Need help with Energy Rom Please - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

I Just installed Energy.RHODIUM.21892.SENSE2.5_with_MaxManila.feb26
I love the ROM it has everything that i was looking for the only thing that i would like to upgrade if possible is the key board. The Function key no longer works and the number keys are assigned across the top of the keyboard instead of the symbols. Is there a cab file or anything that i can install to return the keyboard to stock specs? Thanks

you should search the energyrom thread first before posting a new topic. i'm guessing you need the ATT keyboard cab.

Keyboard config for AT&T ROM on HTC-branded Kaiser

Anyone know how to switch the keyboard configuration? This is very much the same problem as many TyTN users experienced when installing an operator ROM: my keyboard has symbols in the wrong place (e.g. ! and @ are reversed - I have an @ over the Q and a ! over the W).
The instructions posted in the Hermes wiki (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Problems) and in various threads (like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283881) don't work, as the registry key ([HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]) doesn't exist. Maybe this is because it was written to help Cingular 8525 customers install HTC ROMs, which is the opposite thing I want to do. In fact I can't find the string "qwerty" in the registry at all. Creating the OEM\Qwerty key and populating the suggested value doesn't work.
Anyway if someone knows how to get the HTC symbol mapping back please let me know. Alternatively if anyone has the release version of the HTC Kaiser ROM, that would probably do the trick for me too.

I assume you've already tried this ROM?
Here is the cab fix for the 8525 keyboard being messed up. I'm attaching it below.. but I don't know if it just uses the same registry fix.
If the above Image isn't the latest release for the kaiser I wouldn't worry too much as people are starting to get the HTC RTM kaiser right now and I'm sure the official rom will be posted soon.
I've tried 'em all. Because they're AT&T ROMs they all have the AT&T Mappping. Why do carriers have to change the mappings of their keyboards at all?
thanks anyway.
I'm sure you've already found this solution...but was trying to find it myself and had to deduce it from reading how the forum people were able to do the reverse (assign AT&T layout to non-AT&T ROM).
Try this:
delete the registry key HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/CWSLayout
Note that this works for correcting the keyboard layout problem when flashing a Rogers ROM on the HTC-branded kaiser

Still Nada here for this guy.
Tried,
Keyboard Fix WMXL 8525.cab
WM VI 8525 Keyboard Patch.CAB
Ive looked in my registry for the CWSLayout
Tried the reg edit for the qwerty key and the suggested edits were the values I already have.
Nada...
Ive got a Rogers Tytn that Ive upgraded using a ATT 8525rom
everything works great, other than the 8 symbol keys.
Any more suggestions?

Remap keys on Tytn II / Kaiser

I just flashed my Tytn II with a new rom and some of my keys are now wrong i.e. press fn Q and get ! instead of @. I've searched and cannot find a fix for this. I tried putting on Alex's keyboard fix and it didn't work. Does anyone know where I can find the file that has to be edited to the right characters or a cab that will do it for me. Sorry if this has been asked before but I've been searching for 2 hours and can't find anything. Thanks
Use Schap's Advanced Configuration Tool to change Keyboard Layout parameter.
Thanks, but I tried that too and it doesn't work. Is there not a txt file or something which I can edit?
I created a virtual keymapping for the difference between the HTC Herald & T-mobile Wing. Maybe this will work for you because it sounds just like the problem we had over in the Herald forum....
So try this :
KEYBOARD FIX for WING / HERALD & ROM hardware keyboard (keybddr.dll) mismatch
Use the Herald keyboard Fix ... because i think the herald & kaiser have the same keyboard layout.

Thanks for the response... But it didn't work either. I appreciate the help though. Any other manual ways to do this?

OK, I got it working thanks to a great member who had already dealt with this so I copied and pasted from the other thread and here's the answer:
4) The Rogers ROM changes the hardware keyboard layout. The layout is the same as used by the AT&T Tilt and so some of the keys behave differently (for example pressing @ brings up a ! and visa-versa). To fix this problem I needed to delete the registry key HKLM>HARDWARE>DEVICEMAP>KEYBD>CWSLayout

Hi,
I've recently bought an HTC TyTN II and am having problems with the keyboard. The "alt" keys are not how they are mapped on the keyboard, and I can't get a comma.
I've tried the above methods apart from the Rogers ROM, the link supplied isn't active any longer and googling the rom there are loads to choose from.
Can anybody help me?
Cheers,
Craig

try to install Tilt keyboard fix

need help virtual keyboard

I've done a a lot of reading and made good progress, but I'm stuck on this one.
I'm using "Ruu_Signed_Duttys_WM6.1_Official_5.2.19209_1_58_16_27 [FIX]" build atm and while it's fast and I like it for the most part, the keyboard is horrible, takes up half the screen is missing keys and I really don't like it. I've tried to get back the original keyboard but it won't all me to switch from the one he has built into the rom. I've uninstalled the pcm keyboard and installing Keyboard_Cert.reg KeyboardSkins.CAB and also SJ KeybSkin_Touch.cab. in several variations. At best I was able to turn the keyboard white with black letters.
How can i get rid of the pcm keyboard and load the defaults.
please help
p.s. How come many of the dutty roms and have a password and they say the password is in the 1st/2nd post but it's not? I read some of those 6 times and searched them for "pass" and never found the password. I found some people listing a password later in the thread, but it was a password that did not work.
Am I writing in the wrong language or something? I've spent at least 20 hours reading wikii and faq's and post after post and seariching with google and the site's built in search only to wind up going in circles, trying to find specific answers, but not getting anywhere.
Would someone please point me to the info or just tell me ?
Still need help
yea this thread should be answered i have having the same problem..
I have Duttys Diamond V1 ROM. I didn't like the default kayboard or the XT9 that guesses what word your trying to type. My ROM did have the original defult keyboard installed but it would not stay my defult keyboard after a soft reset. I'm not sure exactly what you issue is but this might help.
Install "disable XT9" cab to disable XT9
Install "SIP change" cab change the defult kayboard to the one of you choice.
the above can be found here (look for post 139, should be the 4th post down):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398271&page=161
I'm also including:
the "OEM default Keyboard" cab, with I assume installs the OEM keyboard (if you don't have it), and "Tilt keyboard fix" incase you have a Tilt with a hardware keyboard that dosen't have the FN keys coerectly mapped fot the Tilt.
Hope that's what you looking for.
Thanks worked fine only took about 1 min.

Hardware Keyboard - Keymapping is COMPLETELY off...

I own an AT&T Fuze but since I'm not with AT&T and I'm with T-Mobile, I flashed to the HTC 1.90.405.1 ROM. Now don't get me wrong... With few exceptions, this ROM is actually almost exactly what I was looking for.
My main MAJOR problem is that my hardware keyboard mapping is completely off. I can type text but formatting characters such as "-" and "?" and "_" and the Fn and Caps keys and even numbers (0-9) are not mapped correctly and so I can't figure out how to type properly on this keyboard.
My question: Does a cab file exist that fill fix this so that the keyboard will be mapped correctly?
you need to install the fuze keyboard cab. Search for it.
EDIT: here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2855122

Thank you so much. I'm going to use this until I can get the money together and then I'm just going to change the hardware keyboard keys to the ones from the actual HTC Touch Pro.
Then I will never have to worry about it again.
Thanks again bro.
lol your welcome. I dont know i like having this keyboard layout better than the original touch pro because i noticed that i used the symbols a lot more than i do numbers when i am typing a text or email or notes.

Why don't the function keys work on cooked ROMS?

I just flashed a Cell Evo V7.5 ROM and its amazing however my function keys do not allow me to use my blue number and symbol secondary keys. Caps key works fine.
Anyone know a work around?
the keyboard is not the same on all of the tp2's. enrgy rom has a util that does a customization on the keyboard and gets it working for specific models look for that or find a keyboard map for your model
How do you get keyboard maps?
If you have an AT&T branded Rhodium (Tilt2) you can grab the Tilt2 layout fix here, and if you have the T-Mobile US branded Rhodium, the layout fix is here.
It's amazing how many "new" people can figure out how to start a new thread on a topic that's discussed a million times over but they can't figure out how to search the forum themselves and find the answers...
Search tools are your friend!!!
Even if you cant figure out how to use the search feature that's build into EVERY page on XDA just go into google and search what you are looking for... ie lets say you are with ATT and you want the keyboard fix search "Tilt2 keyboard fix XDA" and odds are you'll find the pages you need.
I did check, but with scrolling through walls of text is very hard on your eyes when you don't exactly know what your looking for, all the topics are long lines of text and numbers.
I don't know how you'd expect me to know to type KEY MAPPING in search if I had no idea what a Key Map is.
