Good video codecs and settings for Wing - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

Hey, I was wondering what video apps would one use to create 30fps video playback on the TMobile Wing.
If not the video app, then what codec and settings could I use to playback good video... I'd hate to buy a Apple Nano to playback videos..
Thanks

????? - tcpmp is working perfect for me.... for watching movies....
but making videos with built in camera - there will not be an app with 30fps -- coolcamera is better then built in - but only 20fps...
please describe your wish a little better

Hi,
I'm using Windows Media to view videos captured by the device itself without issues.
TCMP for viewing all other formats without issues as well.

"The Core Media Player"? I'm trying to download that without success..
What I'm trying to do is convert QT's of my demo reel to a format that my Wing can play without dropped frames and I was looking for video settings that could help make transcoding smooth for the wing...

Ya.. So I download TCPMP and pocketEncoder. My playback on my wing is still choppy, but get a bit better when I reduce my fps to 15.
What settings are people using to get 30fps?
BTW, I'm using TTrans001's latest OpenTouch v3_Biggie
Thanks

video playback, cpu to slow?

I replaced my qtek2020 (400mhz) with the tytn2. With my qtek i was able to play almost anything (divx with high bitrate, vcd files, streaming 800kbps video over activesync) . The tytn2 seems to be to weak to play these files.
www.streamingpda.nl --> humortv (800kbps) stutters.
Divx --> without reencoding stutters.
Does anybody know a solution, please help, its the only thing i am dissapointed in with my new baby.
thx
anybody?
Ok, maybe no one has a solution but can somebody confirm that he has the same problem?

I went to the site you reproted and saw the same problem. The video seems to play ok for about 20 seconds and then goes in to a jerky frame mode. The sound is still clear though.
Oddly, I went to the windows media site from the windows media player that this site seems to demand and watched some clips there that played flawlessly.
Might it have to do with the way your site is encoding their stuff?
I am a noob but the windows media player offers almost no options to fiddle with to try to make things better. How to force the video to play with TCPMP?
I tried windows media player (not a lot of options indeed) , tcpmp (the latest version) and Makayama liveTv. They all sem to have the same problem. It is ok if the bitrate is below 500 kbps. I am giong to try that windows media site.
I'm having the same problem. As the video plays it will skip parts of it. but as you say the sound is fine.
have you tried setting your video driver to GDI? i would think that would solve the problem
How do you do that?

GDI or Rawbuffer?
what does GDI do?
so we have to use tcmp? wmp is useless if we want some kind of quality or flow? What the hell were you thinking HTC? give us some new drivers that works with wmp! allways a guinea-pig.
Posted this in another thread, but it applies here as well.
I'm using the Core Player and I tried "GDI" vs "Raw Frame Buffer" and the benchmark tells me;
GDI=Ave Speed of 135%
RawFrameBuffer=Ave Speed of 168%
Guess I'll stick with Raw, it plays my Divx vids perfectly, but I encode mine at 320x240 just for small gear like this and iPods. They look very sharp and clear at these modest rates.
I also tried RawFrameBuffer with the Keyboard Open=163%
So is my TyTN 2 worthless for playing back h.264 videos ?
I'm trying to playback the DL.TV podcasts in native ipod video encoded .mp4
It is already formatted 320x240 at under 400 kb/s w/AAc audio...
The sound plays fine, but the video stutters along.
Benchmarking only comes up eith 58%
Do I need to fix the settings ?

Video from the Kiser on a PC

OK, so I have recorded a Video on my phone and can see it with the PPC Media Player v10 on it.
I get this .mp4 file to my PC. Now what? Windows Media Player has no friggin support to view .mp4 files!
I found alternative viewers, that all nice, but how do I convert this so I can see it on any pc or inclusively upload to lets say YouTube?
Try Quicktime....
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/
VLC media player...
Thanks to both of you. I tried both, and VLC actually has no audio...
Re: Quicktime, yes, it is pretty ubiquitous, but requires QuicktTime to be installed.....

what , where?
In the settings of your camera you can change the format it creates. Put the phone into video mode and then go into the camera settings.
You just need to get the right codec pack to enable Windows Media Player to support .mp4 files. A quick google search for 'windows media player mp4' turned up what looks to be a good howto on the subject:

Great. Now I am able to see the video on my PC... but still haven't found a nice (aka free) conversion app that would allow this to be seen on other computers.
Anyone with good and free application suggestions?

I envy you guys. I still own my O2 xda iis and like it very much. I wish I could afford this. I just want one that's unlocked.
The KLite Codec Pack, which is really handy (tons of codecs in one install) gives WMP support for the MP4 and h263 vids. 3GP can only be played in Quicktime, I belive. Quality wise, they should all be about the same (pretty terrible).

Playing video on Tilt (Choppy picture)

I just installed CorePlayer and when I play video (WMV) It's extremely choppy. I also tried it on WMP and its also very choppy. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? TIA

LOL, he already said he tried coreplayer
set the video settings to raw frame buffer and see if it helps
Call HTC and ask them to send you the video drivers for your phone.
Are there any specific or recommended settings for converting to AVI of WMV? Divx or Xvid? What setting for those of you that have gotten video to play what settings do you use? I'm using TMPGEnc to process the video.
The phone is not even 3 months old. Doesn't it come with the latest HTC drivers? Can I download them?

The "drivers" is a joke. They Kaiser is missing the Hardware Graphics acceleration drivers. Check out http://htcclassaction.org.
Dave
My problem is that video playback seems random.
I've converted some video clips I've downloaded from the internet, using PocketDivXEncoder, and am using CorePlayer for playback.
The first time I view, the quality is great - but subsequently they are choppy to the point where they are unwatchable.
I can't understand why this should happen.
I've played around with a few things - I thought I'd got it sussed when I moved the clips to the DCIM folder, but again it only worked the first time.
Weird...
As a side issue, for future reference, what are the recommended settings for quality/size/bitrate etc. when trying to load video onto my TyTN II?

It seems to me that you have some program running that sometimes uses a lot of CPU resources and prevents the video player from using them.
As for encoding, I'm usually using ~350kbps divx video/128kbps mp3 audio in 320x240 frame size.
I thought that...
Closed all apps, even did a soft reset...
(Thanks for the numbers by the way)

Pocket Divx encoder
I had the same problem with my touch. TCPMP would not play large video's .avi even though it supports it. I used Pocket Divx Encoder to reduce the .avi according to my screen size and now I can watch any .avi without any problems and the audio and picture is still incredibly clear. I max out video and audio quality still with no problems during playback.
Pocket Divx Encoder is free
Hope this works for you and enjoy your video's
I use CorePlayer (based on TCPMP ) to play my Divx files (700 to 900 Mo each resolution 660*360, datarate 1010kbps) without any specific Mobile transcoding and it plays quite well with the right settings, with some rare glitches (but i guess it will never work flawlessly until we have the real Kaiser drivers).
TCPMP is good, but Coreplayer is faster on the Kaiser from my own experience.
The only down side about Coreplayer (aside from the fact its not freeware) is that it cannot play AC3 sound unlike TCPMP (due to open source licence)
why i dont understand it...when i had my standard att WM 6.0 rom that came with my tilt...i watched avis and mpeg4//divx movies CRYSTAL CLEAR....and thatt was with no htc ca driver or none of that ****. And now ive upgraded to WM 6.1..first duttys hybrid then L26 and now garmins...and each rom has the same problem...old tcpmps crash and when i use the repack tcpmp app and it works....i have SLUGGISH and chopppy fps when i watch avi movies and mpeg stufff. How is this possible with all the new drivers and such....it was crystal clear to watch movies with WM 6.0..but with 6.1 its choppy and ****ty playback? has anybody found a better fix for this other then converting the movies to sccreen resolution?

Sorry, my previous post was meant to be reply to felixthecat.
So, to make things clear:
- XviD4PSP is not media player for PPC.
- XviD4PSP is software for converting videos. You can find it here.
- MP4 iPod 5.0G is just one of the format settings in Xvid4PSP.

I use Core Player for videos. Videos converted with XviD4PSP using my settings does not play well in WM player. You can try it with some other settings.
Here are my current settings:
- Format: MP4 iPod 5.0G
- Denoise/Sharpen: Disabled
- Brightness/Contrast: Disabled
- Video encoding: XviD HQ Ultra
- Audio encoding: AAC-LC ABR 128
I don't know what you mean with "bigger vids", but I use it for converting my divx/xvid movies and shows to MP4 and it works well. I think it supports even DVD files, but i didn't try that.
Last time i checked it took 6 minutes to convert some 30 minutes divx show to MP4 (Athlon X2 4000+, 2GB RAM, GeForce 8800GT).
One more thing about Core Player
Core Player with default setup gives me audio out of sync. But you can adjust that in options.
i tried those settings and didn't get a good result
works now i have upgraded coreplayer ... thanks alot

best video viewing app?

anyone have any suggestions for the best video viewing app for the gtab?
thanks!
Rockplayer.
Video Player
I'd have to go with MoboPlayer. Much better UI than Rockplayer, and doesn't seem near as choppy. Plus you can have a library type setup too. Check it out, it's free on the market. Also, when I downloaded the one from the market, it had me download an older version when I loaded it up for the first time. The older version actually worked better for me.
I like mVideo player. It runs very smooth on the G tab and it does have a library system with the ability for you to download cover art.

It depends on the file and how it's encoded. I've got a bunch of recorded TV that I've compressed to 720P mp4 files for my HTPC. They run about 1 Gig/hour. The only combination I've found that plays them on the GTab is the Calkulin+Clemsyn combo with Mobo Player. Even then I sometimes have audio sync issues. I'm sure I could transcode them on a different setting and get better playback, but that's where I am right now.

So is there a ROM that runs 720 and 1080 videos with hw acceleration ?
Guys, use the hardware encoder and make sure your video file is MP4 H.264 - I said this because I spent 1 weeks just for trying to get better player and turns out ---> It's all about hardware encoding/acceleration.
I'm currently using QQPlayer & VitalPlayer (both free version) and all my videos are 720x480 MP4 H.264 (this give me a good size of file 1.2GB each movie)..AND MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYER USING HARDWARE ENCODING rather using software encoding!
Video converter software that I've been using (IMO) - very low CPU usage, 12hr for 10 DVD movie conversion in MP4 H.264 720x480 with subtitles is WonderShare Video Converter Ultimate - pretty good converter and average CPU usage (all 4 core 3.3ghz) is 15% - repeat 15% all cores' CPU usage....
Tried another such Cyberlink Media Espresso, Movavi converter - LOL they are all running 100% CPU utilization
Good luck guys!
ughhh dude....You WANT IT TO BE 100% CPU utilization................
Unless its using Cuda or Open CL...
lol....
I found a new player I am trying out. arcMediaPro can be found on the Market. It has some great configurations but it too struggles with some HD movies. I use my GTab as a video player to hand my drivers to review their practice session as they get out of the race car. Just grab the microSD from the camera and put it in the GTab and launch the video and hand them the GTab. I do notice the audio has some syncing issues on some recordings but I am still going through the settings which are more complex than any of the other video players I have found. Here are a couple of links to these in-car videos..
