WiFi Connection Manager - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Do you connect to many different Wifi connections?
Do you have some WiFi connections using fixed IP and default gateway?
Does the next WiFi connection require DHCP?
Well I think I have found the answer!
A little free app called WifiProfiles
I have installed it on my TyTN II and it allows me to create a profile for work with a fixed IP and default gateway - a profile for home with DHCP and a fixed default gateway - a profile for general roaming when everything is DHCP and automatic and as many other profiles as you want.
Wifi Profiles for Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 Professional.
Highlighted Features:
- Create and apply wifi profile.
- Apply profile without soft reset.
- Automatic discovery of wlan (wifi) adapter.
- Fast switch to DHCP settings from menu.
- Automatic turn off/on wifi adapter.
- Create new profile based on existing profile.
Known Issues:
- On some devices You must first turn on wifi "manually" from connection manager after soft reset (device driver is not loaded/activated). But process of applying profile still works correctly - only wifi is not turned on from WiFi Profiles application. Will be handled in new releases.
Planned Features:
- Outlook SMTP server switching.
- Location triggered switching.
- Today plugin.
- Finger friendly profile selection. Better UI for IP address, data validation. Progress info when applying profile.
Installation:
- Download CAB (WifiProfilesInstall.CAB).
- Copy WifiProfilesInstall.CAB to Your device.
- Run WifiProfilesInstall.CAB.

Click to collapse
Hope this helps you as it has me.

Integrated WiFi manager?

Is there any integrated WiFi manager for BA? Integrated - I mean the one that would be a merge of the default WM5 Wireless manager and the Network Cards->Wireless portion? Additionally an 'Apply' (after selecting the 'Wireless LAN On') would be useful...

IE's automtic configuration script

Problem: when I connect the HTC with my portable pc, only internal sites are accessible..
The only difference with at home is, that the portable at work, uses "Use automatic configuration script" in IE - Tools - Internet options - Connections - Lan settings".
I've looked everywhere in the PIE's options where to 'activate' the use of the same script.. but couldn't find it.
Anyone any ideas?
thx!

Linksys WVC54GC IP cam on Kaiser...working (Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc)

OK, this method was tried with a WVC54GC v1.1 with firmware V1.21.
We will have to see if video stream is same for earlier versions!!
Have TCPMP installed. (latest version)
Connect your WVC54GC cam to your network with open view access in setup (that is NO PASSWORDS) for basic view, not tried peer to peer yet cause its late and kn..tired).
Make a WiFi connection from your phone to the same network.
Open TCPMP, select 'File' 'Open file' and type into the top field http://the.cam.ip.add/img/video.asf where 'the.cam.ip.add' is the network address of the camera (of course )
I saved my links in a directory called Cam Links (as 'whatever.cam instaed of .txt) using Activesync then used Resco explorer to link them to a TCPMP ( IE open these with!!) upload for automatic viewing!
Hope it works but expecting lots of queries...
OH BTW, there is about a 10 second delay on my setup but HEY, who cares cause the vid quality is great?
One other thing...
Make sure you hit the pause button before you shut down TCPMP as it tries to open the camera on next load.
OK, here is a method to connect it peer-to-peer (direct connect with no hub)
Get it up and working as in the first method.
Change your camera wireless settings (New SSID, fixed IP (Ex 192.168.1.115 subnet 255.255.255.0) and Ad-Hoc (peer to peer).
You will have to also edit the security settings for wireless as this camera can only use WEP in Ad hoc.
Select 128bit encryption and enter a 5 character passphrase, hit generate and make a note of this long hex string and select shared key.
On your phone, go to 'Settings' 'Connections' 'WiFi' and on the Network adapters tab, select WiFi and set for 'Use specific IP address and enter something close to your camera (Ex 192.168.1.110 subnet 255.255.255.0) click OK, then under the Wireless Tab 'Networks to access' select 'Only computer to computer' you should then see your camera.
Click connect and enter the hex string you made a note of from the camera encryption, be sure to select 'Shared' and it should connect.
Follow the instructions for TCPMP as in first post and you should have a fully portable WiFi camera (apart from the mains adapter!) to take around with you.
If you need to go back to Standard WiFi use, you only have to re-select 'All available' under Networks to use and under Network adapters re-select 'Use server assigned IP'
Enjoy.
This method should work for all Linksys cameras and just about any camera if you can identify the jpeg or mjpeg video output stream (ie. http://the.cam.ip.add/img/video.asf in first post)
Anyone tried this yet?
it works for me
It work for me. i use orb too.

Need Help with VPN - Pretty Please!

Hey guys and girls,
I am am about to give up on my search for a working, cisco compatible, VPN client for Windows Mobile 6 on my Kaiser.
After some research I found out that one of the following clients should work with Cisco networks: MovianVPN, BluefireVPN and AnthaVPN.
Got myself a copy of each software, but none works.
MovianVPN v4.01 - most promissing, cause Cisco profiles can be directly importet. but it seems to be only for WinMo2003. Installations works without problems, but afterwards you can't start the client.
BluefireVPN v2.1.1 - installation doesn't even work
AnthaVPN v7.5 - installation without problems, client runs without problems, but: after installation the Kaiser can't establish a w-lan connetion anymore (not at all! even when Antha isn't running) Antha installs an own weird w-lan driver, which seems to mess things up
Please! I am close to madness. There must be someone out there wo knows a way how to connect to Cisco VPN with the Kaiser!
Thanks for any helpfull answer in advance!
regards,
cartonneexpress
NCP Secure
Hi,
I have used NCP secure to connect to a cisco VPN, here are a few links:
Compatability List: http://english.cyprotect.com/main0182.php(check for kaiser, it's mentioned somewhere)
NCP Secure Link: http://www.ncp.de/en.html
Hope this helps...
AnthaVPN support - nice try... but, ...nope
AnthaVPN support just sent me the following:
>>
Check this option from a forum:
After installing anthaVPN and change the registry entro from "2" -> "1" WIFI works correct.
HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms\HTCPowermode=1
<<
I looked at the registry, but had to find out that this entry was already set to "1" at my device.
it sounded so promising...
NCP Security Client...
Hey Reaper,
thanks for the advice! Installation of NCP was no problem. Everything seems to work fine afterwards.
But I have some trouble converting my Cisco profiles to NCP. NCP doesn't accept /convert the Cisco profiles (.pcf). I tried to create a new NCP profile with the information I got out of the Cisco ones. This is all the information that was in there:
Host
GroupName
GroupPWD
(after connection Cisco asks me for my personal login name and pwd)
I tried to bring these informations into a NCP profile, but it didn't work. Can you tell me how I must create the NCP profile?
Thanks,
cartonneexpress
By the way, I'm still open for other suggestions! Especially how to get MovianVPN working. Cause I could use the existing .pcf profile with it! Isn't there a coder out there who knows how to get a WinMo2003 programm running on 6.1?

[TUT]Connect to PC`s WIFI hotspot using Virtual Router.

Hello. I was searching on google how to connect my android to my PC`s shared Internet over Virtual Router.
I wanted to share this method because as I read there were many problems connecting to Virtual Router (works only on Windows 7 with Hosted network support).
Sorry, cannot post any links to application or sources as I have no access to that option.
Do not know if this will work for you but it worked for me. It is worth a try.
1. So, first step is to verify that your WiFi card is supported (search google - "virtual router supported devices" and at second result you can check that).
2. If you do not have supported device, sorry, can not help you. But if you have, then download Virtual Router manager v0.9 BETA application and run it. If you cannot start Virtual Router follow all next steps. But if you can start it and you can connect with your android device to Virtual Router then go straight to the step no. 10.
3. Open command prompt with Administrator privileges. (Windows button + R)
4. Enter the following command: netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Test key=YOUR PASSWORD GOES HERE
Keep CMD window open as you will need it later (This will create a wireless access-point with SSID of “Test” Windows-7-Wifi-Setup)
5. Open the Networks and Sharing Center, then Change adapter settings.
Notice that there is a new "adapter" with labels:
Wireless Network Connection (may have some number at the end)
Test
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
6. Right mouse click on adapter with what are you using internet on your PC and select Properties.
7. At the Sharing tab tick both boxes and at Home network connection drop-down menu select adapter which you created at step no. 4 (Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter).
8. After you have done these steps, go back at CMD and run this command: netsh wlan start hostednetwork.
This will start Virtual Router as well (if you left it running at step no.2). If you closed it then start Virtual Router and click on Start.
9. Now try to connect with your android device to Virtual Router.
10. Check if you have an internet connection by going on web. If you can connect and have internet connection then you are lucky and that is it for you. But if you can connect to Virtual Router but do not have internet access then follow these last steps.
11. On Windows, the Networks and Sharing Center, then Change adapter settings.
Double click on Microsoft Virtual WiFi Minispot Adapter and click on Details.
From there you will need this information: IPv4 Address and IPv4 Subnet Mask
12. (Note - you have to be connected to Virtual Router because I did that ant that was the way it worked for me) On android device go to Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi Settings. Press Menu button and go to Advanced.
Note the IP adress which Virtual Router have provided to you.
12.1. Tick Use static IP
12.2. In IP address enter the address which Virtual Router had provided to you.
12.3. In Gateway enter IPv4 Address from step no. 11.
12.4. In Netmask enter digits from IPv4 Subnet Mask (255.255.255.0)
12.5. In DNS 1 enter 8.8.8.8 and in DNS 2 enter 8.8.4.4 (those are Google Public DNS).
12.6. Press Menu button and select Save.
Now you can check if you have a internet connection.
I hope this will work for you as it is working for me.
If this helped you, do not be shy to click on Thanks
Credits for steps 3. - 8. goes to user_01 from virtualrouter.codeplex.com
and
Credits for steps 11. - 12. goes to lorenz from londatiga.com.
Of course, these steps are not just copy-paste, I wrote them going through those steps.
Thanks and your welcome.
I tried but it doesn't create a new adapter called "Test"
SSID will be called "Test". Adapter will be called Wireless Network Connection (may have some number at the end)
