Use the Smartphone General forum for GENERIC posts, hacks, tutorials, questions!
If you have a question / tip / hack / trick also applicable to (most) other Smartphone models, please PLEASE post it to the brand new General Smartphone forum. Few Smartphone users check out the forums of other Smartphone models and, therefore, your questions / tips / other stuff will be read by a LOT more people if you post it to a general forum than in just a model-specific one.
As has already been pointed out, everything should be posted to the new General forum that isn’t ONLY related to the particular model. Some examples of what should be posted to the General forum and what should stay in a device-specific one:
posts like “the HTC Vox (s710) has a very bad-quality rubber cover” (example HERE and HERE) should stay in the device-specific Vox subforum because it’s (currently - we'll see how the forthcoming HTC Wings fare in this respect) only the Vox that is affected by this problem. The same stands for problems with the bootloaders of a given model or specific ROM upgrades, ROM versions, unlocking etc. only applicable to a given model (and nothing else).
posts like Live Messenger CAB’s (example HERE), OpenVPN hacks (example HERE), Adobe Flash hacking (example HERE) etc. should ALL be posted to the General forum because these hacks, information etc. can be used on (almost) ALL Smartphone models.
if you have a question that you feel can be answered by other Smartphone users, do NOT post it to a device-specific forum, but to the generic one. Generic questions are “What Web browsers should I use?”, “How do I configure my e-mail client?”, “How do I install Flash on my device” and so on. ONLY post questions like “What about ROM version X.Y for Smartphone model XY”, “How do I enable HSDPA in model XY”, “Where should I get WM6 for model XY”, “I have problems with the rubber covers of my Vox”, “My Excalibur’s buttons are hard to press” – that is, questions you’re absolutely sure about belonging to model-specific forums.
Also, make sure you continuously monitor the forum because I’ll post a lot of brand new Smartphone-related information in there.
Again and again,
POST ALL your questions / tips / hacks in the General forum if you find it can also apply to / answered by the owners of other Smartphone models
frequently visit the new forum for new tips / questions and, last but not least, my tutorials / roundups

Dear Menneisyys ( Moderator of htc breeze xda-developers site)....
after i red all the thread posted in the htc meteor forum, searching for solution for my problem: (after i tried to ugrade from my imate spjas to wm6.1, i'm stucked in windows mobile boot screen, and i'm able to synchronize my imarte on computer), i found that many members have this problem...
i tried all the solution proposed, and still in the same problem ( IPL-0.90, SPL-1.90.0000)...
as you are the moderator of this forum, and sure a lot experience in htc meteor, and to avoid confusion to all member, plz post for us a final and official soluion for this problem...
in all cases hope to reply on my post...

[Resources] Raphael Goes Wiki

The xda-developes wiki system is a (shamefully) under-used resource, lets change that shall we? The information is available to ALL users and naturally being a wiki everyone can contribute to it, details about ROMs and download links etc can be added when they appear and it is easy to use.
ALL new members need to take a read through it BEFORE asking questions since if it is a common topic you WILL find it in the wiki.

Rather than have an endless number of sticky threads containing the same information as in the wiki we actively encourage ALL members to use the wiki to its full potential, lets make an example of this forum and show the community in its best light.
Dont be scared of adding/editting information, its there for everyone so if something usefull is not in the wiki....add it!
Note:: we will be monitoring ALL changes so dont abuse the system. If there is a popular page which you think deserves a quick shortcut to in this sticky thread, PM a moderator to have it added. Enjoy people.

Android on kaiser needs its own forum

Android posts should be separate from WM rom development. Maybe a sub forum in rom development would be appropriate. 1/4 of the threads on the the front page are about android, and the official android thread is no longer updated (it's also almost 700 pages deep.). Suggestions?

Nice thought, but I think that like TF3D on Kaiser, Android is still considered a novelty, no offense, and not worthy of a sub forum
The reason there are so many front page threads is not because of the overwhelming interest, but is because people keep starting new threads with their questions. Two threads on wifi ? Unfortunately, much like the push for good video drivers, our Kaisers will be dead and gone and all the die hards will have Dreams and Heros and Magics long before Android is fully ported to the Kaiser.
I believe the Android thread has already been restarted once because people keep diluting it with redundancy, not new break throughs.

As you could have read in the board rules, we expect some degree of commitment and self-investigation.
We are not a helpdesk where you can simply throw out questions, we expect your first attempt to investigate it yourself.
To begin with: it is helpful to have a clear topic title.
It is also useful to clarify what the problem is, what you've already tried to fix the problem, where you searched, what you have found and why it did not work.
