I've read in another thread that the AT&T service agreement prohibits use of the phone as a webcam, but do other carriers?
I'd be more interested in a method in which the phone is recognized as a webcam via USB for use with a PC, rather than by itself. I suppose that would be major software work, though.
Anyone know if such a method is possible/in the works/available?
i believe you are allowed to use a tilt as a webcam, if you are doing what you are asking about--as a usb webcam. i think they prohibit direct streaming over the network, thus taking up much of its network resources. then again thats just my thought, i may be wrong... but otherwise, i have no idea of any programs... sorry
Try looking for a program called Web camera+ (its made by ateksoft).
It will turn your phone in to a web cam. AT&T doesnt allow you to make video calls. These are two very different things.
Also, the search button would have solved this problem for you. It has been asked and answered before. Sorry to be mean but let this be a lesson... *lol*
I searched for "webcam" and "web cam" and only found 1 thread which didn't mention that company or that program. Unless it was in another forum.
First result on the search I did
http://www.ateksoft.com/webcamplus.html
Does any one has a demo copy?
may be this is the reply to all questions
for all you people who want web cam plus

Hi, I have done a lot of searching on this topic, but haven't been able to find anything definitive on the best way to install blackberry connect. I am about to pick up a Siemens SX66 (Cingular version, but will be using on Tmobile) and want to make sure that I will be able to get the blackberry functionality to work.
I have a few questions/comments/observations that I would love to get everyones feedback on. If there something out there that explains how to get it working, I am sorry and please feel free to point me in the right direction.
1. My understanding is that the blackberry connect software is in the extended rom. So far I have been able to find the following cab files which I believe have the blackberry software: htc_pocketpc_tmo_germany_2.0.0.25-18.cab, HTC_PocketPC_TMO_Austria_Germany_Load_Working.cab and htc_pocketpc_tmo_england_2.0.0.25-18.cab. Not sure what else is in here, but it looks like the blackberry client is there as well.
2. If I use one of those roms, what language will the software be? Will have to use the tmobile UK version for english?
3. I have been reading about people have problems with the phone rom. These are post from a while back, it seems that the UK blackberry client need version 1.0 and the german version need 1.06? Is this correct or can I use the lasted phone rom?
4. Is there any limitations on the System Rom or Extended Rom? Do I need a specific version? I want to make sure I have english on the device though.
5. Let's say I do get all the right software. Is there a problem in the US where Blackberry won't register Blackberry Connect PINs? I was reading in another forum that someone was having a problem with this on their SX66 and also I am upgrading from a Sony Ericsson P910a where I couldn't get my PIN added to Blackberry servers.
The main reason I want the device is to replace my blackberry and this is extremely important. Other functionality is awesome, but secondary as I need to make sure I have access to my corporate email.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!
There are 2 threads in the blue angel section that have Blackberry connect ih the title. Might be of help.
Thanks saw those posts after, I figured the info would be in this section. I posted some questions there as well, but any help would be appreciated. Not sure if this is going to work....oh well..
To the best of my knowledge...
NOBODY has been able to make the BB Connect software work on SX66 on Cingular.
I've all but given up. Maybe WM2005 will be different...
Crap, though I take it the problem is Cingular not the phone right? Do you know if anyone has been able to get it to work on T-Mobile? What is the problem you are having, is it the PIN / IMEI registration issue?
that's certainly a part of it...
pin/imei, software (nothing supported). The blackberry connect desktop software for XDA2 is a couple years old and does not let you change the PIN.
No way to configure, so you're hosed. The O2 software on the pocket pc is also locked to an O2 blackberry APN. No way to change that either.
It's possible that somebody somewhere has taken the T-Mobile German MDAIII software -- and somehow obtained the T-Mobile desktop software -- and translated both --
but I doubt it! Definitely not to be found anywhere on this site...
Of course, I'D LOVE TO BE PROVEN WRONG, as this has been the biggest issue for me since I got this bloody device.
Bottom line: either use the crap XpressMail redirector product that Cingular offers, or use IMAP/POP on a "pull" basis. Neither way works well. We're screwed until Cingular steps up to the plate or until some brave soul on this board saves us all!

Umm i hate to say this but also that PIN number is alos tied to a carrier, and RIM will NOT release that PIN number to be used on another carrier's network, i know, i am a data support rep with Cingular. if you want something just like the Blackberry then go pay and get the GoodLink solution, otherwise i wouldnt complain about something free that cingular offers, I use it and i agree it isnt the best but works pretty damn well considering it FREE!!! for the PErsonal Edition. Besides, if you wanted to use the BWC (BlackBerry Web client) it isnt exactly Push either, the only forms available are the Redirector and the BES, but considering Congular is offering a solution for FREE i woulnt complain if i were you. If you wanna get mad at not having that solution get mad at RIM not Cingular...... :!:
Re: that's certainly a part of it...
Well I have the desktop software in english and just installed the german software on my sx66. I think I got it to connect but its hard to tell. Iwonder if there is any other software out there....

Damm, I actually just found the software for 2.0 software for Tmobile UK. Now it only gets an IP address for two seconds then looses it. I think its the same problem I had with my p910a I can't get the server to recognize it.
Please prove me wrong!
Figure out how to make this work, and you'll be the hero of every Cingular / SX66 user on this board!
I am getting much closer now, I hacked (hex edit) one of the dll files to point to an IP address of 206.51.26.192 instead of 206.51.26.189. I know the .192 is the right address from my old blackberry. Now I actually stay live on the APN with an IP address and everything, where before I would get one for a second and get kicked out. I think it's a matter of registering it now. If anyone wants to try this dll, replace the one in the windows directory. Also I will upload the version of blackberry connect I am using... Please try as well...
Here is the dll I mentioned...replace this with the one in windows directory
Seem s like you are getting somewere on this issue.
Feel like writing a How to so that we can post it on wiki?
If you need help PM me I can also move what ever files that you like on the FTP site.
Thanks, just haven't gotten it to work totally yet, but that may just need a call to Tmobile to ask them to set it up. I have made progress in the fact that my blackberry.net apn now stays connected, where before it would disconnect after a minute or two. I think I am half way there. Need some more people to play around who have tried before to see if they get anywhere...
Can you also post the desktop software version you're using?
There hasn't been a recent posting of the BB Config software in quite some time...
Thanks!
It's too large, check the ftp server. look for somethign called bb_desktop_sw_mda3_20.exe It's up there somewhere.... poke around uploads as well...
Oh wait... I got it from tmobile directly, hehehe...
http://www.t-mobile.de/business/blackberry/smallbusiness/1,8236,8577-_,00.html
So you're using the German version?
Make it work, and I won't care what language it's in!
I agree, first I tried the german one, before I found the Tmobile Uk one. Did you try downloading everything and installing?
yup...
still can't make it work on my end... although I haven't changed anything in Hex...
Try the dll I fixed up also, let me know if it makes any difference....
With many other HTC phones, i know that they have a program called 'Network Sharing' which very easily enables you to use the phone to connect to the internet via bluetooth or usb on a computer. The latest one i've seen would be the Cavalier, which when connected via usb would show as a network connection in Vista, per this program.
I am wondering if the Kaiser has this, I would assume that it does (when bought directly from HTC, as i know AT&T would disable something as user friendly as this).
Anyone who has this phone currently, would you be able to help me with this?
Thanks,
elbweb
P.S. I am picking this phone up tomorrow, so hopefully the answer to this question won't cause any regrets beforehand...
yes
enjoy!

Well this was something I already assumed would be included and happy to hear I was right in my assumption. In regard to AT&T removing such a user friendly option, they did in the original shipped wm5 rom but the update wm5 did include "Internet sharing" just a comment for those that would be worried at&t wouldn't include this.

well thank you both, no more questions for me
okay i use blackberry connect with my tilt and i would like a aim yahoo and msn program that will run on the blackberry connect apn. everytime im loggged in to blackberry connect on the tilt and i go to use im+ its signs me out of bb connect and signs me into media net to use im+. i would like a instant message pogram that works on the bb connect apn or a app that will allow me to edit the connections for the app. help
WOW so you posted almost the same thing here as you did in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=378736
But Yet, it's still a little different.
I use Slick and while looking through some settings it lets you pick what connection you use. SO, I don't have BB connect, there for I can't test it buuuuuut I'm thinking it works though.
http://lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick
Oh yeah my kungfu is strong this morning.
Question About AT&T Tilt
any way to run blackberry edge for blackberry connect and the media net gprs 3g connections at the same time so i can have blackberry connect running online and say a third party app like an instant messenger program??
currently if i use IM+ it will sign me out of blackberry connect and into media net and i would leike to stay in bb connect and IM+ at the same time. any suggestions?
ive seen some threads out there about how to edit the tilts connections to allow the blackberry vpn so when you use blackberry connect you can use other third party apps that will still use the apn blackberry instead of the media net and sign you out of blackberry edge. the setting dont work and none of the thrid party apps work so does anyone have any ideas what to do to make this work?
I laugh at you. I am trying to be nice mods. I spent a bit of time trying to help this newbie.
Sir/Mam please read what the mod posted in one of your other 2 threads, and then please read the post I made in your thread that got moved to software (where it belonged). Then try the software I suggested.
LOCK'ER DOWN
CLINK!
Indeed. Post your question ONCE and in the correct forum and thread!!
One Mod has already closed a thread, and I have already merged two of your threads as they asked the same/similar question!!
Also if your question is about Blackberry, then a new thread (IF ONE IS NEEDED) should say so in the thread title.
Mike
thank you i will try this and see what happenes. im new to the forums so i dont know all the rules. sorry about the double posts and what not. sorry mods
so i get this error trying to connect
error!
auth faild.socket error host not found. error number 11001
you need to try to go to the menu, then configuration, scroll down to Access Point and then change to whatever method you need. If that doesn't work then I don't know what else to tell ya.
ya it only works on the media net connection setting not the my blackberry connection which is what im trying to do so bbconnect will always be connected and i can have slick running as well.
You've been registered with the forum for 15 months, that isn't new to the forum.
You should be asking these questions in a blackberry connect thread. Heck, you might even find your solution already listed in one of those threads.
Hello,
I would like to hack bluetooth mobile from my diamond.
Which software is the best? where to find it?
Thanks in advance
tbh it depends on what you are trying to do with "hacking" this site will not advise you where or how to perform illegal activities. a quick look on google for such apps turns up about 20 or so good links.
how can you ask such a question in 2008...
... you cant browse file or even sent AT commands if you dont pair....
..... the only thing is that you can cheat like you need to pair for sending a picture and after that establish a DUN connection ,send some AT commands like reading SMS or searching phonebook.....but i dont think this things work anymore on WinMob
... i recommend you to forget about it and find an other solution like... get her phone while she is sleeping.
Hi all,
First and foremost, my apologies to all if the subjects in this post have been covered elsewhere. I've had this 2nd hand phone for only a week and I find absolutely great. I have spent the most of the last week searching forums and websites for information. Learning about new technology is something I enjoy thoroughly.
I can connect it up to my PC via USB and BT without a problem. It will connect to my WLAN without a worry. I will probably have more questions on those subjects later.
The 3 main problems I have are to do with are (1) the SIM Manager and (2) the speakerphone volume.
The SIM Manager problems are to do with:-
(a) duplicate entries after copying SIM contacts to the phone,
(b) not being able to choose between SIM and phone as to which contact list to use and
(c) not being able to edit those phone contacts on my PC like I could with Nokia's PC Suite.
(1) As far as (a) is concerned, I used "Kaiser SimFix" as suggested elsewhere in these forums and it worked a charm until I turned the phone off. It then went through the process of updating itself. After the update and seeing "UPDATE SUCCESS" at the end of several lines of tasks I found that I had to remove the battery and put it back in after a reasonable period (and yes I do know about powering down such things and waiting for the system to drain residual power) and found that the system decided to do a fresh install of the OS and everything else. Consequently, I lost all my settings and the "Kaiser SimFix" CAB file and it's effects. Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
In regards to (b) is there any solution at all?
As far as (c) is concerned, is there any software out there that will let me do this?
(2) In regards to the speakerphone volume, I have read about several registry hacks here and there that seem to have some effect on this problem but I don't think this is a viable solution as, from what I have read, if you turn the phone off you have to do the hack again. I don't want to be doing this all the time.
Are there any permanent solutions to my problems anywhere, other than buying the latest and most expensive of the new toys (which I would do if I had the money )?
Cheers and many thanks in advance for any answers.
Graeme
There are several solutions to your problems.
Get advanced config (do a forum search) or sk tools (commercial, google is your friend). Both provide settings whether to show sim contacts or not.
You can synch your contacts with outlook and edit them there.
There is a software floating around in the xda forums to improve speaker volume. Once again a search will help.
Hi altae,
Thanks for the qiuck reply.
I downloaded and installed the "Advanced Config" CAB and all went well until I went to launch the program itself. I then got a message saying I need to update my version of the .net framework. Am I correct in saying I'd have do that first? If so, how and where?
As far as using outlook is concerned, for private and personal reasons, the only M$ software I will use are there operating systems. If I had any experience using another type of OS I would probably go down that path, but I don't, so I won't.
I'm having trouble getting the Windows Update program on my X1 to do anything, and yes, I am connected to my wireless network and can surf the net from the X1. Update just sits at the checking screen and does nothing.
Where do I go from here?
Cheers,
Graeme
yes, you need 3.5 of .net compact framework as stated in the app's thread
it can easily be found on the forum or via google/microsoft
you can either directly dl to your device or to your PC first b4 installing
Thanks Draken,
I managed to get the upgrade to 3.5 without a hitch. I already like this WinMo quite a deal. It makes me look like I know what I'm doing. LMAO .
I'm going to have another look at this "Advanced config" over the next couple of days and see what else it does.
As far as the loudspeaker is concerned, the volume of the ringtones, alarms and alerts are all loud enough on my phone. I have been reading and searching for days on this topic and these threads all seem to be referring to those items mentioned above and the radio which I don't use. All I'm interested in really is getting the speakerphone volume loud enough.
I have found thread leading to a cab file called "OTPXperiabeta02.cab" and might have a go at that.
What are your thoughts?
Thats enough for now.
Cheers and TIA,
Graeme.

advanced config is what the name says: advanced
you can do good, but you can also do bad when overdoing it, so start easily, don't change too much in one go (most changes requires soft reset to take effect)
in case you get problems you have it narrowed down immediately to latest change
regarding volume, there are many threads out there claiming (and enabling) full volume for this or that, as I'm content with all available volumes I didn't personally try any of them, so I can't comment
the cab you named is not known to me, so again I can't comment
enjoy the device
If you dont like Outlook it is a bit more difficult to edit your contacts using your desktop. A solution would be to export your contacts to an xlm file. Once again I have to mention SK Tools which is really worth the monney it costs. But as always with Windows Mobile there is almost certainly a freeware out there that does the same.
Im glad you managed to get advanced config running. I completely forgot to mention the .net cf 3.5 requirement.
Hi Draken & altae
I'm definitely aware of making changes on a PC and would be more so on this new device because I know so little about them .
Unfortunately, with a WinMo device, you don't have the option of using the "Custom" option while installing software that you do with new PC software.
The OTPXperiabeta02.cab appears to have done the trick at the moment but I haven't had the chance to test it fully yet. It has been suggesated to me that the problem lies in the fact that SE made the phone with poor quality speaker so that they could sell more or their BT devices. I'm not so sure about this but you never know what the marketing management of a major corporation like Sony might come up with.
I haven't installed the "Advanced Config" cab yet and will do so with the advised caution.
As I'm getting sensible answers, I'm keen to keep going on this thread with other questions and my further discoveries about this toy unless directed elsewhere. Anybody else who feels like being involved with this thread is more than welcome.
Cheers,
Graeme.

No you dont have the same possibilities as on a deskop when it comes to installing a software. But many programs leave you at least the choice whether you want to install the software onto your storage card or if you'd like it to be installed in device memory.
Concerning your contacts editing problem: I don't know every software out there. I know that there are solutions to synch your phone with other programs than MS Outlook. Some of those solutions are freeware and others commercial. Look for relevant threads here at XDA or google it. I have always used Outlook and thus have not been in need to look for another program to synch my phone.
From what I read in the forums the OPTXperiabeta02.cab is the solution for your speaker phone problems because it (the cab) improves the volume of the speaker and therefore the speaker phone too. I can't judge how much this cab improves the volume because I have never used it (I consider the volume sufficient).
There is no reason to be afraid of advanced config. It's correct that you should be careful when you tweak your phone with this tool. If you change to many values at once you take the risk of running into troubles and not beeing able to narrow down the reason because you adapted so many values simultaneously. But you won't manage to destroy your phone with advaced config. The worst that can happen is that you need to perform a hard reset because you end up with a messed up operating system.
