Hey guys, I thought I'd share with you all 2 new toys for our Kaisers/Tilts.
BrightLock is a small utility that gets installed in to your startup folder. It will stop the Tilt/Kaiser from dimming the display every time it is locked. It replaces the needed for a script to hack the registry each time.
Touch Control gives you an easy way to tweak your touch screen sensitivity without having to dig through other tweak tools.
Both are available on my RapidShare folder:
http://rapidshare.com/users/C7VW57
I'll put them up as packages for Chefs when I get a chance.
isnt the touch control already there when you have touch flo or if you have any kind of cube installed already...?
I don't know, I don't install either with my roms.
Thank you for both of those, I don't use the cube either. These will help man.
I don't use touch but BrightLock fixes the last (non-driver or lack of driver ) issue I have with the Tilt.
Thanks
TouchControl isn't related to the HTC Touch or cube. It's just for adjusting the sensitivity on the actual touchscreen. Same as recalibrating only you look at it as a slider.
brightview seems utility..touchcontrol seems bloatware
brightview seems utility..touchcontrol seems bloatware
thanks tho for the apps
BrightLock is a great idea, BUT it changes the backlight setting to 10 seconds on my TyTN II, an unacceptably short amount of time. Maybe there's a simple fix for this issue??
-Bob-
doesn't kaisertweak already give that change for touch sensitivity?
Can anyone give me the registry entry to try the backlight fix, since the BrightLock app won't work for me. I'm wondering if a manual edit causes the backlight setting to change to 10 seconds too.
EDIT: Found it!
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
There REG_DWORD Key called LockLevel can be set between 0-10 (0=0%, 10=100% locklevel backlight brightness)
EDIT 2: It looks like editing the LockLevel has the same result as BrightLock, the backlight turns off after 10 seconds. I'm way too dimwitted to be able to function with only 10 seconds of backlight, so I guess there's really no fix for me.
Thanks.
-Bob-
TouchControl Requirements
I installed TouchControl on my Tilt and it is requesting a newer version of .NET. What version does this program require?
I am using the latest official ROM version from HTC.

Rebecker, that's really odd. All I'm doing is forcing LockLevel to 10 at boot then dumping from memory. It's a quick fix to save the user from having to setup scripting/etc.
LockLevel should ONLY affect the brightness when locked.
I tried "Bright Lock" and it changes the locklevel key to 10 (full brightness) at power On, but has the side effect of changing the key "Battery Timeout" to 7 (seconds) which dims the display in 7 seconds when the phone is unlocked as well as locked.
Haven't found a way to get a bright screen at power-up to see the screen to unlock it (with a short timer like 7 seconds), then revert to the backlight timer setting (like 30 seconds or more) once unlocked!
There is another thread dealing with short backlight issues and it seems that LockLevel and BatteryTimeout are linked somehow???
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=351709
What do you think the BatteryTimeoutTemp key does?
EDIT
In any case, if you REMOVE Bright Lock, then re-name the DeviceLock key like the referenced thread describes and soft reset, BINGO, the Backlight comes on bright for about 7 seconds when locked AND it stays On for the duration of the settings>backlight timer when un-locked!

I have tried searching for the answer to this so please do not ridicule me if i missed it!
Is there a way of stopping the screen from being so dim when i press the power button to wake up device if it is locked.
I always lock the device when i am not using it and will quite often press the power button quickly to turn off the display. When i come to use the phone etc i press the power button to get the screen back then press unlock at the bottom of the screen then the unlock half way up the screen, phone unlocked. BUT when the power button is pressed to turn the screen on and the phone is still locked the screen is so dim i cannot see it in bright daylight. Is there a way of making the screen brighter so i can unlock it?
David
simple answer YES!
The registry key here controls the backlight lock level:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
There REG_DWORD Key called LockLevel can be set between 0-10 (0=0%, 10=100% locklevel backlight brightness)
The system defaults this setting to 0, hence the dim lock display.
I have found however that the value does not stick after a soft reset/reboot, and goes back to default, so i have set a startup .lnk file that runs a reg script to set this value silently on boot for me.... you can do this yourself using the latest taskmanager 2.9 from here: http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm (/silent command line parameter was only added in v2.9 so i can run a reg script without the prompts!)
I like to have a bright pin/unlock screen as i like to use the screen as a torch/light by just pressing the power button!!
Enjoy.
Thanks!!
Thanks for the answer to that. I too have been having the same problem, and it has bugged the hell out of me, especially on those bright summer days .
Thanks heaps for that!!!
Sorry for the delay, but many thanks for the answer! Damned annoying that was.
Regards
David
How do i make this .lnk file? What should it say? Where do i put it? etc etc. Sorry for the question but not done any of this before. The reg edit was easy enough but now i am lost.
Cheers

I also would like to do this, but havent figured out how to create a command line with TaskMgr that will execute at startup - would you share how it is done?
Also, when I set locklevel to any number other than 1, no dimming occurs when I lock my Tilt. I experimented because I thought I'd like a little dimming but not as much as the default - but it seems like it's all or nothing.
I hate the way the Kaiser and/or WM6 insists on spoonfeeding some settings to us, no matter how much we would like to permanently alter them!

BUMP - Anyone know how and what to do to make this .lnk file and then how to use it?
David
strange thing. When I adjust this value it messes with my backlight timeout. I normally have this set to 30secs, i.e. the screen goes dimmer after 30 secs. When I adjust the lockout value as described it goes dim after 5-10 seconds. am I doing this right? I wasn't sure if I had adjusted the value correctly.

I have searched all over can someone tell me how to get the \silent to work I have taskmanager v2.9 spent the last 2 hours trying to get this to work please give a bother some help
I think the answer is here...well, not an answer but at least an app that claims to do what you're looking for.
This answer may be too basic, but have you tried changing the registry edit and then NOT doing a soft reset, but instead doing a full power off/on? Some registry entries WON'T stick with a soft-reset, but will with a power cycle. The power cycle gives the OS a heads up that it's being turned off and writes things more permanently...

I always power cycle after a reg change (It forces a registry write and a SR doesn't) but it doesn't matter...this reg change doesn't stick after a power cycle for some reason.
EDIT:
BTW, I loaded BrightLock and it works perfectly.
Excellent seems to do what i needed!!! Cheers

I am experiencing a similar issue. My normal backlight on battery power is set to 1 minute, but after installing brightlock, it keeps changing to 10 seconds. I really like what brightlock does for me, but not at the cost of dimming the screen when I am trying to read something. Is there a configuration I am missing?
I think I got rid of this annoying “dim” problem without .lnk file and scripting.
See my next post.
Is there a way of stopping the screen from being so dim when i press the power button
I think I got rid of this annoying “dim” problem without .lnk file and scripting.
What I did is the following:
1. Downloaded and installed Taskmanager 2.9 from: http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm
2. Opened Taskmanager and went to Regedit
3. Deleted LockLevel folder from HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\LockLevel
4. Saved
5. Rebooted the phone.
After rebooting, system recreates LockLevel folder, however, “dim” problem is gone.
Unit still dims the screen, but pressing any key triggers the bright display.
Suggestion: Export registry and backup your device before playing with Regedit.
can some one please re-post brightlock? mediafire link seems to be done and this is doing me nutter
On my Tilt I usually dial via touchscreen using smart dialing on the standard keypad. I've disabled vibrating feedback for keypad presses but it's still abysmally slow and drops keypresses. Any advice?
Try disabling screen tap sound in settings. Check out kaisertweak and it's wiki if you are noting keyboard unresponsiveness in general.

ooo.i have the same problem (i guess). But i have screen taps sounds disabled. i'm a complete newbie with pocket pc, And what exactly to do?
I have already disabled the tap sounds. I have Kaisertweak. Do you have anything in particular you could point out in the wiki for me?
Does your touchscreen work well in other programs? There is a known issue with this.
There are several settings in Kaisertweak listed under TouchFLO for sensitivity/finger pressure/sound and I believe nikagl has recently updated the xml adding extremely high settings for some of these. I think the .exe has also been updated.
Some users have turned off scrolling (TouchFLO/scroller) also in KaiserTweak to get the screen to respond a bit faster - that's a bummer if you like scrolling tho...
Make sure you soft reset after changing these values.
Cheers-
Touch works fine everywhere else. I've disabled TouchFlo and will see if that helps.
I've also read here that you can increase the screen sensitivity threshold, as explained above as follows: With Registry Editor (Resco), go to HKLM/drivers/touchscreen sensitivity something, increase the rate.
The new Mobile Shell 2.0 has its own sort of dialer that works perfectly without lag so it's obviously just bad coding for the standard dialer.
Having used the Shell lookup some more I've decided it's nice but it can't really replace the default dialer because the phone function is central to that screen. Does anyone know of a nice super-crisp dialer that also has smart dial?
Hi guys,
Sorry if this has been posted already but I can't seem to find it through search.
Is there a tweak where the backlight can come on when your trying to unlock the phone, it's a tad dark and if the light is bad it's impossible.
Cheers
Mark
Look at Diamond tweaks or config programs, from memory one of them allows you to set the backlight to full on when unlocking
had the same problem. the solution is simple
uncheck at backlight settings: dim the backlight if the device is locked
the backight will come on on lowlevel when you activatethe phone. you know you have to press the unlock in leftbottom corner. when pressed the light comes on full to press the second unlock in the middleof the screen.
regards W
I think they are referring to password locked. The screen starts dim and stays that way till unlocked. In bright sunlight you cannot see the numbers to enter the unlock code to unlock the device
I've found the Backlight Lockout setting in one of the config tools, it works perfectly until I soft reset. Any ideas how to get it to stay put?
In registry:
HKCU\ControlPanel\BackLight
DimBKLinUnlockScreen set to 0
Or use the cab i created.
THANK YOU!!! Adding this value to reg was exactly what the Dr ordered!! Much much appreciated Surf!
bookmarked and b back l8er,i need more info,
I really enjoy this forum since it helps me a lot to increase the productivity with my HTC Touch Pro. I found many useful applications. Unfortunately, after installing a large number of them, I run into the infamous 32 processes limit of Windows Mobile. So I decided to write my own app that combines all the features that I find useful. It is implemented as a Pocket PC service, so it does not require an own process.
Here are the features:
- Better vibration for incoming calls. I found the built-in vibration function very annoying as it vibrates permanently during an incoming call. This extensions vibrates in pulses of 300 ms with a pause of one second when a call is incoming
- SIP changer depending on stylus state. If stylus is out, another soft input panel is selected as if stylus is in. Can be changed via the registry keys StylusInSIP and StylusOutSIP.
- Stroke Launcher. If the finger is stroked from one button to another, an application is launched.Four directions are possible: From home button to accept phone call button and vice versa as well as from back button to reject phone call button and vice versa. The applications can be configured via the RightUpApp, RightDownApp, LeftUpApp and LeftDownApp registry keys. The required length of the stroke can be configured via the GestureMinLen registry key. Unfortunately, the program has to poll HTC's NAV sensor directly in order to not disturb the functionality of the wheel sensor. The sleep time between two polls can be configured with the GesturePollingDelay (in ms). If you use very fast strokes and the device does not react, try to decrease this value.
- Key lock if device is face down. The key lock is activated and the device is powered off if it is turned face down. The key locked is acknowledged by two short vibrations. Key lock can be disabled depending on the foreground window or active process list. Exclude list can be specified via the ExcludedProcesses and ExcludedWindows registry keys. The tolerance for the face down detection can be configured via the FacedownTolerance registry key.
The registry settings for Buttler are stored in HKLM\Software\Butler. Each extension described above can be switched of by setting the EnableFeature registry key to 0.
As I have not much time to react on bugs or feature requests, I have also attached the source code. Fell free to modify my Butler but please publish it here so that we all can benefit from it.
The Butler service is started with the program "StartButler.exe" located in the Windows directory. I call it from a MortScript during device boot. It is important that HTC Touch Flo 3D is already loaded. For some reason, the gsensors can not be initialized if Touch Flo 3D is not loaded. Here is the code I use:
# Wait for TouchFlo3D
While(ProcExists("manila.exe")=0)
Sleep(1000)
EndWhile
# Start the butler
Run("\Windows\StartButler.exe")
Have fun!
Siggie
Change log:
V1.0:
- Initial release
V1.1:
- Reading of the NAV sensor completely rewritten. The sensor is now directly polled. This does not interfere with other programs, so the wheel sensor and the camera is working again.
- EnableFeature registry keys added for switching off each extension individually.

sounds like an excellent program, I'll try it
man, great app. it is totally replacing hbutton, and lets me start using voice commander again. two questions....can you list the other sip layout entries? i really want to use the full qwerty when the stylus is out and in. secondly, is there a way to define a diff lock such as s2u2 and then shut down. either way, the function is fine as is and really, thanks for sharing
I'm interest in Stroke Launcher more than the other apps. is there a chance you can provide a cab for just that portion of your application> I know it's contrary to your original intent (of combining apps) but that's the only one of those apps I really would want so I have the opposite- no desire to install any extra apps even if it's a single process Thanks.
about to give it a shot, sounds great
but i second the request to have s2u2 when put face down
noticed that if you delete the entries for sip, keeping the actual keys though. butler wont start. guess it still needs to check those values i was trying to get it to do nothing to my sip's and just keep full qwerty.
edit** here is the key for full qwerty {36BC8FF6-8241-4c36-ABDE-204885471FEE} and the other keys are all listed under HKCR/CLSID and look like this:
(HTC SIPs)
{198D503A-...} = Phone Keypad
{36BC8FF6-...} = Full QWERTY
{62B00599-...} = Compact QWERTY
(MS Default SIPs)
{42429667-...} = Keyboard
{42429690-...} = Letter Recognizer
{42429691-...} = Block Recognizer
{F0034DD0-...} = Transcriber
Maybe it would be easier to be able to just input the name
Sound great, I'll give it a try as well.
can you make it so that when it face down, the light turn off?
ok i figured out how to change what sip came when
and i turned off "facedown"
only problem is that the smart scroll such as zooming in opera and pics no longer works or autofocus in camera
Great app cannot go unrecognized!
so i downloaded and installed and forgot to make shortcut. A day after i just luanch it using fileexplorer with copy on storage card. Sounds like alot but considering i only reset once a week maybe... its not so bad.
After using it for a half day. I have to admit i was waiting for a way to use shortcuts with out using manilla. I am a RLtoday fan and i dont really use all of manilla features. I LOVE IT. I am considering removing Manilla all together. This has great potential for those of use that want alternatives to manilla.
This should really be placed in essentials.
Thank you.
**BTW cant get screen lock disabled, anyone have more detailed instructions for disabling face down lock?
to disable the lock i set the sensor threshold to 0
in the registry path that was said earlier in the thread
V1.1 available
I have added a new version that fixes the wheel sensor and camera problem. There are also now registry keys available to switch off each feature individually.
ok I dont know what happend but i installed this app and after a restart the keyboard pops up on the splash screen and the phone freezes.. I need a resolution fast. I really dotn want to hard reset. I have a lot of stuff i need back up.... Please help!!!
fuk it. had to hard reset.
any chance on just releasing stroke launcher as a standalone app so we don't need to install all and then disable them? Thanks
Exclude S2U2
How can I disable stroke launcher, when s2u2 is active? I tried to add S2U2(name of DWORD value=0) to ExcludedWindows and s2u2.exe to ExcludedProcesses, but stroke launcher is still active, any ideas?
Great App siggie1970,
Thanks .. I Think The most important thing to do now is to add a User Interface for the configuration..as it kinda hard to do it through the registry
thanks
Wow amazing programs are being released and 09 just started. Great name btw How are resources being used with this program? Since your combining apps perhaps you could work with the guy to incorporate his new alternative to gyrator/ screen tilt app.

that is not the purpose of the program
would it be possible to turn one of the sides into scrolling up and down?
like leave the left up and down for app launching but right side scrolling that would make it pretty much perfect for me
then of course a configurator, although i got it setup but no fun having to change on each new install
It sounds like a great program, thanks! Stroke Launcher, I like that one LOL
In the dark, the Xperia keyboard looks awesome. But in the light, the keys are hard to see. I have to tilt the device at different angles to read the keycaps. The keys are silver and the backlight makes them disappear in ambient light. Anyone have a hint, like shutting off key backlight when the light sensor registers light? Would be a great idea if they could do it - we only need the backlight for the keyboard when it's nearly dark.
Just go to settings, system, power, backlight and tick auto adjust. This is what i use anyway and it means that the keyboard hardly ever lights up in the day but looks great at night.
Thanks, this makes the keyboard better.
But the screen is now a bit less ambient than I prefer.
Is there no way of killing of that backlight permanently?
Me too...
I´m very interested in a solution too because I´m having the same experiences ! (silverkeys / when lit up hard to see)
I'd like to turn off the backlight of cursor keys. I mean completely. Now they light up if I click the cursor key. Any idea ?
Almost a year passed with no solution!!!
Xda developers come on!!
This works for me
The app ToggleAuto is the best solution I´ve found. It simply turns autobacklight on and of. works for me.
Put a shortcut on your todayscreen for easy access.
