I was trying to import phone book from ATT Tilt to Honda Accord Hands free link (that is built in Bluetooth that comes with car).
I just tried this software & it says the same error "The phonebook can't be sync. Pls. check the device"

“Unable to transfer Contacts. Make sure that the Bluetooth device is set to receive contacts”.

I have a Pioneer AvidD3 so I'm not sure exactly how hoda's system works... but with my system, i had to make sure it was in "phonebook transfer mode" before I could send my contcts; otherwise I got the same error.
hope this helps!

Success
I was able to import my entire Tilt phonebook into the Navi system on my MDX. From there, I can transfer any entry to the Handsfree link or just place the call from the Navi system.

Are your entries on your sim card (just the phone number) or in the main phonebook memory (can you see the whole contact info including address and multiple phone numbers)? The reason I ask is the impression I had is the contacts sent over could only be the simple kind with just the name and 1 number.
I hope you have the numbers in main phonebook memory as I would love to get this working in my TL.
Also, did you use the jetware software? If so, would you mind letting us know in detail what you did as I'm still unsucessful.

Doesn't SAPsettings do this? I have it on my vario III and the phonebook downloads to my car (VW bluetooth kit) OK.

SAP settings would only enable you to access phonebook enterys that are on the sim card. I want to be able to get the actual outlook contacts. Just wondering if that is possible.

Oh, well I have no contacts on my SIM and my car display shows all my outlook contacts. Maybe it's accessing them through a different route. It just worked out of the box for me.

I have a Verizon XV6800 and a Acura TL and I have been trying to figure this out also. I have tried using the Jetware program but didnt get any where with it.
Please, if you figure this out PM me or shot me a email at [email protected] and let me know how you did it.
Thanks

Hi
Did you use the jetware program? Did you some how set the nav on your MDX in some kind of "phonebook transfer mode"? If so what did you do on the Acura Nav to do this?
Thanks

I tried again today both with and without the Jetware bluetooth extension. Tried multiple settings... no luck. Everytime I press phonebook import, it says the currently linked phone does not support this function. Any one with any suggestions?
(I have the AT&T Tilt and a 2007 Acura TL with Nav)

Do you have SAPSettings in settings->system?
If not, maybe find a cab for it and give it a go. Sounds like you've hit a brick wall anyway.
Aside from that maybe it's a difference at the car end. Mine is a SEAT (don't think they're sold in the US but think VW) and works out of the box.

Any good Contact/Address Book program with memorized filtering function?

Sorry that I know it is a WM6's question. But I am a new Kasier user and would like to see any experienced user here who can give me a hand.
I have different catergories for separating my contacts. Namely Personal, Business, Region A, Region B, etc.
When I am at work, I want to set it to display Business contacts only.
When I get off from work, I want to display Personal contacts only.
When I travel to Region A, I want to set to display Region A contacts only.
I can do it by the factory filtering function. However, when I close the contact and open it again, it does not remember my last filtering setting. It will by default go back to "All Contacts".
Is there any 3rd party program (or actually the factory one can do) to remember the selected filter option?
Appreciate if anyone can help. Thanks in advance!
I am using Inesoft Address Book and it can remember the selected categories of contacts to display.
If you minimise rather than close the Contacts app, does the filter not remain active?
I am using PocketCM, see here for more info. I am sure that you can set custom filters in the settings.ini file.

That's strange. Inesoft works for me. It can even survive a soft reset lol, not only after closing Inesoft.
Pocket Informant
I've been using Pocket Informant for a few years now and find it very good. From memory it does remember filter categories, but you could download a trial version to double check that it does exactely what you want.
Prior to PI I was using Agendus on the Palm platform. That was excellent and has better navigation than PI I remember thinking when I changed over. However, Agendus wasn't available for Pocket PC at the time. It has been brought up to date and moved to Pocket PC so you may want to check that out at the same time as PI.

Are there any Standalone Answerphone Software's

Hi all,
due to the fact my provider has now started charging me for accessing voicemails and will not include voicemail access in my inclusive minutes I have turned off the voicemail answerphone on my t-Mobile MDA Vario III (Kaiser), what i'm looking for is a programto run on the PDA that will answer a call after say 45 seconds of ringing and act like an answerphone and record any messages direct to the PDA. I have searched for answerphone but without luck and the only program I can find via Google is iSecretary, but that aparantly isn't fully compatable with the Kaiser?. Has anybody got any ideas as to anything else available that will do this job, preferably free but if I have to pay for the ideal solution so be it.
Thanks

I'm afraid there is no solution, because of the limitations of the Kaiser (and many HTC devices) with the incoming sound.... (mic only)
A workaround should be available in iSecretary, recording loudspeaker -> mic, but this application crashed a lot on my Kaiser so removed it...
Also because it is not a nice solution anyway...everybody can 'enjoy' the voice message.

According to iSecretary the TYTNII is only "half supported" but it looks it would do everything you want.
- lifts the handset automatically when the preset time expires;
- plays the file to the caller;
- records your caller's message within the limits of preset time and hangs up;

I did try iSecretary and it worked on some of the calls, about 2 out of the 10 I made to my phone. And like "Optimistisch_nl" said: the callers voice is on loudspeaker while leaving the message. Also the message that I recorded to tell people to leave a message doesn't play either for the caller.

You won't find a solution unless you buy e.g. a Nokia.....
Guys, ALWAYS check out the Wiki first. I've answered this very question at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...nswering machine for Windows Mobile released!
(also see the group http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Audio and call recording, answering machines )
In a word: no, don't expect much - WinMo is, by default, pretty much useless when it comes to local (!!) nswering machines. Should you really need them, go for Symbian.

I was also told that file sharing on WM is not possible by "CLEVER" people, but hypest told me that by setting up a ftp server on the ppc you could share folders that would be visible and able to be browsed by another ppc. Now if that is not "file sharing" then lets call it "sharing files". It works just the same as normal file sharing on Windows.

Anyway to change the voice that reads sms outloud?

You know the lady voice that announces when the battery is almost dead, when you get a text message and reads it to you and all the other stuff...is there any way to change that text to speech voice to a different female voice? I know there are several other voices that are available but not sure how it would be changed on wm 6.1
First off, what app is doing that for you?
huh???!!

Come on now, of course I know what freakin' phone I'm using. That's like asking someone if they know what kind of car they drive and if they are sure about it.
Here's what you do to enable it:
Settings>Voice Command>
Check 'Enabled'
Check 'Messaging', 'Status' & 'Phone' boxes
The go to 'Notifications' and check 'Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only'
[/LIST]
Those directions above will read out loud the person calling you when you get a call, the person who sent you a SMS and what the SMS says, will read to you any email including the sender and subject line, but not the email and will also notify you when your battery is gonna die.
Trust me, it's a major attention-getter when your phone reads a text message to you when it comes in and people around you are like wtf was that. Plus it's great if you are lying in bed or something and your phone is across the room...you can hear what the message says and whether or not it's worth getting out of bed for. :-D
But anyway, if anyone knows how to change the voice please respond. Thanks!
Voice Command isn't installed on all Diamonds as standard and as I stated, there is no way to change the voices, I have searched for this myself before with no luck.
cool!

nice one!
pretty sure you cant change the voice but i know there's a registry tweak to slow the voice down witch makes it easier to understand. I've just remembered I'm sure there's the tweak in Advance config hope this helps
yeah i have this enabled on my phone and its the best when your laying in bed and wonder if its worth looking at. I do wish it was a more sexier voice like sigourney weaver from planet earth, and a little slower would be nice. IT came stock on my sprint diamond fyi, im surprised other versions dont have it
I have a sprint diamond and mines only talks when someone sends me a text message marked urgent and thats it. I have all the tabs checked on VC in the settings menu. am I missing somthing?

You don't have it setup correctly, that's why.
Go into Voice Command and do this:
- Check all the boxes you want to use this service. (Phone, Messaging, Status, Etc.)
- Highlight 'Messaging' then click on 'Options' button then UNCHECK 'High Priority Messages Only' and CHECK 'Announce New Messages'. Do the same steps for others like 'Phone' and 'Status' to change it's options. Make sure you highlight it first.

Which Anti theft programme?

Can you guys recommend a theft alert style prog for the X1.
So far i have heard of
Ultimate Theft Alert v3
MASPware GuardMobile
Where Is My Phone
Smart Protect
What's the best, what are the things to look for?
Thanks
thanks for posting..i was also looking for a programme..the phone costs as much as my laptop..and if i lose it i am gonna regret it.

Send SMS with a predefine code to the lost/stolen phone or your family member that have SmartphoneTracker installed.

If someone steals my phone, the first thing he would do is to switch it off and exchange the sim card. So how should I send a SMS to the phone to wake up the program when my SIM-card with my phone number isn't in the phone anymore?
Such a Anti-Theft-Program need to send the location to a predefined Mail-Account when the SIM-Card has been changed. The program has to recognize that the SIM isn't the same and then start itself on Windows startup as soon as possible so that it cannot be closed before it can send the mail.
Anything else makes such a program useless in my opinion.

Notify on sim change... It's in the settings.
This means your phone with the new simcard will send a sms or email to a predefined number (not your own number but maybe your brothers phone or someone else you can trust) as soon as it detects a new sim inserted. voila and you have the thiefs phonenumber.
I have tested the feature and it works very well...

You do that. I think you'll like it.
I'm using MASPware GuardMobile, works fine and a lot of options. Smart proctect seems very good to me too, and it's free. Maybe I'll give it a try after a hard reset
i am searching a antitheft program, that is invisible implemented/implementable
into the ROM (completely configured).
for hardreset resistance. a spezial version of hardspl could be a good way.
so the theft protection is resistand for firmwareupdates by the theft.
hardspl once installed, could give out a unique secret key.
without this key no hardspl remove/update is possible. and the protection is not easy removable.hardspl handles all flash requests and without key....
only with commands to read/write directly to FLASH, the last chance to remove it.
and thats not easy for NOOB´s
what are your settings for Smartphone Tracker? i installed it an replaced the simcard but until now i havent received an email oder sms. it doesnt seem to work on the xperia? anyone has ideas?

1. you must have a working email account installed into the xperia.
This account (marked with a red box) will be used for sending the stealth-mail to your destination account.
2. The destination account should not be installed on the phone as the thief would also get the stealth-mail.
3. Setup your options in the settings view (see attached pictures)
4. press Send now in the menu if you want to tryout your settings.
It's recommended to have satellite sync while testing this.
5. Save changes and exit the application.
I'm having some trouble with smartphone tracker on my X1. When I send an sms containing my passphrase the X1 phone displays the text as a new unread message. Also the phone doesn't send any mail to my configured receiver. And yes, I've chosen a working mail account, it works when pressing "send now..." from within smartphone tracker.
Also the incoming text message displays as a new unread message, it's not suppose to do that right?
I get the feeling that Smartphone tracker doesn't catch incoming text messages. What's your experiences?

Great!! Finally an APP for bluetooth file transfer!!
Anyone got an idea if it may become available for NON-rooted HTC magic phones??
I don't really fancy rooting becuase it will void my warranty
Thanks
I just got my HTC Magic. I cant BELIEVE that it doesnt support obex!!! Very very dissapointed
BTW i cant find the bluetooth file app on the market.. i even tried scanning the 2D barcode. But when entering the url in browser it still says "not found" in mark..
I need this app badly. A phone without bluetooth file receive/send ability is useless!!

Could it have something to do with your network operator? Where in the world are you? It may be worth turning on ' allow unknown sources' to see if that helps.
Version 1.0.3 can SEND files without root acces recieving still needs root.
Tested on my non-rooted magic and it works we're getting there!
Fantastic!! Can't wait until we don't have to root!!

Anyone else think it would be better if it was free
Bluetooth is so painfully slow. I haven't received my Magic yet, so I didn't try this, it's a theory.
If you usually send files back and forth from one or two computers you could just setup a FTP server. It's really easy with the FileZilla server. You could then use Wi-fi to send files. Maybe there is a good ftp client for Android, I'm not sure.
Of course if you need to send between phones all the time you're out of luck for the time being.

Could it have something to do with your network operator? Where in the world are you? It may be worth turning on ' allow unknown sources' to see if that helps.

Root
Hello.
I´m new in Android and in this forum.
I´ve bought "Bluex" (BlueTooth Fileshare) and I can receive photos but I cant send any file.
Where can I find a tutorial about how to be root in my HTC Magic to perform send an image through bluetooth?
I think that there should be a topic about that but I don´t find it.
thx.
