Hmm for me I had to navigate to
HKLM\Software\ArcSoft MMS there are a bunch of setting in thee though. Trying to find the right one.
Jake: What version of ArcSoft are you using?
If you have ArcSoft 5.1.3.7
go to HLKM/Software/ArcSoft/Arcsoft MMS UA / Config / mm / mmscsetting / Sample MMS
Change all the values to 102400 that way you can send 1mb files over MMS. Works great for me.
Each time I do it... over many ROMs now..

The one that says size limit.
Yeah, I change all the ones relating to size limit.
AT minimum, there will be 3 receive limit values, and 3 send limit values. I set the receive to 614400 for all of them, and the send1 to 204800, send 2 to 409600, and send 3 to 614400, so I still have a choice of a sending limit inside my server options. I never use the lower ones though... I should just set em all to 614400.
Sometimes you will see MMSsendlimit or MMSrecieve limit... I treat them the same as I treat the others. Max the receive and set the send to the gradual thing like I said above.
I've set mine over 600kb and sent mms's and never got billed per kb, i'm on the medianet unlimitted plan with at&t. BUT i've noticed only WM ppc's can recieve the mms's over 300kb.
My friend with a blackjack, another with a blackjack II, one with a SE, and one with a n82 never recieved the mms, the black jacks gave a notification that the message was too large to download and the others got a text with a link online to view the mms. hence i keep mine at 300kb...
Messaging
I tried this and i got the limits to change Nice. I changed mine at the sending limit section. On my settings it had 6 sending limits 3 were for wap 1.2 and another 3 were for the wap 2.0 the receive were set up the same. i still have not tried sending something that big but its nice knowing that you can.
On the other end?
will not the mms that you send that are larger then 300k be rejekteted if the other party dont have a hacked or changed unit since they have a limit on the reciving end.
sorry, missed the post above.
ive done some testing on this and it seams to be in the neighborhood of about 400-500k that will actually be delivered on the other end, even though the system will accept up too 1000k.
I have the original media net plan on my phones with 200 mms allowed and unlimited internet and when i go over 300k for my mms i have not been billed for multiply mms or have they put it towards the KB side of my bill.
i decided to do some testing yesterday. I changed my MMS sending size limits to 600, 700, 800, and 1mb. i tried sending a file that was between 700k and 800k and it didn't send.
So i set it back to 600k. will mess with it more later.
Also to those that are afraid being charged for messages over 300k. The 300k limit is for dumphones and phones that can only connect to gprs/edge. Our phones and 3g devices have a 600k limit henc not being charged for increasing the amount.
Kinda related, but not really. i know outside of the US you can send anonymous texts using HUSH, but here in the states i can not find a way...yet
Under:
\HKLM\Software\ARcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\ Config\UI\SendOption\SendAnonmously
and
\HKLM\Software\ARcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\ Config\UI\SendOption\SendAnonmouslyFac
Does anyone know by changing any of these values if it's possible to achieve this, and if so what do i change the values to?

Sending limit?
When you are changing the size limit within the registry, and you successfully do it, do you need to have the original HTC Messaging program in the phone ? Cause i have an Elegancia ROM by Miri flashed on my phone and i changed the registry sending limits and all i see still is 100 200 and 300 Kilos as options under WAP 2.0 .. Can someone help me?

After tapping the GPRS icon in the top bar, I get 'To connect to either Internet or work, set up a new connection in settings'. Ts there any way to transform it to a regular 'Connect to [my gprs connection]'?
?? and ??
GPRS is automatic once you set it up. You can get software that makes sure the GPRS never disconnects if thats what you want. I'm not sure what else you want to do.
I believe what he wants is a icon to click on to connect to GPRS on command.
I myself have actually been searching around for something like that and just haven't found anything like that yet.
What's the advantage of doing that as apose to it coming on automaticly or staying on all the time?
Here are my reasons:
1). GPRS once turned on, will disable receiving incoming calls. So if left on all the time, you'll not be able to receive any calls.
2). There are some programs that will not call up GPRS automatically (ie tcpmp - for listening to streaming music). With an icon to select and turn on GPRS, I don't have to open up IE and use more program memory than needed.
Well those are my reasons.
Ah, well that first one (disabling calls) can be done the clever way using a small and free program from - http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/csb/csb.aspx
You can be quite flexible as to if you want to block all calls, or just people on your contacts list etc.

Or you could just put your phone in flight mode. In WM2005 it's possible to put the phone in flight mode and then turn just the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on. But of course this would stop you using GPRS, and you won't be able to make outgoing calls.
Your second reason is quite intresting though, I've just tried out streaming an online radio station over GPRS and it does just about work!
Very intresting idea now that some low cost unlimited GPRS options are appearing.
I don't know of any (free) GPRS connection programs though, I just opened IE to google and closed it, then opened the stream file in TCPMP and it all just worked.
Thanks for the info on disabling the phone.
I actually meant to say that if you leave the GPRS turned on, you will not be able to receive any incoming calls (which I would like to receive).
So the option of leaving the GPRS on all the time is not a valid option for me.
Like the first user who posted the question, I would still prefer if there was an icon for me to click on to enable GPRS without opening a browser window thus sucking what little program memory I have left on my HTC unit.
But thanks anyway. I'll use the disabling software to disable receiving SMS and text messages.

...
In order to connect to GPRS one has to go to Settings->Connections->Advanced->Select networks->[choose connections set]->Edit->tap-and-hold a connection to select 'Connect'. Is there any other way?
Yes, it can be done via Spb GPRS Monitor, but the extra icon uses up too much space :|
on my original cingular rom it would alow me to send an MMS message of any size. ive upgraded to faria's 3.3v2 (and others) that include ARCsoft MMS and it the largest file it will send or receive is 300k. are there any programs that do not have this limit? if not is tere some way i can get the original MMS program? cingular doesnt seem to have a carrier size limit on the MMS messages and i would like to be able to take advantage of that. thanks for the input

Hello Everyone,
Is there a way to text for free on a g1. I cant afford a texting plan so I need a free alternative for the phone. I know google voice is one but they still haven't started the service for free. Its only by invites. Like on the iphone there is a way but I dont know for g1. Are we charged to use google talk on the g1 with wifi connected? Please let me know.
Thank You
OF COURSE!!!!
Not MANY use it, but I used to before I got GOOGLE VOICE.
its called EMAIL!!! its almost just as quick to receive as a text...
For A List Of Carrier email addresses do a google search or go to the carriers website.
EXAMPLE:
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
yup, the only tricky thing about using the email method is you have to know exactly which network all of your contacts are on. it's good because they can still text and reply to you and you can receive it later in email archives.
you can also text through IM apps. put all of your contact numbers in as buddies into a mobile group. then just send texts that way. the downside is, if u are not connected to the IM service you wil not get any texts.
both good alternatives with pros/cons. but free assuming you have wifi or unlimted data.

Yea I used AIM before I used GMAIL and now Google Voice to text mobile lines...Im surprised ALOT of people dont use either (AIM or GMAIL)...
Also if you wanted to send them you can use websites like text4free.com. I don't know how you would recieve em tho.
You know, you COULD just send an email to THEIR EMAIL address rather than to their carrier's email-to-sms address....

Same thing on Hangouts. When i send a group message, I only receive individual text messages back.
You're right, I just did some testing and it is a mess... MightyText having problems too.
i got this problem but i managed it to fix it by editing sim card phone number.
if you go to settings - about device - status, is it showing unknown under my phone number?
if yes then you'll need a rooted phone to fix this (at least that's how i did it). download app call simeditor on play store. follow the instructions then reboot.

no, i think you might have a different problem then.
Is your Wi-Fi on while doing group messaging? If yes, try turning it off.
In regards to making Hangouts your default messaging is there a way to define which number the text is being sent from if you have a Google # and your own cell phone number tied to your account? Had this problem on my Note 3 and not sure want to use Hangouts if I can't change my sending # to my cell phone number.
Tried going into settings but couldn't find anything.....
Any help would be greatly appreciate.
Crap that sucks. I haven't tested it but the settings doesn't have group messaging option either so for sure there is no way to enable it. In comparison the image below is from my note 3. There's no such option in the note 3 messaging setting.

OK I THINK I FIGURED IT OUT! CAN YOU GUYS TEST.
Add 2 or more recipient
Then hit the menu options (3 dots on top right)
Click "Add subject"
A subject line will show up
Type a subject. In my example as soon as I typed "Q"
I saw a pop up that says "converting to multimedia message"
Finish your subject line
Now send the message
Now if you delete the text in the subject line you will see a pop up that says "converting to text message". This way will only send as individual texts. So a subject line seems necessary to make it an mms group text.
Somewhat similarly on my note 3, if I add 2 recipients, automatically the convert to mms shows up. No extra step.
And when I remove one of the two so I'm only left with 1 recipient, then it goes back to regular text.

I finally got to put my Sim and restore my phone and fully test it and this is now what I get when I have 2 or more recipients. I'm not sure why I didn't have this option when I didn't have the Sim card in.

I have this exact Issue. Was just going to make a new thread. If Wi-Fi is on it wont work. As soon as you turn it off it goes through. Its supposed to toggle 4g to download the messages. Weird. Anyone else having this issue ?
Only way I was able to solve this was to install Textra. In the settings section, there is a section that is especially for T-Mobile users, I.e. temporarily turn off Wi-Fi when an mms arrives.
I was using adblock plus with the proxy server settings on my WiFi connection, since uninstalling adblock everything is working properly.

I decided to use the new ISIS ready SIM card and I'm back to the other way where I have to add a subject to make it a group MMS. So if you are planning to use the new one just keep this in mind. I don't need ISIS payment and luckily I had an older unactivated sim card and once I activated it and used it, the "Group conversation" box was there again.

When Hangouts is enabled for SMS, you should see a menu appear in the same settings area when you enable SMS. Send SMS from. You can change the default number there.
Have been having as issue where MMS messages occasionally won't download, resulting in a missed message altogether. There are a few threads about this. I ultimately stopped using my G4 because of it because I miss about half the messages I'm sent from group chats. Occasionally a reboot would help but ultimately it just stops working. As much as I wanted to love my G4 this was the final straw :/

I'm on AT&T so I don't know if this helps. I have the same problem and after much research, I've narrowed it down to adblock plus blocking the MMS port. For AT&T I just have to change the MMS port from port 80 to port 8080.

Hey guys. This is a known problem with T-Mobile. So I did some research today and it's some sort of WiFi conflict. Anyway, I downloaded Textra which has a setting to fix it! Boom no more issues Also, Textra has a setting to block the StageFright vulnerability.
