*minds out of the gutter*
I frequently use my phone in bed while lying down sideways (years of using my laptop in bed have made this so). This means that Gyrator gets completely screwed up because my head is sideways, giving no hope for the screen to be oriented the same way as my eyes. I usually have to move around a lot to get it to line up, or give up and sit up.
Is there a way to switch Gyrator, or your phone, to know that sideways is up for a temporary period of time? Does anyone else deal with this problem? Is this the most meaningless problem you've ever heard of? Is all this way too much information about my bed habits?

I uninstalled gyrator last night whilst in bed as it was annoying me so much.
I honestly thought I was the only one with this problem.
I ended up just using PIE for anything I wanted to read (which worked out since I mostly read short stories on websites)
I have not come across anything that might do what you're asking, and although I wasn't exactly looking for it I think it would have caught my eye.
If I find anything I'll let you know. Power to the bed-gyrators! (?)

I think it might be easier to just crash Gyrator in bed. There are no apps I use exclusively why lying down.
Try playing Teeter while lying down sideways. It's a mess!
follow kraize's advice and install this alternative to gyrator. much easier to configure and has some diff settings that are def what ur looking for.
My wife loves her Gyrator, she uses it in the bed, at her desk at her office... I think she likes it too much......
+1 for Change Screen. I've been using it for 2 days and not 1 problem and very easy to customize.
Hahah, I totally have this same problem. But then, I don't think it bothers me enough to actually do anything about it. And it would annoy me more to have a switch an app on and off to change the behaviour.

I like that I can set Gyrator to allow certain rotations, and not others, so that TouchFlo and the phone app only flip, but don't rotate. I believe I couldn't get that level of control with Change Screen.
if the touchscreen is pressure sensitive on the xperia of course. does anyone think it would be possible to code a program to measure that pressure in mass?

im sure by slightly touching my screen im putting less than a gram of pressure per sq. inch on the screen so im not sure what your talking about because im not going to measure a boulder on the thing, use your common sense..
Yes, it's definitely possible and would not be too hard to code. One way would be to define a measurement area ("scale") on the screen then gradually increase sensitivity settings (via a program, of course) in the registry until a touch was registered in that area. Initially, the registry values would need to be calibrated against a set of small weights (up to a reasonable weight, of course). Anyone got their high school physics weights?

I think it's a really interesting idea to test.
I think it can be done since X1's touchscreen is resistive so it will be able to sense graduations in changing pressure.
Had you had an IPhone, it's capacitative screen would made this impossible.
The thing is, working with registry settings won't do the trick in my opinion. I think you need something more low level (like a driver maybe) to talk directly to the touchscreen.
If I were you I'd go and check the WM 6.1 SDK and see what it makes visible thru its API for the touchscreen part.
It would be worth investigating how the driver accesses the touchscreen hardware.

It's the fingerpressure registry setting that changes it.
But storm' is right. I forgot that those registry settings don't take effect until a reset, so you'd need another method to either dynamically change the sensitivity or capture the value of the pressure as it is being applied.

I was looking at the SDK site last night but didnt quite know what i was looking for, but now ill research the touchscreen driver(s) and how they are accessed by the phone and how we can use them to our benefit.
there is a touch.dll file in the windows folder im wondering if this registers the pressure applied..

e: Bloody great idea though. i'm not sure how it'll really work or how accurate it'll be... An object placed on the screen might have multiple contact points, and as the screen cannot detect multiple points pressure from the weight might be exerted elsewhere on the screen and not detected.

i can place four fingers on the screen and they will find the exact center lift one finger up they will find the exact center of the three remaining fingers etc etc maybe this can help us in our mission..
so say you have a nice beautiful green flower that is making contact at three seperate points on the screen maybe we can incorporate what is going on in the fish panel to find the center and compare the pressure applied that the touch.dll hopefully will give us, and that we hope to figure by placing weights on the screen

This guy built its own drawing "board" by using a resistive touchscreen. The interesting thing is that he provides two methods of actually calculating the touch resistance which means that
1) it's possible to use it as a balance because the resistance would be dependent on the pressure, and the pressure depends on the mass in our case
2) it doesn't matter how many points you have... There's only one Rtouch so this means it calculates the overall pressure that is exerted onto the touchscreen. Even though you can only determine one X,Y pair...that's of no interest to us...
All this to say that in theory this is actually possible...Only problem is how to access the hardware...

If the touchscreen panel that you want to measure is resistive you can measure it's force/displacement and resistance using one of the switch testers offered by a company called TRICOR Systems.
The touchscreen would have to use resistive technology in order to measure the resistance. Most of the newer touchscreens use either capacitive or surface acoustic wave technology.
So, my phone slips out of my pocket while I was sitting down today. I pick it up, thinking that that kind of fall can't do damage, but I find that the clicking when I tapped the back no longer happens.
My first thought was to cheer, my second to check the camera app. Sure enough, the autofocus is perpetually stuck at minimum. Anyone experience this before? Is there a possible remedy?
I hardly use the camera, so it isn't critical that it ever works again, but as the saying goes, "The best camera you have is the one with you," and I was kinda getting used to the idea of a reasonable camera quality in such a small size.
Oh, haha, it's all fixed. I realized everything but the lens was solid state, so I tapped it against my table a few times at an angle with cloth on the edge a bit harshly, and a tiny click happened on the third one, dislodging it.

I dont have a single one of these issues. I guess it depends just how much of a complainer you want to be. It's like complaining about a laptop you have without keeping things in perspective such as 10 years ago DESKTOP's were the rage. The person should calm down with the complaining and enjoy the phone...

My thoughts exactly! Especially number 17... that's a real disappointment.
Honestly, the only ones I can kinda agree with are the proximity/light sensor issues. It seems to be a bit slow when I pull it away from my ear when in direct sunlight. But, I know where the end button is so it's no big deal.

I noticed that people with android phones in general are far more happy and optimistic than any WM owners I've seen so far.. Maybe I'm just imagining thou =)
Wow Ill be the first one to say the nexus software has enough issues to push me to Apple but even I think that list is finicky. I think users need to at least wait for a couple of updates before giving up on the device. I guess it can't hurt to point out the issues but several of those listed really aren't even worth mentioning.
Edit: I just read the article, pretty harsh! While I've only had a couple of the issues listed I've had many other issues that aren't listed. My main frustration though, and I don't care how the iPhone compares here, is that almost all of the issues I have can be fixed ota but I've heard nothing from Google. The main problems on my end are that the touchscreen is jittery and the images lose quality when I touch the screen and the RAM isn't utilized properly. I have various other minor annoyances -(vkb, boring widgets, etc) and bugs -(random reboot, browser issues, lower effective resolution than advertised, etc) but they are almost all software related, which is a great thing. And if Google would just indicate a willingness or plan to fix my issues I could really relax. I really love all of the integration and Google apps so I'm going to wait and see what happens but at the very least Android needs to share some sort of plan of action. If they did this a lot if not all of the software complaints would cease.
P.S.- considering the iPhone's unimpressive though overdue software upgrades, unless the new iPhone has better resolution, dual mics, hd recording, and front facing camera, I'm not impressed.

Well don't be so quick to dismiss the frustrated users. Some of the things on that list is petty although somewhat accurate i guess, speaker could be louder. I've also had an issue with cradling the phone against my shoulder as that seems to affect the quality of my voice and people complain i sound like i'm "in a tunnel" or far away. I'm guessing something with the noise canceling mic.
I've had the data connection issues which seems to just be a cell radio issue, probably hardware based with my replacement phone at least. I had my old phone replaced because it just did not want to connect via data or whatever for 5-20 seconds all the way up to 2 or 3 minutes. The up arrow on the 3g without any data coming back down issue. Whenever I did a speed test.. upload sometimes would be horrible and it would be really choppy (doing the speedtest.net one) compared to the download. By choppy i mean the meter would jump to different values (it wasn't smooth and consistent like the download) and sometimes it would just stop as would the data indicator lights. It was always around 100-500 kbps averaging around 300. Same behavior for both the original and the RMA.
With the replacement one that i've had for a couple of weeks that issue turned into a much larger one. It started when I wasn't able to make outbound calls so i turned off my phone and turned it back on again to get the x with four blank bars at the top. Re-registered on the network... seemed to work ok for awhile. Then the same thing but started getting a "sim card isn't valid for this network" error when trying to re-register my phone after again starting to randomly show me an x with 4 blank bars at the top. Hard resetting and soft resetting didn't fix it. Sometimes it'd give me an error even searching for them. When i first got the problem it was brief.. but i figured i should get my sim card replaced. So i did. 3-4 days later I wasn't able to get it to work for almost 3 hours.. on my way to the tmobile store it just went from x with 4 bars to 4 full bars and then finally the 3g indicator to the left of that came on. Turned around cause I really didn't have the time to figure out what it was about at that moment. Data worked, could make a phone call. Next day it just got worse to the point now where it wont' search for a network sometimes.. gives me an error after sometime.. and definitely won't register on the network. I also had airplane mode turned on automatically after a soft reset (despite it showing an x and 4 bars and not an airplane)wasn't able to turn it off via the android menu settings. Had to go into the service menu and press turn radio on button.
WIFI still works however.. but that's a separate chip from the cell radio chip and its has just wifi/bluetooth on it so that makes sense.
I've had tmobile double and tripple check everything, network cancellation, sim replacement, check the towers nearby, make sure my plan is setup correctly for my phone. I'm going with poor build quality on some of these and bad quality checking... I guess time will tell. Getting my swap on monday... car dock arrived today and is just sitting on my desk.
3G connection
I have had my Nexus One for a week now...... My area has only had T-Mobile 3G coverage for about a month... At the T-Mobile store all their phones have full 3G service and my Nexus was on Edge only... The HD2 Demo in the store had full bars of 3G and my phone was just pushing out Edge... It flipped to 1 and 2 bars of 3G a couple of times but reverted back to Edge... At home I can set it on my desk or coffee table and set up the screen to stay on for 30 minutes and with out moving the phone watch it flip between 3 bars of 3G to 4 bars of Edge and it does this constantly... Even if I go outside and in my yard set it down and just watch it switch back and forth between Edge and 3G.... The girl next door has the My Touch 3G and she has full 3G service on her phone it never flips between Edge and 3G but the Nexus One does... The day I got it and hooked it up the phone rebooted and loaded the latest firmware and it did this twice.. if I look for manual updates for the phone it says it has the latest software. have not had any of the other issues being posted on here. I have followed some suggestions to go to the settings, networks, mobile networks, network operators and then select automatically (Which was a fix I read about from another post) still no help.. Still flips back and forth between edge and 3G.... How can another phone (The HD2 which I purchased and returned after a week... Windows Mobile is horrible even with sense layered over it) have no problem keeping a 3G signal but the Nexus one continues to drop the signal? Not sure if maybe I got a bad unit and it needs to be exchanged???? Any suggestions on the 3G problem? other than that the phone has been amazing.. I love the stock android 2.1 OS.... the Camera is pretty awesome for a phone...
@Robbie317 Post on the nexus one forums and call them up as well and tell them exactly what you posted here. Personally I'd recommend against an RMA until another update comes back cause who knows what issues the next one can give you if you do a swap... and unless you can wait 1-2 weeks for the same phone to come back to you from a repair I'd wait it out for and update and just ***** on the nexus one tech support forums and calling them. Say what you said here. Hell call them in the store at t-mobile. Take a picture of your bars on your phone next to an HD2. I think its important to get the point across to them as clearly as possible. I'm sure they're aware of most of these issues though.
Also it seems my phone is working again now.. weird and annoying stuff. I filed an FTC complain. Might seem excessive but I looked over those support forums alot today. This is not an isolated issue that is just affecting a small minority of phones that slipped passed quality control. It's also not an issue with t-mobile because they are people who are complaining about the same issues I've had (that got worse over the last 2 weeks) and have AT&T. RYGUY asked for more info in one post to look into the issues being reported so I'm glad they're doing *something* but its definitely not enough. I'm just hoping its not a hardware or design defect in the phone.

This is the main reason I'm returning mine.
I've bought an Xperia Z3+ two months ago, recently, I've discovered a certain bright spot on its screen, it's particularly available in white and bright backgrounds, it's less noticeable in black backgrounds, and not at all noticeable in non-solid backgrounds.
I know that it's a hardware issue, but the warranty here is a joke, and I don't want to pay for a new screen for such a small issue.
But on the other hand, once I noticed it, it's all I could see in the mobile, and it removes the whole premium feel in it.
I've manually removed the back cover and there's no issue in the battery that would make it press towards the screen and cause such issue.
I was wondering if there's any manual fix for it? I know that it's a light diffusing layer problem, mostly caused by a certain pressure, but is there a way to make it normal again? A certain pressure in an opposite way, or heat, or suction from behind, etc.

I have the exact same problem at the very same position as you point. My country does not support officially the Z3+ and so the cost is really high. I searched enough on the internet and i think it is where the vibration is but i cannot confirm it. I also see it all the time because i simply know it is right there. At my case, there are other 2 spots but not seen so easy.
I only hope not to get bigger. I wish i knew what caused this so to be carefull (such as sun exposure or something else - although i am REALLY careful as a person with my mobile phones). I cannot help you and i got really dissapointed after my long search on the web so i will have to live with that. It is hardware problem as i really tried everything to find out that.
Hope someone has any solution. It is not only on our phone but to others too. I hope the post won't get lost after some days!

That's so weird, I thought it was caused by an anonymous fall that I wasn't aware of, the other point is barely noticeable but it's at the top left.
Also, my upper speakers started to produce mixed loud and faint sounds when i play something whike the volume is below 25%.
It's winter, and I usually text near heatrrs, which made me think that the speakers problem was caused by the heater and the screen problem was caused by a particular fall.
Since the warranty is useless I've manually disassembled the phone and there's nothing behind that spot of screen except battery, the vibrator is way below the navkeys, there's no screen on the other side of it, which actually seems to prove that our spots are similar by coincidence, because there's no pressure on the other side except for battery, and I highly doubt yours is faulty, because mine isn't.
My z3+ single sim also has the spot at the same place, but it isnt that noticable since i use auto brightness, really weird, i thought because maybe of accidental high press when the phone was in my pocket.Anyway, I'll switch to XZ premium in december, that sh*t is dope
On the top left corner i have too! So it is not a coincidence. Something is there that you couldn't see when you opened it. I only hope it doens't get worse..
I have it too not only there also in the right bottom corner and a line of 1 centimeters like 1 inch bow in the left upper corner one day was not in there and to the other plaff they appear

I might open if again when I can't live with it anymore, but for now I'll try to enjoy it as it's new, and hopefully won't get worse.
I have a z3 and z4 that also have these white spots..no way to fix. look up tv lcd problems your not gonna be able to fix....it gonna keep me from buying anymore sonys till they switch to oled.
I have the same problem in the same position and it was happen after a warranty repair.... Sony didn't have noticed it....
