Hi, right now i use my mda mobile 5 (molski edition) wifi only. so the question is this if i change my home settings on my computer from wep, to wpa will i be able to connect my mda. I have tried it before but it did not work, so i am hoping i did something wrong.
The Wizard supports WPA-Enterprise and WPA-PSK authentication with TKIP Encryption, with an updated driver it supports WPA2-Enterprise & WPA2-PSK as well as AES Encryption. I think the latest WM5 AKU 3.3 from T-Mobile supports this natively as well (i.e. the driver is already integrated).
I have personally used WPA/TKIP and now WPA2/AES with my latest WM6 ROM and I have had no problems.

Thx. I just did it. One day i won't be so green.

Hi
Known problem in these AKU 3.x ROMs. Softreset the BA (with turned on wifi). Then it should work. If not, your wifi-settings are wrong. Try first with non secured wifi-connection, then increase the security step by step.

I've been having issues with this as well. Besides the AKU 3.0 issues, you also need to make sure that both the wifi connection and the email account are set to use the same connection to the net. The choices are usually "The internet" and "Work".
Is there anyone that's upgraded to WM2005 using a Spectec WiFi card?
My BA has inbuilt WiFI (802.11b) but I need 802.11g.
Spectec suggest it only works with a few WM2005 PDA's. Is anyone actually using the Spectec SDW-821 & WM2003 to access 802.11g networks. I would consider downgrading to WM2003 but only if I am sure I will get 802.11g.
Do I need to disable the inbuilt 802.11b network adapter before the Spectec will work? I am using the latest driver.
Eureka Blue Angel can connect to 802.11g networks

It turned out that a new driver was issued by Spectec on the 14th October. Much more joy with this driver (wlan11g206.cab). They still don't provide a WLAN utility for WM5 but it works with the WM5 WiFi manager.
After a bit of playing around (could have been removing encryption and then adding back after first connection) I can now connect to my router when it is set to g networks only. Currently only using WEP encryption as my router doesn't offer anything else. The driver has authentication as:
Open
Shared
WPA
WPA-PSK
WPA2
WPA2-PSK
Encryption can be:
Disabled
WEP
TKIP
AES
I believe LEAP & PEAP is also available for those that are interested.
I will try WPA-PSK and TKIP next week at work and provide an update (UPDATE connected to WPA-PSK TKIP MAC filtered network first time although it disconnects quite frequently. It stays connected longer if I stream wmv files via WiFi but it still disconnects after say 10 minutes. the signal strength is EXCELLENT and much better than my home network. Any ideas why the very strong signal WPA-PSK MAC filtered network should disconnect more frequently than my weak signal WEP encrytped (none MAC filtered) network?)
Please note I want 802.11g for security not for added speed.
Note the inbuilt network adapter is set to off in Wireless LAN Manager.
i cannot connect to my work wireless...
The ssid is hidden and the netwok is using 802.1x EAP Cisco (Leap) with data encription wep.
My laptop works fine, but i cannot connect my wizard.

Did you ever get an answer. I am trying to get a LEAP connection too! any info would be great.
Goto Junpier.net and search for Odyssey Client. You can register for a free 10 day trial. It's the same client that came on the Dell Axim. My company uses the same thing, and I've had sucess with it under WM5. A couple of small tips when installing. I've noticed if you deactivate the phone first, you have better luck with the program. Also, it seems that under WM6, I haven't been as lucky with the problem.
I've been running 6.1 ROM (Official) now for a month or so and am using a program on my Tilt that uses a lot of data...so while I'm at home I thought I would allow it to use my WiFi router instead of my 3G connection.
I turned on the WiFi and it can "see" my router's SSID. I enter the WPA-TKIP passcode and tell it to connect. It just sits there saying "connecting to network" but never completes the connection to acquire it's IP.
I have even gone as far as setting the IP configuration manually (Static IP) and the TILT keeps trying to connect to the network.
I have a DLink DI-624 that I have had no problems connecting the WiFi when I was running ROM 6.0.
I have done the following in trying to troubleshoot:
- Turned OFF Turbo on the Router
- Configured router for AutoChannel
- Configured TILT for Best Performance
- Rebooted Router AND TILT.
Still no go...Ideas?
I sometimes get this after flashing a new rom. It seems to affect the way it connects to WPA networks but not WEP or unsecured.
You can try changing your security to WEP and see if that works.
But when I need to solve this I usually have to do a Hard Reset and then connect the WIFI first. When it does this the phone seems to be able to auto-detect the network type (i.e without me needing to select it as WPA) and after entering the passcode it can connect.
Yep, go to WEP, this should be enough for most people and has never given me a problem.

Unfortunately I can't change my network to WEP. My network is not only my home network but also used for my wife's business...so for security reasons I have to keep the security up.
Drop the security just for a test and see what happens.
I am using the official ATT 6.1 ROM and it works just fine on my wifi, first with WPA-PSK then with WPA2-PSK. You could set your WAP to WEP (say that fast 3 times!) for a 5 minute test and see if it connects. Does your phone connect to other Wifi hot spots? What does ministumbler say about wifi in your area? You may have some interference with a neighbors wifi.
Well...I know that my issue is not limited to my router at home (DLink DI-624). I'm experiencing the SAME issues at work as well.
At work I'm using a NetGear WGT624 v3.
- The security is WPA-PSK (TKIP)...just like at home.
- Broadcasting SSID on Channel 11 (Fixed). There are no routers in nearby offices (I've checked using a wifi scanner on my laptop).
- I've configured a static IP in my Tilt and it just sits there at Connecting...again same as what happens at my house.
- I have also tried using DHCP with no joy.
I'll try the WEP at home to see if it's a WEP/WPA issue.
Unfortunately if it IS an issue...I don't think I'm going to get much joy from HTC on releasing a fix. Maybe there will be some way around it though...I hope!
Make sure you use the correct authentication: Use Smart Card or Certificate. That fixed mine

Here is what I have set in my TILT...
Connects to: The Internet
Hidden network: NOT checked
Ad-Hoc: Unselectable (Grey)
Auth: WPA-PSK
Encry: TKIP
Use IEEE: Grey (Non-Selectable)
EAP: Grey (Non-Selectable...but Smartcard or Certificate IS in the box)
(Still at work...will test WEP when I get home)
(I'm home)
Ok...Now I know for SURE that this is a WPA issue with the TILT running the AT&T ROM 6.1 (Official).
I changed my home router from WPA-PSK (TKIP) to WEP.
Made the needed changes in my TILT to change it from WPA to WEP and entered the correct key.
* IT CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER! Whoo Hoo.
I change nothing in the router except from WEP back to WPA and again I'm stuck at "connecting" on the TILT.
Ideas?

Is a backing up everything and doing a hard reset too much hassle? Make sure you connect to a WPA Wifi first before installing any other programs. Its the only way I could fix it... =/ As recommended I always do another hard reset straight after flashing a new rom now.
Hey...someone...somewhere has mentioned that there might be a WPA issue in relation to removing the AT&T Bloat. Is there anything to this? I HAVE removed my bloat on my Tilt.
I don't want to have to re-Hard my Tilt...but will if I have to...but only as last resort.
What fixed with my DI-624
I found that I had to upgrade to the newest ROM from D-Link. (I had original ROM from 5 years ago.) I found that the PSK password (using WPA2) could NOT contains shift-numbers such as $, %, #. I converted the symbols to numbers (and letters)and it works fine now. I have had no problems since.

My home router is a DI-624 Rev E. The ONLY Firmware for the E Rev is 5.00 and I'm running it.
Even though not completely secure...my WPA password is a 20 character, lower case entry...no strange characters or whatever.
*Well folks...I had just installed the 6.1 Rom onto my Tilt about a month ago...so I don't have that much installed...and I can always reload it. So I HardReset and followed by removing bloat. WPA WORKS NOW! (Insert "Twilight Zone" theme music here.)
All in all...it just seems strange to have to HARD Reset my phone to get something like this to work again.
hello everybody,
i am having huge problems connecting to my university`s wifi (tu-clausthal in germany). i installed secure w2 newest version and the required certificates from my university. i configured everything according to the guidelines. however, i cannot connect to the wifi network, it keeps connecting forever and nothing happens. i am 100% sure the configuration is correct, a friend of mine can connect with the exact same config. also i can connect to any other wifi network, no matter if wep, wpa, etc. only havin problems with the certificates, it seems.
now my question: has anybody successfully connected to a secure w2 wifi network? if so, which rom and which version of secure w2 did you use?
the technical support of my university doesnt know anything about windows mobile...iphone and symbian phones seem to connect without problems...
any suggestions?
edit: i am using AtheniOS rom wm 6.1
Same problem connecting to a w2 on my AT&T Tilt. My company was running a linksys standard WPA but installed a WPA2 a few months ago. My IT department tried to help but they don't know windows mobile and AT&T tech support was useless. I have a WPA2 option in my wireless menu but I can't connect??? I'll get looking and will post if I find anythink.
hmm too bad. as i said, one of my friends can connect without problems....
With WPA2 Enterprise (not WPA2-PSK) Windows Mobile allows only EAP-TLS & PEAP Authentication, the authentication type will be configured on a central RADIUS server(s). With EAP-TLS you MUST have a personal certificate on the device as well as the Root CA's certificate. The client certificate must also have the 'Client Authentication' attribute. The Root CA certificate will generally have the 'All Purposes' attribute. With PEAP you have the option to use either a Certificate or Username/Password to identifiy the user - you would normally use Username/Password, however the RADIUS Server always identifies itself to the client using a Certificate. The client has the option to ignore this certificate if it chooses, however the default is to verify it is a trusted certificate. In XP or Vista you can turn this checking off in the network settings by unchecking the box 'Validate server certificate'. In Windows Mobile there isn't a way of doing this in the GUI, however there is a registry tweak that can be set:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\EAP\Extensions\25
ValidateServerCert=0
Setting the value to 1 means check the certificate, 0 means don't check it.
Also verify the Time & Date on your device is in sync with the RADIUS server as timing is critical with PKI.
Other than that I don't know what to suggest. I sucessfully use my Kaiser with (almost) stock 5.2.19212 ROM on two WPA2 networks, one using WPA2/AES with PEAP authentication and the other using WPA2/AES & EAP-TLS - both work fine.
One more thing, check the version of the 'TNETW1251.dll' file. There appears to be at least two floating around. I have version 3.55.0.0 in my ROM.

Andy
thanks for your advice!
i just flashed the new atheniOS win 6.5 and installed the secure w2 software and now it works! i dont know why or how though
