I just flashed my Tytn II with a new rom and some of my keys are now wrong i.e. press fn Q and get ! instead of @. I've searched and cannot find a fix for this. I tried putting on Alex's keyboard fix and it didn't work. Does anyone know where I can find the file that has to be edited to the right characters or a cab that will do it for me. Sorry if this has been asked before but I've been searching for 2 hours and can't find anything. Thanks
Use Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool to change Keyboard Layout parameter.
Thanks, but I tried that too and it doesn't work. Is there not a txt file or something which I can edit?
I created a virtual keymapping for the difference between the HTC Herald & T-mobile Wing. Maybe this will work for you because it sounds just like the problem we had over in the Herald forum....
So try this :
KEYBOARD FIX for WING / HERALD & ROM hardware keyboard (keybddr.dll) mismatch
Use the Herald keyboard Fix ... because i think the herald & kaiser have the same keyboard layout.

Thanks for the response... But it didn't work either. I appreciate the help though. Any other manual ways to do this?

OK, I got it working thanks to a great member who had already dealt with this so I copied and pasted from the other thread and here's the answer:
4) The Rogers ROM changes the hardware keyboard layout. The layout is the same as used by the AT&T Tilt and so some of the keys behave differently (for example pressing @ brings up a ! and visa-versa). To fix this problem I needed to delete the registry key HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD>CWSLayout

Hi,
I've recently bought an HTC TyTN II and am having problems with the keyboard. The "alt" keys are not how they are mapped on the keyboard, and I can't get a comma.
I've tried the above methods apart from the Rogers ROM, the link supplied isn't active any longer and googling the rom there are loads to choose from.
Can anybody help me?
Cheers,
Craig

try to install Tilt keyboard fix

Anyone know how to switch the keyboard configuration? This is very much the same problem as many TyTN users experienced when installing an operator ROM: my keyboard has symbols in the wrong place (e.g. ! and @ are reversed - I have an @ over the Q and a ! over the W).
The instructions posted in the Hermes wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Problems) and in various threads (like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283881) don't work, as the registry key ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]) doesn't exist. Maybe this is because it was written to help Cingular 8525 customers install HTC ROMs, which is the opposite thing I want to do. In fact I can't find the string "qwerty" in the registry at all. Creating the OEM\Qwerty key and populating the suggested value doesn't work.
Anyway if someone knows how to get the HTC symbol mapping back please let me know. Alternatively if anyone has the release version of the HTC Kaiser ROM, that would probably do the trick for me too.

I assume you've already tried this ROM?
Here is the cab fix for the 8525 keyboard being messed up. I'm attaching it below.. but I don't know if it just uses the same registry fix.
If the above Image isn't the latest release for the kaiser I wouldn't worry too much as people are starting to get the HTC RTM kaiser right now and I'm sure the official rom will be posted soon.
I've tried 'em all. Because they're AT&T ROMs they all have the AT&T Mappping. Why do carriers have to change the mappings of their keyboards at all?
thanks anyway.
I'm sure you've already found this solution...but was trying to find it myself and had to deduce it from reading how the forum people were able to do the reverse (assign AT&T layout to non-AT&T ROM).
Try this:
delete the registry key HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/CWSLayout
Note that this works for correcting the keyboard layout problem when flashing a Rogers ROM on the HTC-branded kaiser

I think you ment THIS post
Still Nada here for this guy.
Tried,
Keyboard Fix WMXL 8525.cab
WM VI 8525 Keyboard Patch.CAB
Ive looked in my registry for the CWSLayout
Tried the reg edit for the qwerty key and the suggested edits were the values I already have.
Nada...
Ive got a Rogers Tytn that Ive upgraded using a ATT 8525rom
everything works great, other than the 8 symbol keys.
Any more suggestions?

UPDATE:
Solution found - see post #6 !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have searched this forum now for over an hour but couldn't find a solution yet!
I do not have the TILT! I have the original Tytn II.
After flashing my US ENGLISH Tytn II with the official GERMAN WM6.1 ROM, I encountered the QWERTY <-> QWERTZ problem.
I thought it would be as easy as on the HERMES by just changing a REGISTRY entry from 407 to 409 but it seems it is a bit harder than that! Can anyone help me out or point me to the right thread? I really would appreciate that!
Yup I believe this is covered in the Kaiser FAQ Wiki. Link In My Sig.
There are two issues. If you have a Tilt and Flash a TytnII based ROM your keyboard gets messed up. Vice Versa as well.
Nope,
it is not covered in the WIKI!
As I said: I do not have the tilt and I am not using a Tilt ROM either! The Tilt keyboard fix is just not working in this case.
I must have been mistaken. My apologizes.
Well, if I add in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\KEYBD] the "CWSLayout"=dword:1" value, I at least get "z" / "y" reverted (which is a good thing) but my symbols are still messed up.
This Solution Final Worked
After 2 days studdying all the posts dealing with keyboard issues, I now have found a simple registry solution which worked just fine.
THIS IS NOT A TILT KEYBOARD FIX SOLUTION but a workaround for people having an original TYTN II with QWERTY hw keyboard and ROM in a differnet language. Below sample is for a German ROM flashed into a US original KAIS130:
There are few registry entries you have to change.
First set:
[HKCU\MUI]
CurLang = 1033 (or HEX 0x409) - IMPORTANT, set this first!!!
Then go to
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts]
and - to be on the save side - go through all SUB KEYS and set all "00000407" values to "00000409" (Do not rename the keys themself!)
there is still one SUBKEY which has your language written as a string:
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\00000407]
"Layout Text" = "German"
Change the above entry to "US", soft reset your device - done!
- - -
Just keep in mind: above sample is for a German ROM (407) - if you flashed a different language to an english device, then the "407" will be something corresponding to your language.
I have tried the above solution on several WM6.1 REFLASHs and it worked every time!
hi everyone! i ve installed a shifu rom. version 17. when the rom became operational....2 softreset makes...the configuration of the keyboard it lost. now i try to tape a @ and type another thing...any body knows the answer to correct that thing....??? thanks! in advance! sorry for my poor english!
Somewhere you can find a .cab named "tilt keyboard fix" (for example at page 1 in TPC's V11 thread): it will map your tilt keyboard.
HTC Kaiser and AT&T Tilt have some differences in keyboard layout
Just search the Kaiser section for tilt keyboard fix.
This might help you

I Just installed Energy.RHODIUM.21892.SENSE2.5_with_MaxManila.feb26
I love the ROM it has everything that i was looking for the only thing that i would like to upgrade if possible is the key board. The Function key no longer works and the number keys are assigned across the top of the keyboard instead of the symbols. Is there a cab file or anything that i can install to return the keyboard to stock specs? Thanks
you should search the energyrom thread first before posting a new topic. i'm guessing you need the ATT keyboard cab.

Hi @ all,
i want to share my experience with the mini bluetooth keyboard PX-2563 from Generalkeys (ordered at www.pearl.de) and my hd2 running WinMo 6.5 orig. Vodafone german ROM 3.14. First of all i have to say this keyboard is low-priced and in my opinion this is good It makes a cheap impression and i will see how long it will run. The keys are made of soft rubber, but you have to press it relative hard. So for the first time i am not faster than with the on-screen keyboard.
The keyboard is delivered with a driver-cd. Don´t touch it if you want to use it with your hd2! There is an old version of blueinput on it but this is useless for me.
My solution to get it running and have the german layout:
1. Install Fingerkeyboard 2.1 from this great forum and only activate ger as language in the options.
2. Install AEKMAP 1.3 (it´s free, you don´t need to activate it)
3. Use the .aek-file with the correct layout (attached to this post)
4. pair the keyboard with your HD2
5. have fun
So you will have in round about 20 min. this keyboard running with a nearly perfect german keyboard layout
Infos about my attached keyboard-layout:
This is my first version for this keyboard. Most keys/characters are working. The ALT-Key is NOT working. Use CTRL instead of ALT! (CTRL+q for @, CTRL+e for €, CTRL+m for \). Umlauts and special characters are also working.

Thanks a lot for this post! I received my Pearl keyboard today and was very unhappy with the delivered software and the keyboard layout! I am using it right now with a HTC HD2 and the suggested software...
Unfortunatly the "€" is not mapped as it is not mentioned in the .AEK file. I'll try to get a clue how this mapping file works and maybe the ALT key will work some day
Best regards, CN

OOOPS! My fault. Now the attached aek-file in the first post has the €-sign and you can use it via CTRL+e. please download it again.

Hi,
I know this is an old thread but i'm actually running into the same problem with a French-layout Logitech Dinovo which, when paired with both my HD2 or HD Mini running WinMo 6.5, is recognized as English (qwerty).
I'd be curious to know how to proceed:
1/ choose fingerkeyboard as phone keyboard (?)
1'/ make sure AEK has the right layout selected
2/ pair with external keyboard
The only problem would be: i don't have the french layout compliant with the Dinovo (and support seem unable to help me with this matter). How could i make one ? Does that need special skills or a special software ?
Many thanks in advance...
