Tilt to P.C. via Bluetooth: uses & benefits? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Newbie question here. I just got a tiny Bluetooth adapter for my P.C. & I want to know what you guys are using it for. So what are the practical uses for connecting to your P.C. via Bluetooth?
List away guys...

File transfer and printing. Although I haven't tried the printing part out yet.

While travelling it's great to be able to use my laptop anywhere and access the web via bluetooth to the phone with "internet sharing". I have the unlimited data plan and this saves me the daily connect fees from a hotel.

Wireless Camera transfer to Pocket PC

hi
I spent allot of time searching the net for a wireless camera (for security purposes) that has the ability to transfer live video to my Qtek2020i which is wireless enabled.
I am not looking for an IP cam, I dont want to view the video by connecting to GPRS, I want my pocket pc to find the camera as a wireless access point and using some software I want to see the video from that camera, is there anything like that?
all of the wireless cameras I found has a reciever device to connect to TV or VCR and this is not what I want, and the others has the capability to send the video to internet and by accessing the site from the PDA you can see the video, this is also unwanted for me.
so please tell me if there is such a cam and how to buy it and how much, I really need such a product for controlling my office while I am moving in the building, my job includes moving allot to different offices, so I need to check if anyone mess around in my office during my absence directly. i dont want to record then watch, I need something live !
thanks
There is. But you sound muddled about what you want.
You can get WI-FI 802.11b IP webcam's with built-in webserver. Like the Axis 206W. Google it.
You wont need GPRS/WAP connection just a WI-FI connection. This would be only a short distance view on your office. If you need long distance then you really need to use GPRS.
I dont know if this combo works but in theory it should.
You'll never find something integrated; what you need is a simple IP camera AND one/some wi-fi access point.
Btw, if your goal is to get real-time notification of fellon while he is messing, it is enough to set the IP camera to send you e-mail when some activiy is detected. Almost all IP camera have this capability built in.
I have some experience, my company operates in IP based video surveillance systems and I bought my wizard expressely to use it as portable monitor (using gprs only when wi-fi is not accessible).
Ask for more, if needing.

View Commander for pocket PC
I run a Panasonic BB-HCM331 IP camera.
To connect I have attached to a Wireless client device via the ethernet port.
This in turn connects to my wireless router.
Allocate one of your public IP addresses to the camera this will keep it off your network. Then input this ip address into View Commander and Hey Ho you have a transportable wireless IP cam. Great for watching your garden in the Pub.
Demo available at www.cccamera.co.uk.
Bonus this is Pan Tilt and Zoom. Even works over GPRS
Cheers

Internet on Laptop via kaiser!

Hello everybody..!I'm wondering how can i make my kaiser(tytn2) phone to connect my laptop to the Internet. What i want to say is that i have a Router on my desktop pc, so i go to my laptop and connect my tytn2 with the laptop via usb(activesync).I want to make laptop to connet to the internet via tytn2!So i want tytn2 to replace a wireles card that i could connect to my laptop via WiFi with this card!Someone who know the way to do it?
It's called tethering. Be careful of usage...if you don't pay for the tethering plan, many providers will charge you for going over a predetermined amount of data transfer. Used sparingly they'll never know.

I guess he wants to use Wifi, not mobile connnection. So, use the phone as a USB Wifi adapter...
I use WMWiFiRouter and it works very well. It creates a wireless access point that uses your phones data connection and requires no cords to tether. It even allows you to share your connection with more than one computer.

Using Diamond with Car-PC via bluetooth?

Hi there,
I got a car-pc since a while and have been using my sony ericsson with it... calls get transferred via bluetooth to the computer, as like phonebook in integrated into the car-pc software... all transmitted via bluetooth...
Now with the diamond, how do i set it up as a phone? winXP doesnt recognize other services than the moden funxtion
you should enable Remote SIM access on you Diamond: Start -settings - connections bluetooth SIM acces and also activate the service for your BT connection (do this in the first tab of the BT settings dialogue after connectig)
already done :-( But the Computer doesn't list other functions than modem for the HTC
Do i need any drivers for XP? Usually not...
Using Diamond & CarPC Via Internet sharing over BT
I have a CarPC in my car, it has a 7" touch screen & it is running WinXP and have built in Bluetooth. So for surfing in the internet , MSN, Skype in my car over the carpc i am using my HTC Diamond with the Internet Sharing icon and connecting it via Bluetooth to the carPC so i get FAST Internet over Bluetooth between my carpc and my HTC Diamond.
It works very good - very stable.
Matter of fact it is "capturing" my 3G Internet and pass it over Bluetooth to the carpc.
Solution works very well.
k, but i am not interested in using it as internet connection, i want to phone via the computers hardware, so the car-pc should act as an headset... besides that, he shoult be able to access the adress book and to begin calls... that for, i neeed 2 comports emulated, but how to create them?
could it be because the device is seen as a PDA, and not as a mobile phone?
I know somewhere here on XDA there is a reg hack for earlier devices to make them appear as a mobile phone to car kits. maybe the same thing will help here. I don't know where it is, can only suggest searching, unless anyone else can point you in the right direction....
I used to have PhoneConnector on my CarPC, with PhocoAdapter on the phone. It worked, but now this software is not supported anymore and unfortunately it does not work with WM6.
Freefone is not compatible either.
My good Blackbaron, I believe we users of CarPCs and Windows Mobile are scr...d!
By the way, sharing the 3G connection workds a treat, by USB, BT, Wifi... I just wish Vodafone would allow other ports than port 80
I still didnt realize what 3G is... ^^ I never owned a ppc before...
Well, on the CarPC the internet speed is as great as a DSL line, here is France I measured it at more than 3.5 MB/s (KS20 is limited to 4 MB/s with HSDPA, who knows why). Coming from the crappy Edge Motorola phone I had before, the browsing is truly amazingly fast!

1) Launch the Internet Sharing application on your phone (all WM6 phones have it)
2) Select your 3G connection, and BT or USB, tap "Connect"
3) USB: have ActiveSync installed on the PC, connect the USB cable, it's done.
4) BT: you have to set up a BT PAN hosted from your phone, add your PC to it, it's done.
5) If your provider uses a proxy, setup Firefox to use it (Tools/Options/Advanced/Network)
6) If your provider has a filter on User Agent, then you need the plug-in "User Agent Switcher", to put the same User Agent string as on your phone.
There you go!

sharing my desktop internet TO my diamond?

hi,
Is it possible to share my desktop computer's LAN internet connection to my phone?(via bluetooth?)
I already have a bluetooth dongle for my pc and I have a personal area network under network connections..
Remember, I need to *send* internet from my desktop to the phone, not the other way around.
Also, I have a separate laptop without an internet connection but 802.11 b/g WLAN, can I connect to the diamond to share files wirelessly?
Thanks so much
you can share internet TO your Diamond using activesync, and if you have a infinate amount of patience, in theory you can connect Activesync via Bluetooth (its in the options, and microshaft says it works, but i have tried with 4 different PPCs, and never have made it work).
As for the file sharing, you would need to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which i have no idea how to do
Interesting, I'll try that.
But is'nt there a way I can make a network adapter for my diamonds bluetooth and then have it accept the personal network connection on my desktop?
It seems this feat is possible with symbian phones and an app called gnubox which *takes* internet from a computer via bluetooth.
Thanks so much.
yes they call it PAN
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=InternetOverBluetoothNetwork
the instructions on that page is wrong.
Theres no Network cards under Settings>Connections!
hey, the active sync sharing works! =P I'm quite happy with it!!!
Btw, you can also try connecting activesync via bluetooth with shared internet. Seems to work ok for browsing but not for WL messenger.
Also, Wifi network is way more easier to setup.

Hotel wifi - send to a laptop without wifi

This is a fairly newbie question, and I know it was covered when the software was being developed for the Hermes. I used it then, but now cannot remember the name of it or find a reference to it anywhere on the forum. It isnt easy to search on such a small screen either, so apologies for taking the short route.
My hotel offers free wifi. I can connect to this wifi using my Kaiser. I want to browse the internet on a large display, ie my old Thinkpad. I connect my Kaiser to the laptop via USB and select internet sharing on the Kaiser, but only get options for sharing my 3G/GPRS connection, not the hotels Wifi. Where aren't I looking?!
Can I just make clear I am not talking about using my Kaiser as a wireless router.
WMWifiRouter can connect your Kaiser from:
- Cellular to Wifi
- Cellular to USB
- Cellular to Bluetooth
- Wifi to USB
- USB to Wifi
on your Thinkpad
I hope that helps
