Deactivate HTC X-Button in the Registry - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Anyone know what Registry value to use to Deactivate the HTC XButton? This question has been asked numerous times in numerous threads but always just gets skipped over and left unanswered.
Can't seem to pinpoint how to shut it off.
Any help would be appreciated.
Please Advise,
Thanks !!!!!!

yes! i really want to know this! it definitely won't keep me from flashing to opentouch3 tonight though.

You can disable "taskmanager" in: Start-settings-system!!
And you can use batterystatus taskmanager when goingt to: taphold (on bS) - tools - enable taskman
I like the taskman from batterystatus way more....

You can uncheck the box for X-Button but it won't go away. I'm using Open Touch 3.0. I really hate XButton, I use PBar instead. There must be regedit to turn XButton off, just can't find it.

Registry and Spb Pocket Plus

Hi Guys,
I've a problem with Spb Pocket Plus and with the default settings of my TyTN II.
I'll try to explain, because my ROM is in italian and I don't know how to translate them in english.
So, these are the facts:
I've installed the Trial version of Spb Pocket Plus 4.0.1 and I've checked the option to override the default X close button as you can see in pc_capture1.jpg.
Then I deselected it and reenabled from Settings - Buttons the two default items as you can see in pc_capture2.jpg.
But as I can try on my device, after a soft-reset, I can't see in the upper right of the screen the item that can let me choose to see and eventually close the applications running on the device pc_capture3.jpg
Now my question is: what is the registry key that I have to (re)set so I can reenable that functionality overriding that ugly settings from Spb Pocket Plus (that I've deinstalled but without success in resetting the item I need)?
Yes, I know it's difficoult to understand that pictures that are in italian, but if someone can help me, I'll be glad with him/her.
Bye,
ghale.
I know this dosen't really help because you seem to be talking a different avenue than I did... but I had to totally uninstall to get the HTC X back. There is a CAB for the HTC task manager that you might install and see if it over rides the SPB settings...?
Sorry.
If you have both Pocket Plus and the HTC Close Button app running at the same time, your results aren't likely to be good. Either disable the Close Button in Settings, or shut down PP's close button in it's settings, and then soft reset. If that doesn't work, remove Pocket Plus (your settings should be preserved) and reinstall.
Done.
I've the same problem.
Thanks, btw.
Does "Done." mean that you did it and the problem was fixed or that it's still there? Tough to tell from your last post.
Simply means that the problem was NON solved.
So I've reinstalled Spb and I'm trying to use the Spb method to close the application, instead of the HTC one.
I've tried also to install the HTC Task Manager, from 1.51 to 2.00, overwriting the ROM files, too, but without success.
I've tried a lot of time, but no solution.
If someone has other info, please let us know.
Bye,
ghale.

Go to settings - system - task manager - button and make sure both boxes there are unchecked. I run Pocket Plus (3.2 upgraded recently to 4.0) without an issue. If that doesn't resolve the problem, it may be something else you're running.
You might try posting your question(s) on the SPB forums. Mods there are most responsive to issues, especially with newly released versions of their software.

S2U2 and Voice Dialer

I can't use voice dialer when S2U2 locks phone, is there a way around this? I like the S2U2 application, but when I am driving and need to make a phone call via bluetooth handfree I can't, because s2u2 block the voice dialer.
I did look for a solutions via the search engine and in the s2u2 thread, but no luck thus far.

Thanks for your response,

Cyberon Voice Speed Dial V1.2 build 070626
The newest version of S2U2 v0.95 offers a solution to this problem by adding the ability to use exceptions to temporarily disable S2U2.
1) Install the new version.
2) Run iLock2 to close the application.
3) Use a registry editor:
Under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2U2, find an open ExceptionEXE(0-9) (STRING). I used ExceptionEXE3. Enter the value: "SDDialer.exe" (this is the application that runs when you press the button on your bluetooth headset).
4) Run iLock2 to restart the application and you're done.
Thanks to tompol for discovering this solution. I first tried it by entering the value: "Voice Speed Dial.lnk", but this didn't work.
Hello,
i have another problem with S2U2 on my Kaizer, and i think i created it but cannot get through it. After i did some changes on the S2U2 settings now every time the lock goes on and even if i open the settings i get a black screen and can not do anything. If i press the power on button to turn off the screen and then on, i get the S2U2 screen but frozen, with out any animation! I have tried to remove and re-install the application but i get the same response from the program. Could someone give me some help, because i really like the application but can not use it...
TIA,
Nikos.

did you turn on the directdraw option or safe mode option?
When you uninstall an app, it leaves behind the registry entries. As soon as you reinstall the app, those settings are in affecct again. Uninstall the app, use a registry editor to remove the following key, soft reset, then try to reinstall:
The key to remove is HKCU\Software\A_C
Ok, I had the exact same problem, the problem is indeed with D3D option, you need to disable it. As soon as it is off and the settings are saved, the program works fine once again, and smoother then previous version.
This part is gonna be hard to explain... but here it goes...
First thing to do is run ilock so that when u turn the screen off it doesn't start S2U2.
When you open the settings the screen freezes, like the kaiser crashed, but if you move down and you turn the screen off and on, you'll see the menu scrolled down.
Basically that means u're working blind, changes do occur but u can't see, so the process is to move it down, turning the screen off and on sistematically until u see the d3d option and turn it off, then save it.
Hope I explained myself enough.
Takes some work, but doesn't require registry tweaking and other settings are kept.
Keep posted on results.
Cheers, Esko

It was indeed the direstdraw option. It was easier for me to try eskostar's method, especially since i had tried the same blind procedure but i did not figure the trick with running the ilock first!!!
Everything worked out great!!! Now i can use this excellent program again!!!
Thank you again!!!

I have this problem. When I start S2U2 and miss call screen remains as it is when someone call (caller's number and slide to answer or two buttons with green and red phone). Whatever I push or click nothing happens. So I must softreset or turn off and on my Kaiser. Some tips?
Sorry I dont have that issue. However my problem with this version of S2U2 is when SLide to Answer is Active you can still use the Hardware Keys to answer!
Anyone no how to deactivate the Hardware keys during Slide to Answer?

if any of the apps in the exception list are running, not just in the foreground, even if they are running in the background, then [email protected] will not enable. Check your exception list, make sure none of those apps are currently running, then try again. If you still have issues after that, then it's with S2U2, not the exception list.

Very well done.
Apparently Internet Explorer was still running, and as soon as I closed that it ticked off. May consider removing that key, as I don't see why I would need it.

Good deal, glad it worked for you....
when I install S2U2 (i go thru phases where I want it, then phases of "get it off my Tilt") the first thing I do is remove the exception for PIE.
FYI.... Likewise, if you run any of the Cube or TouchFlo variants out there, you will need to put an exception into the TouchFlo settings for S2U2. What happens if you don't is when you try to slide to unlock (or slide to answer) you end up invoking the Cube or TouchFlo, instead of S2U2. Just an FYI for you....
Thanks for the tip. Am still looking into wicked programs so far, only had it two weeks and it's already been through the mod ringer.

Wireless Toddle Application

Hi,
I am interested in binding a button to quickly turn the wireless off and on.. It is a pain to keep going through the comm manager..
I need a little program that when executed just either enables it or disables it depending on the current state..
Anybody know of such a program?
Thanks,

I think theis might be the site:
http://ae.inc.ru/aewft.php
This function is also built into Spb Phone Suite. Very handy I might add.
Not free is downside..
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
There is also a new beta for this app which you can find here;
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15808
Use Kaiser tweeks etc to turn on wireless today, which will give you a home screen plugin
Here is another free today plug in - gives you all the three buttons to toggle : bluetooth, wifi and the phone all in one place. Takes away the pain of using comm manager. I dont remember where I found it so I am just posting the CAB here.
If were going with Today Screen plug-ins I'll have to place my vote for SBSH PhoneWeaver (not free but well worth it):

[SOLVED] VAlert makes Manila 2D VolumeControl unusable

Hi all,
I have Manila2D installed on my Kaiser, but disabling TouchFlo2D, I can see something strange for me.
Tapping on the underlined zone in the following picture,
I get the following screen:
I don't understand why, since TouchFlo is not enabled and Manila2D.exe is not running too.
The last question is about the Volume Control during a call. If I try to adjust volume, using the left side small wheel, the following screen appears:
I would like to know, what's the process to kill, in order to get the standard windows mobile volume control (which is the one you get if you have the Official Windows Mobile 6.1 release from HTC). In other word, I'm looking for the cause of this behaviour, even though Manila2D is not running anymore.
I appreciate any kind of help, thanks in advance.
Which ROM are you running? Look in the settings menu for enlarge title bar or go into the touchflo setting and the last tab on the bottom should have something about the title bar. As for the volume, there is a cab out there somewhere that changes back to the original volume control. Can't remember what it is called off the top of my head. I will look for it later if you can't find it.
Hi,
thanks for reply.
I'm using this ROM.
By the way, I don't want to enlarge the title bar and it seems there's no title bar settings there! O_O.
As regard the Volume Control I would like to know exactly what's the name of the process causing that behavior. I need to find it, in order to get the last version of that file from a more recent ROM of the same family and substitute it. This is because the current version is bugged.
Go to Start>Settings>System>TouchFOL> check the Show System Status... box.
Hope that helps.
I'm sorry, my ROM doesn't have the Show System Status check box there. I only have the check box to enable the scrolling sound. Maybe there's some Registry key to modify?
Thank you.
Hi
The services is : HTCvolumeControl. The Dll is HTCVolumeControl.dll.
You can stop this services.
In the touchFlo control panel (version 3) you have 3 checkbox : ENABLE Volume Scroll, eNABLE EnlargeTitleBar , and Enable EnlargeTitleBar.
For stop volume control there is some registry key to stop service or use MamMaid for stop service.
Scusa per l'inglese ma sono italiano anche io !!!!
Hi Dany72!
Thanks a lot for your interest.
I guess you hit the nail on the head! It's just the time to separately update my TouchFlo.
I'll try to make some test following your suggestions and I will let you know the results.
Have a nice day, thank you.

Ok, I found them. I tried to substitute them with more recent files. I've got them from the TiR v10k ROM, but nothing has been fixed. You said I can stop this service but I don't see any HTCVolumeControl in the process list (may you suggest me any process lister or a better task manager to see all running processes please? MamMaid is unobtainable).

Hi
This is a link to memmaid : http://www.dinarsoft.com/memmaid/. You can download in trial mode.
In the section startupservice you disable HTCVOLUME service. Restart your ppc and could be restore old volume control.
Other solution is delete the registry setting of volume control :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\HTCVOLUME]
"Module"="\\Windows\\HTCVolumeControl.dll"
"DLL"="\\Windows\\HTCVolumeControl.dll"
"Prefix"="VOL"
"Info"=dword:00000000

"Keep"=dword:00000001
"Order"=dword:0000000c
"Context"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\ShellOverrides]
"SavedInCallVolume"=dword:66666666
"Mode"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume]
"Duration"=dword:00000bb8
"Ringer"=dword:99999999
"Volume"=dword:99999999
"Mute"=dword:00000007
"Screen"=dword:00010000
"Key"=dword:00010000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\VolumeOverlay]
"ClearType"=dword:00000000
"DefaultPage"=dword:00000001
"OverlayAPClassName1"="SprintTV"
"OverlayUI"=dword:00000000
"LoadIconFromResDLL"=dword:00000000
"MultiIncallSetting"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\MASD]
"VolumeControl"="1_6_18183729_0"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Volume]
"Group"=dword:00000000
Then restart.
Bye
Daniele
Thanks Daniele!
I was looking for MamAid!!! You wrote an 'a' instead a 'e'!!! That's the reason why I was becaming mad searching it on the web!
It's strange, but even though I have the HTCVolumeControl.dll file and two more files with a different extension, there's no HTCVolumeControl entry in the startupservice section and there aren't any of that registry entries you mentioned before.
It's so strange, isn't it?
Yas.
I use this tool end i post to you the registry setting that i cooked in my rom. In my mammaid startup service , there is HTCVOLUME that is the service for HTCvolumecontrol (HTCVolumecontrol.dll).
Try to check enable advanced features in memmaid menu.
HTCVOLUMECONTOL is a service of ppc.
Bye
Daniele
No way!
This is the list of processess (also in advanced mode): Manila2D.exe, device.exe, filesys.exe, gwes.exe, MemMaid.exe, cprog.exe, services.exe, shell32.exe, Biotouch.exe, repllog.exe, connmgr.exe, SDDaemon.exe, tmail.exe, HTC_HPrf.exe, Opera9.exe, poutlook.exe, SAPSettings.exe, OperaPrel.exe NK.exe.
Ok fbcyborg you see running process (last tab [six tab]).
If you see startup services (tab 4) you switch in menu (Start Up Items/Start Up Services/Today Plugin). In the second menu you see all services in startup and you can change the type of startup. In this windows there is HTCVOLUME.DLL
I Hope...
Bye
No Dany,
it isn't there unfortunately. I think it's because its name is different or something else.
Don't worry about that.. Maybe one day I will know how to find it somewhere else.
I've just upgraded to TiR v10k, even though I think is a bad ROM. I was just thinking to install another one but now I don't have time to do that.
Hi guys,
I found the solution to my problem.
Removing VAlert (a small program to allow customization of vibration incoming call alerts) I didn't have any more problem on my Kaiser as regard VolumeControl.

wkTask

Introduction: I have searched an answer to my question both in xda-developers, in SE Xperia X1 forum and in wkTask manual.
Questions:
#1: is there a way to have wkTask always on top/in front of WM today screen?
#2: is there a way to add to the laucher other links other than those on Start menu? (to make it simple: how can I add to the launcher links that are in Settings folder? I neither can find them on my PDA)
Thanks to you all, as always!
P.S.: great program wkTask... would suggest to cook it into Jack's lite Rom, using it I can almost use no panels at all!
you've lost me on number 1 im afraid, what do you mean wktask is always showing on my topbar
Ive used WkTask since way back in all my devices, but now with X1 I felt it was causing problems... Some weird crashes and I switched to P +'s task manager... WkTask is great but now I just learned to live with other tools.
that's odd, I found quickmenu causing some issues, not wktask
I stopped using it so long ago that I can remeber exactly what were the problems, but there were some crashes and whatnot..
I use Wktask as well, just not the quickmenu it has. Works like a charm for me!
Works fine on my X1 as well!

what you want from 1 still isn't too clear, I think it might be a translation problem
You're saying you want it always on top just on the today screen. Which is a contradiction..
I'm presuming that means you only want it active on the today screen, if so then I think the answers no as that's not what Wktask is about..
You can get it to disappear on the today screen by checking the tickbox "hide the task-list when there are no tasks"
I tend to hide always START (manilla-tf3d) and activesync
2) yes but it's not that easy. control panel items are .cpl some are .dll and others are .exe will start normally some wont.
They should all be in windows.

#2 solved, they actually are in windows folder, but I needed to tick the "show all files" option under menu. Then, copy the exact name and insert it manually on the launcher.
However, the name of the .exe, .dll, .*** it is not the one shown on the settings panel
#1 I'll try to explain myself. In Windows (normal one, not mobile) you can have some windows always on top.This mean that the "always on top" window will always stay in front of everything. Now, on WinMo, I really like the wktask launcher. But, it is not always visible on my screen, every time I need to activate it. Is there a way to have it always visible?
Hope I've been able to explain the point, otherwise thanks anyway, I'll survive without this trick, take an English course and come back to explain it

But I think the answer is no. Maybe ask the author of WKtask if he could implement it as an option?

question for the one who use wktask with their xperia: The OK button (not the OK from WM, the OK touch in the right bottom corner) does not close the program but hide it when wktask is launched. Is it a bug or something expected ? If it is not a bug, how is it possible to close any program by pushing the OK key, as a default behavior ? any idea ???

WKTask Launcher settings Backup
Here is answer from directly from maker of WKTAsk:
The settings of WkTASK are written in registry.
So you can backup them by using "PHM Registry Editor".
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Backup steps
1. Open \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\waku\WkTASK.
2. Tap&hold WkTASK folder icon
3. Select "Export" and input file name
