I'm running:
ATT Tilt
Alex's UltraClean v5.WM61.HTC.302.beta2 (3.02.405.0 WWE)
KAISER Radio 1.64.08.21
I've had my Tilt about 8 months, and 3G has finally come to my area and I've got a few questions/problems.
The first (and most important) is that I can't make phone calls while on 3G. On EDGE if I tried it would pop up an error about having a data session and a call session. On 3G it just pretends to connect but never does. It goes to H mode when I've got an active data session. (HSDPA is on.)
The second is why is everyone capped at ~700-900kbit/s? At least I seems that way to me and some of my coworkers. I could have sworn I was in a city once (Richmond) and I was getting ~3200kbit/s.
The last thing is that I haven't been keeping up with ROM development very well. I've been looking for something that has most of the fixes, upgrades, and tweaks but doesn't have anything or hardly anything installed. I like the ATT roms, but I can use the Operator Config if need be. I have UC set up for anything else.
Any comments or suggestions?
sounds like someone needs to introduce you to the search function. The 3G problem was discussed last week so the thread isn't far behind, I have no idea about the cap, and you need to go look at the 50 million roms out there.
Searching for:
"tilt 3g phone call"
"tilt 3g voice and data"
"tilt 3g phone call while data connected"
And any other number of queries didn't produce any results for me. I think I'll browse around general some more, but I'd not seen it mentioned. What query would you use to produce the intended results?
Also, I've browsed around the ROM forums a lot. They're confusing at best. I was hoping someone could make a suggestion off-hand about something they new and liked.
Dutty's Rom
Very rarely will you get a good answer from a senior member on this site. All they say is search. Kind of hard to find a real good answer in a search if it turns up 10000 results. There a lot of helpful people on here but it seems to me that the most likely response will be search...it's out there.
I use Dutty's 6.1 ROM and really like it although I haven't tried any of the others yet.
Not to sure about the 3G cap you are talking about. I didn't notice it in any of the previous posts. I've only been fortunate enough to use 3G in one are so I don't know how it compares with out places. I only average about 750k or so.
Good luck!

Jebus Pot Smoking Cries. You know why we say Search? It's not because we don't like giving the answer, we don't like giving the same answer over and over and oever. By not searching and creating usless threads it makes the Search results turn up 10000 results.
So don't act like you are better than us. Your only going to make people mad. We say Search, because it is out there. I know I personally, with a few other people, worked hard on formatting the Kaiser FAQ Wiki. If there is something not on there that you would like to be, you can PM me or add it yourself.
Just remember without senior members you wouldn't have Custom ROMs or Diamond Keyboards or HardSPL. So don't act holier then thou, because in the end we are here to foster learning by doing, not feeding by spoon.

Not at all acting holier then thou. Just stating the obvious. I've found a lot of help here without having to ask any questions. By doing the right thing and searching and browsing but if that fails and you can't find what you are looking for...you come here and ask the question usually the only response from most users are SEARCH...it's out there. Well heck I've already done that...I've asked for help and still don't have a solution. It kind of sucks sometimes for us "newbies".
I've read the FAQ and I've read the GWENI thing just now. No dice on either of my questions. I've also read like the first 5 pages of Kaiser general.
I'm not pleased with the assumption that I didn't or have not searched. I just haven't found. I appreciate people who take the time to do these things and answer questions and catelogue and keep the answers. I just can't find where my answer lives.
I think I'm going to try out the HyperDragon III rom and/or the dutty newest one. But neither of them satisfy my requirement of not being pre installed with other things.
We'll see how they go.
Also: look at the join date, I may not post but I've been around since my 8125 and done a lot of flashing and reading. I've just not found the answer yet so I came to see (directly) if anyone else had.

H --> 3G --> E --> nothing! help!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, I've lived in an area with just EDGE and my TyTN II for a year now without probs. I've changed the ROMs after using HardSPL from Olipro, etc. without probs. I went over the weekend to Ft. Lauderdale, which is a 3G area, and my pho
ne went crazy. It first shows an H with full strength... then when I try to make a call, it either won't connect or the signal goes completely dead. Other times if I just watch it, it will switch between H, 3G, E, and even G. Sometimes it'll even lose the signal altogether. What is going on?!? I've tried different radios (1.65.20.29 with WM6.1, 1.27.12.11 WM6.0, etc.) and they all do the same thing.
Interestingly, if I go to phone settings and change my band detection things from Auto to GSM and the data to 4 U.S. GSM frequencies, it goes right to Edge and all phone calls go through fine (but now I don't have 3G/H data)
Any ideas guys?

whoa whoa whoa, listen here friend. None of us really has a problem with people doing the searchs and coming back for help (if they really did search), it's when people really don't search or search for a few minutes that makes us say that.
If I can search the problem and find it within 5 minutes, I'll say go search.
See what I'm sayn.

Nope
My problem is that I can make a call OR I can browse the internet. I can't / couldn't do both.
I'm now using :
ROM: Hyperdragon IIIm
Radio: 1.63.16.25
And I can do 3G internet and phone calls. The new rom is... decent for now. Its not as responsive as I'd like but it has the new D3D stuff built in to it. I'd really like to know what the root cause of my problem was. For now I'll settle with this as the fix.
Also, nobody else had data rate cap stuff with AT&T?
ANYONE CONFIRM THAT THEY HAVE A DIAMOND WORKING ON THE 850 3G BAND FOR ATT?
I have been told that the "DIAM130" diamond will work for the 850 3g att band but I am yet to have anyone confirm this! I really wanna get a diamond but 3g is a must for me, so please let us know ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
Yes, I HAVE MY DIAMOND RUNNING ON 3G ON BOTH AT&T FREQUENCIES, 850 AND 1900. It runs perfect with no issues whatsoever. So Lewi, all you have to do is buy any tri-band or quad-band Diamond and not modify it one bit, it'll work flawlessly in the United States. Go get it buddy, it's yours for the taking!
(note: for any user besides lewi, this will not work. don't waste your money.)
Please spend more time searching and less time double posting.

Thanks you all so much for your kindness, yes I have double posted about this and I continue to get a mixed review. If you would spend more time helping then being a jack [email protected]# then maybe you would not only help me but others as well. For the record here are the replys to my threads:
poedgirl posted: I've got 850MHz on 3G here with the 1.00.25.05 radio ROM which came on my device (works on Telstra NextG here in Australia which is 850MHz HSDPA).
MrCalico posted: just got my Diamond Touch today and it came with the

ROM: 1.93.456.2 WWE Dated (7/10/08)
O/S: CE 5.2.19965 (Build 19965.1.2.3)
I'm only getting (E)dge on AT&T
No (G) or (H)
My upgraded TILT/TYN II connects to G3 and H at my location here in Los Angeles.
I hope someone figures out a way to get at least a G3 and 850Mhz radio.
Does it just need to be unlocked ??
I have read the many many threads that have been posted about this topic and like most everyone else I am still on the fence as to if there is indeed a DIAMOND that works for the us 3g 850 band! In the same threads that you guys have blasted for me not reading I have seen that supposly there is a "DIAM130" that gets the 850mhz hsdpa 3g band. I am just trying to get someone to confirm it. I am sorry if I have offended anyone, I am just trying to clarify something not just for me but for everyone else!
I think this statement is not only stupid but rude, as I am just merly trying to clarify something:

Lewi, I would reiterate what jomo says here and ask that you please update the title of your thread to include a question mark instead of an exclamation point. I for one know that I opened the thread very excited thinking that I was getting new info on a subject that's been discussed so much for the past few weeks.
Thanks.
You think we are only trying to be obnoxious in our replies. You misunderstand. This thread only serves to FURTHER THE CONFUSION. If everyone would just keep the conversation in the limited number of threads, then there won't be so much mis- or incomplete information.
I posted the links to the other relevant and fully vetted threads. Answering the same questions here will not serve any purpose and increases the chances of conflicting information.
Whether you believe it or not, my direct and abrupt post was meant to improve your chances of getting the right answer.
And yes, for the love of all that is good, you shouldhave at least changed the thread title. Or let's just let this one die and keep the conversation in the other, original threads.

Your example of the two posts with contradictory information is a perfect example of why your creation of a new post to discuss an issue already covered in other posts is a problem.
If just ONE post exists and people reply rather than create a new post, contradictions such as you experienced will be apparent and can be rectified. If there are multiple posts, there is a good chance people following only one of the post threads will only see half of the discussion and contradictory information will not be apparent and so not rectified.
This is a problem in this forum since many people are posting in a hurry without searching first to see if their question has already been asked. Continuation of this pattern will diminish the usefulness of this forum, to everyone's detriment. This is a BIG concern for long time posters who are trying to help people like yourself get answers, so as episodes of this behavior increase, their tempers flare.
It is considerate to understand the informal and formal rules of any group of people and abide by them, including a newsgroup, especially if you are asking for something. Not doing so sends the message that you don't care about something they value - don't be surprised if they respond negatively.
You can also try doing resarch outside this forum - for example, if you're interested in finding out about the existance of a US 3G Diamond, you might want to try searching using Google. You might be surprised what you find.
lewi - thanks for asking about this. I have a Diamond with the .05 radio and it is working on EDGE with AT&T for sure. I'd love it to work on 3G! It's not at all clear to me a) whether it would switch to 3G automatically if it could, or b) if it would need some configuration. Moreover, it's not clear to me how one can tell which frequency the radio is currently operating on.

Thank you for your great post, I have been on google and have done a ton of research outside of these forums, and like i have posted in one of the forums I have not seen anyone saying they have a diamond working here in the us on 3G! It is so hard to go by what "websites" say on the specs because so much of there information is just cut and pasted and usually wrong. For instance COMP USA had on there site where they were selling the diamond that worked for US 3G and they got so many orders and calls on it that they finally relized that they were wrong and it didnt actually work, so they changed it.
here is the link about that http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/...-surfaces-at-compusa-with-quad-band-connecti/
here is a link saying that there isnt any diamond that is compatible with the hspa 850 band at this time:
http://www.electronista.com/articles/08/07/25/diamond.gets.gsm.850.edge/
THIS WOULD EXPLAIN THE PEOPLE SAYING THEY ARE ONLY GETTING GSM (EDGE)
but here is also another link saying that the fcc has approved the us 3g band diamond:
http://www.intomobile.com/2008/07/2...ts-fcc-approval-with-us-3g-hsdpa-support.html
BUT THIS WOULD EXPLAIN THE PEOPLE SAYING THAT THERE IS A 3G BAND DIAMOND "DIAM130"
AS YOU CAN SEE I HAVE DONE ALOT OF SEARCHING AND STILL IT IS HARD TO GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER.
Thanks for all the input from everyone and maybe one day we will get someone to actually post "I HAVE A DIAMOND IN THE US AND ITS WORKING JUST GREAT ON 3G" =o)
Until then I guess I will just have to live without the beautiful VGA screen and make do with my tilt.
Okay, Lewi, you want a PERFECTLY CLEAR CUT AND HONEST ANSWER...
Here we go, it's been said a million times...
THE NEWEST ROM FOR THE DIAMOND...
ENABLES 850MHZ GSM ONLY...
THEREFORE...
YOUR DIAMOND NOW HAS...
850/900/1800/1900 GSM....
900/2100 UMTS...
WHICH WILL NOT WORK ON AT&T'S 3G BANDS OF 850 OR 1900.
Case closed, no matter how many times you ask in this section, the ROM development section, or any other for that matter, this is what is known.
Thank you for your POSITIVE reply =o) So does anyone have any news on this http://www.intomobile.com/2008/07/29...a-support.html or when it might be available?

Well THAT'S a disappointment. Just confirmed that no Diamond, unless made for the US, will work with US 3G bands ever. Good luck to those people who bought European versions to have them early.
Howeverrr, if I do recall, I think the Touch Pro has all radios in it... Didn't someone post on here about the project leader for the Diamond saying how they had to remove the US radio to make it so slim? Hmm...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2471618&postcount=54
It seems he's right.
And things just get curiouser and curiouser... Why doesn't the Touch Pro FCC test mention WCDMA? Is it because the ROM is locking it like 850 GSM in the original Diamond, or was it left out of that too?

Well that might be good for some US folks. But doesn't cut it for me. I need tri-band 3G. I travel to Asia way too much to go without 2100 3G. Heck this new phone won't even work in Korea or Japan. Sad how they are taking a step back in functionality here. My current TC works almost everywhere in full 3G glory. No TD will be able to do that. Truly disappointing if true. Between this and the Omnia drama, I might be done with WM.
I just don't understand at all how this phone works on Telstra NextG (850MHz HSPA) with the 1.00.25.05 radio ROM and yet it doesn't work on the US carriers, doesn't make sense to me.
US TD

The Touch Pro should work everywhere with 3G... If it still has the radio like we suspect it does.
Hello All,
I realize this issue has been addressed, and there are a few short threads on the topic. Frankly, I am surprised that there is not more chatter regarding the lack of Android 6.0 - Marshmallow for Nexus 6 devices purchased through T-Mobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am no expert, but would not consider myself in the "noob" category. I am fully aware of the wider LTE spectrum required for T-Mobile Nexus devices, i.e. Band 12, as well as carrier enabled Wi-Fi calling over T-Mobile's network.
I just can't seem to understand how almost 2 months later, my d*mn Nexus 6 is still on 5.1.1. ?!?!?!?
Does anyone have anymore insight regarding this? Can we discuss and find out WHY they are still in their "Testing" phase? Honestly, I'm glad that they are doing the properly required due diligence and QA testing, but 2 months?!?!?!?!? COME ON T-Mobile/Google!
At this point, I would NOT be surprised to get 6.0 on my Note 5 before my Nexus 6. Wait, on second thought, I doubt it. Will probably get it after the Note 7 comes out.
And please don't tell me I can flash the factory image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en I am fully aware and we have all gone this route plenty of times. I simply want to start a meaningful discussion that may shed some light on WHAT in the WORLD is taking T-Mobile so long to finish validating their Marshmallow build, or if it's not truly that, then what is the hold up??????
Do you really think your going to get a meaningful discussion here? Especially when your ranting your head off throwing caps around and cursing in the thread title?
Regardless of if its what you want to hear or not... Google made the update available for you the instant it came out. If you have chosen not to take it, then that was your choice.
Wait patiently, or make the choice to go take the update... Those are your options.
Cursing in the title? I took the courtesy of censoring it, if you haven't noticed and Hell isn't exactly a "bad word". Relax man, it isn't directed at you or anyone else for that matter. If you have nothing "meaningful" to say, then why waste time even replying. Didn't realize there were so many sensitive females on this website.
It's quite obvious you don't like to read things in it's entirety prior to replying to a stranger. I would recommend Neurontin, or maybe Zoloft. Might help with the impulse control.
Punctuation exists for a reason. If I want to complain about a Nexus branded device not receiving a major update two months after release within the context of a website that exists to discuss just these types of issues, I will.
Again, Neurontin... ENN, EE, YOU, ARR, OH, ENN, TEE, EYE, ENN. Talk with your shrink about it. Might help get your head out of your rectum. Unless of course your father prefers it that way.
Then by all means, carry on.
Anyhow, spoke to a T-Mobile tech support representative, not that they have ever been much help historically, but apparently they are testing T-Mobile specific applications to ensure that they play well with Android 6.0 (He Mentioned Visual Voicemail, T-Mobile My Account, etc.). Does that mean that the Nexus 6 devices purchased via T-Mobile will have a disparate build? Based on what this guy said, it looks like it.
Another reason why I didn't just blindly flash the Universal builds. Not to mention, many T-Mobile customers who have already done so, are experiencing bugs with their devices and/or broken functionality.

I don't give a **** if you say hell. Just saying if you want the reasonable conversation your claim to, your doing a pretty ****ing bad job of starting it.
Your Nexus branded devices DOES have an update. You're just waiting for it to be sent to you, by all means continue to do so.

Son, you really DO NOT know what you are talking about. Go look at the Factory Image page at https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en , now go to Shamu, and read the images (might take a bit of scrolling, so resist the urge to give up and rant and rave, in an attempt to teach me etiquette). Do you see where it says "5.1.0 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LMY47M)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28E)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28J)" or 5.1.1 "(For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28K)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28M)" or "5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28N)"??
Again, impulse control. Do a little research before replying. Not to mention VoLTE and Cat 14 LTE that only T-Mobile uses (in this country, and at this time). Not saying that the universal build absolutely WON'T work, but there are more than a few stories out there stating that exact opposite. I for one, would like to wait for a build that is catered to the frequencies of my Mobile network for the simple fact that it will address all of those incompatibility issues.
Anger issues? Abused as a child? Watch your dirty little mouth. Also, learn some basic grammar "I don't give a **** if you say hell. Just saying if you want the reasonable conversation "your" claim to, "your"doing a pretty ****ing bad job of starting it"?
I think you meant "you" and you're"
How do we go from hell to F***? You're one sick little boy.
Moderator, please close this thread, as you deem fit.
Also, many people who have downloaded the universal image, wiped their devices, and installed the update, have had to root, downgrade their Radio for 5.1.1. just to get an LTE signal and WiFi calling as well as a number of other features to work properly.
Again, read before you reply.

Yes. You have them.

Please note, as documented by tmobile support, no tmobile specific build is presented because beginning with 6.0 its a unified build.
Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) is a unified build and is the same version across all carriers. WiFi Calling is baked into the OS.

simms22, thanks for the advice. I do realize that, and I have read as much for the most part. My main point was really an attempt at trying to gain an understanding as to why Nexus 6 devices from T-Mobile have not yet been updated to Marshmallow.
I appreciate your comment. I have also read about a number of incompatibility issues when flashing the universal build, so I like to err on the side of caution, especially considering that I use my Note 5 as a daily driver. Also, not trying to do a full wipe just yet (I realize I can do so without, but from what I have read, that is what is causing the bugs/incompatibility).
Like I stated earlier, the T-Mobile tech. rep. stated that there will be a T-Mobile specific build out soon. Now what that contains, I cannot say. Just trying to gain some insight. It could just be T-Mobile bloatware, though I am fairly certain they are addressing some of the known issues that are affecting a portion of Nexus 6 devices running Marshmallow on T-Mobile.
Thanks again.

You just linked me to a site where a bunch of amateurs are discussing flashing a non standard build. Where, by the way, a person poses the question "a) Is that a T-Mobile Build? I am not seeing Wi-Fi calling related section anywhere"
Really, do you read anything before posting replying?
I would look at this page that T-Mobile has published.
https://support.t-mobile.com/community/phones-tablets-devices/software-updates#tmoSUPDocTitle
Do you see what it says? If you need help reading (and then pausing to process), let me know.
Here is a recap for people with learning disabilities (no offense if you really have one, seriously).
UPDATE PROCESS 3 stages. Current: Stage 2 T-Mobile testing.
Please man, just stop replying. Because I can keep making you look like your mother dropped you on your head all night.

Also, do you see where the correct answer states "Flashing with a T-Mobile rom is going to require you to unlock your bootloader...." Key words "T-Mobile ROM"
Where does it say that all builds are unified starting at Android 6.0? That may be the case for all other carriers, but it is PRETTY obvious, that this does not apply to the T-Mobile build for 6.0.

Your not really making me look like I have been dropped on my head, your making yourself look like a raving lunatic.
I gave you the same answer as simms, other than the fact that I linked to the official support site where the answer marked as correct supports what I said.

Flashing ANY rom is going to require a bootloader unlock, so yes flashing a tmobile rom would require a bootloader unlock.
Other carriers then T-Mobile have a unified build? lol, check your definitions there man

make or become united, uniform, or whole.
It's not united or uniform if its different for tmobile... the entire basis of a unified build is it's the same for everyone.
This thread is too good. Nothing but multiparagraph rants and personal insults from you about how others have anger issues.

6.0 is one build...I'm pretty sure everyone else that has upgraded by now have already said that...if I take my "sprint" nexus 6 and put a t-mobile sim in...and I have 6.0 after it realizes, hey, I'm on t-mobile...wifi calling will pop up and t-mobile service will work...and before you try to say I'm wrong or t-mobile knows better...why did this work when I tried just that to help someone with the same issue

Yes, I know how to flash an image and/or a ROM, unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do what this conversation, other than I do not want to wipe my device Einstein. Do you know how to SSH into a RHEL Server across a minimally perforated firewall to change jre environments for global profile enabled Linux applications on let's say, an Apache Web Server LBP?
I know how Linux works. Android is child's play.
You are completely ignoring the fact that there is a reason that T-Mobile Nexus 6 devices have NOT been given the green light for Android 6.0.
Really, why do you think that is? If it were such a simple solution, then it wouldn't have been 2 months and no update. Clearly, there are some technical details, that are probably WAY above your intrinsic level of comprehension, that are delaying the release of this image.
If you are too dense to comprehend that, then continuing this conversation is futile.
If anyone has any insight or information as to the delay, feel free to let me know.
Thanks.

Brother, no offense, I'm not following you. The reason Wi-Fi calling pops up when you throw a T-Mobile SIM card into a Sprint phone, is because Wi-Fi calling is baked into Android 5.1.1.
Sorry, not sure what point you are trying to make. You do know that on the Google Developers Factory Images page, there are T-Mobile specific builds for the Nexus 6 right?
Even Verizon users, just started receiving 6.0 in this past week. The only other time this happened was with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and we all know what happened there. Exact same thing I am talking about. As a matter of fact, (will link to it later), we have already had an in-depth discussion about this on a different forum on this site. There are in fact different builds for different carriers.
The Universal build WILL work, no one is saying that it won't, but keep doing some research and you will see that many (and I mean many) users have reported incompatibility and/or broken functionality when flashing the Factory Images on their T-Mobile and also Verizon devices.
As far as what you are saying about a T-Mobile SIm card working in a Sprint Nexus 6. I don't think anyone is arguing that. We all know that to be the case, although I can guarantee you that if you put a Verizon SIM card into your Sprint/AT&T/T-Mobile Nexus 6, it will NOT work.
I know because I have Verizon service (for work), and I have tried. That is less about the phone being locked, and more about non Verizon IMEI's being blacklisted. My point is, that we know that the Nexus 6 is unlocked. That is not the question I am asking here.

Yup, VZW took their sweet ass time testing and distributing it too.
Yet check that developer image page... and where is the VZW MM image?
Just because the carrier has not pushed it as an OTA does not mean it's a different build, because M is unified. So even though it took until last week for VZW to push it to their phones.... It's the same unified build that has been out this whole time.

I have a non VZW phone btw, and on VZW with a VZW sim. It works fine. You need to do your reading on this one, lots of us don't have Verizon issued phones, its only ATT that is carrier locked.
Many people had issues getting VZW to activate their nexus 6, this was not technical as much as it was people bringing their phones to VZW and VZW declining. People also had issues not getting their discount for buying a phone outright, but from early launch you could stick a VZW sim into a nexus 6 and use it
