Phone Pictures & Camera - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Friends,
Two questions here!
The camera software that comes with the Tilt, is there a difference between other software that people have claimed?
I use exchange outlook and on the pocket pc phone when people call, the picture is small. How do I make the photo bigger?
Tvos

1. its described in the very first post of this thread
2. you can use s2u2 to display the contact when a call comes in. and use s2v or pocketcm to add the bigger pictures, search for them

I thought there was another camera software for the tilt than HTC update?
So you are saying that there is a width heigh issue with windows mobile incoming photos? Thought it was the resolution of the photos that I was using.
tvos

well if there is another software for camera, then why don you look at that thread where they discuss that other app and ask there.
there is no issue anywhere, wm was made to show pics that small. use s2u2 if you want to show bigger pics

I suggest that you try out SPB's new Mobil Shell v2; it has a really nice photo-contact feature.

Large Picture-ID

One thing that annoys me to no end is that you can put a picture in each contact but when they call it's just this tiny little pic on the screen.
Does anybody know of a program out there that will show a full screen (or close to it) picture of the person calling in? This has always annoyed me!
I remember someone with an iphone 'skin', which I believe brought up the full picture while you were RECEIVING a call. I can't remember if it also worked when placing a call.

Enjoy
Thank you much!
I've always wished that there was a caller ID program that did not come with all the bloat of Photo Contacts Pro. Seems like no one has ever bothered to make a simple program like that though.

Try Inesoft Address Book, very good with skinning support for the caller ID. www.inesoft.com
why cant there be just a simple program for photo caller ID? ive tried all the other programs and dont need the address book and everything else. Its a part of all these other programs, someone must know how to do this. thanks...
S2U2 v0.72 supports full screen photo caller ID. Search the forum and u'll get it free. Need to edit registry key though for caller ID to work. Just read the first post of the thread.
The iphone skin reffered to is the program Slide 2 Unlock. This is available via this forum. Within the post there are details of a registry setting which gives you two different options for setting caller ID pictures. One is a small pic and the other is full screen. Works well !

now it comes with it own config settings... so no need to do a reg edit....very nice app...
I installed S2U2 v0.86 last night and it appears at this early stage to do the large incoming caller photo very well. I also use PocketCM both for browsing contacts and to assign the caller photo. Both apps are from here at XDA-Developers and have excelent support. They are both skinnable.

Crappy Contact Picture Quality in HTC Home

Any way to increase the quality of the picture on the Favorite People tab of the HTC Home plugin? The originals are fairly high quality. I used to use Spb Pocket Shell which had much better quality contact thumbnails.

my guess is you have pocketcm installed. this was discovered on the cube thread. uninstall pocketcm. remove ur contact pictures then reassign them to your contacts and you should be good.
One of the camera options when taking a picture is "Contacts Photo"
Using this setting makes a much cleaner picture for HTC Home.

contact pictures look like S....t

Hi, I was wondering.
On all the diamond ads and demos, you see contact pictures looking sharp, colourfull and nice in he contact shortcut on TF3D.
When I set my contacts in the shortcut, they look like ****, all blury and like underscalled.
When I look at the used pictures threw the album, they look sharp.
Does anyone know haow to have nice pictures in the contact shortcut?
Thanks

I've noticed the same. I've also noticed that if you take a picture with your Diamond to use as a contact picture it will be sharp and if you take a high resolution picture of someone and crop it without too much scaling it will also be sharp. I think what we need to know is the optimum dimensions for the contact pics as well as the optimum resolution. I'm sure you'll find it somewhere on the forum if you search.
OK thanks,
I think I'll take a picture with the diamond and open it in photoshop, thenre I will have the good ration.
Thanks
I have seen the solution here somewhere before. It has to do with the file compression that the phone does when you select an image as a contact picture. There is a workaround.
to add a pic for contact go to the htc album select the contact pic from the album and add it to a contact with the menu
If you add contact pictures using Outlook on your PC, or Contacts on WM, then it doesn't save them at very high quality.
If you do it using TF3D, then the images are saved at a higher quality, and stay that way, even when they're syncronised to and from an exchange server or through ActiveSync
I had similar issue. Then, I've used S2V (http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/en/index.php?soft=2432) to set images to contacts and they appear very clear now in the TouchFlo3D. I do not really know why, but if you have time to check please let me know the results

I'll give it a try, thanks
What you need is go to PEOPLE in TFL3D, and flip to the picture you want to replace, and then click MENU | CHANGE PICTURE. Select any High Res pic you want!
In my previous phones I have been using photoshop to tune my pictures for contacts. I would love to know the resolution for the people/contact images aswell.

Help with a couple of Diamond tweaks

Looking for some help with two minor annoyances with the Diamond:
1. my photo contacts are far grainier and poor than the samples shown by HTC. What reso did they use? Any good software that can help with creating good contact pix?
2. There is a setting within WM on other phones to show just the next appointment or upcoming appointments. This seems to have been disbaled in the Diamond. I'd like to have more than just the next appointment appear when I scroll the home screen.
Thanks for any help.
HTC's demo contact pics would have been professionally photographed, scaled and then selected. Its called marketing ;-)
If you take some good pics of people's faces on a digital SLR or with the phone camera under very good lighting, and then use Photoshop to perfect them, you will get the same results.
About the contact pics, do a search. There was another topic about this.
It rescales the pictures badly unless you add them to your contacts in a certain way (some menu, i forget now).
The Windows Contact list contains photos but stores them at a very small resolution - so in the HTC contacts list they look terrible.
To fix this, first highlight which contact you want in the htc contacts window so that it's on top, then hit the menu button and select Change Picture.
Select your higher quality image and voila, looks great now.
Of course as this is not part of the normal contacts list, it's not synchronised and you need to redo it all again if you do a hard reset or upgrade roms.
Oh well

LOL - from the album, NOT from Outlook. Do that, and the photos will be all nice and shiny
upcoming appointments

There have been many comments. You can find them using the Search function.
However, there is no solution...
Thanks for the help on the contact photos. Using the People menus made all the difference.

Dial Screen Choices?

Would someone be so kind as to point me to where I might find some Dial Screen skins / options.
I'm looking for something that will:
1. show a LARGER Contact Image
2. and secondary if it could have slightly larger dial buttons that would be cool to
Thanks for any info...
Oh btw - I have a AT&T Tilt, one is running Cube(SCLPF_1-62_Uno_Skin_) and one is not.

Thanks...
Thanks for the link
That helps with the larger dial pad .... but what about one that lets you have a Larger Contact Image?
Not really sure if your talking about just contact photos for the incoming calls or what. Cuz if you install S2U2 (which is free) and you can turn on its caller ID function and make your contact photos show full screen when receiving calls. But as for large photos to choose from to make an outgoing call, the only thing I am really aware of is PocketX Photo Contacts From the description I read, it too can make your contact photos full screen for your caller ID for incoming calls but this costs money. You can also browse your contact list via somewhat large photos. But keep in mind this program is a PHONEBOOK app. As for a DIALER that has very large contact photos, I dont know. Also, I havnt used this PocketX app personally so I cant tell you much more about it. Sorry. Anyways hope this helps.
I searched for the same thing as the first poster. Although it's true that Photo Contacts would do the job, it's incredibly bloated *and* (as already pointed out) it's not a dialer.
I haven't found an all round solution yet. My temporary 'solution' is to have a custom theme/pages with WAD, allowing for a nice big friendly photo dialler for a selection of my regular contacts.
I'm quite disappointed with the phone aspects of this device, to be honest. But I've bought it now so I'm just trying to make the best of a bad situation. The rest's great tho
"Nice" to see I'm not the only one looking for this ;-)
What custom theme/pages with WAD are you using? (oh and what's WAD).
Any chance of a screen shot?
Thanks

I'd just shame myself if I posted a screenshot, my artistic talents are near zero
It's quite easy, although a little time consuming to set WAD up the way you like it, but here you go :
http://www.lakeridgesoftware.com/products/pocketpc/WisBarAdvanceDesktop/
Absolutely perfect for me, as I really (really!) don't like all these custom phone themes kicking around in here giving 3D effects and slowing my phone to a crawl.
WAD'll let you set things *your* way. Not perfect in it's entireity, but certainly the best thing available for me.
Any help, just ask. I'll do my best.
