Looking for today plugin app launcher. - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I am looking for an app launcher today plugin. It must be a today plugin because I want to install it inside ultimate launch. I am wanting something other than just the plain icons on a grid that ultimate launch allows you to do. I love the functionality of the programs such as itask but I don't like the iphone look.
Any suggestions?

battery status

SBSH ilauncher
I have tried SPB PocketPlus too, but that didn't play nice on my old HTC Universal so never bothered going past the trial period and haven't tried it on the Kaiser since ilauncher works so well.

This place has a very very very customizable today plugin that do pretty much anything you want and then some. go through their forums. It's easy to start, but I got soooo addicted to tinkering with it. try it, and if you like it, let me know what you end up with.

how about claunch? http://pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=808

Ok I am trying out SBSH iLauncher. Does anyone know how to put PocketBreeze inside one of the tabs?

why don't you just use the built-in one ????

Mixing Technology! HELP?!?

Ok i just have a real quick stupid question about apps. I have a copy of SPB Pocket Plus http://spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en that I LOVE but i cant really stand there SPB Weather app. So i bought the app Fizz weather http://www.fizzsoftware.com/products/weather/weather.html
(which is awesome) but i dont really like it taking up my so much of my today screen, so i was thinking that the obvious solution, SPB Pocket Plus allows you to customise your tabs, would be to make a tab for Fizz Weather. Thats how it shows up with SPB Weather. Well I cant figure out how to do it and i thought that maybe sombody out there might be able to help me. Im relativily new to PDAs and i dont know much.
BTW i do not like Fizz Moniter so i dont think thats an option pluse it doesnt offer the tabs like SPB PP does
Thanks for any comment that might be made

is pocket plus 4.0 better than have HTC touch?

Hey, i just finished reading about pocket 4.0. i seems to be like the touch home, and seems to add a bit of Iphone functional;ity.
Peep the Video!
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/pocketplus/?en
just curious, maybe i didn't set up my phone right, With touch, is my phone already supposed to be like this?
This is what Touch is

Pocket Pus 4
Wow great find! I actually like it! Not for the today plugin, but for the other features. My Wing feels more responsive. The new fingure scrolling/or panning is awsome, and the new task manager does an awsome job too! PIE tabbing too!
I was using the TouchFlo Alpha4 cab but i rather have Pocket plus 4 install just cause of the goodies.
Update..
Can anyone confirm if after installing Pocket Plus 4, your app launch faster?
ok. ok.ok
I have touchit lite and after seeing that video I am missing something. and again to have that we scroll around option looks preety damn cool
Use it with Touch it

Use it with Touch it
I use Pocket plus with the new touch it 2.0 rom on my wing, and it's great. I just disable the today screen feature because I prefer the way the HTC 6 tab today screen works/looks. You can still use the enhanced pocket IE (Scroll anywhere, tabs etc.) and their great close button feature without enabling the Pocket plus today screen interface.
Oh and as a reply to Rodney, it doesn't make my Wing any faster, just like the way the new features integrate with the touch it Rom.
that ks Duprade, I now realize my phones capabilities . and Nane921 I will give it a shot along with ur recommendation .
Thanks!
Pocket Plus 4
Agree with you there. Don't like the today plugin but love the other extra features. I havent installed the Touch it rom yet. I'm newbie and i'm so afraid to brick my only phone. I just did the pagepool and loveing my phone now with HTC pligins and SPB's Pocket plus Scrolling and Paning and PIE Tabing. Now if my phone coult make me some Coffee would be great!
Update..
Just realized you can go to the PockecPlus 4 settings and uninstall just the today plugin and keep the rest.
I prefer SPB mobile Shell - a combination of pocketplus and a real great "Now" screen that shows you all important infos before going to today screen.
Like missed, calls, phone, sms a clock, the appointments...etc.

Hey, I never saw that aprticular post you were talking about, But i did run into another.
Thanks all for the info. Since D made me see the light, I know know how to make my cube work. Neat as all hell. A few of the Mac'ers at my job are now making funny faces.
I am not to interested in the whole 4.0 package, even though I could prob find a crack code, I am happy with the way lite works.
I would just like WE to work like it does on pocket 4.0.
TouchFlow x pocket plus
As I found out reading the spb forum, the smart scroll function is not available when installed in devices running TouchFlow ROM. I wanted to try it but it's not even available in the options (even if you select it during instalation). they say that it's not compatible even if you disable the TouchFlow in the device.

Looking for a Today screen recommendation

I've just downloaded the HTC Home Customizer and it's great, but now I'm thinking I might be looking for something else.
What would be the best option to maybe get a row of buttons down on the bottom or up at the top, or both? I'd like to clear out the screen in the middle especially for my wallpapers and wasn't sure if anyone has something like this set up.
Also, if anyone has some screenshots of them, I'd like to see it. I've looked through the 'Today screen' thread but didn't see much for what I'm looking for - or I could have missed them.
Just got my Tilt and I love it so far...
Thanks!
Where did you get the customizer from? I've been looking for it...
Ive just switched over to SBP Pocket plus, the new version is great! You should be able to do just what you want with it.

Thanks. That looks like it still takes up a lot of screen real estate and that's what I'm trying to avoid... and it's also something I'd need to purchase. I'm hoping there's some free 3rd party apps like HTC Home Customizer, etc.

spb mobile shell 2.0 vs Dutty...

anyone care to chime in on this??? Is it worth going to the spb? Can you install over top of latest Dutty? Looks pretty cool!
Dutty is a rom..... SPB MS 2.0 is a program. It'll run on any rom.
Yeah I know that it is... I guess I was meaning how does it compare to just running HTC home? Worth the buy?

You can download a trial for it. Mods please move this thread the Kaiser Software forum.
but this has nothing to do with dutty's rom..
for me its worth the buy...read more on the spb website
sorry..
Guess I should have posted over there sorry..
SBP products run great and are essential for any phone but I only use SBPdiary w/HTCH on my Today screen. Most of their products run great in the background, SBPTime for powerful alarm clock, stop watch, and world timer. SPB Phone Suite excellent calling features that can run in the background as well.
I typically enjoy HTCHC but from time to time I wish I had the artistic and technological skills to create something different
I have a Tilt, and I tried installing both SPB Shell 2.0 and SPB Pocket Plus 4 on Dutty's April 1st rom, and they worked but did one weird thing, when the phone would boot up the signal would go in and out, flashing there, then not there, then there etc., it would do this for almost a minute before finally locking on a signal.

I would say that the SPB Mobile Screen 2 program is awesome! I have been using it on top of Dutty's Light rom and it works great. Real smooth and responsive, lots of customization options as well as nice fit and finish which is hard to find on a WM6 product.
If you want a free version you can always check out .... to find all the crack codes for almost any software package out there.
As far as the downsides go, it eats battery faster than normal, it does not run on your today screen which bothers me and you can OK through it and go back to your today screen. That problem is slightly solved by SPB making it your default app when you start up the phone and bring it back from sleep which elevates most of the issues.
I just flashed my phone and am going to try giving HTC Home Live a chance, but if I do not think it is customizable enough I am going straight back to SPB... Before I forget to mention, SPB has one of the best opening screens I have seen so far, it has a email, missed calls and text messages right on the front, as well as weather, call options, clock, and the best part a calendar with dates and your schedule all in an easy to read form.
I hope this clears up something for you. Hopefully you wont have to pay for it, but if you do, I would actually say it is worth the 30 bucks.

That's because weather updates on bootup.
It sucks but does level off & then everything works.
Besides that, they both work excellent for me together

I tried the spb mobile shell trial and it's also nice.
Try Pointui as well, you might like it and not buy spb mobile shell at all. The last time I tried this was when it just came out in Alpha stage and it did quite well and was fast with the original, slow wm6 OS that came with my Tilt

Ahh, so that's what's causing it, I was going nuts trying to figure out why that was happening with them, thanks dwny! It does level off after a minute or so like you said and then it's fine, I was thinking it was screwing with my signal or phone, but if it's normal and not a problem, I am putting them back on. I am so glad you posted this, I was missing my SPB stuff, HTC Home just isn't cutting it for me. I had hard reset the Tilt and reloaded Dutty's Rom, and left off those programs because, like I said, I thought it was an error.
Edit-If I shut off the weather, will it stop that behavior? I don't use the weather on SPB MS, It doesn't have the weather for my town of Redwood Valley, I use Weather Bug and Weather Watcher for that. It's weird, I didn't have this issue when running MS or PP on Laurentius's ROM's. I take it that the signal thing is only visual, ie.the signal is actually okay, but while it's updating at boot up it "shows" it as going in and out, no?

Be careful with Point UI, it's tricky to uninstall (there is no uninstall for it in the "remove programs" page), and it leaves pieces of itself of it allover. I tried it too, and it has a ton of potential, but they really need a way to get it off the phone, right now it's an exercise in frustation.

Quick question, what did you think of Point UI? worth installing and flashing again? I am fumbling around with a lot of different UIs? I have tried Ultimate Launch (bit too complicated for me to setup the way I want, SPB Mobile Shell, (but it drains too much batt), HTC home (not customizable enough.) If you could let me know a little more about the POINT UI that would be awesome before I put it on my phone. Thanks buddy.

you tried htc home customizer w/ quick launcher?
There are many customized icons, clocks, backgrounds, and weather views. In addition w/ quick launcher you have an extra row of tabs, which you can change to go to any program (and icons of course).
I stuck with HTC embedded inside Ultimate Launcher.
Ultimate Laucher is not that complicated if you look carefully a little bit of patience and you'll get the hang of it, moreover you could just copy your Ultimatelauncher.ini file as backup to have the same setup each time in case you like flashing roms a lot.
For HTC Home there's HTC Home Customizer, lots of icons to download.
I've tried most of them, but i always end up with the simplest setup I guess I got tired of fancy sliding and multiple clicks, the fewer clicks to find what I need does it for me.
Btw, there's another nice today app I'd like you to see it's rlToday Check it out

Manilla vs. Htc Home

This topic may be a bit premature seeing how manilla 2d is still in it's beta stages but...
I havn't tryed Manilla 2d yet but for everyone who has, what do you like/dislike about it? Would you prefer it over Htc Home? Why would you? I'm using Htc Home right now. Especially with the nice Htc Customizer.
I suggest you try it first, before creating a thread - it only takes 5 minutes..
and to answer your question I prefer Home.
Manila absolutely no question about it. Seriously, this is like asking if one prefers a bumper car or a real car. Just my .02 but i think you'll find most will choose manila.
over Manilla
I found this thread while looking for a non Manilla ROM after being annoyed by the screen rotation to not want to use it any more.
Looked cool initially...
it looks cool and stuff but i changed back from manilla to the htc home because manilla had to many bugs

Search for AthineOS. He made two roms, one for manilla and one for htc home. Rom is superfast. I also suggest Duttys_WM6[1].1_5.2.19700_Hybrid_V2 rom. Not so lite as AthineOS rom, it's a very good rom and always had decent battery life no matter what radio u used...
Back to topic..
This is exactly what i wanted. So far poll is 2-2. I think Manilla will outweigh HHome once all the bugs are tweaked and landscape = 100% other than the quick fix he has out right now. In any case, they are both really nice apps to have for our today screen and for the authors to have many donations going there way..
Home until the bugs are sorted although have recently fiddled with mobile shell and throttle launcher. I find I keep going back to home with ultimate launch.

Great analogy mate haha
I figured I would try Manila2D for a day and then go back to HTC Home when it first came out in a Rom but from the moment I first used it I fell in love with the feel and ease of use. You can navigate through all the menus using your finger or DPad as prefered whereas Home tended to be very fiddly and I was always using my stylus or the start menu to get where I wanted. Im using SJ's OPAL build 11th Oct now and I have absolutely no bugs and its extremely fast and responsive. In my experience most of the people who have experienced problems in the latest builds have been down to bad flashes. I always advise everyone to shut down all other programs and keep the Rom update program in the foreground when flashing and to take out the sim card to avoid all posibility of glitches occuring.
Manila wins hands down anyday.
I use neither, because:
1. Manilla vanilla, shmanilla. Sheesh, if I wanted a touchflo device I would buy a Touch Pro/HD or something like that. Every second thread in development and hacking is about manilla something or other. Enough already.
2. I HATE fingerprints, smears, etc on my screen.
3. HTC Home requires far too much Today real estate!
This is my setup:
PhoneAlarm Pro with B&W pure Skin (small footprint)
PDC (Pocket Digital Clock) with Alien Round fonts
Sun n Moon
Homescreen ++ (Ex Batterystatus) with Tray Icons activated.
SPB Traveller
TodayAgenda
And then I use S2U2 with an animated gif. That's it.
I use manilla. I love the customization of it. I love using my fingers to get to the things I use. I alos love the themes I can make. Home just never appealled to me at all. I was lucky enough not to have my phone bit for a week or two before M2d came out.
I use Manilla. It's attractive, responsive, and well laid-out. It's not perfect, though -- I find the built-in weather app pretty weak and I like Live Search better than Google Maps. But even with those complaints, I still prefer Manilla.
You forgot the "None" option. No matter how hard I try, I keep going mad at those "newfangled" interfaces - both of them - and end deactivating them after 1 hour.
Good'ole today plugins and Quickmenu rule.
MANILLA!
If I wanted things plain ole, I'd buy a flip phone or something. Manilla looks great, works great and I wouldn't have anything else.
The new ThrottleLauncher 0.9.5 Beta destroys Manilla. I cannot stand how hard it is to customize Manilla (not graphically), where ThrottleLauncher can be customized very easily. The lastest release is quite fast!

Yes you can always buy a new device with TouchFLO but roms are something free.
I have used Manila for a few weeks and, trust me, you won't have fingerprints on your screen unless your fingers are sweaty. You will always wipe away your fingerprints with touchs

I'm definitely keeping my eye on ThrottleLauncher. I like it a lot in concept, and customizability is great. But my experimenting with the 0.9.5 Beta didn't impress me much. It still felt a little sluggish and I just couldn't control it as accurately and quickly as manilla.
I need to try loading it onto a lighter ROM and doing a little customization.

Make sure you installed NetCF 3.5, and that apps are set to use it as defualt. I turned off all the transarency and went into the vars.xml and set my fps to 30 (because the editor is 20 max). It's smooth and quick.
PM me if you want the NetCF 3.5 standalone cab and NetCF config tool cab. I don't want to hijack this thread more than I already have.
why doesnt a chef put the new TL on a rom ...that would be so cool
I like having all my info available to me on one screen, especially the weather. I have my phone set up to use HTC home, Calendar++, and weatherbug. I don't have any ugly scrollbars on my screen, I have a clear view of messages, time, next appointments, and weather for the next three days, all without having to click through various screens. Plus, Manilla, HTC Weather, and pretty much any other built-in weather app I've used does not have weather info for my small town I live in, but weatherbug does, plus I get severe weather alerts and it's very customizable.
I hate Manila, it sucks to me! HTC Home allow you to have more things under control on the screen. HTC Home no doubts
