Hi,
I sugest you to go to Kaiser Upgrading section and read any of the Dutty's thread, for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=375037
There are algo very good roms outhere, ALEX, UDK, L26, DSC and many others... Just make shure you read everything needed before start the flashing process...
Cheers

THanks for the link, however what is this cube or nocube rom? what does it do?

THIS IS NOT A FLAME...
You are going to have a difficult time getting your questions answered in this forum because you are not posting them in the correct area. Please head over to Dutty's thread, linked for you earlier, and read it front to back. Then if your questions are not answered, post them under that thread.
As a mod would say, Welcome to XDA-Dev, and good luck.

Guidance given. Related posts should be in existing threads.

Is completely useless, what was the point of this idea? Software development as a whole has its own section in the General forums, why bring it to the kaiser? Obviously any software development issues belongs there. ROM Development is not "software development". Seeing the Kaiser v6.1 builds floating around are fake wouldn't it be better to split kaiser rom, and kaiser v6.1 as was done with hermes 5 and 6.0? Or better yet leave it as it was seeing it was managing fine as it was. No other phone section is like this for a reason...
i do agree on the 6.1 and 6.0 section like the hermes but thats about it. i love this forum. please go troll somewhere else.. like the middle of the road
I don't think there are enough 6.0 users left for seperate forums. Most ROM's are 6.1 now.
This forum is for software Development and software issues. I think this would be a good place for discussion of issues with 3rd party apps (e.g TomTom & iGO problems), where as the Kaiser general forum can be used for discussion of HTC / M$ problems and any other Kaiser issues (e.g. Breakages etc.).
My 2c's worth.
That's what this forum is for...
i use wm6 on 1 of my phones.. and actually i wouldnt use 6.1 if it wasnt for dk's rom cuz 6.1 is trash in my eyes.. no rom out can even come close to touching Q's 6.0 rom

IMHO, the creation of new applications for all WM devices.
I see your point, not many applications will be developed specifically for the kaiser (except maybe Kaiser Tweak ).
I think the Dec & Hacking should be for proper Devs & Hacks writing new apps and this be used for Kaiser Software Issues. Kaiser Software Development does seem pretty redundant.
Again, just my speculation. Maybe the mods will explain this fully in time.

Well guys, don't take things as cast in stone just yet. It may stay or may be changed.
As someone who proposed changes there was initially one primary reason for a change:
To stop people using the Kaiser Upgrading etc... forum for everything from ROM stuff to adding a new theme.
I suggested a new title for the Upgrading forum:
Kaiser ROM and Software Development.
In other words a kind of more advanced development section that would specifically exclude the likes of adding themes, CAB requests and other routine stuff. As such the only change would really be to add the word General to the Kaiser Forum and remove the confusion of the word Upgrading from the development forum.
Being unclear in expressing myself, my suggestion for Kaiser ROM and Software Development was taken as a need for TWO Forums not a single one.
Ironically another device forum is requesting a change to the revised Kaiser setup as it is now
So lets hang loose and see what develops

So you are contributing to the worthless post level.

This probably won't end the argument. But the point of separating upgrading etc. is for more organization. If I want to look at roms I look in the rom section. If I want to find a good keyboard I'll look in this section. Another good reason for more organization for this phone as opposed to other phones is that this phone's forum population is twice as large as the next biggest forum population.
I'll save my insults for when you reply to this.

Dude, what's wrong? You can't read?
Kaiser general: For general questions about the kaiser, and general issues with your kaiser.
Kaiser accessories: For discussion of accessories for the kaiser.
Kaiser software: For software development, software specific issues, cab files, programs, etc. etc.
Kaiser ROM development: For ROM development and ROM specific issues
Stop complaining. The seperation of categories as it is now will definitely assist with organizing this messy kaiser section.
And as for there being no other phone sections that are like this, well... THEY SHOULD BE. Organization is a good thing, and that's what this is.
Now if you think we need ADDITIONAL organization, by adding even more sub-categories to the current categories...... such as WM6 and WM6.1 subcategories under kaiser software... that would be cool. Otherwise... just stop.

The way I see it, no need to ban anyone. Custel has a pretty good opinion. No need to be negative though. But, who knows, I personally don't know about this structure, but we'll just experiment with this. Kaiser is one of the busiest forums and we get lots of post over here. I still want to see some rules be set up so noobs will search. Too many new guys posting redundent threads. What I'm afraid of is if certain threads belong to this section or other sections.

One answer.... MOD'S!!!!!
Moderators use the many sections to keep the forums organized. I've meen a moderator of about a dozen different forums over the years.
Mods use their abilities to move threads that are in the wrong category, without deleting it. I'm telling you, more categories, and pleanty of sub-categories are very useful... and the mods can keep it all organized.

To buy or not to buy?

Hello there. I am seriously considering buying this phone and was wondering whether I should or not. Basically all the reviews are saying the same thing: that it has a lot of features that are well implemented, but it's way too slow. I was wondering just how much the tweaks and the available cooked ROMs sped things up, because I really, really want this phone.
Also, what apps from WM5 work on this device? I'm not really sure because of the VGA screen. Does PocketIRC work? What about PocketMusic? I know some applications work and others don't, I'd sort of like to know which, though :/
That information is all available in other topics. You are number #3213423 to post a topic whether he should buy it or not. We cannot decide for you. Read the possibilities yourself and make a decision. This thread, unfortunately like many, is completely useless.
i'll advice you to buy it only if you promise never to post again before you search and read all useless posts (like yrs) and reviews (full of them here and on the internet) that were written on subject. best advice: try google "diamond reviews" (so simple...)
if you don't agree with the above, than buy a polaris and go pest the polaris forum
Well that was completely rude. I decided to ask instead of searching through the hundreds of thousands of posts on this forum before I finally maybe found what I wanted. This is an GENERAL Diamond forum and people can ask whatever questions they want here, whether you choose to answer it is up to you.
Also I have done tons of research, about as much research as someone would do before they're about to shell out $600 for a phone, but the reviews don't really tell you how much cooked ROMs and tweaks help, do they?
If you pricks don't want to help me, fine. I'll ask on another, friendlier forum.
if you''l only be willing to use yr head. go to the "diamond ROM development", there are 7-8 threads with cooked ROMs. read them. usually there is one post regarding the ROM and lots of posts with comments on the ROM. read! you have even benchmarking with all ROMs:

too lazy maybe?

If you'd really done tons of research you would know that cooked ROMs really do help. That loads of software is available and that the phone is found brilliant by many users. Questions about battery, GPS etc are all easy to find. And as I've mentioned, you are not the first with these questions. You just had to look for a similar topic and you would also get the answers.
Whether or not you should buy it is completely personal. No one can enter your mind to have exactly your standards.

Hi,
Why Davideuck or Miri? Maybe you should have check ROMs coocked by Onkolog or PhamQuand. They are very good too and have similar bugs, eg. alarm doesn't work if HD is locked and sleeps, etc.
You should have try out each and make decision. Everyone has personal preferences.
Good luck bro
i'd like Karma rom.
i tried both in davideuck no touch flo but in miri there is both i thing in my opnion miri is better until now
Not working alarm from locked/sleeping state can be fixed with this tweak by enabling wakeup to full power
Try both and see witch one you like best.

I have used Miri 7.1 and now I use Davideuck V-7 with Manila. Both are great rom and it is up to you who you prefer. I always liked Davideuck so I use his rom now but thats only my choise.

I see your point, but when I get a response to my first post to try both versions I think that is not what I asked.
I have tried a lot of roms and it takes a lot of time to test all out! It is not done in one day! to test it it takes at least 2 days.
A forum (like this) is to share knowlage and experinces between users. isnt it?
I tried davideuck but quite lag. now i will change back to miri one
I think
I use Miri Rom 21500 7.2.
I think , if I can say somthing about the differences between the Roms I had to test both first. And If I test both I know or not what I am going to use.
So it is the wrong question !!
The Question is " WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ............ ROMs " ?
That´s what all the people whants to know without testing all ROM a cupple of Day´s without safty to register everything.

at least you can do it in the "general" forum not in the ROM Development forum.
you are transforming this forum in yr personal "give me an answer" forum. this is not a Q&A forum. with each answer you get you are pushing away from the first page really important stuff.
now after 13 posts what did u get? did u found somebody that used both ROMs and he can give a ready digested answer? did u really think that u can get a straight answer from such a (useless) thread? choosing a ROM is subjective. asking other's opinion instated of reading the relevant threads with user's opinion and user's reaction is pure laziness and total disregarding the forum rules.
all i (and many others) want is to be able to watch the ROM Development without being bothered by marathon chat threads that keep on growing without any benefit for the community.

we all have high expectations about other ppl.
welcome to the club of the disappointed ones!
I am on onkolog's 6.5 and its pretty AWESOME. I was using miri's 7.1 before I flashed to onkolog's. It is very smooth and I dont have the DayLightSavingTime bug in Manila (going back by an hour) in his ROM. The only complaint I have in onkolog's is the Calculator which SUX, but so does every other 6.5 ROM.
EDIT: I have not tried miri's 7.2 yet, so cannot comment on it.
My dilemma is...
...I am unfortunately a perfectionist.
And both roms, Miri's and davideuck's as well, aren't perfect.
So the following is what I like from Miri's rom:
the "sandclock" that appears when WM works looks much better
the menu icon of "file explorer" looks better (fits to the otehr HQ icons)
to be continued....
and here comes my positive thoughts about davideuck's rom:
RSS HUB onboard
HTC calendar starts the week with Moday
calculator is much better (rotation, you know..)
icon bar at the upper screen is awesome! and not buggy like Miri's
grey theme is great looking with black of Manila!
the used HTC dialer is my favorite (I loost track of all the names, versions and so maybe s.o can tell me which which is...)
to be continued...
what I wish to be introduces (in any of both roms) is...
A weekly view in HTC calendar
FULL German Translation (it ist a dream! not more and not less)
link feeds with RSS HUB when opening a newfeed via link in opera ;-)
stringent use of manila submenus, hints, warnings etc.

[QUEST] List of all roms available

i`m not sure if i`m breaking any rules by posting this but i`m new on this forum and i have only one problem .. when i`m trying to search for a rom i have ten's of results and onlyt 10 % of them give me what i want .. and sometimes not even thoes... i found a thread in the themes and app section whit known apps working on the touch hd etc ..
could someone make something like this for the roms ..
it`s a nightmare to search for a rom ..
this could be verry helpfull .. just "stick" the thread to the top of the forum and there a moderator or anyone who wants the job could post every existing rom and the link to it ..
no description .. just something like this :
name(dutty`s r4),(miri`s etc) win 6.5 .. build 2****
link (or something close to this)
the reason for wanting this is because whenever i`m trying to search for something i`m spending literaly hours trying to find the rom, app etc ..
thank`s for the answer .. what ever that is
first, let me welcome you to xda! what information are you searching for? your best bet is to read the 1st-10th posts of each ROM thread for details on the the ROM. reading the first few posts of each thread and then posts after the posted ROM release date (usually in the thread title) is the approach i use to get feedback.

Its not a bad idea, but it would also be very time consuming. You have to remember that a benchmark thread already exists which gives some information on each rom already, but not to the extent your seeking. Why not have a go at creating this thread yourself and add to this site. I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate your effort.

love to .. but like u said it would also be very time consuming .. and i don`t really have the time .. i will give`it a try .. but don`t be surprized if the thread apears after 2-3 months ...
im away from home 12 - 13 hours a day and that`s why i invited someone else to give`it a go .. i just came with the ideea
so who ever reads this and wants the job .. go ahead .. a lot of people will love you after the thread`s release
I've re-opened this thread.
Hopefully others want to help and assist this quest. I'll watch thread closely and if it develops I may sticky it. But its a long way off this for now.
Good luck
Hello
I am willing to give this a try.
I would first like to hear how it would be best to do it because it could quickly get messy.
So feel free to post your suggestions.
I would then be able to asess if i can really manage it.

I would suggest making a google documents account, and setting up a spreadsheet. Make it open access to all, and arrange with ROMs down the side and details along the top. You could have sections for different authors with their ROMs all in one place. Once you have a bare bones structure, invite people to contribute and publish the address of the spreadsheet.
Good luck, it's a great idea. I would also invite proposals for what column headings you have (eg it would be good to have votes so particularly successful ROMs could be identified.)
I'm also lost in the world of rom's
for a start:
what should be in the spreadsheet?
Name of the rom
Language
Version
On what WM is it based
Date of release
programs installed
Known problems and if they're solved

Hi
everything ok besides the last suggestion that would be to difficult i think.
Will post back on updates
Jay
Hello
ok Here is a barebone first try. Please view and suggest improvements. If you would like access to edit and add roms please post here or Pm me.
Jay
There was a page on the Wiki that was kept up to date:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_cookedroms
This doesn't seem to have been updated for some time.
Surely this is the best solution, a sticky in the forum which links to the Wiki, and that page is kept up to date.
Maybe the Wiki main page should have details and links to the latest ROM version for each ROM out there, and each one has a link to a page which has previous links in there. These ROMs could be grouped by Chef, and give the Chef an oppotunity to write something brief if they wish.
I do agree that is it very annoying that new threads are not started when a new version of a ROM appears as all the comments relate to when the thread was first started.
I would be happy to be in a group of people to keep the Wiki up to date...
Maybe we need to make it easy as well for the Chefs to notify moderators of the Wiki cooked ROMs page they have release a new version.
Jason
I wouldn't mind allowing someone access to editing Wingster and adding a Touch HD section to my website. I need someone who is dedicated and has time to keep it updated though.
Any takers? The website is (www.thewingster.com)

Hmm indeed the wiki seems to be the most logical solution.
Jay
I had just picked up on this thread and was about to comment on the spreadsheet and the fact that I'm sure a Wiki page was updated once upon a time and low and behold, it's been posted!
The fact is whilst many people are fluent with cooked ROM's, there are MANY more that have a number of valid reasons for being sceptical and wanting specific information before trying.
My personal belief is that the Wiki would be the best solution for this as it can be edited by all.
However I think a mandatory standard should be introduced. Something along the lines of:
ROM Name|OS Ver|Win Release|Manila Ver & Build|Features (top 5?)|Known Bugs (Cooker) | Community common issues|
Just something like this to get some sort of understanding.
For instance, in most of the recent ROMs there seems to be an issue with MMS but the cooker doesn't necessarily agree that it's a ROM issue, hence the community common issues section.
I'm working off my own experiences here however. I personally want to know what device it will work on, what the OS and Manila versions are, what the features are but what the tradeoff to known bugs are if I flash this ROM.
One last thing - Whilst I understand that many of the cookers have other things that are ongoing and therefore get to their ROM's as and when they can and again provide support where they can, I have seen very little support for their ROM's as they know there is another around the corner. That to me is the biggest issue for people wishing to jump into the world of cooked ROMS - the ability to know exactly what they are and aren't getting. Standard ROMs provide that and hence the comfort it brings.
Comments & thoughts?

Hello
A mandatory standard is definitly needed for the Wiki.
I guess we now need to form a team/group of people who are willing to invest some time in updating the wiki.
As for what you say on rom support, the rom thread gives you a lot of info it would also add a lot of work on an already ambitious project.
The main goal here is to provide a single place where you can see and find all available roms.

Well count me in - I'm willing to be a part of this. I really feel that for the "average user" there is very little that they can get at quickly and effectively. If you are a power user you can go through the whole "editing of manila files" and the other titbits in the threads but the fact is most people don't expect "normal" functions to be interrupted by new ROMs...they expect enhancements with no reduction in usability. I understand that there is a trade-off, but i think that trade-off should be immediately understood and available for all users to see.
Same here....
I have started tonight compiling some of the ROM details...
I could add a new table into the Cooked ROMs Wiki page with where I am up to and so people can get an idea of the layout I am proposing?
Personally I think there should be a table per WM version, and also per language, although I have concentrated efforts firstly on WWE.
I also would group in the table by Chef, listing their variants next to each other, each on a different line, but light, standard, heavy builds of the same variant that are usually on the same thread should be on one line, I think we can span the lines in the table on the Wiki so it looks right. The main table should only have latest links, and maybe another Wiki page with previous links, that we move when a new one comes out, so a record is kept where possible.
The column where the name of the ROM series is will link to the thread, with the download links having its own column if possible (maybe with light, standard, heavy if applicable)
Mods: Can you advise on posting links to other sites, i.e. with Dutty etc going to HTCPedia. Some of these Chefs generate a lot of interest, dont really want to exclude these...
Thanks
Jason
EDIT::
I have updated the cooked ROMs page, added a new table near the top, only WM6.5 ROMs WWE versions.
Not an extensive list yet, and some missing information as threads dont have some detail:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_cookedroms
Need to decide on whether the columns are suitable and whether there is more information that would be handy, and/or any other revisions to the layout. If anyone is aware of any of the missing information, that would be great, just go ahead and fill it in...
MODS: Could do with a new thread with a sticky, pointing to the cooked ROM Wiki page once we have sorted it out please.
Chaps,
Now I have put an example table on the cooked roms wiki page, can everyone who is interested take a look and see if we can make this wiki useful...
Thanks
Hello
Nice work! but as you might have noticed there is allready a wm 6.5 section so now we have two.
altough anyone can edit the wiki i was advised by the Mods to first compile the data and then when we have most of the info edit the wiki .
so i suppose we should focus on editing the google spreadsheet i set up.
If anyone wants access please post here.
P.S Jason and Wiggz please PM me a google username so i can add you to the list.

?????Whats the Best/Most effective rom for my stock X1????

ROMS AND OPINIONS (if you care)
Everytime this type of question is mentioned and discussed is pointless and has no pertinent use of obtaining any real information as each ROM is cooked to different needs for different cooks. The only way to find out which ROM is best for you is to read each Cook's thread and all the posts of what people are talking about and to try each ROM for yourself. And if none of the ROMs are what you're looking for then the only true way to satisfy your needs is to stop being a customer and become a chef yourself and cook up the ROM the way you like it.
It doesn't take long to flash your phone and play with it for a bit. If you don't like it then flash it with a different ROM and try that out. The longest time you'll spend is most likely downloading the ROMs. So I suggest to start downloading all the ROMs you'd like to try and save the to your HD and the just start loading a ROM on to your phone until you find one that you like.
And PLEASE do not post bugs or problems with the ROMs until you've read all the posts in that ROMs thread as it's most likely been mentioned and stated how to correct the problem. i.e. SMS not working in some ROMs.
And the first page of each Cook's ROM threads state what they've done and usually post pictures of the ROMs so you have an idea of what you're tasting. So READ and enjoy!
Yet another one of these threads?!?
you should read the wiki and the stickies at the top of the forums...
hey, sorry i wasnt aware of how many times this type of questions were posted.

hi, i find of really use these kind of question, there is a lot of ROMs, and little information of their performance, by example, my problem is that i don't know if my phone is slow or the rom, wich uses less power...

That's why I replied and said to go to a cook's ROM and read the entire thread of what other users have posted! Don't expect a free handout here. You have to read to learn.

christ... do you need to bold and highlight everything?
there's no 1 rom that'll suit all users / we all have different preferences
"overview are already given by the ROM author/cook in their own respect threads"...
if you you cant be bothered to read and try/error yourself then i'm sorry, no one here can help you...
stick with the official rom you're using now... this would cause you the least issues...
otherwise go get an iphone/nokia
well, im always in good mood on helping new guys (coz im new and i know how hard is to jump in a so technical forum without any help), and personally i find comments like "tehres a lot of threads like this...bla bla", very unuseful...better to not answer at all instead of answering without giving informations...
anyway, as stated before, there is a lot of ROMs here, so search the one that will fit better your personality and don't bother ...
(jk)
is best to know what kind of improvements you'r searching.
Most of the info are coded in the title of the thread , so you can speed up a bit your research.
For example : [25.01.09] is the release date, this become useful when you need to track a ROM to see if there is some new updates, or just to locate the ROM in the time...
[WM.6.5.3] : it shows the OS (Windows Mobile 6.5.3) that will replace your old, lazy Windows Mobile 6.1, installed in all the official ROMs.
So if you are searching for a ROM including WiMo 6.5 or Android etc... this will be the code that should shine on your eyes.
[Manila.....] it means that the User Interface Manila (tipical in HTC products like Diamond, HD etc) was ported in the device, so you will get a pretty new user interface that you can also use like a panel instead of having it as default interface.
Others criteria can be referred to the pureness of a ROM or declare what kind of customizations were made by the cook , so a [WM.6.5 PURE] means that you will find ONLY the improvement of WM6.5.
Others are like brands, recalling the name of the cook, or the name of a "famous" ROM that has been changed in several aspect from the original but that will keep the feeling of the original one (like Touch-IT, SEX1, Un-Off series)...
Some others will refer to a specific HTC phone [LEO] or [TOPAZ], this means that the ROM were basically ported from an HTC device to another, or from another device to our X1 (see X2 ROMS) ...
Or you can find language indications [ITA] or [ENG] or [SWE] etc etc...
But first you need to know what you are searching for ...
For sure switching to WM6.5 is a huge change (imho) , avoiding Manila will save a lot of RAM, searching for some X2 stuff will give you some eye candy etc etc...
personally i installed on first days of December the SEX1 Pure WM 6.5 ROM from gtrab... amazing...simply amazing... very fast and bug free... it gave additional months of life to my X1.
On how to install a custom ROM (pretty different from updating ROM via SEUS) there is 2 sticky threads in this forum, you should learn how to do it by yourself...so don't ask about this...
Enjoy your X1 !

How are any of the posts that Senior members like myself have posted are useless? You can't really experience a cook's ROM by asking other people. What someone might like might not be what's best for you. You really need to learn more about how this forum works. This isn't your typical forum where you can ask and get. This is a forum where you learn from experience, hence "Devolopers" in the title.
And the sharing of "warez" is not allowed! So you obviously have a lot of learning and reading to do. First off, start with the stickies on the main pages.
I understand that there is alot to this forum, i have been getting alot of my updates from here. when i said useless i meant just reply to this thread without attempting to help is useless. I like to hear people's opinions in order to make a decision since there is so much in this forum. it would be nice just to get some insight and opinions, not overloaded links.

the best rom i can say in term of speed, stable, responsive would be wildchild 6.1 rom almost a year ago, its download likes only 60-70mb though, nothing install and you can install whatever you want after then

Thanks for the info.
I've been wanting to ask the same question but I'm waaaayy to shy to get flamed. There is such a thing as a bad answer and it's the one that contains useless or condescending material (like asking how to enable root login in linux, we know it's bad form but regurgitation of that is just stupid, answer the question or don't post).
That being said, I've been through these forums, have loaded several roms on and have tried to read through the rom pages. I have also noticed that sometimes things like radio version are missing from rom pages and that there's 110 or so pages of comments. Unfortunately, I don't have near enough time to look through that many comments, though I'd love to. This thread, due to one great answer, is awesome.
Basically, I forget the name, but sernior dude that keeps posting to read the comments and whatnot, in that same amount of time, could probably have contributed quite a bit to this thread, being in the know and probably having an opinion on the various roms/chefs/whatnot...
Also, a stikied thread where chef's can add their new roms to a table, or something on those lines, would be a huge benefit to everyone and save tonnes of time, not to mention it would get more spotlight for each chef as one wouldn't have to search through the billions of forum pages to find a rom...
Looking for an android rom at the moment, personally

There's always time to learn...I own my own business working ungodly hours a week and I manage to find time to get on the forums to read/download ROMs. I was being straight forward about my approach, but I wasn't being rude at all. I can prove posts to where I'm rude. But for someone who's wanting to flash ROMs is willing to read to flash their phone, but not willing to read and find out what each cook has specifically done to their ROMs and asking for opinions instead is just flat out lazy.

The OP is willing to read about how flash his phone, but not willing to read what each ROM is about? I could share my experiences, but if you want to know what I think then go to each ROM specific thread and read what I've written! And if you're too lazy to really read the entire thread and find out what the ROM is really about because of the "I don't have time" excuse then just read the first page of each cook's ROM. There's almost always pictures, change logs, updates, and a good general wealth of information of what that ROM is about.
There should be no reason for threads to be started about which ROM is best for me as it's been stated a few times now that basically it's "To Each and Their Own!" This forum is about research and development. RESEARCH!
@im packing
really how you can judge the time of other people?
