I have just tested and can confirm that Touch Diamond comes with native support for mp4 video or video encoded with H.264 codec. Playing back 640x480 30 fps video is smooth both in the HTC video player and the WM player.
Haven't tried on 720p or even 1080p HD video. Will try it when I can get a hold some HD video clips.
Could you tell us what was the bitrate of the video and if it was h264 baseline profile or main profile?
and converted by what software?
I will try a few more clips later this week and give details about bitate, codec, etc. I did one test this afternoon and found that H.264 is supported
As for the software, there is no conversion needed. the phone can play the video that is mp4, or encoded with H.264 natively.
BTW, the latest flash player 9 supports H.264 videos and I expect more and more flash video will be using H.264 in place of the previous On2VP6 or Sorensen Spark codec.
Is there any software that records video in MP4? 3GP is so crappy, its too compressed.
i wish i knew, it would be awesome. tried to edit registry settings, but didn't work.
Manila cam is able to record CIF MPEG4.
I can use Virtualdub. Virtualdub is a well-known video capture, processing and editing software that allows you to capture video from an input source and perform simple video editing.
Where is point in converting 3GP in MP4?
My point is that i want to record in MP4 because qualitity format is better, you dont get better qualitity if you convert 3GP to MP4 later, do you?

Click to collapse
When i click on camera button nothing happens.
Well, that depends to the ROM you use and what is cooked inside. If you have TF3D, probably you also have that cam app which is different from the cam you launch via hw button. There, in the video settings, you'll find the MPEG4 option to be chosen. But... don't expect a big difference in quality recording and, btw, this one don't record in wide mode.
BR!
Im using default xperia rom with that installed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448178
hey guys, i was playing around with lg camera settings and i found a way to make it video record with the following options(****ty quality but at least its something for now)
video resolution: 800x400
video encoder default
video file format mpeg4
video bitrate 15mbit
video framerate 15
audio source micrphone
audio encoder default
By default I couldn't find this feature of recording the video at 30fps and then switching it to 60fps with audio recording like iPhone has. Can we do the same with some 3rd party app?
Is it possible to encode recorded videos using HEVC / H.265 codec or changing the video and audio bitrate of the videos? Some phones allow it with changes in the media_profiles.xml file, would it work for the Mi5 too? If so, is it ROM-dependent?
I've changed h264 to hevc in media_profiles.xml of JDCTeam AOSP 7.1.2 rom, but it doesn't work with stock camera app (change bitrate is work but codec doesn't). Use SnapDragonPRO camera instead stock camera app can recording video with HEVC code now.

Don't know about MIUI rom as I no longer use that bloatware rom a long time ago
