After a little bit of searching I managed to find exactly what I was looking for on-line in the uk.

This is an SD to microSD which is fully SDIO compatible as is the Touch Dual's MicroSD socket.
I bought one of these a while ago
for my old Ipaq PDA so I thought It would be an amusing test.
This is not some desperate attempt to get WiFi on my Touch Dual as I have a fine data contract, it is merely for research purposes.
What do you reckon? Worth £15?
i thing that for the moment if u really need wi-fi it is ok.
btw. can u pls post link where to buy it? thx balvi
http://linitx.com/viewproduct.php?prodid=11922
I'm just going to buy it because it's useful for digital camera pictures on the move.
I don't get where's the wi-fi ... that's a simple SD to MicroSD adapter. there's no wi-fi connection there
You have found a Picture from a Wifi Card and you doesnt found the Producer?
Look -> http://www.spectec.com.tw/sdw823.htm
if you want buy ... search via ebay ... if you found only sd and mini sd version ... ask the guy for a micro sd version!
but still the SDW-823 it not avalaible to buy at the moment.
but i still hope that wi-fi will be awailable on niki

You clearly didn't actually read my post.
I've bought this adapter for testing reasons and so I can transfer pictures from my digital camera on the move. I have a Spectec SD WiFi card which I bought 2 years ago for an old Ipaq.
Seeing as the unit is SDIO compatibe along with the Micro SD socket. I thought it would be worth a try trying to get WiFi with the adapter and the WiFi SD card.
Greenturtle, I would be really interested to know how you get along with that adapter.
I really want to get wifi working on the Nike so i can use it as a Wireless access point for my laptop (work laptop, so cant use phone as USB modem)- therefore want to use www.wmwifirouter.com
I have sent a few emails to Spectec about the SDW-823 - according to there tests it wont work with the Nike as they say it hasnt got SDIO - which is contrary to the spec's.
keep us updated please.
Well the item was dispatched this morning
It will be here tomorrow hopefully and I shall begin testing. The Internet does suggest the Touch Dual has SDIO though.
I shall also test whether the WiFi less Tornado has SDIO as well by means of an MicroSD to MiniSD adapter.
hi.
so how does it look? is it working?
thx
the micro sd wifi card is coming!
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=140798
no idea on prices though.
I think its a good idea. Wifi was the only thing holding be back from getting the Niki, and that eventually resulted in my getting the Cruise. I don't use WiFi the majority of the time as I have great 3G reception in NYC, but when I am travelling it is great to be able to use wifi so that I can Skype ppl back home w/o roaming fees.
Let us know how your experiment works! If you can do a smooth intergration underneath the battery cover or inside the casing somehow that would be awesome. Are SD/miniSD hubs available, so that you wouldn't have to lose the ability to use the Sd slot for storage while on wifi?
Hi Greenturtle, it the SD wifi card working on touch dual ? I am thinking to buy this as well.....
It says it should work on any 5.x and 6.x windows mobile devices.
So i guess we have to wait till it's released.
Any updates? Has anyone tested it? This would be awesome if it worked as I didn't think I would but I do miss WiFi now I have a Touch Dual

We just got our first batch of SD cameras for the XDA PocketPC phone and it sold out fast!
We will receive another batch before the end of the month, so you may want to order one today before those are gone too.
With this SD camera YOU DON'T NEED SDIO, so it works perfectly with the XDA. You can even record video!

any idea why?
other than that, its very nice!

I was almost considering ordering one of these, but the camera has no flash, which is the problem with a lot of the camera phones.
A friend pointed out if I were to spend $80 for it, I might as well put in a little bit more money and get a cheap digital camera.
Basic line is this. Camera phones are finally evolving and new ones come with a flash. To be honest, you REALLY need a flash with these things.
I just saw a tiny camera at Fry's that does video, 1MP stills, has flash, and a built-in display LCD. $90. Might as well just get that and swap the card into the XDA if you want to copy/send photos. This camera is too little for too much. It's too big to really be any particular space saver. Is it even safe to carry around in the device all the time (couldn't it release and fall out if bumped)?
i have one of these, paid £59 from ebay, but it doesnt lock into the sd slot. any advice on making it stay in or it will get lost.
Smallboy... why not try the bodger's favourite... a small wodge of "blue tac"! - this works for me for my tom-tom car cradle (along with a couple of screws at the bottom of the cradle)
Theoretically you could place the blue tac between the xda body and camera, which would give it some "grip" but yet easily removable.
not a bad idea m8, but i use the sd slot with a 256mb card for my navigator maps and mp3's
SD camera for XDA
Where can I buy it ? Datanywhere has teamed up with Expansys !

Great piece of kit aint tried it out but will sometime this week
it is a good peice of kit but i cant always be bothered to carry it around with me.

Is there an adapter for Memory stick to SD/MMC slot so I can use my memory stick to used with my MDA II?
Is there a product like this?(Memory Stick convert to SD/MMC slot)
Thanks!
Only if XDA II have a CF slot...then can use this sort of adapter... What do you think..?

Thanks for all your help mate... I guess we just need to wait and hope some manufacturer will come up with what we want.

Yes - I think they should design the upcoming XDA with mutiple memory slots (CF, SD, MMC, MS etc).. Good idea!
LOL... But that sucks if we need to wait for XDA/MDAIII to used different types of memory cards. It means we need to spent another thousand bucks(closed to) to have it.

well the backpack is not that expensive
of cause one can not always be sure that
using a converter like the backpack to get CF
to use a converter to get MS would work 100%
there will only be such a product as a ms to sd if there was a high enough demand for it
i doubt there is
is it not only sony who use ms ?
sd seem imho to become the std like CF was which is getting old and will prob be outfased in 2 years or something

I guess you're right CF will be faced out in a few years, SD might be the next standard BUT micro drive still using CF isn't it? So I guess there are still some debate on that huh!
I also read somewhere that mini-SD is also coming out soon. So I guess we'll just wait and see what happened in the few years.
Belive me - You don't want to have XDAIII with CF slot. Just look at Your precious XDA or XDAII close to Your face during a phone call and imagine it 20% biger and 50g havier. Even now it's way too big as a phone especially that summer is comming and I have totaly no idea how to carry it without all those winter clothes, deep ass hell pockets
Best idea I can imagine is USB port in host mode - I've got HDD 9mm (from laptop computer) in aluminium case connected via USB interface. Imagine U can have 40GB in another pocket to carry all those xxx movies LOL.

This thing can only be found at expansys webpages. Not even Samsung has it. So I wount give 2 much 2 it. Greetings Ottschke
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
Where I can find this item? I'm looking forward to buy it. Is there anyone who already has and working?
So what does this actually do?
What it does is allow you to put an SD card from your camera into one end and then connect the other end to the tab. This would allow you to move files back and forth, hence the name Camera Connection Kit.
BUT this product is vaporware because the tab is not a USB host. This thing will never exist and never did exist. It is something that the iPad has and perhaps a optimistic marketer either at Samsung or Expansys slapped a Samsung logo on a pic of the iPad dongle because they expected it to be released.
There are a few other solutions to getting pix from your camera to the tab, none are elegant and some are expensive.
1) Remove your MicroSD from your tab and insert it into a SD card adapter and then insert into your camera. This is cheap but is a pain and the microsd can get hosed if you do not carefully mount it and dismount it when reinserting or removing.
2) Root your tab, buy an Eye Fi X2 Pro card for your camera, install Android Tether for root users and use the card to wifi transfer to your tab, using Eye-Fi Server for Android OS or Fe-Fi or MoPhotos from the Android market
3) Root your phone, remove your microsd, use mobidapter (USB to microSD dongle) and then use root explorer to transfer pics to you internal SD card.
in other words, tab is not gadget to work with camera becaused of this connector issued

Honestly... you probably don't want to use your tablet for DSLR photos anyway.
Besides the fact that RAW images are large files (~20-30MB) and huge resolutions (18 Megapixel) that no tablet can adequately handle... there is no way to calibrate the screens or make or convert RAWs on a tablet.
I would use a point-and-shoot camera with a microSD card inside a SD adapter.
Tablets are supposed to be about putting small size and mobility foremost over wide functionality or productivity.
would the current usb kit for the 10.1 work on the p1000?

How does the viewsonic gtab have usb host on 2.2¿
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
Because Viewsonic customized the rom and added it in.
so it becomes a software problem?
i thought there are hacks to enable it on 2.2/2.3 too?
it was possible to inject 2.1 with host mode, many cheap tablets did it. However the p1000 is missing the host protocol on-chip so cannot do the required functions like power regulations etc. So tis more of a no hardware than a software problem.

my thoughts are the usb chip doesn't have ability to control unit to socket power, hence why anything that requires a fair number of volts wont work (memcard reader, mouse, thumbdrive etc)
And I have a few 2.1 tablets with USB host, and a 2.2 tablet with usb host (Scroll and some other weird make).
So not sure what is not correct here? If you have info that rebuts this please share?

I would very much like to be wrong on this, but all of my development and rough research along with the fact there are no volt dependent accessories for the tab7 lead me to conclude that it doesn't do it!
The reason I want to be wrong is that I have a few tabs here and want them to be the product of choice for a project I'm doing, the limiting factor is usb host, I would really want it for 2 hardware accessories, but I found only evidence that the chip that controls the in-socket and the onboard controller do not have ability to play with voltage to the socket thus can never accept any accessory that requires above the base voltage of the board.
Again I REALLY WANT TO BE WRONG here
Let me know if you have any info to say thats wrong please please please !

Hi everyone!
FareBot is an Android app that can read data from public transit RFID cards using the Nexus S' NFC radio. It currently supports Seattle's ORCA card but I hope to add support for other cards as well in the future. See my blog post with more information.
I just updated it to work with Android 2.3.3, so if you're looking for more things to do with your phone's NFC radio, check it out in the market!
The source code is at http://github.com/codebutler/farebot
if we can read, can we re write. It think free bus is coming in soon
At my office we use a rfid card to enter the building and such. How hard would it be to be able to make my phone work as my card? Can that even be done?

I've been thinking the same thing. We use Mifare Classic 1K cards. I actually have access to the card writer too. Surely its now possible to write the card to the device?
The NFC of the Nexus S can read my student card with a show "unknown tag type"^_^
Just funny to play with this~but it can't read out the Chinese Public Transportation Card~Maybe these two are just different~~
Anyway, NFC may still be a far-away toy here in China~But it's fun, really~

The chip in the Nexus S supports card emulation so this should be technically possible. It's something I'd like to look into, but I don't have any physical access control hardware.

so i dont get it what your saying is you can read the card to see your left over balance or are you saying i can pay with my phone?
I can read the balance left in the card, it's very convenient rather than going to the nearest subway or bus station only to find out out what's left in the card.
Can you please add feature to emulate the written card?
I want to see card emulation happen too, so

hey everyone! I've been looking to buy a nexus 7 but the lack of expandable memory is making it hard to justify buying and the fact that the biggest option is 16GB of internal storage (13GB available).
Now I'm still going to buy it just because i cant resist but does anyone think there is a way I could actually replace the internal SD card with my own larger one? i ask this because I have seen in a few phones that the internal storage is nothing more than a regular SD card.
anyways it would be great if anyone has any ideas or if you really think cloud storage is just fine let me know
Being totally unqualified to comment (but that has never stopped me),
you would be silly buying a Nexus 7 with the idea of replacing the internal SD card yourself.
Maybe a teardown will reveal a standard SD card socket - but I highly doubt it.
Sockets cost a lot more than a surface mount device, and you really don't want to go there. Even if you are able to replace the SD card, the boot rom is likely to have an idea as to the size and format of the SD - and you can't change that.

Not many people can answer your question now since not many have them. We will have to wait for IFixIt to break one down. There are stories on people replacing the sdcard chip with a larger one via soldering but we won't know for sure until someone opens one up.
At it's current infant stage, best storage option is to use an OTG cable & sdcard.
Also, need to wait to see if dev's are able to improve anything.
Can't comment on cloud storage because you need to tell us what type of user you are: gamer, video watcher, etc....
I'm a gamer & the best way for me to to backup Android folder & remove game files that I'm currently not playing. When I do play that game, I transfer back the game files to Android folder.
Basically you have to manage your storage space. Also need to factor in storage for nandroids.
I'll say 16gb is enough if you manage your space: backup files & transferring them back when needed, etc.
Transcend storejet cloud 64gb wireless ssd hard drive is $99.00 on amazon. Small enough for put in your pocket, 5-6 hrs battery. I can put link here, cause i'm newbie lol.
or
Kingston Wi-Drive: short battery, it's exspensive.
or
Maxell AirStash flash drive: good battery, but it's very exspensive.

Cloud only works for multimedia. It doesn't work for games/apps that take up space. Games (non-casual) can get pretty big. Ditto for some apps, eg Google Maps offline caching. One solution,
