Im very new to MS Mobile. Ive been using Symbian since the Sony Ericsson P800 and as recent as the M600i. I recently gladly switched over to MS Mobile and the learning curve is a little curvy.
Where are all the wonderful applications that I can install? How do I know if it works on the TyTN II? Obviously if the requirements specify WM 6.0 Pro, then its gonna work, but what about screen type? SVGA vs VGA?
- Will WM 6.0 (non-professional) or WM 5.0 s/w work on the Kaiser?
- What does the Sym button do? Meaning Fn + Sym on keyboard do?
- Is there no way to copy paste using the keyboard? I am able to highlight text using the shift and directional arrow keys, no way to copy paste? Like CTRL+C/V/X ?
- A better browser? IE doesnt allow tabs like firefox which is really inconvenient. I had Opera on my Symbian OS phones and it worked great!
- When I make an appointment or meeting in Calendar, I want an alarm to go off sometimes an hour before the appointment, sometimes 2 hours, some times 3. How do I set the alarm time within calendar?
The "wonderful applications" are all over the place. Try Handango first. Or look on here and modaco for free apps.
1) WM6 Pro and WM5 will work (Professional means for touchscreen pda). WM (classic etc) Smartphone editions wont work
2) Sym - opens the onscreen symbol keyboard so you can type weird aqnd wonderful characters
3) Never tried it
4) Download Opera for WM 8.65 then
5) Just set the reminder time when you create the new appointment.
Where are all the wonderful applications that I can install?
--> e.g. pocketgear.com, handago.com and others
How do I know if it works on the TyTN II?
--> tytn2 has wm6 os, so 99.9% of everything for wm5 and wm6 will work (also some apps for wm02, wm03)
Obviously if the requirements specify WM 6.0 Pro, then its gonna work, but what about screen type? SVGA vs VGA?
--> 99.9% apps/games are for qvga and tytn2 has qvga, so no problem
Will WM 6.0 (non-professional) or WM 5.0 s/w work on the Kaiser?
--> there is no wm5 for tytn2 now, not sure why it has to be when tytn2 is running the newest os now
What does the Sym button do? Meaning Fn + Sym on keyboard do?
--> input for special charactes (ěščř...)
Is there no way to copy paste using the keyboard? I am able to highlight text using the shift and directional arrow keys, no way to copy paste? Like CTRL+C/V/X ?
--> it is possible to use copy/paste, ctrl+c/v/x
A better browser? IE doesnt allow tabs like firefox which is really inconvenient. I had Opera on my Symbian OS phones and it worked great!
--> opera, and some others also for tytn2
When I make an appointment or meeting in Calendar, I want an alarm to go off sometimes an hour before the appointment, sometimes 2 hours, some times 3. How do I set the alarm time within calendar?[/QUOTE]

--> --> looks like now you are ready to enjoy wm

There is no CTRL-Button on the Keyboard - This was the question ...
But here is the answer, searching for "CTRL" would have found:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=332072&highlight=ctrl
ehm, there is no CTRL but CTL button which has the same function as CTRL (default keyboard - see screenshot). ctrl+cvx is possible

On the physical keyboard not the touch screen keyboard.
patr!k,unwired4,
Let me get this straight, I can download any software for the TyTNII as long as it is wm6 pro or wm5 pro. So it must be pro version of 5 or 6 to be compatible.
WM6 Pro and WM5 will work (Professional means for touchscreen pda). WM (classic etc) Smartphone editions wont work

So wm6 pro will work, ok great. Im confused about the latter part, will wm5 or wm pro work on TyTN II?
look, almost 99.9% of software will works- do not worry about it. developers do not make differences between wm6 pro or classic, it is just wm6. the same it is with wm5, wm02 and wm03
WM 6 Pro = Windows Mobile 6 device with a touch screen.
WM 6 Standard = a device without a touch screen (like the Moto Q).
In WM 5 parlance, it's "WM 5" and "WM 5 Smartphone edition."
So you'll want apps that are for WM5/6 that support touch screens when you boil it all down. Don't get ones that list compatabilitiy with the Q...
Hi to all Kaiser, Tilt and Tytn-II user.
I just replaced my Hermes with Tytn-II. My question is how can I separate the SMS/MMS account like my previous Hermes?
Any help, guides, instruction are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Hello,
few days ago I used Blackstone for the first time.
In standard windows calendar it was possible to switch between the days via horizontall finger-scrolling.
The Blackstone was 5.2.20764 build.
now with the new diamond ROM our lovely device gets official to 20764 build.
But it´s not possible to scroll between days in calender.
Does anybody know a solution?
thx a lot....
nobody? any hints or tips?
I can confirm this too. I really miss this new feature on my diamond.
I hope this can be solved in the registry
There is a little application called gscroll which makes it possible to use the touch panel for vertical and horizontal scrolling (and scrolling when tilting the device).
I dont want to inst. an add. program just for only 1 additional feature in calendar. Gscroll is not freeware too.
Why TouchHD can and Diamon can not scroll in calendar? Which registry entry?
Hm... same question from me....
btw: I tried GScroll ... my Diamond hangs after some time using this tool... so not an option....
Use the scroll wheel thing, enabled in Advanced Config app.
I also need the horizontal scrolling of the days with fingers in the calendar! All ROMS 6.5 for the Diamond have enabled this function (also my Topaz with 6.1) while the Diamond with the 6.1 ROMS original or cooked did not! No one who has a solution?
I have the ROM 2.07.Gen.Y ITA that is beautifull and like the Diamond2 aka Topaz but unfortunally the horizontal scrolling of calendar's days is for me fundamental!
None?
Are two days that I try to enable this feature on the Diamond but without results!
If taking "\windows\calendar.exe" from Topaz and replace it with the Diamond?
The problem is that Total Commander don't allow me to copy the file calendar.exe!

hello im working on new version and now it is stable and working
here is link
all buttons working (red button .......)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/8ger2y
and here is video of rom
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozY9aKAMy58
scroll down for screenshots
My observations:
+ damn fast
- red/power button doesn't wors as power-down button and phone toggle
- no wireless/comm manager
- some bitmaps doesn't look very well (not a big problem)
- strange names in Buttons settings
- no palm messaging (but maybe it's jus me)
At the moment I'm going back to 6.1 with palm oems, but I do really cross fingers for you and your rom. If you'll put new version soon, I'm getting it! Great work!

thx to u next version will be faster then this (i belive)
i need port original applications form palm wm5 to more usable on this palm
1-2 days for it
i dont like palm messaging
original is better for me
I used default messaging for a long time (so called "lite" version of 6.1)
The biggest problem for me is comm manager and power button. Accidentialy I flashed again to your rom so I'll stick with this one now, try to configure it for my needs (it's just question of few apps to cure most of "problems").
Can't wait to see next version.
Best regards.

I would suggest using the Palm WM6 as a base for those apps, not wm5.

haven't tried the clean version, but on the new palm version, the soft menu is the old version and links like phone settings or today settings dont work. *have to use start menu*
also not able to connect to an exchange server. link to set it up in activesync seems to be dead.
red button, and wireless manager seem to work.
will check out the clean version as well.
edit: reset the phone. activesync, email, and exchange all work.
soft key bar still isn't like your first update *i assume it changed in 6.5, and this is the old version* and phone and today settings links in soft menu are still broken.
edit#2: seems the email account isn't listed in the accounts settings window. also at least one keyboard shortcut didn't work (whitebutton + P for brightness settings) i assume this has to do with the "weird" names programs have listed under buttons.
i want to update to 6.5 but is it possible to go back to orignal at&t oem rom afterward to will there be some problem....???????
help......??????????????

thx for test i repair it today
Just downloaded your rom, will let you know the details soon
Ok here is the review of this rom, the one with palm oem applications and commmanager,
Pros:
Fast and stable
Volume is better compare to 6.1
It has inbuilt mass storage driver which 6.1 lack
Shortcut are sorted in appropriate folders in start menu
Black Theme is default, which is very good
Display is better compare to 6.1
There are 2 flavour of Wmplayer
Comm Manager is now full functional
And More............
Cons:
Instead of green light to show the network now its showing orange,
Vibrate is not working
There is slight jerk in display while changing screen from one program to another
There is no Call screen, Mean when you are answering a call or had dialed a call you want be able to see the duration of the call.
Hi there, thank you very much for your great work. I have a quick question: My Treo has a German (QWERTZ) keyboard, will it be detected somehow?, or the ROM will asume its a QWERTY keyboard. I don't mind the OS being in English, that would even be better, is there a quick way to patch the ROM to make it work with the QWERTZ keyboard?
Thank you so much in advance.
About in call screen. It's all around ActiveCall and DialLookup plugins. Maybe changing some registry values will fix it (I had similar situations once and editing some registry solved my problems). Tomorrow I'll compare some of my keyes with working wm6.
-If your syncing to an Exchange server, the Manage Folders function does not work to be able to select addition folders.
-blank HTCSETTINGS icon under System.. appears to do nothing
- 2 PHONE apps under Personal settings. Different functions, but named the same
- There is something off with trying to go into Messages from the Today screen. Takes a few clicks to actually make it work. It doesn't do it everytime.
That's all I found for the moment.. obviously WLAN option does nothing on mine
I've noticed one more thing: there's no "white dot" indicating text input with active function key. It's a bit tricky when you try to type password and you don't see what you write...
But in general it works very well. But installing "hidelogo" caused reset loop and I had to hard-reset.
Great work!
EDIT:
Change HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Today/Items/"Dial Lookup"/Type from 4 to 6 <- it will fix active-call-screen-problem Works for me.
i build new version today with all palm applications and battery test show me 14days
it is quickly then last version i upload it soon
it need some small fixes

Can you describe differencies between clear and palm version and between 6.1 and 6.5 version?
Thanks.

Hey guys,
SlovoED is a useful dictionary for my ppc. It allows me to look up german words and translating them...so that I can understand you guys
Now...with WinMo 6.5 I have a big problem: the letters in the program are HUGE...
I can't read some words properly...It destroys my program. But I want to stay with WinMo 6.5 but don't want to miss my dictionary...
So maybe it is just a setting in the registry that makes letters in programs / in this program- small...or please make any suggestings! Cheers!
Have a peek yourself:
SloveEd works perfectly for me. Using Touch-It v.13 (WM 6.5).
Either it's am issue with the ROM or there's a conflict with other installed programs.
Just set text size in settings to small... not the best solution, but it helped me.
The problem I had, is located on the ROM (at least for me) the latest Windows Mobile 6.5 build is huge, because what is not true. For example, the upper and lower bar, which killed one so formally
Tried to set it to small...it's set to "small" on the picture actually.
Maybe I had to try Itje's ROM but I went back to WM 6.1. It works fine again. It had something to do with those 6.5 Roms...
I'm using Slovo Ed 7. Which version are you using?
I had the same problem: SlovoEd 3.03 with WM 6.5 and huge letters. Even when I set it to "small" in the options.
I liked this program so much I searched for a solution. It is in the registry:
HKLM\Software\Paragon\SlovoEd\ and change the key "FontSize". I changed it to 28.
The letters are very small, but I can read them. And everything is on the screen. It helped me.
just bought a TD2 yesturday and managed to flash dutty's holy grail r6.
I used to have the xperia and didn't like it. I'm having a similar feeling with the diamond 2; they both looked good on screen. I think its just Windows Mobile thats uncomfortable. Also, capacitive > resistive. The only reason i can remotely even use this phone is because of my fingerNAILS. When you use an iPod touch for over a year, you'll start to notice the difference of responsiveness.
Some questions I have; help is appreciated:
1) Word Mobile can't turn sideways to use the landscape keyboard? Is there a way to be able to make EVERYTHING go landscape (when i tilt the phone), including the homescreens? (xperia was able to when i slide out the keyboard)
2) Why are there those unnecessary up, down, left, right, arrow keys on the keyboard? I never use them and they have become hindrances. When I go on windows live messenger and use the landscape keyboard, I cant see what im typing because the keyboard takes up almost the whole screen.
3) Can i have more then 15 favorite contacts in the contacts grid tab? (i have manila 2.5)
4) Some of my songs are in another language, so their names are in blocks of letters (when i play them in the music player) instead of proper symbols (chinese, etc).
5) Even after upgrading to dutty's rom, the phone still feels sluggish (music player), SLOW, unresponsive at times. None of my above inquiries would be a problem if the phone was super fast; it would compensate for all faults.

1. Download TD2 Tools, there is a G-Config menu that allows you to specify what rotates.
2. We lost navigation keys with the invent of the scroll bar so.... They got to be somewhere. Change your SIP will resolve this. I use Touch Pal.
3. No. 15 Comntracts is all you can load in teh contacts tab, however you can download Max Manila Themes which will give you 20 shortcuts on your home screen that can be assigned to additional contacts.
4. I know Dutty has language support but not sure how that works. Sorry.
5. I have no issues with this ROM other than the WM6.5 SMS slowdown bug.
I assume you have followed protocol and hard reset after flash?
When you first go to Pics or Music tab, it will be slow at first until everything caches.
Hope this helps. Once you check out max Manila Themes you'll be much happier.

1) I downloaded the TD2 tools, and added pocketword and wordpad to the whitelist in G-sensor. However, it doesnt work after reseting the phone and they disappear on the list when i go back to check. Same issue with "Enable touchflo3D in landscape".
2) is there another way to change the keyboard? one with unnescessary arrow keys (and other keys) and BIGGER qwerty but LESSER space taken up
5) Ahh, i just feel SO frustrated at the unresponsiveness of these phones. Even after upgrading to a nice rom (dutty's) i dont understand why WinMo is so uncomfortable to use.
Its ridiuclous to type with the onscreen keyboard, both portrait and landscape. Has anyone tried the Hero's? because its capacitive, it actually reads my fingers. I have to grow my fingernails to use this phone productively.
I bought this phone to use it's Word capabilities, calendar appointments, and live messenger, not to mention the very important SMS.
but each one of these has their own faults.
word wont rotate, calendar won't either, i cant see what im typing on messenger, and SMS is slow.
Its ABSURD.
Is there a way to delete or change something in the phone that makes the phone go FASTER? or rather the typing on the keyboard
Another ISSUE.....
Why on EARTH can't I play music (TouchFlo's music player) with the screen off (sleep mode)?? Once i press the power to sleep, the music stops.
If you want an good audio player that also allows you to turn off the screen, must you use Nitrogen.
Swype, instead, is a keyboard that has keys sufficiently large and it don't has the arrow keys.

I like the HTC music player, and to not use other ones. Is there anyway to make the music player during sleep mode??
I'm also familiar with that Swype method but I'm really just interested in a normal qwerty keyboard with large, responsive keys that dont take up so much of the screen.
Thanks for the suggestions though
can you guys please help me? im really in the verge of selling this phone (but its hard to sell it)
However, with the stock rom wm 6.5, if you have setted the deactivation of pda after for example 1 minute, after this period the device will sleep and the htc player will continue to work.
For the input, you also can try Resco keyboard or the other lot of keyboards for wm.
The strength of winmo, unlike other operative systems, is that you can always find a solution to everything ...
Some quick comments:
4) If you are looking specifically for Chinese (CHT/CHS) I use a cab file found on XDA... do a quick search for "uhei00m-gray.cab" file and this should help you. Works well for Touch HD Leo ROMs and my wife's TD2's stock 6.5 ROM.
5) I have use dutty's Leo ROM in my Touch HD before, and the sluggish-ness is due to the Leo build (cover-flow). My wife's 6.5 stock rom (without cover flow) works find without any delay/sluggishness. Keep in mind, the Leo ROM was built for HD2 with has 1GHz CPU to handle the intense graphics.
2) Keyboard, I have been using the TD2 & THD keyboard without the need for finger nail. I think just like iPhone, it takes some time to ramp up (2-3 weeks) when I used it for a short-while.
Good luck, and I think the form factor for TD2 is great! (especially for my wife who cannot stand THD size).
Hi everyone
I need your help/opinions about SE x1 windows mobile 6.1 because i'am just new at this phone so i have many things to learn.. i saw some amazingly cool applications here but not worked at my phone properly like EzInput keyboard, i like that application but it doesn't work right, it appears small on screen,, can someone help me? thank's in advance..
list off questions
1.what is SIP?
2.what is the best windows mobile version for touchflo 3d?
3.what is best version of touchflo 3d with landscape mode?
4.SPB mobile shell panel is like touchflo 3d in today panel?
5.what is SPL and ROM do i have to change/upgrade it to install applications?
someome pls help me thank's in advance
EZinput probably doesnt work because you need the WVGA version of it. Your phone screen has a WVGA resolution.
SPL and ROM, you can go to the Xperia X1 HardSPL thread and find more information about it.
I dont think theres any "best" version of windows or TouchFlo3D because they all have their pro and cons. You can just try it by yourself and see which one you like the most.
TouchFlo3D and SBP shell have nothing to do with each other. They both change your today screen though. You wouldnt need a ROM change/update if the software you're trying to install is compatible with your current one. Judging from what you said, your current ROM is running Windows Mobile 6.1. So you should be looking for WinMo 6.1 applications that are compatible with your WVGA resolution.
thanks XtriFe for answering it, i saw some touchflo 3d but forgot the version, in the instructions for installing, one of it say's change the SIP something, what is that SIP or SIP selector..? thanks again
The easiest way to get Touch Flo on the X1 is to flash a new ROM with TouchFlo. There are helpful tutorials on the ROM development section on how to download and flash custom ROMs.
SIP can stand for 2 things, either as Soft Input Panel, meaning input apps like the onscreen keyboard and handwriting recognition, or Seesion Initiation Protocol, usually in connection with VOIP programs. For your question, it's most probably referring to the first one.
SPB mobile shell is an app to customize the toda screen, and there are versions of it that make our Today screen look like the TouchFlo interface, but you're not limited to TouchFlo (see Windows Mobile Development and Hacking>Themes for SPB MS themes/layouts)
