Im very new to MS Mobile. Ive been using Symbian since the Sony Ericsson P800 and as recent as the M600i. I recently gladly switched over to MS Mobile and the learning curve is a little curvy.
Where are all the wonderful applications that I can install? How do I know if it works on the TyTN II? Obviously if the requirements specify WM 6.0 Pro, then its gonna work, but what about screen type? SVGA vs VGA?
- Will WM 6.0 (non-professional) or WM 5.0 s/w work on the Kaiser?
- What does the Sym button do? Meaning Fn + Sym on keyboard do?
- Is there no way to copy paste using the keyboard? I am able to highlight text using the shift and directional arrow keys, no way to copy paste? Like CTRL+C/V/X ?
- A better browser? IE doesnt allow tabs like firefox which is really inconvenient. I had Opera on my Symbian OS phones and it worked great!
- When I make an appointment or meeting in Calendar, I want an alarm to go off sometimes an hour before the appointment, sometimes 2 hours, some times 3. How do I set the alarm time within calendar?
The "wonderful applications" are all over the place. Try Handango first. Or look on here and modaco for free apps.

There is no CTRL-Button on the Keyboard - This was the question ...

Let me get this straight, I can download any software for the TyTNII as long as it is wm6 pro or wm5 pro. So it must be pro version of 5 or 6 to be compatible.

look, almost 99.9% of software will works- do not worry about it. developers do not make differences between wm6 pro or classic, it is just wm6. the same it is with wm5, wm02 and wm03
WM 6 Pro = Windows Mobile 6 device with a touch screen.
WM 6 Standard = a device without a touch screen (like the Moto Q).
In WM 5 parlance, it's "WM 5" and "WM 5 Smartphone edition."
So you'll want apps that are for WM5/6 that support touch screens when you boil it all down. Don't get ones that list compatabilitiy with the Q...

Surprised that no one bothered to take a look and inform me Instead I learned some more in regards of cab editors and registry structure
Finaly called a friend with HTC Kaiser II and found out that the "Sound" values in dtmf0-b should be "DWORDS" with values 0-b corresponding to dtmf0-b. After the uninstallation they where string values pointing at a non existing wav file.
Hoppefully it helps someone else stucked in the same situation as I was.

Vibration keypad update would be great
I put this in the g-sensor app page sorry guys
I think that this app has great potential. I in do not know how to build or develop these things so please dont shout for the ideas i have.
This program would be great if it worked for all keypads within the diamonds system, ie numberpad, phone pad, compact keyboard etc.
It would be even better if you could use the diamonds vibration, as it does in tweeter the game.
For example, if i press 1 it vibrates the top left of the phone, 3 the top right, 4 just the left side, 5 the whole phone and so on.
by using the vibration in this way it would give the phone a great tactile like sensation and you would know what button you was pressing by the vibration.
Is this possible, and is it likely to be developed in the future, i for one would love to see this work.

theme files *.tsk can also be put in the root of Internal Storage, that way you don't loose them if you have to hardreset or upgrade rom.
yes and but also the program selector database to put the appz in sdcard in the new flashed rom automatickly
I have setup the right button to launch my contacts has worked fine until i recently updated to the latest rom by qsqa which has Tf3d2 and win mobile 6.5. When i hit the contact button it launched the stock contacts.
im having similar problems - also icontact doesnt seem to stay in sync with the standard contacts now im on wm6.5 - which i "think" it did before
What are you using to set the link to the softkey button? I usually just do a registry edit which always works with no problems. Using a Registry Editor, goto:
HKLM, Software, HTC, Manila.
Change "HomeLSKPath"/"HomeRSKPath" to wherever your file is for the icontacts. Prob safest bet to link it to the /Windows file path. You can also link to different Manila tabs. For ex, I have my RSk linked to "Manila://internet/page" to bring up the web tab quickly.
Change "HomeLSKText"/"HomeRSKText" to whatever you want displayed on your softkeys.
Do a soft reset and enjoy
it works fine on mine but had to use diamond tweak to change it ... but sometimes it changes itself back to the normal contact from windows mobile ...

another program you can use is KEYSWOP I use it and it works great!! Google it
How do I get SMS-Chat (Vito technology) to become the default SMS application? so even if i click on a message that shows up in Manila2d it will open that app. I know there is a work around because they did it for thumbcal
still looking for a fix if anyone has one...

You must have a registry editor!
go to:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSINBOX (original tmail.exe)
in the string "1" write "\Program File\VITO\SMS-Chat\SMSChat.exe"
the soft-reset your device
if is not working try to remove the quote both end.hope this help
I tried this already without the quotes...apparently this fix is for mobile shell 3 and not manilla 2d
