Hey everybody! This is my first post on the xda-developers forums and I thought I'd make it a useful one. I attached the first WinMo6 application I made for my Tilt. It's a program which locks your keypad with the standard PIN prompt and quits. It's use? Lock your phone and set it to standby with two keys and no stylus.
Reason I wrote it? The second day I got the Tilt I found that the concept of being unable to lock the phone without the stylus confused and infuriated me.
Here's how you use it:
1. Download the .Zip file to your computer.
2. Extract the contents and copy the contained .Exe to your phone
3. Use jgermuga's PTT remap instructions found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1577293&postcount=12
4. For the \HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys\40C7 key set the (Default) value to "\Path\To\KeyLock.exe" (Obviously replace \Path\To\ with the appropriate path, mine was "\Temp\")
5. Also add a string called ResetCmd with the same value.
I used "MobileRegistryEditor" to edit the registry on my Tilt. Also included in the .Zip is the source code in case you want to compile from source, audit the code, or just don't trust me. Compile it yourself if you wish.
With the above steps you can have a simple method to lock and standby your phone: Hold down the PTT talk button for just about 1 second then quickly tap your power button. As soon as the application begins launching your phone is already being locked so you do not have to wait for it to display anything other than the spinning "please wait" wheel. Power it off right away.
This has made my life significantly easier, and I hope it helps yours!
Enjoy

Hmmm, doesn't seem to be working to well for me.
I orginally had setup up the 40C7 to open my "File Manager" (which worked fine)
SO I reset the value to "\Program Files\KeyLock.exe" where I had placed the file.
I ran the program.. it asked me if it was ok to run I told it yes... Scratched my head for a minute wondering what happened.. Went back to the post realized I missed step 5 "5. Also add a string called ResetCmd with the same value."
So I created a new string ResetCmd with the Value "\Program Files\KeyLock.exe" restarted the phone.. when I press the button now the loading thing comes up and the screen seems like it either flashes or flickers.. and nothing happens..
Than tried reseting the phone by pressing the little button at the bottom, after it booted up still no luck.
Let me know your thoughts... ( I used mobile registry editor as well )
What language is this programmed in, I'll just get the software from my work and see if I can play with it a bit...
OH and FYI running AT&T's Stock loaded Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
or you can download devicelock1.2, and map it to one of your hardware buttons. pretty much uses the built in device lock, but it makes it available so you can map it to a button, thus no need to use stylus to lock.
no need to unzip, just drag the file into your phone and install.

Where would I get this?
^ i updated my post, its attached now.
Ty, I ended up searching the forums for it and found it. I'll give it shot and post back in a few.
Thanks Device Lock 1.2 Works Like a Champ. TYVM for your help sir.
Hmm whats the deal with the beeping noise right before it initates the locking?
(I take it back, I like the beeping noise..)
Whats the deal with if you have it on EASY unlock. and Black Screen
When you hold down PPT to have it lock... then after it the screen goes black you press ppt again... Your easy lock is than disabled?
(I should probably post this in the Device Lock 1.2 orignal thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305402&highlight=device+lock)
I'm honestly unsure why it would not lock your device although I did set up a numeric PIN for my device which it prompts me to enter. Try running the .exe from the Program Files directory if you're still interested. If it doesn't lock your phone then I'm unsure why.

Yea I had tried that too. But the Device Lock 1.2 seemed to have solved my problem. Thanks though.
Hi:
Sorry if this is a dumb question. When you use DeviceLock, do you still have to press the power button to wake up screen before unlocking? I hate that power button, it is too hard for me to find sometimes lol.
Thanks!

when you use device lock, it will lock your phone and dim it, not turn off the screen. so you do not need to press the power button to wake it up before unlocking.
there are options in the settings that will let you turn off the screen when you lock, but i dont think that is what you want. leave that setting unchecked.
hopefully this tutorial will help fpsece be more fun/playable for everyone.
UPDATE: FPSEce configuration-imo this is one of the best set ups for the wing, but see what you come up with. a little tricky but here goes.
1ST to do this i utilize htc home and battery status plugins. i have been playing this emu overclocked to 299 mhz for periods of up to 2hrs. i do not condone this behavior! and don't even suggest it! but, you get the best gameplay out of the emu.
2ND, make sure all running apps are closed except fpsece, with your device in regular portrait mode with htc home on your today screen, open the keyboard on your wing, go to your programs tab on htc home and press the portrait to landscape flip button. if you you do not have that one activated take a sec and swap it out with one of the other buttons it should be worth it. after this your screen will look funny cause your keyboard is out and your screen has flipped back to portrait orientation.perfect!
3RD, navigate to fpsece and open. go to options/misc/display/landscape left.
4Th, go back into options and choose the joypad/assign buttons. now turn the device so you are looking at the keyboard normally. these are my keymaps but feel free to do your own! PAGE UP-TRIANGLE PAGE DOWN-X ARROW LEFT-SQUQRE ARROW RIGHT-CIRCLE A-LEFT S-UP D-RIGHT Z-DOWN Q-L1 W-L2 O-R1 P-R2 START-SPACEBAR SELECT-TAB MENU- CENTER OF DIRECTIONAL PAD on the screen portion of the wing. finally hit ok!
5TH hit the start tab, then iso and finally navigate to your game WHICH SHOULD BE IN ISOS FOLDER ON YOUR STORAGE CARD. this way you can keep many games on your storage card!
pocket iso guide- http://pdai.org/michu/fpsece/ldrguide.html
this will get your game file sizes way down and your memory card less cramped as well as more games will be compatible with fpsece.

my settings are on usa...recompiler...arm v5...GDI...fast boot...but these may or may not be the best. i am still learning the ideal options myself. i think vga is supposed to be the best/fastest but it depends on the type of device. also i know on some games, gran turismo for example, that adjusting the frame skip number does help speed the game. example: if you are getting5 fps set to 1 on options this will bump it up closer to ten. if you have 12 fps bump up to 2 this may get you closer to 20 fps and so on.

Setup your controller settings. Bind a key to "menu." Then press that key during gameplay, tap options, then adjust the frames from there.
Ok, i have a HTC Heremes, but i thought i'd just ask here, instead of opening a new thread in Hermes section. I get stuck at FPSece screen, no matter how i set up the options, nothing happens. I loaded ps1 bios. And i'm trying to find a tutorial or guide, but can't find any, all of them are mostly about ripping. Any ideas?
try reading this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369855&page=8 . also try the link in my sig!
Yea i got a question or 2.
All the ps1 ios' are like 25mb +
How am i susposed to put them on the phone since the phone dont have that much memory, and i cant reach my memorycard through activsync,
also i have dialup *errgg* and downloading iso' that big is a little impossible for my internet connection, is there a site to find iso's 25mb and smaller?
OK, I downloaded the software to play the games but I don't know where to get the games from. People have said they would be around 25mb, but I can only find ones for 350mb+. Please help. I have a Touch Pro 2
Wow, way to raise a thread from the bottom of the sea there...and about a completely different device too boot. Anyways, the games are not going to be 25MB, if they are then they are either demos or homebrew stuff. Most PSX ISOs are AT LEAST 350MB, but can go as large as a CD, IE 680MB or so. You can try to compress these down using that tool in the first post, albeit you will have to search around for it since the original creators website is not around anymore.
Ok, I've spent forever and a day looking this stuff up....so I have everything I need. Now if someone could walk we through getting my isos's to show up in the isos file that would be great! Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
Did you actually download the ISO's? And if you did, you make an ISO folder on your storage card and then transfer the ISO to it.
forgive me if this post is in the wrong section - i'm new to this forum
i've got a problem with my htc p4350 (herald) when using fpsece
i can start fpsece, but when i try to load a .iso file, the screen turns black for about 10 seconds, and after that it just returns to the home screen
i cannot reach any options screen or etc.
i got the right bios copied and trued 3 different files to load
maybe these are just the wrong files?
(in that case, which files should i try, and where can i get these?)
thanx in advance
bram
I followed this thread but it doesn't work. http://eten-users.eu/index.php?showtopic=14659&st=0
It just doesn't launch. I also tried a cab I found in another thread, same problem. Am I just doing something completely wrong?
Eh, bump. Does anyone else have it running?

go to the following link and download the vga files, extract, copy folder to memory card and enjoy....

war2 works for me np on fuze, well with the exception the menu button is a little high on the screen so doesnt always recognize being clicked
hey i have it on fuze aswell and am wondering about 2 things
1 is there a way i can align it so that the screen is facing the fold out keyboard?
2 is there a way to move a peon withought clicking on the Move icon?
such as right click? or set the game up so its command and conquer mode with one click gameplay?
I am also interested in finding out if you can make it face the keyboard. There has to be a simple fix for this. If I could somehow get a hold of the source I could probably do it myself.
Also, apparently opening the screen causes the screen touches to be recognized in different areas than they are rendered. Is everything messed up on the Fuze? Emulators are broken, generic WM games don't work, drivers are busted...
click on "options" and select fullscreen, and it'll flip it correctly!
I downloaded http://rapidshare.com/files/90257783/Warcraft_2_PPC_VGA__freeware__with_game_files.rar.html as linked from http://heretical-rantings.blogspot.com/2008/04/free-games.html and put it on my storage card.
I ran Stratagus.exe, and clicked options then selected fullscreen.
Everything seems to work as expected:
I can click the peon and click the m onscreen button then click to move him.
I can click /drag the minimap to scroll around.
I can use the TP HW nav buttons (The hardware ones on the capacitive touch area) to scroll around.
If I click and drag in the main viewport I can drag-select.
HOWEVER
As soon as I slide open the keyboard, it all starts to go wrong.
The hardware nav buttons scroll in the wrong direction.
Click detection goes screwy. Clicking somewhere on the screen generates a click for somewhere different.
Clicking and dragging in the main viewport scrolls the screen (In an unexpected direction)
I see the SIP appearing through the game screen in a flickery manner.
Also, none of the HW keys on the slide out keyboard work:
Hitting the M button does not put you in move mode.
The HW arrow keys scroll in the wrong direction.
Also, apparently there is meant to be something in there that makes a quick tap equivalent to a right click? I see no evidence of this working.
Can anyone help?
Runs fine on my device except for crashing to "desktop"
Well, the subject line says it all for me. The game runs great until the levels start to get large and complex, the an random times (while saving a game, while clicking on research/character/building, while doing nothing, etc.) I'm returned to the "desktop" with no trace of the game running. Anyone else jhave a similar issue?
if your game crashes on your fuze you're probably using the QVGA version. go download the VGA version. the QVGA warcraft 2 has some crashing issues on VGA devices. VGA version is as previous people said, at my blog.

Hello all,
i have searched quite a bit for an emulator which mimics the Blackstone on your PC.
I am new to Rom cooking (1 day to be precise) and dont want to risk bricking my own so i wondered if there was something of an emulator which i can use to test Roms.
thanks in advance,
- Mega
same is my case...
No idea if this will do what you want, I'm not entirely too sure how this works.
Windows CE 5.0 Device Emulator
http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/...12-ca31-4be9-a3bf-b9bf4f64ce72&displaylang=en
WM 6.5 Emulator is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...1d-97a8-4f80-bc6a-ae010e085a6e&displayLang=en
But I've no idea how to run a blackstone's ROM on MS's emulator.
I'm trying to do same thing that you want do.
Was checking about it a year ago.
Got no answers
Seems its not possible at the moment.
I created an emulator (at least in looks, I don't think you can do a hardware emulator) for my Touch Pro and used it in Visual Studio 2005 Pro when I played with development.
Basically you have three images:
1. A skin (the chasis of the phone, I found a high res image and sized it properly in Photoshop).
2. A layer of what the skin looks like with all buttons pressed (make the Talk button look like it lights up or something).
3. A mask layer with different colors identifying the buttons (Green = Talk, Red = End, etc.).
In an XML file, you'll define the hex codes for the colors and assign an action. For example, if you used green for the Talk button on the mask image, you would enter something like "00FF00 = Talk", so when the Talk button is pressed in the emulator, the "pressed button image" shows the Talk button being "pressed", and the mask image tells the emulator to bring up the dialer, since green (00FF00) = Talk in this case. I've got VS 2008 Pro now (I tinker, not really much of a developer), so I'm not sure how you do it in the standalone emulator. I'd imagine it's a similar process.
-EDIT- I just read your post again, and I'm not sure how you would change the ROM that the emulator reads, since it reads the MS issued ROM when it boots. Maybe have to compile it as a .BIN file, once again, not sure on that.
visual studio includes one (might be useful if you are considering some developing down the line)
Yea, sorry if I made that unclear to Meganut and the others who were asking, VS includes the emulator in the development environment, so all I had to do was make the Touch Pro skin. I'll work on a Blackstone skin and post the files so you guys can hopefully use it as well in the standalone emulator...I just ordered a T8285 today, so I may want to start playing again, so my gain is your gain. I'll try to get it done tomorrow at work.

An HD skin for my emulator would be awesome!
Sorry it took so long. Here is the emulator skin for the Touch HD. You can examine the XML file and PNG images to get a feel for what I was saying in my previous post. I've named the files so that you can drop them in and overwrite the default 800x480 emulator in the 6.1.4 SDK Refresh (the default looks pretty pathetic anyway). If you are insistent on keeping it, just rename the files. Reason for doing it this way is I hate screwing with making a new emulator, and if I want to change images (6, 6.1.4, 6.5), I can just move these four files around I have the same skin using a different ROM.
--EDIT--
I corrected the Home button and uploaded the changes below (I changed the mask file also to make it about four times smaller than it was), but for some reason the "Back" button will not respond, although I've tried multiple masks and hex codes to make at least do something. I'll continue to dig in to the Back button issue, I won't have much time this weekend though.
-EDIT-
Scratch what I said here if you already tried it. Like I said previously, I use VS2008 which comes ready to run, so I'm not sure what is needed to get this to work in the standalone emulator. Maybe some of the guys using the emulator can shed some light?
As some might have mentioned above, to make the MS emulator (or any for that matter) run a different ROM is impossible at the moment.
dwizzy130
dwizzy made a good point, the ROM images used in the Emulator and Visual Studio are as Microsoft created them before any vendor touches them. You can "install" things on the emulator and it will retain everything after soft-resetting, just as a physical device will, but chefs won't be able to create their ROMs in a file useable by the Device Emulator. Maybe some of the brilliant people on here can see if they can tear the BIN file apart...

Just found that the "Home" and "Back" buttons aren't working, I left them off of the XML definitions. I'll leave the "rough draft" version up here for now so you guys can get a feel for it. Depending on whether you've installed Visual Studio or the Standalone Emulator, you'll have different paths to put these files, so make a note of where you install it.

Thanks for that. I created my own, but yours look far better
Just one thing: if one would like to revert to the original skin for whatever reason, it might be better to rename the files to e.g. Blackstone.xml etc.
Any chance to get the home and back buttons working? I'll check if i can find out on my own, but seems you're more experienced with that.
Thanks, glad you like it. I'll check on the Home and Back buttons today.

That would be great, thanks a lot.
Meanwhile, i found the buttons, but would be great if you could check/confirm. I did check the back button with AEbutton and it gave me the same code on both physical device and emulator. Not sure about the home though.
<button
toolTip="Home"
onClick="0x3B"
mappingColor="0xE6E6E6"
/>
<button
toolTip="Back"
onClick="0x5C"
mappingColor="0xFFFF4B"
/>
The updated skin has been uploaded (it is at the bottom of page 1).
6Fg8, I had to use 0x3E for the "Home" button (which is the same as End), the 0x3B works as the Left Soft Key. I've made several attempts to get the back button to do something...anything, no matter what mask I use or hex command I assign to it, it just sits there. Since you have some experience with the emulator files, feel free to go in and play with the XML/PNG files and see if you can get it to respond and if you figure out what is going on with it, let me know...my weekend is sort of tied up, so I may not have much time to dig into it over the next couple of days. -EDIT- Maybe you can give me some pointer in this aspect, I've found it doesn't seem to matter if I use "onClick" or "onPressAndHold" if I only assign one hex command to it, as no other advanced menu options are assigned. Have you found that it makes a difference?

Thanks for the skin update.
I tested the back button with AEbutton, see here. This is a great piece of software and lets you redefine keys including custom keys, and you can see what code is sent (at least for the custom keys added). Just installed it on emulator, added a user defined key for the back button and an action ("show actions menu"), and presto - works. Compared with the real device the keycode is identical, so i assume the definition is fine. Unfortunately, the home button cant be captured on the PDA for comparison.
The difference between onClick and onPressAndHold is only when the event is fired. onClick fires on button release, onPressAndHold fires on button press and repeats sending codes. So if the software which receives the key doesnt care, there is no difference.
work great, thanks for this and the updated version!

How to use skin in designer window?
thanks for the skin it looks great. I am new to Visual Studio and so wondered if you could help with two problems I have relating to using the HD skin.
firstly, I get to see it in the emulator but it is larger than my screen and it will not scroll up. can this be overcome?
Second, how do I get to use the skin in the Designer Window so I can see what the screen will be like when placing objects on it?
I've tried many ways but to no avail so hope you can help me.
Thanks
Gary

If you want only the english language...you can ignure the steps with language... But you must change to 120 dpi and change the dialer (contacts.apk)....look here:
Htc ime... it´s a long way....
Start....:
Installation Instructions
1. Install both HTC_IME.apk and Clicker.apk.
2. Rename/remove the file /system/lib/libt9.so (I suggest renaming to libt9bk.so). You need root permissions to do this (the program Root Explorer works great.)
3. Menu -> Settings -> Locale & text. Enable 'Touch Input'.
4. Go to a text field and long-hold until a menu pops up.
5. Select 'Input Method' and then 'Touch Input'
1.1 Download the latest htc ime from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567294
or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=661525
2.1 make the system root/write access to change the name of libt9
- open terminal
- type "su"
- type "mount -o remount,rw /system"
... and then I could rename the file w/ Root Explorer (must be root explorer..i think)
3.1 change the language: look here:
http://ostebaronen.dk/changing-htc_ime-language-to-danish/
a bit easier: change to htc ime...go to sms and long press on the input text...now a menu come and you can change....
go in a explorer to: data/data/com.htc.android.htcime/shared_prefs/com.htc.android.htcime_preferences.xml (now visible)--and copy it to sd card...
open the xml and change the language code (like in the link)....copy it over the old one....
please do not change the lang setting in text input settings...(you don´t see a lang in this box now)
i think it was all
edit: for the correct view: change to 120 dpi....and take my corrected dialer:

Now it´s all...i hope
Super easy, you can get the HTC keyboard in 240x320.
Just follow the instructions,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=661525
You will need to d/l the two files and install root explorer.
I'm curious - why do folks like the HTC one better?

Because we have now QWERTY(Z) compact qwerty and this is what i like a normal phone keypad...like a normal mobile phone
edit: @ GeJohnO...sorry..2nd link from me is the same...i only have a bigger statement because of language collect all important info´s and correct the 110 dpi issue (HTC_IME looks not good in 110 dpi)
With kind regards..Alex
personally i like the HTC keyboard because i feel the text prediction better because of the clicker.apk includes a calibration app and it seems to adapt to me alot fast than other keyboards.
i also like that if i want to use a number or symbol i can just long hold on a key instead of having to switch to a secondary menu all the time
also staticchmbr i feel like i know you from somewhere?

i do like the keyboard that it comes with, but my fingers are too big. i hit the "." when i mean to hit "space", and i hit other buttons when i dont mean to. i want something that will learn my keystrokes. my buddy was telling me about HTC_IME and clicker, but i cant seem to find the right files. i looked into a tatto build, and took the apk files, but they wont install. i get "this program can not install on this device" error
just seeing whats out there. i tried installing the 320x480 myns, but the screen doesnt line up right on anything for me.

That's your problem. You have a 240x320 hardware screen on the Vogue, and you are trying to use a resolution that it is not meant for. I do not understand why people think they can do this, and still expect things to function. First of all, you do not NEED the extra resolution, I run about 20 games and 15 apps on my phone, of all different sources, and 240x320 is fine. Secondly, use LCD density "113", just change the build.prop file before flashing NAND, and you are good to go. I have zero issues at all, with any apps.

i AM running the 240x320, but tried the 320x480 just in case that was the issue. finally got it installed, but everytime i run the calibration it says" SORRY, the application has stopped unexpectedly. please try again".. maybe i just dont have the right file? i got it from another topic on here:

Can someone please tell me what is wrong with the default Android keyboard? I am 6'7" tall, and my hands are HUGE. My pinky is bigger than my wife's thumb, and I actually text with MY thumb, just fine, which is friggin huge, and I have no issues.
I am just baffled, because I see these 'alternate keyboard' threads all the time, so obviously there must be an issue for some ppl with the keyboard, but I guess for once it is not for us fat-fingers folks. Is it hard to use for small fingers maybe? I am so curious about this as the Android keyboard is such a breeze for me to use.

Yeah, I love the speed of the default keyboard. I've tried Betterkeyboard, and all those, Shapewriter, I think just about every one, and while some are cool, and hold potential, for me none compare to the speed of input in the default. I can type pretty damn fast with the default.
The only keyboard I can see being significantly better is Touchpal. If you remember it from Winmo, it was a FAST and efficient keyboard. But the developer keeps promising a release date, and renigging on it. If you feel like a laugh, go check out the forums:
