After toying around for hours, I've finally figured out a way to remove/overwrite Hard-SPL
First thing you'll need is HERALD-USPL-beta3
and the Second would be Stock Rom T-Mobile
Unzip the Stock Rom, which will be .exe file. Extract the .exe file into a folder.
Inside that folder copy the SPL.nbh and the RUU_sighned.nbh file.
Now extract the USPL file which should have a Flash Center folder. Inside that folder is a RUU folder. Paste those two files into this folder.
Go back to the root of the Flash Center and run herald-uspl.exe
Follow all on screen instructions. And Booooom, your done. This will also flash the Stock rom back too.
This has only been tested with the Tmo Wing, but could possibly work on other phones.
I am not liable if you should happen to brick your phone, and good luck
thank you.
this is what i was looking for before flashing my wing to a cooked rom.
That´s great - a junior member posts a solution many other asked for...
Thanks. Well done. A good step by step.
Thx
I can confirm that the soloution above works on a swedish unbranded p4350 using the stock WM6 ROM from HTC e-club. I went from HarldSPL + Opentouch 3.0 to stock ROM just to give it a try in case I need to envoke warranty. Now I´m back with OT3 & HSPL.
Excellent DaMyth!
Bravo!! This is what all TMo Wing users might need. Thanks for the neat instruction.
Thanks, and np. I'm here to learn, as well as help if I can.
Worked on my Wing. Why I wanted the stock SPL I dont know, but either way I went from yang back to stock just as you said.
Thanks.
Sweet, worked to get me from yang back to stock, thanks!
holy shizz. I had a cooked rom running and decided to flash back to stock just to see if it works and I think I hit a bump Its at step 3/3 and nothing is happening screen on phone is white. Is it bricked????
OK NM heh these lortab are kickin hard. Just missed a step.
hey guys, I need a little help. I have the stock t-mobile RUU, but have no idea what the "SPL.nbh and the RUU_sighned.nbh file" are, do I have to download the file from the Link thats provided or can I just use my RUU? Can anyone help me out pls?
hello
does the pda have to be in bootloader?
manicallyhappy, are you asking WHERE they are? they are located physically INSIDE the executable. You will have to use something like 7-zip to extract them and you WILL have to use the USPL to de-HardSPL.
David_p, as far i know, it doesn't, but the first thing USPL should do is put your phone in bootloader, so you might as well save it some work?
thanks i needed this to get my replacementwing
Good evening friend .. I am not getting down on this site, is to post to another .... thank you very much. This server also in htc p4351

Yes. Do a hard reset on the device, do a soft reset BEFORE the extROM start loading. Then open up a registry editor, like PHM regedit, then delete... well, there's a lot of stuff, but I can't remember it all off the top of my head since I haven't messed around with the default ROM for so long. Look in the INIT section of HMLK and the services section... etc etc. It won't run as fast as it can simply because of all the files that are in the file system, but it will be a lot faster.

So, you're created a nice ROM but you're tired of the inconsistencies of Aserg's flashing ways? Worry no more.
Step 1. Download this. I've been using an older version... but I'll try this one when I get home.
Step 2. Make sure your ROM is at LEAST 51.2MB big. If not, pad it with some apps. Set the program to Herald and on the System section, set it to read your ROM file.
Step 3. Download any ROM that uses an NBH. OpenTouch for example. Remove their NBH and place your NBH in its place. Don't worry about the name of the nbh.
Step 4. Place the phone into flight mode.
Step 5. Run the USPL.
Enjoy.
If you install things this way, it repartitions the storage partition for more space.
Also... well... I have a theory... I'll try it first before I talk about it.
There has been so much discussion about USPL... Which version is safe to use ? Are there different versions for herald and wing?
TIA
No. There's only one version for both of them. It's safe because it doesn't touch your real boot loader. It loads a temporary boot loader into memory instead. HardSPL is not safe.

True. As long as the phone doesn't break because the warranty won't cover it if they test it and realize that the SPL has been changed. Also, you don't have to create custom RUUs. The thing about HardSPL that I don't like is that all to many people permanently brick their devices with it. It works great for those it works for. But that's not every body. I wish I could try it on my phone but I can't risk it.
thx but this wat i been using anyway but i can't figure wat you do!!!! I had this on my computer since it was release

I updated step 2 with some info. If you still don't understand, I might make some screenshots.
thx i got it now
how do u put a nbh rom, file or wat ever its called lolz on the wing?
Simply use a RUU installer
BTW I just checked and there is a sticky thread in the Herald forum especially for newbies and there it is shown how to handle NBH files.
Whatever goes for Herald basically goes for Wings so don't worry
can u gimmy the link?
...It's a sticky... meaning it is always on top of the list
Next time try a little harder, please.
Anyway, here is the Link
Ok.. not to put the nail in the coffin, but I have a few issues that I'm sure someone here can help me with. I hope.
NBH file: So I extract it as it shows in the wiki, then i end up with some splash nb and a 01_OS.nb or something.
So, I look back through my other roms and find the 2.2 touch-wing rom had in it an OS.nb, so I assume that maybe I can just replace that? But what of the other .nb?
Seriously, is there anyone who can zip up a package that includes all but the NBH? I've bricked a phone before, as I'm semi tech-retarded.. this would be a great help to me.
thanks in advance.

lol.. good point.. I'm just trying to try a new rom.. I have open touch 2.2 or something for my wing. I was looking to do the new version but I get as far as extracting files from the NBH and have no clue where to go next.

Hi,
Are you trying to flash a new rom or recook a rom?
flash a new rom
Here is the WING's RomUpdateUtilty (minus the nbh)
Here is the "FLASH CENTER" (U-SPL)
You should be able to use either of those to flash the Rom onto your phone.
My suggestion is ... follow the instructions that came with the ROM NBH you're trying to install.
thanks.. i guess i'm semi retarded.. i didn't relate nbh to that aserg/uspl/hardspl post.. i figured that was completely different stuff..
I find unless you are a forum junkie here, it's easy to get lost in a month or two.
I appreciate the help.. now running biggy 2.7 and love it.
If I want to flash the 6.1 rom, which method do I need to use? I see there are 3 different ways to do it, but if someone could clarify for me, that would be great.
I want the new 6.1 with the cube if that helps.
thanks

Same way as the WM6.0 ROMs. It depends on the format of the ROM you download and your preferences.
If you have flashed in the past with Hard-spl then you have to use it again
If you have not flashed yet then using uspl is really easy

Here's the rom I use:
Open Touch Biggy v3.0 by ttran:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7GY2ZNKD
Then follow these steps:
II. How do I flash an NBH file?
a. USPL
Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4N36HLO
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.
Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.
Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe
Step 6. Follow the directions on the screen. EXACTLY.
* Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
* ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.
Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.
That's it. Welcome to the flasher's world.
Instructions by Ivanmmj
This has the cube and is running 6.1
Enjoy!
Thank you! I figured I would get bashed for not knowing. I appreciate the help more than you know. I will update here soon once I have it up and running. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't brick it....lol
Also, please make sure you have an SPL of 4.0 or above before you use those tools.

Please go there are read the faq in its entirety. There are many things it tells you about the rom that you need to know. The FAQ is the third post. It will keep you from answering questions that have been answered there
I have tried searching every combination I could think of, but to no avail. I cannot find the file online. The RC29 image isn't a standard zip like other roms so I can't pull it from that, and I don't want to risk downgrading from my newly installed (First time) cm4.
So, if anyone has a copy of the RC29 filesystem saved somewhere, would you be so kind as to share the /system/framework/framework-res.apk file with me?
Thanks in Advanced.

What do you need it for? You can't do anything with it.
RC29 was very short lived so it'll be a rare find.
Mostly for the boot animation from it. I figured that RC29 being the G1 root exploit source, and anyone rooting and putting a custom rom on it has to go through it to upgrade first, that someone might be able to pull the file for me.

Well... you can try making a nandroid backup, then unrooting, pulling the framework-res.apk file and then root all over again.
That's what I don't want to risk. Read that going back to RC29 requires downgrading the SPL and radio. I rather not risk it.
Just, if anyone is rooting a g1 and happens to see this if they could copy the file in the mean time, it be great. Not crucial, but be a nice surprise.
Sorry for such a Noob question.
I would like to download the basic stock rom for the N1.
My wifes N1 is not working correctly & she only uses basic features on the phone so i would like to flash it with the original stock rom.
Also at the moment we cannot turn the mobile internet off either.
PLEASE HELPPPPPPP
Bart
Here is the latest stock release in all it's options:
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...build-info-and-repacks-stock-rooted-deodexed/
The bottom most link sounds like the one you're looking for.
thank you so much for that
is flashing the rom on this the same as it would be for a Hero using HTC Sync on your computer?
if not please point me to a guide
my assumption from what i can see is that with this i dont need to root the phone or anything like that, is that right?
Hi sorry guys I still really need some help here.
I have managed to download the ROM as suggested but Im so confused from reading the different tutorials on how to actually flash the phone to revert it back to the stock rom.
I have seen the below tut would you advise using this?
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850
however i do not know what these terms mean
adb reboot bootloader
Confirm fastboot connection fastboot devices
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
is fastboot where you hold the trackball down & then turn the device on giving you the sub menu?
sorry for the noob questions but i really need to get this phone sorted
Many thanks
Bart
There's a much simpler way to return to stock.
Download FRF91 from http://developer.htc.com
Rename to passimg.zip and copy to the root of the SD card.
Hold Vol- and power on the phone, it will find the file and ask if you wish to install. Job done.
Rusty
Thank you so much, you may save me from a divorce & a headache.
The internet truly makes the world a smaller place.
Thank you again so much sir
hi followed followed the steps & the phone doenst find the passimg.zip file when it reboots
i renamed the original zipped file to passimg.zip & put it on the sc card
also tried to extract the original file that i downloaded into another folder, renamed that to passimg.zip & put on the root of sd card.
neither method seemed to work as when i rebooted the phone with Vol - key held it didnt recognise or find the file
i just get the fastboot menu
Please help
Check it's not called passimg.zip.zip
Quite common
thanks mate i checked that
i ensured that i could see the extension before i renamed the file
so the file is def renamed passimg.zip
please confirm that i needed to just rename the downloaded zip file & not extract the file & then zip it
what else can i check please
thanks Rusty

What ROM is on her phone currently? Is it rooted? Is the bootloader unlocked? These are all important questions =)
phone is running 2.2.1 at the mo
phone is not rooted or anything unlocked, she has only received the over the air updates to the phone but done nothing else.
I think that the issues she's been having have occurded since the last update.
when she first had the phone it worked a treat
thanks for your help guys
Well in that case she *is* on a basic stock ROM. What problems are happening on her phone?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
the keyboard often would just stop responding
the internet would work and then not work
overall the phone would be working a lot slower than when she originally got it which is why I want to revert it to the stock Rom
Just factory reset it
ok I tried to do a factory reset but that's just wipes all the data right and doesn't actually reset the software version
I have done this by using the option within the phone menu and then also done this by using the clear storage option from the fastboot menu and again it only clears the phone's data and not reset the Rom to original
Again, you already have a stock ROM! It's the newest version but it's definitely stock unless you made any egregious mistakes during the upgrade or made any modifications yourself. You've said it was never rooted, hence I must conclude that it's as stock as it's going to get.

As the bloke above me says, its already as original as it's going to get!
ok guys sorry about this, its probably down to my mis communication, I want to reset the phone to firmware version 2.1 which is what it came with as it was working fine then. I thought this is what was meant by returning to original stock Rom.
apologies for the mis com
how do I reset it to original firmware 2.1
Even if you did, it will bug you to update all the time.
You need a passimg file, the original one for the N1 (ERD79) can be found on shipped-roms.com
Rename it to passimg.zip, put it on the root of the SD card and power on the phone holding Vol- it will find the file and ask if you want to update.
