Screen Protectors - Mogul, XV6800 Accessories

What do you guys use / recommend for screen protectors and cleaners?

I use the protectors from ShieldZone. Nothing comes close.
I bought mine through a deal I found on Slickdeals (it's about to expire!)
Check here for info: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=184771&t=712921&highlight=shield

My favorites are the "crystal clear" type from ppcTechs:

have you tried the front and side protector from shieldzone?

i too would be interested in what you use, i.e. just the screen protector or the front and side protectors.
If you have used the front and side protectors could you describe what the coverage is like?
and i have heard that that brand makes it hard to use the stylis, have you had that experience as well?

hmm might have to post pictures of this one...
ordered today 2/2/08 with 50% off via slickdeals. I got them for my mogul and my Panasonic Toughbook cf-19. [bad ass they had one for it.] Cant wait to see if this product stands up to it's advertised quality.

Are those shield zone one's like clearview? are they hard to the touch like screen material itself? i dont like the ones that are soft and sort of compress when you hit with the stylus

so did you get just the screen protectors or the front and side covers as well? I would love to see close ups of the front and side protector. cant seem to find any info or pics of them anywhere.

i got just the screen protector... it is nice, but tricky to get on at first. i don't really notice it when using the stylus. in some light i see a orange peal like affect. since it took me about three tries to get it in position and all the air bubles out there it isn't perfectly clean on the unexposed side. but it works.

Just order it at brando. To my opinion the best there are. Ultra clear is the one I like the most.

Search for exim spuc or exim spoc on ebay. They're hard screen protectors that are residue free, and almost scratch-proof, stylus and pocket-wise thinking. (I don't think its as scratch proof as the invisible shield protectors, but isn't soft like a cushioning effect as with invisible shield) They also block out UV rays, making it easier on the eyes in direct sunlight. I've been using it ever since the first of my phone days (Sony Ericsson S700i, Nokia E60i, Nokia E61i, AT&T Tilt, HTC Tytn II, 2x Moguls)
One tip is to put it on in a dust free room...if dust gets on the application side of the protector, use some scotch tape to remove it. Works wonders.

How is the anti-glare in the sun? I am curious as I am looking for a new one.
Debating the clear vs anti-glare as I use my phone a good bit outside...
Any updates on any other screen protectors?

JavoScreen claims to be quite effective.
Here's a recent video shootout of leading screen protectors.
I don't recall which brand of antiglare screen I use; it was one of the most expensive ones, and comes with a camel's hair brush. In any event, it does the job EXCEPT in bright sunlight, when it's helpless. I'm thinking that a slip-on polarizer would be welcomed for bright sun.

best ive used
i think this is the same one i last bought, and its the best yet.

i have tried many, and this one is the best.
no bubbles, perfect fit, and dosnt screw up the screen when removed. i attached a scan of the packaging mine came in below

tought id chime in..
i have had the oem crappy flimsy one for a while now..
was going to buy 3 from ebay for $7 free shipping..
kept on forgetting to go and buy them.. so I walked into verizon... no sprint stores on my walk through philly.... and bought the blackberry universal kit... $10.66 with tax... tell you what.. they are nice and thick....
you can hold it at the corner and it will not bend!!!!
also has a grid for you to cut...
went on super easy.. 0 bubbles... none... and im loving it...

Love the Diamond, But the screen????

Is it just me not being careful enough with my diamond?
Because it does not take much for my screen to get scratched.
Compared to my htc touch, there is a big difference.
I already needed to buy a tube to try and polish the scratches out.
Waiting for my screen protector to arrive and hope its better then the one from brando because i had to wash it and then i just never got it clean again.
could not get the fingerprints of it and always left some water stains (even when i use a blow dryer)
This is the only thing which disappoints me and also surprises me!
Anyone els noticed this?
didnt u get a oem screen protector in the box?
as posted just now: haven't you applied the screen protector, since this is a different type of screen then your previous phone there is a reason it is being shipped with a screen protector!
I ordered a thicker screen protector when I placed my order. No scratch what so ever and the phone is almost all the time accompanied with my keys or lighter ...
I did get it but i messed it up by accident...
and i also received one with my htc touch but i did not need one for that phone.
it did not scratch that easily.
So because of this i thought i would not need to order a new one, now i see i was wrong.

Where did you get a thicker one? I have the one that came in the box on my Diamond just now which seems fine - but I also messed up when putting it on and its slightly squint. I would like to get a replacement - but the HTC store are only currently selling them in packs of 6!

HI,
I've managed to get a few small scratches on mine.
Can't think how. I always carry it on it's own in a soft pocket - the same pocket I used for my old Orbit 2 and Orbit & Jamin before it etc... none of which ever scratched.
Was even being careful while I waited for a better screen protector...
Seems to scrtach quite easily...
So, does anyone have any ideas on how to minimise effect of/repair small scratches? There are plenty of solutions for plastic screens but I can't find any reliable advice for the Diamond (or the iPhone for that matter - I searched for iPhone as it has a similar hard glass screen and has been around longer)...
All ideas welcome!
Thanks.
The screen protector looks exactly the same as those bundled with Vario II and III and I must say it's rubbish. I bought 2 from Taiwan or China on ebay for a quid inc. shipping and they are a bit thicker and they don't descrease the quality of colours as the standard ones.

Stupid screen protectors and Air Bubbles

So I had my original Att screen protector on my tilt for over 3 months..then this week I went to the tmobile store and bought screen protectors cuz mine was old and wear and tear set in. Come to find out when I get home and unbox it...its the kind that's not alrdy fitted for the phone screen and you have to cut it out and size it yourself..theirs a reason why like 15 screen pro's come in the box...I nearly went through the whole box trying to use scissors and cutting and itting the stupid things myself...I shoulda went to ATT cuz I think their screen pro's come fitted for touchscreens. Anyway after finally fitting it to my tilts screen..I got another problem, Air f#*king bubbles!....anybody have this issue and figured out how to put on screen pro's without stupid air bubbles?
use a card (credit card, atm, license) and smooth it out little by little when applying
works perfectly for me
The screen protector that came with my Tilt isn't EXACTLY the same size of the screen. I managed to put it on as soon as I had it in my hand (still in-store before paying the guy). The bottom of the screen looks perfect, but at the top of the screen there is a gap of uncovered screen about the 1/16th of an inch. Doesn't bother me though...
The best thing you can do to avoid air bubbles is to buy a quality, reusable screen protector. I bought mine 9 months ago from DayDeal.com, and it still works great. Since it not that super thin plastic, it goes on without any air bubbles. Well worth the $15.
I have ordered the Invisible Shield from http://www.zagg.com/
Haven't got it yet, so I can't share any personal experience, but this was highly recommended on a norwegian PDA forum.
Wow, my screen protector is on it's 10th month and it looks as good as the day I put it on. And it's a $5 cheapy one from Pocket Solutions.
I have been using the JavoScreen Ultra Clear screen protectors for a few years no, and have been very happy. They are completely removable, washable, replaceable without leaving residue; and they do not trap bubbles. Once applied, you literally cannot tell that it's there! They are a few more dollars than some other similar brands, but they are IMHO the best.
I've just given up on them. The glass feels better without one.
squeeze the big ones out by just pushing them off to the side with your fingers. the smaller ones should go away after a few days use.
on a side note, my screen protector that came with the phone SHIFTED somehow, and i cant move it back (well i dont want to peel it off and restick it). odd.

You guys will probably think I'm nuts, but I swear by WriteShield product from PocketPCtechs. Expensive, but worth it. The plastic they use is superior, it's absolutely crystal clear, and it's cut perfectly to fit.
I've experimented with other cheaper products that didn't last or didn't fit right. I've tried the cut-them-yourself products (boxwave) and they didn't work out right for me either. I went right back to the WriteShield and no worries.
At one time, I thought to myself that spending so much on screen protectors was nuts, and what they charge for shipping added insult to injury, but then I put it into perspective. What's it worth to protect a $600 machine? What's it worth to not have to be without the machine while I have my screen serviced and what would the combined cost of the hardware labor and inconvenience be?
I've used them on every PDA I've owned and I'll never look back. I have yet to find a better product out there.

Hi,
Someone can say me if WriteShield Screen Protector fit exactly the screen size of the Kaiser without leaving some screen surface unprotected ? Or which one fit exactly the screen's size ?
Thanks in advance

Plus, don't use a card to squeeze out the large bubbles -- I did this once and ended up with scratch marks. Just use your fingers, and the small ones should vanish with time.

HD2 case with wallet functions

Ive seen a few HD2 case threads about and had a good look through but has anyone come across a HD2 case that could has a wallet function? Nothing too spectactular, just holds a couple of cards and a few bank notes.
Easecase do these on ebay. I have the E2 version on order.
http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/WiWay...18QQ_sidZ149381558QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

Thanks guys,
any chance of a mini review?
Well in brief (I have the E4 case) it cost every penny. After near 3 months of usage with 3 cards in it - simply flawless. It arrived to Eastern Europe in 14 days after was made with registered mail.
I wonder if this would fit, it looks nice and I really need to carry with only one package (phone + ID and some money). I was looking at the dimensions and it states it is 125 x 60 x 15mm, HD2 being 120.5 x 67 x 11 mm.
Looking at the picture you can see that the phone holds with a stretching band, noly thing I am worried about is the HD2 protuding on the side making the wallet difficult to close.
What do you guys think, does any one got it? Do you know of any good alternatives (do not say piel frama cause I already saw it and did not like the way it holds the HD2, some leather in front of the hd2 for holding).
Thanks guys!.

It looks promising, as long as I dont use it for money+cards.
I dont want to be flashing my bank cards every time, I use my phone!
Otherwise, I like the way phone can be kept inside the clear sleave.
I've had similar cases and putting anything such as cards or SD cards will eventually scratch the screen. I would stay away from any case that exposes the cards to the screen.

I'm sure they do. But in my experience, EVERY phone I've had with a glass screen, I didn't use a screen protector, and they have NEVER gotten a scratch on them. and this is with the occasional drop, and the sometimes forgetful put in pocket with keys.
Plastic screens definitely need a screen protector. but my iPhone was fine, my Hero was fine, and my HD2 is still fine.

I've cracked the screen on my htc blueangel. Although it's glass, there are delicate layers above it...

A screen protector, I believe, is for avoiding scratches. Screen cracks are an "act of God" and can not be avoided with a screen protector.
Correct me if I am wrong.
(I will add I have thought about it once or twice, but never bought a screen protector in my life).
I have this wallet - for less than £4 - and it's perfect. Absolutely the best phone accessory I've ever had. And I'm sure it will last the 1 -2 years I have my phone, by which point I'll need a new phone wallet!
eBay
I should add I can fit 6/7 cards in it, plus a few notes, and it doubles up as a horizontal stand for films etc.

To clarify, I was referencing my cracked screen to be glass that had layers above it that was scratched by things as a stylus and cards.
But, with the HD2, it's very hard to tell if there are layers above the glass. I've read there are videos of people trying to scratch it, but can't because the top layer is glass. In any case, I am not in a hurry to buy a screen protector, but at the same time I don't intend on buying a case with card holders in front of the screen.

Do you have problems with swiping the slider and reaching the far left and right selections? The leather boarder on the screen prevents me from reaching the far left and right.

Actually, those pockets wouldn't be a bad idea, but for different reasons. I have a leather case like that for my other pda and use it as a shield for the screen by cutting an old card and hide it inside the pocket.
I plan to modify my new case by stitching a pocket to the cover and slipping an aluminum plate inside it.

alright, I got my swiss bank wallet with PDA holder on it today, I must say it is definetively made for a iphone seized pda BUT, the HD2 fit perfectly, no protruding on sides or on top, it holds the hd2 very thightly, 4 cards (bank platified cards) and 4 big bills (euros, and I mean big cause they are bigger in size than dollars). It closes thight and only doubles thickness size the hd2... I just did my first shopping and did not have any problems taking cards out. I must say though, you will only be able to fit about 4 cards (only ver essencial ones) and some bills. Now I only need someone to call me when I am out on the street to tell you if you can easily take out the hd2 to answer the call... Bad thing it took about 2 weeks for the wallet to arrive, I think it was fault of customs importorting taxes. Anyway, I think I will try it for some days (at work) and post an update soon. Happy searching.

Invisible shield HD2

just finished installing my new invisible shield on my HD2. during the process of installing the it, phone did seem to get a bit wet so im going to follow the advice to let it dry out for out 12 to 24 hours before turning it back on. the process of applying the shield is different compared to ones i have bought before. now a small package with a sponge is included and instead of a squeegee a installation card is used which i feel works much better to take out the small bubbles after. the shield fits just right covering the screen and a little extra beyond that. if anything i will update once i have let it dry out a bit and report back on how the screen reacts to the shield being on it and the screen sensitivity to touch.
What version did you buy? I have the Maximum Protection coming in the mail. I am just wondering what the difference between Full body and Maximum Protection is.
Not so good
Hi all,
I bought the IS full body for HD2 and I'm very disappointed! It's called full body but there are just too many open spots. I had my first IS on my I900, and the full body covered everything except the camera lens, volume and camera keys, and the call keys. The HD2 is covered, but I won't call it full body because the Omnia was better covered. Those who installed it know what I'm talking about, for example on the back of the phone, between the cover and both the upper and lower part, you have some space, on the side, where the volume buttons are, the upper part (when you put the phone with the screen up) is not covered, and the half of the bottom, where the 3.5 jack and usb socket are, is not covered. There are other spots, hard to define, and most of all, when after taking all the bubbles away, some liquid is still there and guess what it will turn into when dry? Yeah, bubbles...
I wanted to ask .. does the full Invisible shield of the HD2 ( screen and the back ) better or the just back only ??
I mean does the Invisible shield of the screen will reduce the sensitive of the touch on the screen ??
please because I want to buy it so which one I buy
just back or the both ??
you can only buy
front - for the display
or
full body kit - for the display and 3 cut pieces for the back
yes, the one for the front will reduce the sensitivity compared to without one.
after the installation it sucks, but getting better each day.
after a few days it is ok, also to use swype for instance, without any problems.
so the full body kit is absolutely great, and i never will use a mobile device without such a nice protection.
I just bought one on ebay
Look at item, 180488642102 (can't post links since I rarely reply on the forum)
Installation was a breeze and much quicker than a zagg and in my opinion a cleaner look. My buddy wanted one, but didn't want to use their screen protector, so I asked if they would just sell the pieces for the housing. They said yes and all you have to do is buy the screen protector, item 170466295030 and put in the order notes that you want the housing pieces only. I would send them a note first.
This should save some $$$ and you could get the housing protector for around $6.

I believe that is why they have the New Maximum Protection for the T-mobile HD2. I cant confirm until I receive the one I purchased either Monday or Tuesday. According to the description I thought it said that the maximum protection is supposed to cover virtually everything you would wanna protect and is able to be stretched to cover the extra parts.
I got the phantomskinz the same price as invisible shield, you get 2 of the skins, & comes in matte option!!

thank you
so you advise me to buy it better than the normal Protector like in amazon (Premium Crystal Clear LCD Screen Protector for HTC HD2 ) and it is 5 Pack and 5$ ... but the Invisible shield HD2 24$
Go to zagg.com and see the difference between the two.. The invisibleshield material is stuff that they use on helicopter blades. You cannot scratch it... The cheap stuff on ebay will easily be scuffed and eventually tear..
I've seen some reviews on Zagg's stuff and the screen protector is usually too thick and 'grips' your finger as you try to slide on the screen. Don't know if that's still the case but I went with Bodyguardz again since it was decent on my TP2.

Is there somebody who can upload a picture of his HD2 with an Invisible shield on it? Especially the corners.
The HD2 screen is already quite scratch resistant, yes?
well been using the invisble shield on my hd2 for the past day or so and i must say, im not sure if its because of the way i applied it or because it just simply made this way but iv have enjoyed having it on. i dont see absoulutly any hazyness as mentioned before, on my screen. the screen still work great just barely have to touch the screen for it to register my touch. yes u can feel the shield on but, depending on wether u have ur fingers clean or dirty does it make a diffrence when ur using it and how it feels when sliding ur fingers on the screen. also i have noticed i clean the screen less often from dirt and the oil from ur hands, so u get to see less finger smudges on the screen to. also ever since i have the protection on i handle the phone a little more loosely and freely when pulling it out of my pocket. one more thing. for those who have a tmobile hd2 which i do. if u have noticed when u look at the screen mostly during the day in sunlight u can see just barely small dots and lines arranged all over the screen. i can tell they were made to be on the screen because there arranged in a specific order kinda like to register commands and i have noticed that i can just barely see them now with the shield on. makes the screen a lil clearer. i would highly recommended it. this isnt my first device i have applyed the shield on but it certanitly is the device i have been most satisfied with it being on because of its look feel and protection. hope this helps u guys decided on wether to get it or not. also as a last note i only have the screen cover on so i cant comment on the full protection or apparently the new "maximum coverage" shield

I ordered my Maximum Protection on Wednesday and I am hoping to get it on Monday or Tuesday (and I paid for 2 day Air), I am going to most likely only apply the body pieces and not use the screen protection itself since the glass is really durable if you look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcEaehKWr2s and I love the sensitivity of my screen and I know on my Mom's Pre and now her Droid eris as well as my brothers Droid eris, the screen is far from as sensitive once you apply the invisible shield. I will however stick with the product because I love there protection and how it gives you a tacky feeling that make me feel allot more secure with my phone in hand. I will also be taking some pictures and possible a quick video of the Invisible Shield on my device after it is applied (I am still debating if I want to pay Best Buy $7 to apply it for me lol)
This shield is perfect!
Hi,
My husband and I use the invisible shield from ZAGG. And not the full body, because it isn't really full. We have to protect and to see from the outside whos device it is. Skins from ZAGG... this is great. Easy to stick it on and it stays perfectly on. No sticky edges or something. I post some photos in this reply. The skins from ZAGG are perfect...
And we can separate the devices and won't take the wrong device to our work. (at 7.00a.m.)
The invisibleSHIELD is easy installed, but you need a lot of patience and a soft piece of fabric (don't know the right word! Doekje in dutch )
And keep your fingers wet! (oops! 1 picture of our cats!!! ) The pictures are made by the HTC HD2 (european version)

+1 for phantomskinz...I have been using them for awhile on all of my phones.
I have tried zagg and BSE as well and I think the phantomskinz have the least amount of "orange peel" effect and I have noticed zero reduced sensitivity from having it on there.
If you check around on sites like www.retailmenot.com...you can usually find some good coupon codes to save even more money.
...still trying to figure out why they give you two complete sets...not that im complaining, but I upgrade so often...I have never used the 2nd skin for any of the phones I have
On the package, they recommend dipping the skin in a bowl of warm soapy water to apply...I have always had better results using a small spray bottle with the warm soapy water to spray the skin, and using a small bowl to just dip my fingers in.
As an application tip...I have learned that applying them in the bathroom after someone has taken a shower dramatically reduced the chance of airborn dust settling on the phone while you are applying them...just remember to use warm soapy water, keep your fingers nice and wet, lots of clean paper towels or a lint free cloth, and a spare phone to use while drying.
Also...the edges that you have to fold over can be tricky to get down if the skin is still wet. After you get the large flat areas secured down...use a hair dryer and blow dry the adhesive side of the skin to dry it out a bit. the heat also makes the skin much more flexable and easier to shape to the contours of the phone.
Cheers
I have used the 'full-body' protection Invisible Shield, and must say that I am not very pleased with it. The salesperson asked for about 40% of the price to help me apply it. And I figured I could do a job as well as some aunty, and so I did !
And found myself looking at Not-So-Invisible-Shield. There're 3 specks of dust that wouldn't come out even after I unpeeled it and used the sponge provided to scrub it. ANYWAY, the IS doesn't seem to change the sensitivity of the screen much, but it certainly does increase the friction, so swpye-ing might feel a little odd. But I am overall pleased with the product and protection.

[Q] screen protector for lumia 930/icon

Has anyone used a tempered glass screen protector for this phone, I know it doesn't cover the whole screen, just wanted to know what people think about it. I've already ordered 3 pieces from different suppliers to see the differences, and whether it goes well on the phone.
id be interested to know if you get a good 1 cause ive bought the mobilefun version and it failed bad i got a full refund within 10mins of applying it. so cross that off your list lol

I get them all from china, from some of the suppliers.
once i'll posted the results, and if it's positive, i'll see if I can ask the supplier or shop to put some online.
Update
Apprently I received the 3 glass protectors today, and i'm completely disappointed with them, it seems like glass protectors are out, i'm using my old pet A.R.M station one now which seems to fit the best so far, apart from the sides about 3 mm, the whole of the surface is covered, may be i'll try something like invisible shield next.
There isn't point in posting photo's, it's a waste of time.:fingers-crossed:

Thanks for the experience anyways.
I'd also say get one with wet apply, if you live in europe Invisishields are by far the best I think, at least in Germany others like Skinomis are really expensive to ship. I got myself an Invisishield, and it's really good so far. It covers up the whole area, except for an extremely tiny part which is good since it doesn't get loose on the edges. The only thing I don't really like about it is the feel, it's a bit rubbery, but I guess that's due to the type and in normal use it doesn't really bother me.

I've actually used invisibleshield before, the rubbery surface will wear out, and it will discolour overtime, but it's our only option for better protection.
Off topic Q: have you used the official flip case CP-637, i'm interested in the green one to compliment my green phone, but thinking the green will get very dirty quickly, so do you think the black is a better option.
checking out a few screen protectors from ebay
invisble phone guard
front and back and sides USD 19
extreme guard
front and back USD 10
screenknight
front and back USD 14.50
not available from invisible shield.
they are all very cheap, do you know if they are all the same.
update:
I got the xtreme guard from their site, it was more expensive at USD 10.99, then shipping on top which was about USD 6, from ebay it's USD 10 with shipping, but found on the internet a 85% off discount, so I purchased 2 sets which adds upto USD 9.17.
good saving
