Services 2002 and both of those work just fine on WM6.5, but i really want to be able to map my device to the machine.
im currently running Athine lite as its fast and clean.

would you mind explaining how you got it to work the first time? im a little confused about the domain and ip address and such

so what is no one having a problem with this?

same problem here, just sitting on connect...
And there's no traffic since HSDPA doesn't kick in (switching between H and 3G symbol).

I've been trying Anryl's latest ROM's. 21202 rev 8 or 9 had RDP as part of the ROM at that connected ok.
I've just upgraded to his 21500 rev 5 and RDP is not embedded so installed from the .cab I used with WM6.1 and I get the hang at 'connecting' problem.
Don't really want to downgrade but may have to...

Same here. It worked with 6.1 but I install the same cab on 6.5 (Tai BlueCalm ROM) and it just hangs when trying to connect. I can't figure it out.

I found this link in XDA Developers and it works now for WM6.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3592033

Was anyone able to establish a connection with this version of rdp 6.5? I only get connection errors when I try to connect to my Vista SP 2 System (works from any Windows XP and Vista device, so its no issue with my pc).

Yes you can with an ad-hoc connection. You'll have to google it though, as no one can tell you the exact details for your network as you will have to use an internal IP address. Start by googling how to use the "ipconfig" command in dos, as that's a good way to find out internal addresses quickly.
Start here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx

Thanx for Reply Stuntdouble, but need more info
Thanx for reply stuntdouble but i need some more info regarding the same.
1. Link u have forwarded - I have already did before made a adhoc connection on my laptop and connected it from my winmo.
2. winmo cannot connect thru wireless though when connected thru USB get working fine.
3. I cannot even see a different machine other than my own PC in network neighbourhood.
4. I have installed Network access from HTC but it also dont show any computer in LAN conected while connected on adhoc.
please reply if this could be sorted.
thanx in advance.

Sounds like there's a firewall blocking the connection on your pc.

HTC TOUCH DIAMOND use as modem

hello,
I have an htc touch diamond and I can't use it as modem,
Mention that I have on my pc windows mobile center...
every think is work ok, the only problem is, I can't see it like a modem,
I have found some topics here, on this forum and I have trry some drivers but isn't work,
any ideeas?
thanks very much!
What have you tried? Normally, when your synced, you can start using internet on your pc/laptop by opening the "Internet Sharing" application on your Touch Diamond. After this there'll be some drivers installed on your PC, enabling Bluetooth PAN. These were the only things I need to do on my Vista workstation, after this I was able to browse the internet on my laptop using the Touch Diamond.
It's pretty fast as well, using HSDPA. I can reach download speeds up to 150KB/s! Good luck!
it is in Italian language and I don't understand it very well,
Now I have connect it yo my laptop
I will try to install English language to my phone, because I don't understand very well Italian language...
thanks a lot!!!

Hi, like zmeutz I'm trying to setup my diamond as a modem.
Works great with IS and bluetooth PAN. But what I'm looking for is the diamond as a simple Modem.... It should be possible as when using any kind of "terminal" application over a bluetooth serial link connected to the diamond it does response to AT hayes commands....
However, when I try to use a ipaq to connect to the diamond through DUN it does not work....
I'm trying to do this for two purpose:
1/ Connect my ipaq running TTN6 so it gets traffic information from tomtom server. PAN works, but it's a pain compared to DUN. You need to activate BT on your diamond, run internet share, clik on two fields to set it up. Then click on connect to make it active. Then you need to go back to you IPAQ, before running you application, launch BT, got to settings, click on the diamond short cut for PAN. Then you can can launch your navigator on your IPAQ.... If you loose your connection, you need to start all the process again.....
While with dune, you would just need to activate bt on your phone.... The rest would be transparent as soon as you IPAQ application tries to connect to internet you get the connection...... At least it's the way it worked with my motoroal (razr).....
2/ sending faxes..... For this I need a true modem ;-).
Any ideas other that PAN?
Rgds,
JP.
HTC Touch Diamond Internet Sharing Problems
I have a HTC touch Diamond and I did as stated above but my phone asks for server information. But I have unlimited data, why doesnt it just continue on with the Evdo it has?
lol
all you need to do is install Microsoft active sync, then use the usb lead to plug in your diamond.
A menu will pop up, press internet sharing, your computer will recognize the phone as a network connection and drivers will be installed, hay presto your online
You can also use your bluetooth in the diamond and laptop.
Pair your device with the laptop, goto internet sharing, select bluetooth and connect.
Then goto (xp) Start - connect to - bluetooth pan
it will then connect to the device.
This way is slow but it works.
I have also written a guide on how to use you phone as a proper access point, search for it.
and if it doesnt appear
I've tried several times to set up my phone as a modem.
I have installed active sync on my laptop, but if i connect my Touch diamond "NO" menu pops up. Where can i find this menu? On my laptop or phone? And can anyone direct me to it. THNX
HTC Touch Diamond does not support Bluetooth DUN profile.
Its not worth the trouble. I would buy a dedicated usb modem. Only 20-30 Dollars

FTPServer for the Diamond

Hi,
as plugging and unplugging the USB-connector for installing all these exciting new features and apps from this forum is very time consuming, I tried to install a FTP-Server on the Diamond to preserve the USB connector.
I tried all FTPServers I could find with google (commercial and non-commercial ones), but all failed at some point. Of course, a FTP-Server only really makes sense, when you are able to connect local via WLAN, Bluetooth or USB. I tried WLAN to no avail.
Some of the programs tested:
Freefloat
SareIt
Mochasoft
PE Ftp Server 1.9
vxFtpSrv
Has anyone a working solution? Is this a problem of WM6.1 or the TouchFlo Interface ?
Magnus
Try using Resco Explorer - then if you have Wi-Fi use the My Network to map a shared drive. I have it setup so it looks at My Documnets on my PC so I can then copy the files into a drive on the phone.

elaborate on the network structure. does your phone have a unique and direct(!!!) IP addrress OR are you trying to access it strictly from your LAN?
also, you might want to read my networking-related articles. in them, I've explained a LOT of Windows Mobile networking secrets.

The phone connects to an AP which does nothing but bridging into a local LAN segment. To that segment my computer is connected. The phone gets a static IP-Address via DHCP. WLAN connections are confirmed to work for outgoing SMTP and HTTP. If I remember it correctly, the Mochasoft FTP-Server seemed to be up and running, but was only listening to the IP-Address from my phone provider although WLAN was active when the application started.

Thanks, I will give them a try. I already guessed that Microsoft networking will have some quirks.

In the mean time bluetooth ftp works pretty well too.

So, you want to access the FTP server from the outside (out of the LAN)?
You install a FTP server on your PC then a FTP client on the TD. From phone, you launch the FTP client and access the the server on your PC. Then you can you download/upload the file via Wifi.
Try google free ftp client for ppc. You can find the some. However I did try a couple of them. None of the free one seems to be easy to use as the PC version. Thus I would rather stick with the sync cable

No, inside the lan. Same segment, only with a switch inbetween, IP-adresses from the same network and size. So most basic setup you can think off.
@unidisk: I know I can use the mobile as a FTP-Client. But it is much easier to have the server on the device, as using a FTP-Client on your computer is much more userfriendly and much faster.
@All: So no one has a working FTP-Server Software for the Diamond? I really can't believe this!?
Magnus
I just tried it, first on my Athena and then on my Touch Diamond.
Within about 15 minutes I had FTP servers set up and running on both devices
I used this setup:
Linksys router (with OpenWRT) giving out adresses via DHCP.
PC with XP sp 2 connected via LAN.
Athena (with cooked WM 6.1) connected via WLAN.
Touch Diamond (with cooked WM 6.1) connected via WLAN.
I tried ShareItFTP and vxFtpSrv on both PPC devices. Both programs worked flawlessly for anonymous login from my PC.

Using Diamond with Car-PC via bluetooth?

Hi there,
I got a car-pc since a while and have been using my sony ericsson with it... calls get transferred via bluetooth to the computer, as like phonebook in integrated into the car-pc software... all transmitted via bluetooth...
Now with the diamond, how do i set it up as a phone? winXP doesnt recognize other services than the moden funxtion
you should enable Remote SIM access on you Diamond: Start -settings - connections bluetooth SIM acces and also activate the service for your BT connection (do this in the first tab of the BT settings dialogue after connectig)
already done :-( But the Computer doesn't list other functions than modem for the HTC
Do i need any drivers for XP? Usually not...
Using Diamond & CarPC Via Internet sharing over BT
I have a CarPC in my car, it has a 7" touch screen & it is running WinXP and have built in Bluetooth. So for surfing in the internet , MSN, Skype in my car over the carpc i am using my HTC Diamond with the Internet Sharing icon and connecting it via Bluetooth to the carPC so i get FAST Internet over Bluetooth between my carpc and my HTC Diamond.
It works very good - very stable.
Matter of fact it is "capturing" my 3G Internet and pass it over Bluetooth to the carpc.
Solution works very well.
k, but i am not interested in using it as internet connection, i want to phone via the computers hardware, so the car-pc should act as an headset... besides that, he shoult be able to access the adress book and to begin calls... that for, i neeed 2 comports emulated, but how to create them?
could it be because the device is seen as a PDA, and not as a mobile phone?
I know somewhere here on XDA there is a reg hack for earlier devices to make them appear as a mobile phone to car kits. maybe the same thing will help here. I don't know where it is, can only suggest searching, unless anyone else can point you in the right direction....
I used to have PhoneConnector on my CarPC, with PhocoAdapter on the phone. It worked, but now this software is not supported anymore and unfortunately it does not work with WM6.
Freefone is not compatible either.
My good Blackbaron, I believe we users of CarPCs and Windows Mobile are scr...d!
By the way, sharing the 3G connection workds a treat, by USB, BT, Wifi... I just wish Vodafone would allow other ports than port 80
I still didnt realize what 3G is... ^^ I never owned a ppc before...
Well, on the CarPC the internet speed is as great as a DSL line, here is France I measured it at more than 3.5 MB/s (KS20 is limited to 4 MB/s with HSDPA, who knows why). Coming from the crappy Edge Motorola phone I had before, the browsing is truly amazingly fast!

1) Launch the Internet Sharing application on your phone (all WM6 phones have it)
2) Select your 3G connection, and BT or USB, tap "Connect"
3) USB: have ActiveSync installed on the PC, connect the USB cable, it's done.
4) BT: you have to set up a BT PAN hosted from your phone, add your PC to it, it's done.
5) If your provider uses a proxy, setup Firefox to use it (Tools/Options/Advanced/Network)
6) If your provider has a filter on User Agent, then you need the plug-in "User Agent Switcher", to put the same User Agent string as on your phone.
There you go!

WM 6.5 Bluetooth PAN Windows 7?

Hi guys, I have been trying to get my XDA to go online THROUGH my desktop computer via bluetooth. PAN.
Sadly, I am having ZERO luck!
On the desktop side, I was using the Toshibia bluetooth stack, I have also tested using the default Microsoft bluetooth stack.
On the XDA side, I tried and failed using WM 6.1 and the default stack, I then upgraded to 6.5 (Which is pretty sweet) and could not get the default stack to work via PAN either. I also installed Widcomm Bluetooth stack which provides much more output than the MS one.
After using the Widcomm drivers, I am getting the impression that my desktop is not offering the PAN service, but I am a little bit confused as to why.
If someone, could provide me with some current and up to date pointers (Please do not link me to random wiki pages made in 2005 - Its all changed!) I would be thankful!
Well I'm just trying the same with an old Wizard and it seems the possibility to share internet FROM Desktop TO Windows mobile has been removed... since WM6.
==> The option "Join a network" is missing from WM6... wich is weird since the bluetooth pan driver can still be configurer under "Parameters/System/Connections/WIFI/Network Card"
If Anyone knows how to figure this out : I've read more than 30 posts of people looking to share internet this way around with no success...
whereas you've got out of date pages explaining how to do it under windows mobile 2003 !
Need drivers
on my pc setting up a new connections gets stuck when i choose the device. there it shows my device but wn i select connect>access point i get some error tat the device is allready connected to another device but im sure its not.
on the phone when i set up a new modem settings
after select device, it comes to the partnership settings where only option is active sync. i think with some driver we may be able to get a internet setting here.

Access Internet on Kaiser via PC

Ok I have been trying to use my pc connection and access that connection through my bluetooth on my kaiser, most I can get is the other way around. Any suggestions
Not sure that Internet Connection sharing in WinMo supports that...just wondering, why the heck would you want to surf the web on a 2.8" screen when you have a full PC available to you?
You can use the remote desktop facility via wifi. But as previously posted... why?! Bluetooth doesn't support a high enough datarate for it to work properly.
Connection at my location is 3G at best so bluetooth is defininitaly fast enough to accomidate my needs just simple stuff.

The best way to get the connection on your kaiser throught the pc is when you connect it using the USB and being connected to the active sync on your pc besides there are no settings need to be made for using this way. I'm not sure if you can connect the kaiser to you active sync on the pc through the bluetooth.anyway let me try it and if anything pops up, i'll let you know
Nope, no additional software required. Just go into Start - Programs - Internet Sharing. Hit connect and connect up your USB cable and you're done.
_Wait for ActiveSync to connect and then exit the programme._________________
Max confusion
What a jumble this thread has become . The O/P wanted to access the internet that's already on his PC and channel that through his TyTN II - NOT the other way around. As already mentioned in one post, one way of getting this is via an Activesync (or WMDC if it's Vista or Win 7 on the PC) connection. For greatest speed this would be via the USB cable but it is possible to have an Activesync or WMDC connection via Bluetooth for greater mobility if there's a need to carry the phone up to 10 m from the bluetooth hub. The other (more straight forward) way to do this is just to connect the phone via WiFi directly to the landline/broadband router (assuming there is a WiFi capable router avail).
Internet connection sharing is only for when the phones internet connection eg GSM/3G or HSDPA is feed to a desktop PC (say if the landline/broadband connection is down). In the O/Ps second post, the reference to Bluetooth speeds made it look like this was what was being saught.
I have done all of these with my TyTN II and had things working well in each case.
