Help Pls!Can`t connect to network

Hi,
I recently purchased an AT&T Tilt (HTC Tytn II) and unlocked it so that I can use it with the Rogers Network. It worked perfectly for about three weeks then I took it to Orlando for a vacation. While I was there, I change the network setting to manual and connect it to AT&T Roger so that I can use it as a roaming phone. When I got back to Canada, I changed the network detection back to automatic and it connected to Rogers for about 10 seconds then it lost the connection. So for about 10 seconds, it worked but only lasted 10 seconds. I also notice that when it connects it shows E (Edge) as a data connection. After 10 seconds, it changed to 3G. As soon as it changed to 3G, it loses the connection.
I wonder if anyone has this problem. I don`t know if this is because I used it on an AT&T roaming network. I`m very puzzled and any help is greatly appreciated. Thx!
I am having the same problem. I travel to New York quite a bit. My phone would give me a message that it was unable to connect to the GPRS network. So I would go into the Comm manger and deselect the 3g. Then the phone would get a signal. I was not getting a 3g signal, but an edge signal. When I would come home to Ft.Lauderdale the phone would work fine no problems with the 3g till last week.
Soft reset I get the 3g signal 4 bars then it disappears I get no signal ! and then I get an Edge signal in about 5 seconds or so. Everything works but I am unable to get the 3g speed.
If I try to force the phone into a 3g signal by selecting WCDMA on the band I can get a 3g icon. The voice part works fine and displays utms but any time I try to use the data I get some sort of error message. Like dialed "proxy" no response or the remote party would not connect.
Do you think that we might have something corrupting the radio?

My old at&t rom doesn`t give me the option of selecting the band. Maybe I should flash it with HTC rom and at least get the voice part to work. I don`t know if the security scanning machine at the airport will harm the phone in anyway. They always ask us to take out the laptop and camera separately.

3G/UMTS Issue with HTC Kaiser

Hello dear xda-developers.com forum!
Since app. 2 weeks I've got some strange issue with my HTC Kaiser:
If I set the Band/Network to auto, it's not possible to place phone calls or to surf over 3G/UMTS. If it's set to GSM (not to auto), I can surf over GPRS only and it's possible to place phone calls.
My provider is O2 - Germany. UMTS - option's enabled. UMTS-Sim-Card is used.
I upgraded to a Nothrill ROM with a new radio rom version - no effect. Same as before.
I hope there's no hardware-issue.
Eventually anyone can help me?
By the way: If auto - select is on (settings-phone-band, both values set to auto), the icon in the task bar shows that theres 3G available. If I try to surf with that connection, the Kaiser tries to connect with O2 interent - without success. But after that, the antenna-icon shows an exclamation mark and tells me, that theres no signal available....very strange thing.....
So, I hope anyone can help me,
regards and thanks for any help in advance,
Mario
Hi Many of us seem to have the same problem, its a hardware problem according to kilrah

Hardware problem, repair needed and unavoidable to get 3G functionality back.

My post is below.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been travelling round the world for a year and have the same problem, Have tried many radios, if I use 3G( wscdma) or auto band then the signal drops everytime i try to make a call, and no data is possible however if I use gsm only data and voice work fine, thease symptoms are on many networks, Chile, Easter Island,Tahiti, NZ, Fiji, Optus ( OZ ), and m1 ( singapore ),
Radios tried
EMO 1.71.09.01
Neon 1.65.24.36
1.65.21.18 ( att )
I even loaded the generic dopod rom + radio and it didnt seem to help.
Is it possible something low level has changed whilst doing all this flashing ?
Or could the Hard SPL affect something.
I always try to buy a 3G USIM in each country and test the sim in a backup G800 to ensure the carrier has enabled 3g data okay.
Phone is Kaiser ( HTC TytnII )
ROM is varied but and usually lorentis series roms -- L26 12 light atm
Symptoms, 3G icon shows but data wont connect, if you try to call radio strength bar drops to zero and cell communications are lost , sometimes reestablishes comms but often needs soft reset to band switch to work.
If 3G icon not showing all calls and GPRS data works Okay.
Personally I would not expect this to be a hardware failiure as many others are experiencing teh same fault and for working hardware to fail in use is more erratic in the failiure mode, but a low level register, or some other type of protocol corruption could easiliy be the cause......
The proven "high GPS current consumption in standby" issue is also present as it seems to be on all Kaisers but afaik the root cause of this was never resolved either .....

Kaiser (TyTN II) standby of death

Hi!
ROM Version: 1.56.411.5
ROM Date: 08/30/07
Radio Version: 1.27.12.32
Protocol Version: 22.45.88.07H
microSD: Kingston 2Gb
SIMcard: Beeline GPRS/EDGE internet
I'm use ActiveSync everytime for syncronisation with exchange server.
And My TyTN II dont resume from standby mode. 2 times...
Oh-h-h Only soft-reset can help.
Help me please!
PS
Sorry or my english.
Mine is suffering from SoD as well.
I got an HTC TyTNII. ROM 1.81.415.4wwe, ROM Date 10/29/2007, Radio 1.27.15.32, Protocol 22.51.88.13H.
Any cures out there?
I'm curious... did this just start happening, or did either of you recently flash?
I'm having the same issue, except I can recreate it consistently.
seems to be happening when I'm indoors... outdoors it's fine.
My guess is radio issue.
I had this problem on my Tytn II when I first got it and also on my new Touch Diamond 2. On my Tytn II the first week I was running with 3G enabled and had the owner ident screen turned on at power on.
I disabled both of these and never had the problem again, on my Diamond 2 I've had 3G enabled but not the owner ident screen so I guess it must be something to do with that... try setting the band to GSM only thus disabling 3G get much better battery life too.
This is old.....
Well, try to set the USB connexion to 'advance' in the settings. If you have Windows Mobile 6.0, upgrade to 6.1....
romualdrichard,
By "Old" do you mean that this has been resolved already?
I've checked the other threads and setting USB to advanced has not cleared it up for other users.
the "setting USB to advanced" has not worked for anyone on these threads (they usually come back and post "it happened again" or something)
my tilt is now sitting in a cupboard...and I'm back to my trusty 8525.
sigh...what a waste of money the tilt ended up being.
Solution? Maybe, who knows
I own a TyTN II since Sept 2008. WM6 Pro.

I have always had BB Connect 100 version installed and working. Other third party SW I have are insignificant utilities.
I've had 2 episodes of SOD, first about 7 months ago lasting for a couple of weeks. Don't know what I did but it simply went away after re installing BBConnect.
Second started a couple of weeks ago and drove me nuts, 5,6,7 times a day..
I tried everything mentions on every web page I could find. No luck.
Then yesterday I downloaded a clean up utility, used it once and have been on since.
try it: pmClean. Can't do any harm.
If I have a repeat episode of SOD, I'll report.
EDIT: Been 60 hours and counting. Only one SOD (vs. 5-6 per day before) and that only after I messed around with some proxy settings in a Java SSH client I tried to have running over the BB connection. Come to think of it, last time my SOD started after I seriously messed with my connections settings when arriving in Europe and not being able to get BB connection. Hmmmm.
I can say for certain that having 3G & GSM enabled (with little 3G symbol along top of screen some of the time) causes SOD.
The solution is to set band to GSM + AUTO only (Edge/GPRS) so you have an E or G symbol along top of screen.
I had the SOD on a new Touch Diamond 2 as well as on my old Tytn II and it wasn't until I set the band to GSM only that the SOD stopped happening.
I think that some people don't have the problem on their network or the areas they use the phone but others are not so lucky. Disabling 3G also increases battery life.
EDIT: Instead of enabling GSM only it may also be a good idea to try and enable 3G only by setting WCDMA + UTMS 2100 thereby disabling 2G (GSM), if the problem has something to do with when the phone switches between 3G and 2G this might also solve the problem. Its worth a try and if with 3G only enabled you still get the SOD then switch to GSM only and leave it.
Why not try another radio?

You could try it but its not likely to solve the problem seeing as its mainly a network problem, you'd be better off changing provider if changing the default band settings as above is too much for you.
FWIW I have now changed my band settings to 3G only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100) and I don't seem to have the SOD problem either, so you don't have to get rid of 3G totally, just change the band setting from auto 3G/2G to either 3G or 2G depending on what you really need, just don't leave it on auto unless you find a provider which that setting works with (ie no SODs)
EDIT: Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously everything I've written in this thread so far applies to those who have the Standby of Death because of the SIM or settings which impact the SIM, to rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

NEED HELP - Changing band loses the network (KPN)

I have a HTC Tytn II with KPN network(flexibel) and internet, the problem I have is that I can't change the band rate from GSM in AUTO, when i change it I have no network anymore, so the network is G and not 3G.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Hi I changed you title to something other that "NEED HELP".
You might get some more help now, hope you don't mind.

This sounds like a problem I had a while ago. It was an antenna issue. I had to send my TyTN2 for repair in order to fix it.
The symptoms: I could use only GSM in GSM mode. In auto or UMTS mode it kept on searching, connecting, disconnecting. Repeating over and over again. First the Y! -symbol, then the three dots building up (Y...) connecting, displaying 3G-symbol for about two seconds and then everything drops dead and the whole network searching starts again. It was only stable in GSM mode, could not even make phone calls in auto mode.
After calling support they collected my device for repair. Took about a week and a half and it is now fully operational again with 3G/HSDPA on KPN network in NL.

HTC Issues

Im on my second HTC device
1st was a Prophet that needed a new motherboard due to some hardware issues with the audio jack.
2nd is my TyTn II.
This time I can no longer connect to the 3g network. Phone was working fine till up to a few weeks ago, when peeps told me my phone was off.
I notice that it searches for a signal. Gets connected to G, then switches to 3G, then totally disconnects, then searches for the network, connects to G then switches to 3G, disconnects again and goes thru the whole process again.
I have flashed numerous roms and radios. I came across one radio that when it switches to 3G it stays connected but of course I cant make calls or send texts.
I also notice there is numerous posts on the net with the same issues, but there seems to be no answers. Seems to be another hardware issue which needs a new motherboard to fix it.
Without 3G my tytn II sucks. Im better of with a cheap nokia.
So should I retire my tytnII to the bottom of my draw alongside the prophet, or is there someone out there that has fixed this problem with a rom/radio?
Thank you for listening to my rant
It's because of bad 3G signal. 3G isn't perfect in all areas. I had similar problem and turning off 3G solved everything. Of course, now phone uses EDGE, but the battery lasts way longer (WM 6.5 works as long as WM 6.1 does).
Its not form the carrier. If i put my sim in other 3G phone signal is 100% ok. Just in the tytn II. I believe it to be a hardware issue
I had the same problem.
Is there no solution for this?
No real solution afaik, just wait and pray; I think it is the same issue as this:
