Amber LED not blinking on Reminders [SOLUTION INCLUDED] - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General
Hi all,
I know there are some topics on reminders and LEDs that aren't blinking, but I can't find any solution for the problem I have.
I own a HTC TyTN II, with ROM 1.56.405.5 (08/28/07).
When I set in the "Start" - "Settings" - "Sounds and notifications" - "Notifications" for the event "Reminders" the option "Flash light for NO LIMIT".
This does not work like it should be. (Missed calls seem to be OK)
At the time of the reminder, the screen turns on, message is shown AND amber light is blinking. This is all OK.
But when (after 2 minutes) the screen truns off (set in backlight settings), the amber light is turned off too!!! The green LED is blinking again.
When I look at my device (the LED), it seems nothing happened. I can only see that there was a reminder when I turn my screen on.
I searched the internet already, but did not find any solution for it.
- I discovered "Kaiser Notifications", but I don't want anything else to change, no reminders needed, only an amber blinking LED.
- I discovered this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290719 , that seems to be exactly the same problem as I have. I changed the registry as described, but this does not help on my device.
I hope someone knows how to tweak or solve this??
Thanks in advance!!
Sam
Hi all,
I tested this on another device (with same ROM) and it seems to be a bug in Windows...
Does anyone has the same problem?
Sam
Hi all,
new update...
I tested a HTC 3300 (Artemis) with WM6 and this shows me the same problem!
Reminders don't work like it should be!
Strange that no-one else has the same problem...

Problem solved...
Hi,
I found a solution to solve this problem on all devices.
Let's call it the "LedBugFix"
Just copy the CAB to your device, run the CAB en perform a soft-reset.
Now, the amber light should stay active until you "read" the reminder.
Note that in your "sounds & notifications" this checks for reminder should be:
[X] Play sound (can checked or not)
[ ] Repeat (SHOULD BE OFF!) (Can be solved by creating a WAV that plays for x minutes)
[ ] Display message on screen (SHOULD BE OFF!)
[X] Flash light for xxx (your choise)
[X] Vibrate (your choise)
Have fun!

Sam, You have no idea how much I have been looking for a solution to this flashing amber light problem. I have(or should I say, HAD) the Verizon XV6800(WM6). In the Sounds and Notifications for MMS, the option to turn on REPEAT and FLASHING LIGHT is greyed out and will not allow you to turn on these settings. Can you please tell me if your solution will or is designed to fix this particular problem for MMS? Also, is there some reason why "Display message on screen" must be turned OFF. Does this mean that the icon on the Today screen for MMS will NOT SHOW that an MMS has been received???
I'm really sorry that I can't try your solution myself, because I got so sick and tired of dealing with Verizon and UTStarcomm over this issue and the fact that ActiveSync was always turning itself on, that I finally got so worn out I just returned the phone within my "30 Day Worry Free Guarantee". I want this phone very badly, but bugs like this make me wonder what others exist that I had yet to discover. Dealing with these mega-corporations and getting nowhere just made me disgusted and fed up so I returned it.
I may be a glutton for punishment, but I am giving serious consideration to getting this phone again(It will be my THIRD time) so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Your efforts to resolve this problem are commendable.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Sam
I've been searching for this but couldn't find the right entries. Found it just now. I'll give it a try and hoping it works like you say. Thanks anyway for you efforts.
I did give this a try and while it seems to work, my backlight now is an Max Low when I turn on the phone, Unlocking is then very difficult when driving. Once unlocked the display remains dim and when checking the display brightness sliders, they are in the correct positions that I last left them, just moving one causes the display to go bright again, until the next power on.
I un-installed the cab, reset, and all is normal again....wierd.
Just in the case you can simply fix this weird WM "feature" you can use DontForget application.
DontForget is easy-to-use and highly customizable Windows Mobile application that can repeatedly remind you of unread SMS text messages, unread MMS multimedia messages,
missed calls, unread E-mails and missed calendar events by sound, vibration, notification window or hardware LED.
DontForget also can do much more ...
More you can read in this thread
or directly here.

[IDEA] Missed call / sms notifier / etc.
Dear developers We all know that when we have recieved a sms/email or a missed call that the led's around the action-button are not so bright. It's hard to see you have had a missed call or something in that category. It's it possible to make a program that will light up the entire display in bright white light (or let it flicker 3 times fast) once a minute or so (and make it possible to choose your own interval)... This would be a great addition for the TD!!
Anybody??
One of the custom tweaks available at Diamond TF3D Config is WakeUpOnNewSMS, that will bring to live your device on new sms http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749 or you can just set to '0' the key HLM\Drivers\BUILTIN\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent About the missing calls, the device already lights up and flashes. I think the main problem about keeping waking up the device in intervals of time its the annoyince of pressing at random and taking actions on the phone without noticing.
Suggestion for new tweaks (Email app)
Hi all, For some reason, my Diamond does not offer me the option of flashing the LED when a new email comes in (it's greyed out). LED would be really useful as it would save having to check the device - just like a Blackberry - any ideas on how to effect this? Also, I have configured Email to be my "home page" using TF3D-Config (thanks - great util) - but anyone know how to make the Inbox (ie. list of messages) the default screen, rather than the graphical envelope (which doesn't seem to useful). Again - just like Blackberry. As you guessed I'm using Direct Push with Exchange more than the phone! Sorry to be requesting help rather than contributing help - but I've only had it a day since I retired my S620! br/boss
The thing you thing is an LED is actually a light sensor. New message notifications are done using varying types of white light around the center button. If you take a look at the user manual you will find out more. There was also a detailed post about it once on here, but I can't for the life of me find it!!
Called it an "LED" as I couldn't think of another term! However - despite the user manual, the option for flashing notifications is greyed out, but strangely not for MMS. This is a Vodafone supplied Diamond, so one wonders whether they've turned email notifications off to encourage more spend on MMS etc... Maybe I'm too skeptical about operators...
Try Advance Config by Boinger66... ( its a sticky ) There you can set the time for all notifications including e-mail.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406681
So do you not get any of this?? The buttons below the touch screen and the exterior edge of the Navigation Control which is an LED ring will light up in the following situations: Controls Light Behavior SEND button Light flashes when there is an incoming call. END button Light stays solid when there is an incoming call. Navigation Control The LED ring shows a “breathing” white light when the battery is being charged. The LED ring shows a solid white light when the battery is fully charged. The LED ring flashes a white light once when the battery level is low and reaches down to about 10%. The top and bottom parts of the LED ring flashes a white light twice when there is a new e-mail, voice mail, or meeting reminder. A white light goes around the LED ring counterclockwise twice starting from the top when there is a missed call or new SMS or MMS message.
In short - no. The light pulses when charging but that's it - so that light itself works, but certainly not for notifications etc. And I'd already tried to install Boinger66's Advance Config but after what is reported as a successful install - there is nothing - no app - zip - and no app visible in "remove programs". As if it never was installed. And any subsequent reinstallation attempt causes "failed to install". I'm now really puzzled... esp. as Boinger66's thread isn't exactly riddled with a basic "app won't install query".

Thanks - that's certainly fixed the app installation issue, and the light now does flash on notifications. Although it doesn't seem reliable. More investigation required by me, probably lots of resets, and maybe it's fixed. Again - many thanks
Missed Call - LED notification for missed calls
I have written a little application that gives LED notification for missed calls. (the default behaviour gives you only LED notifications for SMS,email and voicemail) Features: Customizable sound, vibration, led, repeat notifications for missed calls, incoming calls, sms, bluetooth enabled/disabled, bluetooth device connected, airplane mode, battery level low, etc. Version 0.8.9 includes a Locale plug-in! For all the Droid users make sure that you have got "Missed Call for Android 2.0" installed. You can try it out if you want. DOWNLOAD: Android Market - Missed Call FEEDBACK: Just reply to the thread here or tweet me: http://twitter.com/missed_Call
This is pretty cool, now all we need is a Bluetooth notification light.
Thanks mister. This is just what I needed.
The next updates will be released in the Android market only. But I will update the thread here when the next version is available.
Hey i emailed you earlier about what the status icon does. i just wanted to say thanks i understood now. thanks for the quick reply too. omar
Awesome job. Interface exaclty like it should be. Working exaclty as expected. Strange feeling to have such app on this new platform. Most of apps is raw a meat. =)
your app rocks. originally, i gave you 4 stars and said "add option to change colors" and you did that in the update. i can't change my rating in market, but i now give you 5 stars. mario
You rock! I downloaded this a few days ago and just got the update- SO COOL! I dont know if you are looking for ideas or taking requests, but ability to play a sound every few (cusomizable ) minutes would be stellar! I miss my reminders for missed calls, texts, etc from WM as my phone is usually in its sleeve Better yet, your app taking over all the notifications to give us selectability in color and blinking rate of the LED (and hopefully sound!) for ALL notifications, that would just be a "dream"!
I'm thinking about all kinds of different customisations for the notifications. Today I added SMS LED support. Have fun with it. Regards!
if you keep it up you may want to get a "donation" Paypal linkie
This app is awesome I'm still hoping for an audio reminder every X (customizable) minutes using X (customizable) alert in either this app or another similar one, but for now this is great
I'm thinking about adding this reminders. The problem is that they will drain the battery. But I will test these things and add them. PS: If you got a forced close while stopping the service it would be nice if you could inform myself. I know it has to to with the stopping of notifications but I can't figure out the excat bug.
Looking at the phone seems to drain the battery. I once thought about using GPS and it drained the battery. Just saying battery seems to drain it. I wouldnt worry about the notifications hahaha
Well yeah. I'm looking into that. I will add some Timer as well to make it possible to shut down the notification after a certain amount of time. But well I just need a break at the moment.
a break? Get back to work! seriously though, great work! I am looking forward to seeing your future versions.
In the next release we will have some bugs fixed. SMS and Call LED stops blinking now when you read the messages or look at the missed calls. (which was a hard peace of work since it is completly undocumented ) In addition we will have a permanent status icon when it is set. (it will not disappear when you clear the status bar) And last but not least we will have a silent incoming call notification. (LED flasing while incoming call in changeable color) Regards!
add reminders please!
Ah yeah. I will look into them.
Hello again, I downloaded the newest version of the app with sms support. Its works good but found a couple "bugs". First is, that sometimes the led turns green, but I clear it and then its blue again like it was set. Happens from time to time. Last, if its possible, can the led take precedence over the charging light? Also, what is the timer for? Is it the duration the led stays on like in a blink or what? Sorry having a problem undestand the on off thingy. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Your first problem is fixed now in the current release. (0.3.7) I'm sorry but the system doesn't allow overriding the charging LED. I tried that serveral times but there is no chance to do it in the current Android release. (confirmed by Google developers) I renamed the timer now. It is the interval that the LED is blinking. 300ms/300ms leads to very fast blinking for example. Regards!
LED Stopped Working For SMS
I recently noticed that the LED light for missed SMS - which formerly blinked for the default five mins - no longer did so. I've checked the 'Sounds and Notifications' option in 'All Settings' (I'm using Sense 2.5 stock ROM, WM 6.5) and found that the flash LED option for 'new message' was unchecked. I rechecked the box (and changed the duration - didn't know that could be done without a mod), along with 'display message on screen' and 'vibrate'. Now, although the other two options have taken effect the LED still doesn't blink. I've recently installed a few mods/apps, one to create a registry entry to enable wake-up on new SMS, and Missed Call Reminder for repeating alerts for missed events. I thought they might be interfering with the LED but have removed them both no avail. Any suggestions?
[Q] How to Turn on screen when there's a notification?
Hi there: Is there a way to make it so the screen turns on when I get a notification? The only thing that happens currently is a sound is played. I could have sworn when I first got it that the screen turned on as well. Any help would be great. Thanks!
I have a similar requirement and therefore would like to bring this issue up to seek for your help. Whenever an SMS comes, there are a sound and a small icon of an envelop appearing at the top of the phone for about 1 ~ 2 seconds. If the phone is with me then I know there is an SMS. Other cases i.e. when I am outside and leave my phone in my room, I will not know that I have SMS on my phone until I open the message application (as there is no notification like missed call)! Can anyone let me know how to set the SMS icon (the small yellow envelop) remaining on the notification bar until I open and read the SMS? Thanks in advance.
have you tried NOLED ?
Yes, searched and installed NoLED from Market. This application is greate, it satisfies my requirements! Many thanks to AllGamer and all xda-developers!
