hey guys, i have two weird problems:
1- whenever i go to hotmail on PIE, PIE just automatically closes. i did a hard reset, yet it still does it. it works fine on opera, however i'm using the 5.99 proxy on tmobile, so opera doesnt work... is this happening to anybody else??
2- whenever i use google maps, every few seconds it tells me that google maps requires an internet connection. i push ok and it goes back to normal; for a few seconds at least. this happens even when i'm using it with wifi and have a strong internet connection.. this gets very annoying after a while, especially if i'm trying to navigate with the gps.. anybody got any help?
thanks guys
omar
Sounds more like a problem that is the result of a 5.99 tmobile plan, probably not meant for continous connections. On hotmail IDK...
Hi everyone,
Here's the problem with an edge connection on T-mobile:
1) In PIE (pocket internet explorer) I type in www.google.com
2) It takes me to www.google.com/m, which is fine with me
3) I'm looking at the webpage and then select "sign in"
4) PIE closes with no error codes or nothing
5) I tried several websites and I could surf a page or 2, then PIE closes
6) Cleared Storage and started from scratch, nor programs installed and it does the same thing
7) Cleared storage again and reset before customizations started, still PIE closes
Note: If I use a wi-fi connection, it works fine. I'm able to surf any webpage with no problems. The edge connection works fine also. I was able to listen to Sirius for several minutes with no problems. What would cause PIE to close with no errors? Any ideas?
By the way, this is my second Tilt. I was able to surf the web with zero problems with the first tilt I had. The first one had issues with tinny bluetooth sound and the built in speaker sound broke up and same with the mic. This one has the same issue, so it's either a T-mobile thing or hardware/software issue. I also notice a delay when trying to select something on the screen.
Thanks for the help,
GP
try taking off the proxy. i had the same problem with some sites but if i took off the proxy i didnt have the problem
I have the same issue with my Tilt, I've not found an answer. But it looks to only close when trying to go to a secure webpage. ie. gmail.com or logmein.com
hope someone can help us figure this out.
I am having a problem connecting to my XM Online account via xmstream and musicdock. I log into my account, and the channel's page loads, it switches to Windows Media. It will then say Buffering....Connecting and then after a few seconds it will Paused. After that nothing happens. I have no clue what is going on here. I have searched both the forum search tools and the Google search and nothing has come up. I am running Alex's 1.62 ATT Home ROM.
Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
Quick update: This only happens when I am connected via GRRS. If I connect via WiFi no problem, it plays fine. I have tried disabling and reenabling the proxy which doesn't work.
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm trying to sync my calendar with google calendar, if tried several apps, nothing worked (I only want to use Wifi). Now I tried googlesync (works over ActiveSync). But here I also get a network error (Proxyserver settings etc.)
I've got a German Vodafone X1 with R2A. Any ideas how to get this work?
I also have problems with other apps witch want internet access. the buil in Opera works fine over wifi, but when I try Fenec or the ne Opera Mobil, it only works, when I'm connected over the ISP, not over Wifi :-(
Thats somehow annoying ...
Any Ideas? Is this branding problem or something? Or am I'm too stupid?
Hello people!
I'm having a lot of difficulties trying to make my Galaxy S surfing on the net correctly... No matter what I do, I get 99% of the time this error message: "Web page not available". Sometimes it works, but very rarely. I'm using my home wifi connexion, and I tried every single browser I have: stock browser, Dolphin, xScope... only Opera Mini is working and loading pages normally.
I tried to load pages on MIUI, then on Simplicity, S.U.R.F.A.C.E. then Hybrid... nothing changes, still not able to load pages. I did a clean flashing of a stock JVQ with repartition and I finished with a hard reset after that... still nothing! One thing is that I'm able to load my router's configuration page (at 192.168.1.1). But I simply cannot connect to internet pages like Google, Facebook, Youtube, XDA etc...
I tried other devices on the same router and it's working fine: an iPhone, a Nokia phone, a laptop, a desktop. I tried another router, but nothing...
I have had the same problem, until I have updated my firmware
If you can't right now use Opera mini or Firefox portable. They use their own browser base, and should work fine
On normal data (3G) you can surf on these websites?
Whats about apps?
If you cannot connect through apps do the following:
Go to the setuppage of your router.
Type in your password and login.
Look for the WLAN settings.
Go to devices and look, if your device is in that list.
If yes:
Did you maybe block port 80 for your device?
If not:
Did you typed in the correct password?
Does your router accept new devices? (WLAN extended settings)
Report back
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
I had a very similar problem where I could only load in sites in opera mini (i assumed it must be something to do with opera mini rerooting traffic through their servers or something) but skyfire, dolphin, stock, opera mobile all would not work. Apps all worked fine like whatsapp, viber, and so on. This happened after i accidentally used the sim toolkit on my phone and it sent "browser settings".
For me deleting and redoing my APN settings fixed it but that would only work if your problem was on 3g. Worth a try anyway.
Thanks for your quick answers

That's what I'm actually doing: I'm using Opera Mini. But it's not as good as other browsers such as Dolphin. I can do a firmware update, or downgrade even, if it is a firmware related issue. I'm actually on JVR.

We still do not have 3G in my country.
Other apps are working fine, they can connect and download data, not everytime but much more than browsers. For example, market would not immediatly download new apps, it takes sometimes 2 or 3 tries. Anyway, I think they're working fine.
I checked my router's configuration to see if port 80 was blocked for my Galaxy S, but it's not. Actually I set it on DMZ mode to see if it will work, but no result.
And I couldn't find something to allow new devices on my router. But I guess it's not a problem since anything I tried to connect to it before worked fine.

Anyway, thank you for your help
I tried to connect on another router, from another place, and it worked. I installed a DD-WRT firmware on the router on which I wasn't able to connect but nothing changed... could it be the router hardware itself? The strange thing is that everything else is working on it (iPhone, laptop, desktop, other phones...).
