Was wondering, on my old 8525 whenever someone called my green and red phone buttons would light up, ( well, all the d-pad lights would )but on my Tilt it doesn't do that anymore. It makes it very hard at night to answer a call without pressing the screen. And don't get me started on how hard it is after a few drinks!! Its impossible!
If there's a setting i can use please do tell. Thanx
If you do a quick search in this forum you will find that it has been discussed many, many times. However, noone has come up with a solution yet - unfortunately.....
ok, thank you very much. I hope someone figure this out soon, I drink a lot and well . . . I need lights to show me the way!

Hi. Just bought a Kaiser after moving on from my old Hermes.
Seems like there are a few differences in the way the button lights operate. It seems that when a call or SMS/alert comes in the button lights (call end/pickup etc) do not come on - only the screen light does.
Does anyone know how to make these lights come on as well?
Cheers.
No-one else have this problem?
I concur this is true, but I don't know how one would solve it. To me it isn't a problem.
Not a problem here either...
...Just press the OK button under the THUMP WHEEL when you get a call if you need the buttons to light up.

Now this is probably me missing an obvious setting BUT - I liked to set my Hermes to have the keyboard lit up all the time when open. But I've tried various combinations of settings and cannot get the Kaiser's to stay on. In pitch darkness I fumble a bit as it goes off after only a few seconds and anyway I like that blue glowy keyboard even in daylight (not as bright as Hermes though ) Anybody got a setting to make it stay on??
Mike
Oooh I like asking newbie questions again
bump up

I have posted on this subject both here and at Modaco (See my Front panel lights post) and no one seems to reply so I can only assume that no one can find a solution.
Bump.......
Any solution for that ?
not sure what you mean? a half press of the camera button turns the lights on
I think he means when a call comes in, the buttons on the face of the phone don't light up... I have been wondering about this too - it's not great when trying to answer a call in the car at night.
I have noticed that as well. Of course, I can touch the screen to answer, but it would be nice to see the red and green call buttons lit up as they did on my Wizard.

This is is my problem.
Happens with the Vario III too!
At present I do not own a TyTN II, but soon that will change (most likely)...but i just want to verify something.
The front buttons; call send, end, ok/softkey, start/sofkey, (and to a lesser extent the directional pad) do not light up at all, or only when a call is coming in?
They are backlit (well, not the directional pad), they are just saying the backlight is not automatically triggered on an imcoming call.
So what is the solutions for this?
How to keep buttons backlit when call is incoming?
Is it possible to keep these buttons backlit as long as the screen is backlighted (would be easier to navigate while you are in car in the dark)
Thanks,
Piotr
I searched registry without result.
Thanks for replay, but is it really true that it can't be changed??!!
pleasy anyone, help!
Help me too
This evening I was walking to my car which was parked on an unlit parking lot. The backlight not coming up automatically is really annoying Any help would be appreciated.
I got used to it. Now I can just press the buttons without looking the phone since there's no solution to it yet.
I found out that solution is pressing the camera button half way down (which is very easy to find and to press) turns on the backlight of all other hardware keys on the front of the device. really helpful.
greetings
Now that i read this thread, i just realized i was feeling for the buttons to answer a call while i was driving cos it was dark & i still am not familiar with the buttons....it's only been a week since i got the TyTN II Would love to see a tweak for this if there is

That's not a solution. That's finding another button, to turn on the backlight to find another button
Anyway. I'm afraid I have to get used to it. But it's these little things which annoy me more and more. How come interface designers don't think of this?
Has anyone found a solution to this, it's really annoying, I was woken up by a call last night and was fumbling around trying to find the answer key in the dark . My old Artemis used to light up the buttons along with the screen on an incoming call.
Sorry if its a repeat but I searched a lot before posting this.
My Tilt (with Dutty's ROMs and other stock ROMs as well) when calls are coming, my screen lights up but the hard buttons don't light up so in the dark its hard to pick up the phone. Is there a fix for that?
Thanks.
There was a Thread on this, albeit without any solution.
Anyway I have got used to pressing the soft key on the screen when a call comes in when I am in the dark

That's true, TBH I always press the softkey to answer calls, don't know why though . I suppose i think, "I've got a touch screen, I'm gonna make the most out of it"
I wish I had a better interface for incoming calls like Palm's or iPhones where I have two big buttons on the screens, Accept call or Ignore call. Is there a dialer like that???
when i had my Wizard (MDA), if i got a call or text message, the hard buttons would light first then the screen...which was helpfull so i can answer the phone before the phone even rings (on my end and the other persons end)
Hi i'm new to this site and this's my first post.
I'm sorry for my poor english but i don't speak it very well.
So,
i have a problem with the Home button (under the screen on the upper left of the central pad), which, when i put my finger on it turn is light not to the common light but shows a strange orange light. What's is it? Is it a malfunction?
Thanks a Lot
Is really a curious thing
I know
I know but it's really so.
The home button has the roof in orange color.
But according to you is necessary to send the diamond to warranty service??
Please reply
The strange thing is that the button and also all device work fine. very fine
well, it's kind of a strange situation lol.
did you buy it from orange ?
NNo i buy it from newprice.it i'm from italy.
I have seen that the back-illumination of buttons(home call and end-call buttons) under screen is too low.
Is this the cause of m problem?
How can increase back-illumination of buttons under screen.
post a youtube video so we can see exactly what are you talking about
Hi emstemmed XDA team..
Here is a problem I need an answer too as it's driving me nuts..
Just spent half a day on it and still haven't found an answer..
Problem: I have Truephone installed as my default call option..
When phone is in Lock screen mode..I get a call..
Call come in.. but..
Samsung (or android) is deciding that it needs to tell me that Truephone is in full screen mode..and it rattles on about the navigational buttons ..
The problem with this is that as it is the lock screen it's like a pop up. And won't let me answer a call..
I swipe it away but as it's persistent it will leave me at log in screen..which by this time I have lost call.. d
Do you think I can find where to time this dam thing off .
Not so far I have not found it in notifications .
True phone has all the correct permissions .
Notifications turn off or in has no effect on it .
I have got a work around via a sound button and or using the headphones to answer a call. But dam..do you think..?
New phone with android 10..
Hope that makes sense .
In a nut shell..it's a system pop up that won't go away and its dam hard to find where to turn it off .
go to setting and search "appear on top", open "appear on top" and allow the truephone caller to appear on top. and disable default phone app to appear on top.
Will be interesting to see if any of the tweaks worked..
Won't be able to test until tomorrow as got a Bud coking in and I can use his phone to call me a few times and test it .
I had that setting in place already..
So I am wondering if maybe goodlock might be the one..or always on..
I have pretty much turned everything off now and will slowly add back in once I know it's gone .
But it's been a hard one to find .
A few screen shots of what I have got at moment..
Ok. finally..a fix..
What it was is a first time setup Android notification that needs 3 swipes to get rid of..
It is a notification that says the on screens buttons are going to be hidden because the app (Truephone ) is working in full screen mode.
Then it gives up an arrow to swipe from bottom..
Sounds good .but..
Swipe up to get anything and that first screen will jump to unlock code ... And call drops.
So you just have to play with someone calling you and or another phone next to you and call yourself a few times..
Work your way through 3 screens of notifications from android..
Then it stops.
What stupid engineer thought it was fine to make someone go through 3 swipes before it stops. Idiot. ..
Hope this saves someone a week of trying all other fixes..as nothing in Google on it.
Thanks to XDA..!!!
