Can someone explain why opera works perfectly but IE won't connect to ANYTHING...always says page not found??? Also...streaming video will ONLY work through TCPMP...HTC Streaming video won't work and Window's Media Player won't stream ANYTHING but TCPMP can work for certain file types fine. Also...even though I associate some filetypes with TCPMP they still try to open in WMP and then fail. How can you disassociate a file type from WMP or streaming media???
You can disassociate file types in the registry.
I've had similar issues before as well... but just for short periods of time and it would work again...
but after i flashed a new rom i noticed that my exchange could connect to the net, so could IE, but OctroTalk would create errors... I went into my connection settings and change my access point name from isp.cingular to wap.cingular and my username from [email protected] to [email protected] and everything works fine...
dont know if that helps, thought I'd share tho

EDIT: C'mon guys, streaming from VLC to WMP mobile isn't on anyone's mind? Partially, the reason I ask is because I want to write a C# app to stream from a VLC server to a WMPmobile hosted control. That way I can search my files remotely and change the streaming content. I plan on writing my own client on my Tilt and server to control VLC on my PC. Otherwise I'd consider using TCPMP or others. I really hope WMP mobile can handle streaming from VLC. Please respond.
I'm trying to transcode video using VLC and stream it to my Tilt. I've tried the MMS option and the HTTP option with the following 2 command lines:
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc "D:\Drift.avi" --sout "#transcode{vcodec=DIV3,vb=256,scale=1,acodec=mp3,ab=32,channels=2}:std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:8080}"
and:
C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC>vlc "D:\Drift.avi" --sout "#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,acodec=mp3,vb=800,ab=128}:standard{access=http,mux=asfh,dst=10.0.0.5:8080}"
The first one gave me a message about "file not avail on card or server is unavail" but I checked with another computer and connecting worked fine. The second one I got "The parameter is incorrect."
Do you have this working already? Please post the command line args you used to get it working. Any suggestions? I have tried searching the net, and there's a bit of info here and there on the subject, but no concrete results yet. If I can do this I am going to use VLC's VoD system (controllable through HTTP) and stream all my videos to my Tilt. Also, I would actually buy one of these:
http://www.gearfuse.com/go-straight-from-phone-to-tv-with-spectec-minisd-microsd-video-out-adapter/
VGA & TVout. Willing to try it if VLC works.
Bump. Sorry for this, I am really hoping catch someone who knows soon. I'm about to take a little hiatus.
Seriously? No one cares?
I know this isn't anything like what you're looking to do but this is what I do to view any content stored on my PC via 'streaming' over WiFi.
On the PC: Share the folder with the 'content' to the network... If you're running vista you can do this somewhat securely by limiting network access to certain users.
On the phone: Connect to the wireless network containing your windows network.
Using TCPMP browse to the network folder (e.g. //<Network-Name>/<Share-Name>/illegally downloaded movie.avi) and play your file...
Like I said, I know it isn't what you want but it works just fine and can tide you over until you've solved your question.
Umm...sounds like a lot of work considering what orb already does.

Whitch player to use for opening RTP network streams?
I just finished testing the new Coreplayer v1.2
That is the only app that supports RTP & RTSP streaming and works (in my experience). See the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370897
I have only done testing with the RTSP protocol, but since it is quite similar to RTP, you should have the same results as I had with the apps.
In one of my anwsers is a list of apps that support network streaming. You can test these apps.
But I can confirm that Coreplayer v1.2 was the only one to support my RTSP stream. I guess this will also apply to RTP streams.
I hope this was usefull...
When I tried to open RTP stream, it freezes
Is it an 'open' RTP server? Can I test and connect to it? (I can't find a e
server for testing at the moment)
Have you tried connecting over the PC (using VideoLAN for example) to the RTP server? Do you encounter any problems there?
If the RTP server is only accessible through your phone (via 3G for example), you might want to try and disable the hidden proxy. This possible fix was given by 'cushcalc' in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370897. Though it wasn't relevant to that problem, it might be relevant to yours.
On our netwrok we can use streaming TV. I play it with VLC(SAP) . In information about program is IP like rtp://@233.10.47.70:1234 . So I tried connect my phone to the network across my notebook. Internet goes well but TV not.
I have tried to access youtube.com from my at&t tilt usind exploerer on the 3g network, and connected to my home wireless network.
Any video I click opens a media playing window, and gives a realplayer error saying the file type is not supported.
I installed the realmoble .cab to see if that would fix it (as it did on my samsung blackjack), but it did not.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I'm using the latest rom, 1.6.*, and have an 8gb expansion card in.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I had the same problem. I installed HTCs Streamig Media app and it plays fine in that.
I had the same problem, searched for hours when I finally got it working:
Also install both the latest Flash and TCPMP cabs, along with the HTC Streaming Media application. Also verify that in the File Association you basically have every media file selected.
It works with both m.youtube youtube.com, but only when accessed through IE. I have not been able to find a solution for Opera Mobile or Mini (have't really looked though).
Good luck!
is there a way to delete REALPLAYER completely. I searched the registry found alot of stuff but didn't want to start deleting things.
I am runnig duttys wm 6.1 rom and I am having problems with streaming media. Whenever I try to play a video streaming media opens up and does nothing. Then when you press connect a filed pops up to enter a url. On my previous roms I just had to paste the url in and it usually worked. I am not sure if this issue has ever been resolved. I don't understand why the player fails to open it on the first try. Anyway the real problem I am having now is that the player fails to connect to the internet. I am using media net as my default data connection, unfortunately when I go to change the connection setting to media net, (it is currently set to "the internet") its does not save. As soon as I press ok and return to the settings menu it remains on the internet connection. I also tried editing other settings and none seem to remain changed. I am not sure if this is just an issue with this rom, or this build of the htc streaming media software. Any fix for this issue would be much appreciated, but I am willing to remove and avoid using this software entirely. The only thing is that I don't know how to remove or disable it as is is not listed as an installed program. So if anyone can help me out with that, that would be great.
get the flashvideo bundle and install tcpmp first, cabs and step by step instructions are in the wiki
I apologize if this has been answered, but I'm using PocketPlayer to stream talk radio over a mono bluetooth headset(so I can listen while driving without getting a ticket), which works beautifully.
My problem is that I can't get the URL of the stream in question from opera, I can copy a link that I'm using from opera to PocketPlayer and it plays it but that's an http url which takes a really long time to open and there's no mms link anywhere in Pocket Player. If I click that link it opens a mms url in WMP really fast and if I go into properties inside wmp theres a mms url which it lets you select, but it won't let me copy it so I can open it once in PocketPlayer and save it. Is that url in the registry somewhere?
Aah I got it to open in pocket player by associating a bunch of file types so never mind. It is pretty obnoxious and anti trusty to make that url in the properties dialog read only though.
