Hi.
After hours of searching and reading here and endless talks with my mobileoperator without any luck, I turn to this fantastic community for your help.
My mobileoperator offers a "newspackage" which includes access to livestreaming of some of their tv programs. These are supposed to be viewed in Streaming Media, but I can't get it to work. I get a "Network cannot be found" error. It works on my Hermes, so I'm wondering if this is due to the lack of videodriver or if it's something else TyTNII related? All I can find here when searching is solutions to YouTube viewing problems.
Does anyone have any ideas or something I can try?
I'm using an original HTC WM 6.0 ROM (5.2.1620 18125.0.4.2) DK-version, but I don't mind to have a WWE version of Streaming Media, if that's gonna fix my problem.
Thank you in advance.
Firstly, make certain the streams you talk about are rtsp:// 3gp streams, because streaming media player is just the Real Player re-packaged.
Second, you must set the connection settings to use the same network you connect PIE with. For AT&T customers that is medianet. If that fails, let me know, I have a link to a working SP with some h.264 modificatios that has always worked for me.

Thanks for your reply
It is RTSP streams and I use the same connection as PIE. Still no luck.. I've even tried to edit the registry so that it is like the settings on my Hermes.
Strangely enough it worked on my Hermes when I used a ripped Dopod 838 streaming player. But I can't find a similar rip for the Kaiser.

Hi,
Thank you so much, but it doesn't make any difference... Do you know, if it would be possible to make TCPMP or another application work with rtsp:/ streaming?

Since my car stereo is not working right now, and my favorite radio station streams over the internet, I was wondering if there is a way to listen to it using my Tilt.
I tried browsing to the website using my phone, and once I click the "Listen Live" link, I get a connection error. Any insight appreciated.
Radio Station: 93.3 WMMR
http://www.wmmr.com
Listen Live link:
http://gmppodcast.com/stream/WMMR
download gsplayer or tcpmp player. I listen to shoutcast on both of these.
I'm trying to listen to WHTZ-NY Z100...
http://www.z100.com/cc-common/streaming_onesite/index.html?refreshed=yes
They used to have an embedded link, but I think it's been changed to some dynamic link or password. Can anyone figure this out? It's a WMA stream, too.

I already had TCPMP installed, and I just tried gsplayer. Neither works unfortunately.
Can someone that has either of these programs working on this Kaiser try to connect to the stream I listed above?
Try going to the settings in TCPMP and checking the unchecked boxes in the file associations tab that pertain to what type of media you are trying to access or stream in your case...
Have you tried www.thestreamcenter.com/pda ?
Click on PA, then scroll to 93.3 WMMR
It worked for me using WMP.
I am able to stream a NJ station, WFMU through TCPMP, but I haven't had any luck with either of the other two stations mentioned in this thread. If you want to test out your player's streaming capability try http://mp3stream.wfmu.org
It appears that the links for both of the other stations mentioned in this thread load a player that in turn accesses the stream. If you can get the actual stream's URL I'm thinking it will load fine. Those URL's wont stream in WMP 11 on my PC either.
One thing I did notice about TCPMP is that it didn't initiate the internet link, I had to connect using IE and then start the stream. I was accessing via EDGE, don't know if you would need that step with WiFi or not.
Your sig says att. Did you uncheck the proxy in the connection setting manager and try it?
Winamp Remote works really well on my Tilt. It's not radio, but you can stream your music (and videos, though I haven't tried any yet) from your home computer right into Windows Media Player.
did you download the .dlls that tcpmp needs for this type of stuff and copy them to your windows directory?

To those that still have this problem, try installing flash Player 7 to your device (fp7_ppc_en) you can google it. Don't install it to your storage card. I tried and it am getting some sound and not the message to download flash player. I had already had flash player downloaded to the storage card.
Hope this helps.

I was able to find the stream on this site. After I click the link, WMP opens and starts to buffer, but then comes up with Failed.
Do I need to modify proxy settings in order for the stream to work from this site? And if so, will that affect any other web browsing? I do not use MEdia Net, so I'm not worried if it affects that.

I am having a similar problem. I installed Opera. when i go to YouTube using IE dont have a problem watching video TCPMP launchs and everything is great... but when i go to youtube using Opera i am rerouted to myoutube.com, when i click on the video, Streaming Media launchs and it just hangs there. Is there a reason why it doesnt work with opera. Thanks, and again sorry because i am pretty new at this. I am also running Dutty's WM6.1 and i have assossiated TCPMP with the 3gp files. any idea why Streaming Media is still launching. I have installed the files above and am still having the same problem.
thanks
Problem in streaming media on you tube
hi every1. can any1 sort out my problem. actualy i have streaming media software in my XDA and it was working alrite but after installing real player it stopped working with youtube.com. i have even uninstalled real player and deleted its aplication backup but still having problem. when i click any video on youtube.com it doesnt respond a bit. i will wait for any expert response. thanx
Youtube = TCPMP + FlashVideoBundle
Mobile Youtube = Streaming Media (Which is Real Player with HTC's wrapper)
For Mobile Youtube via HTCSMP you need to change your connection settings in the app. to MediaNet for AT&T or whatever you browse the net with.
Thanks GSLEON3,
However here is where i stand. If i go to Youtube.com everything is fine. however when i got to m,youtube.com and go to launch a clip. all that happens is that streaming Media Launches and hangs. This happens wheather i am connect via wifi or 3G.
If i go to Streaming Media ->menu->options->network
No matter how many times i change it to media net, everytime i go back, it says "The Internet"
Under Settings->Connections->Manage existing connections->Proxy Settings
The Box that says "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" is NOT checked.
Under Settings->Connections->advanced->Select Network, both say Media Net
Under Settings->HSDPA, The Turn on HSDPA box is NOT checked.(not really sure what that is for)
I have no idea why i cant get the m.youtube.com vids to play ... any idea ?
Thanks

from what Ive read, youtube videos wont play with Opera Mini because that browser doesn't support flash videos as yet.
its is not opera mini, its mobile, and the problem also happens in IE. Flash is installed and works well
I think what i need is a copy of Streaming Media 3, I think reinstalling it will fix my problem. However i need something other that the IMAX 5?
m.youtube.com will not work with Dutty's WM6.1 rom
Hello,
I agree with my fellow posters, their is a huge difference between the full youtube website and the mobile youtube website. I think something is wrong with the HTC streaming player in the Dutty's WM6.1. Rom.
After clicking the thumbnail i get the message, you are about to go online. And then it starts "Streaming Media" with an endless "Connecting" message.
Had someone any luck with Dutty's rom to get m.youtube.com running?
Regards Tom

same problem here. I'm using Streaming Media 3.00 (build 1001.711). Still looking for a solution.
Hey,
I just managed to solve my problem. I downloaded the HTC Streaming Media CAB file and installed it, overwriting the installation with the Dutty 6.1 rom. Now it works perfectly fine for me.

You might want to follow my articles, they're cross-posted to the General forum so you don't even need to go to another forum / page. In some of them, I've pretty thoroghly explained why this happens: the RTSP protocol doesn't work in a firewalled environment.
Solution: go for a non-RTSP-based solution like CorePlayer, the TCPMP-based plug-in and other playback solutions etc.
Read my YouTube Bible for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=387986

Note that, if you are firewalled, it won't work, regardless of the ROM versuion.
Hello!
I have this problem: how to listen .m3u (mp3 / aac) / .asx / listen.pls / .rm / etc
type of online internet radio station streams using HTC Tytn II (kaiser) ?
I have tried Pocket Player and WinVibe, but they didn't work start listening the stream
One stream I'd like to hear is http://radio.cbs.nu/cbs96.m3u
Getting netradio to work would make this excellent device even more better! So can someone pls help me with this matter!!
Thanks in Advance,
Petri Lyytinen
Do you have Real Player installed? I think it covers some of the formats you mentioned. I can't tell you for sure as iv'e sent of my Kaiser to get the screen fixed.
Pocket RealOne is required to play .rm files unless there's another player i'm not aware of that plays Real Audio. While I don't stream anything except .asf (.wmwebasf) files, I would assume that Windows Media Player would play mp3 streams as well as the asx streams. You could try TCPMP for the asx and mp3 streams as well.

I installed RealPlayer, but it didn't help me, since I want that CBS (.m3u) stream to work.. I didn't find any interesting netradios working with rtsp protocol
*sigh*
edit:
Dang, I'm stupid.. I got the CBS netradio work when I saved the .m3u as text file, opened it and copy-pasted the given URL inside it ( http://radio.cbs.nu:80/cbs96 ) .. Yey!
I'm using now Pocket Player by Conduits
Now, is there any suggestions which is best stream player (less CPU consuming and bugs, and faster?)

looked around and didnt see a post here in the g1 forum but it is possible to stream movies from your computer to your G1. just go to www.orb.com and your set. best of all its FREE!
can you be a little be more specific, it will be helpfull if you explein a little a couple of steps for this and how can you watch it on the g1.
note: I'm not trying to be ungreatfull
I just try it and is GOOD (running it, on my wifi) a little slow when watching a video but defenitly watchable, I think if they develope a software for the android like the one for Iphone this will be a killer application.
In order to use it you just have to download the software from the site and create an account, share your media files videos, mp3s, pics, documents and even your computer webcam. allow it in your firewall. Then just log in from your g1 browser, and you are good to go and enjoying all your files in your g1.
I used to use this all the time with my Wing and Tilt. Unfortunately, the video has issues. It doesn't work on the G1 through 3G as of yet. Rumors have it that Orb is in the process of developing an app... but that was spread around back in November. Who knows what happened with it since.
Be also interesting to see devices as PMP's with video out capabilities... something like vPOD's
I am able to get the video started over 3G but the video player keeps telling me "Sorry this video can not be played". I still hear the audio but the video always freezes on the first frame. Has anyone else tried this and got it to work?

Same problem I've had. I have been able to get a couple videos to play correctly, but I have not been able to figure out why they played and nothing else would. Oddly enough, even the ones that would play once would not play a second time.
you can do this with "gmote" also it much easyer
Androrb was just released. Check it out.
Has anyone been able to stream to the G1 using VLC?
I have tried using the same settings as the ones from the G1 video encoding thread (and lower), but it just won't play.
(I know the OP posted about Orb, but with such a generic thread title, this shouldn't count as off topic or thread stealing...)
I do want a DLNA / UPnP app for Android. I can get Tveristy working for streaming music, but it won't stream & transcode video.

I've gotten this to work in VLC in my LAN but not from outside yet. It took me forever to get this far, and I kinda just chalked it up as progress, and haven't done much with it since. Use the rtsp address in NSW or Meridian or whatever on your phone.
need to set h264 to 1,2 baseline and audio to aac in advanced settings first
Code:
:sout=#transcode{soverlay,ab=42,samplerate=44100,channels=1,acodec=mp4a,vcodec=h264,width=320,height=180,vfilter="canvas{width=320,height=180,aspect=16:9}",fps=25,vb=200,venc=x264{vbv-bufsize=500,partitions=all,level=12,no-cabac,subme=7,threads=4,ref=2,mixed-refs=1,bframes=0,min-keyint=1,keyint=50,trellis=2,direct=auto,qcomp=0.0,qpmax=51}}:gather:rtp{mp4a-latm,sdp=rtsp://0.0.0.0:5554/stream.sdp}
In your Android video player:
Code:
rtsp://local.server.address:5554/stream.sdp
Is T-Mobile blocking ports? I just tried that method in VLC and it works great with WiFi on, but with 3G I can't get anything.
Hello the program "mobile Streaming" is preset with the rtsp://
I tried this one to stream rtsp://mobilstream.antenne.de/antenne.sdp and it fails allways to connect.
I thought the rstp is a real player thing. SO what exactly is the application mobile streaming try to do ? Anybody knows more about it ? IS this a real player aplication, and if so why not working if not why is it preset with rstp.
Thanks
I'm no geek but I think it may be all about the file being streamed.
I have had no problems with CorePlayer, HTC own Streaming Media and VLC.
One thing that I have been doing is emailing the stream info to my mobile from my PC and saving .pls files to the mobile.
The only thing I do with realplayer is to get live bbc london radio from the .ram, hope the above helps.
Your rtsp link just don't work. It's either firewall or a router problem, but not of the player.
What does the player do ?
Well it supports rtsp protocol to read H264/AAC (and maybe other) files.
Please note this has NOTHING to do with a real application.
These protocol and codecs are fully standarized, and are the most commonly used ones. (I'd say it's the only proper way to stream actually.)
