New appointments and contacts from PPC will sync to Outlook but NOT vice versa.
Contact updates made in Outlook ARE NOT updated in PPC
Appointments changes work instantly both ways
Does anyone experienced the same behavior?
I really don't like the Active Sync in XP. Is the device management better in Vista?
Just to add... when I tried to sync in the first time I got about 60% of contacts.
Since then I was not able to get into PPC any. I deleted all contacts and appointments to find out what it really does.
(E.g. updating categories and notes...)
Update
Here is the "solution".
Export the existing contacts to csv file with first and last name only and omit everything else.
Make a copy of current contact folder.
Delete all contacts in the default contact folder
Import the trimmed version from csv file. These contacts will become somehow noteworthy for sync now. (Don't ask me why).
Now clear out all notes in back up contacts (sorry no other choice) and update other fields in this occasion as well with correctly structured data (country codes, address fields etc. this is the time to do that once for good)
Move the cleared contacts from backup folder to default once and update all contacts at once.
Delete all your contacts on your device and restart it.
Plug it in for synch
Now you should be able to see the contacts.
If you don't then what works for me is to move the outlook contact to other than default folder. Delete it from default folder and create new contact on the device.
Sync and update newly created contact in default Outlook folder either by hand or moving in from backup location.
Still notes from Outlook are not updated to device
At least all other info seems to sync both ways.
I still have to find out the caveat of syncing categories and pictures.
If you already found out let me know.
Good luck!
Strong nerves
Hi, there,
Since i upgraded from t-mobile's original WM6.0 to WM6.1, my ActiveSync 4.5.0 (build 5096, Date Published: 2/13/2007) can no longer sync properly with a second PC for Outlook PIM (contacts and calendar), and gives the error message "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the desktop. Support code: 86000107). It has no problem with the first PC (whichever is sync'ed first), only when sync'ing with the second one.
i'm also sync'ing with an exchange server on both PCs, and no problem there. i've also tried to set up the exchange sync on the phone (as well as on each of the PCs initially), the local PIM sync problem still persists.
I've tried all versions of Dutty's 6.1 ROM and many radios. I'm currently on Dutty's 19199 Lite and NIKI Radio's 1.58.16.27 (seems to be the best combination for me, TomTom nearly as good as WM6.0 + good phone reception, although a bit power hungry and adding speed camera warning to the map noticeably slows TomTom 6.032 build 8351).
i suspect that this is not a problem to do with the cooked ROM or radio, but something to do with Microsoft - perhaps compatibility between WM6.1 and ActiveSync 4.5 that is not fully tested yet?
Is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem? I've tried all search, but no luck.
any fix would be appreciated.
Do you try other WM6.1 cooked ROM(s) from Schaps, Sleuth, Alex, Kyphur and many more?
i tried Schaps, Sleuth, Alex before, as well as Vodafone's original (cannot remember though if this one was OK)
I've just flashed Dutty's WM6.1 Lite (released on Mar 08) few minutes ago and I did have the same error 86000107. It can be synced with either the 1st or the 2nd PC w/o error but not both. Whenever I fix the one then I have a trouble on the other.
I just did a quick search for error 86000107 and a few people solve the problem by doing this:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
The problem appears to recur when tasks are selected for syncing. I haven't had this problem myself but have had something similar with syncing notes which I've resolved in a similar manner.
Hope this helps.
ach2, clever that, search for the error code! i tried search for all sync probs...
anyhow, i do not sync Tasks, nor Notes. I believe i tried what was suggested above before, in desperation.
shall try again tonight on the home machine. cheers.
You can this:
1 Changed registry HKLM/System/Version from .dutty to .4.0.2
2 renamed Device Name
3 deleted partnerships in PC and PPC (I had 2 of them, do not know how I got 2nd one)

There are also a lot of discussion on the Artemis Forum re this.
Thanks

cheers, Dave. did try all sorts of deleting partnerships (inc renaming device name), but shall try the registry tweak tonight...
why .4.0.2 though? hec, well, if that works, then it works and is worth a try.
shall report back.

Not my fix mate.
Have to ask taiseer.
Dave
I fixed it by opening new PST file and importing the old one. If it'll not help try to sync under brand new profile in Windows. This helped me...
How I resolved the 86000107 code error
I had this problem also, it occurred with all 6.1 ROMs I tried, did not occur when I went back to 6.0 ROMs. But I was able to fix it in 6.1 ROMs by opening a new .pst file on the second computer and then syncing the files with this new .pst file. I can now go back and forth between the two computers without problem and the error does not recur. I have not tried to reload the old .pst file or its backup from computer 2.
BTW the fix mentioned where you uncheck different information types, sync and then recheck them and sync did not work for me after the first successful sync.
Hope this helps!
sadkosk/safe as milk:
cheers. shall try.
have to admit that i also sync the .pst files at the 2 locations, using Briefcase.
I'm using last Ranju ROM. And this method helped me.
Code:
Uncheck all items in activsync then connect / sync.
Check and re-sync the items 1 at a time.
Interesting...

Very interesting! I believe i did this before, but now I've re-investigated again. Still not fully working for me, but this works if i sync two, not all three, of the following:
1. push email sync with exchange server (PDA overwrites server if conflict)
2. contacts sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict)
3. calendar sync with home PC (PC overwrites PDA if conflict).
NOW EVEN MORE INTERESTING!
------------------------------
Do #1 and 3 first, then no problem adding #2!!! All other combinations will cause a problem how can one explain that?!
Now the only ultimate test left is to see if this still works at work tomorrow...
Sometimes this occurs due to a bad or corrupt item in the calendar, email or other outlook item.
Sometimes it helps to export the whole PIm (Calendar, EMail, Tasks, notes, contacts, etc) and re-import them and sometimes you need to run the outlook repair pst file utility. I know a lot of people will not believe this, but it truly works if you are having sync issues.
If you are using only Exchange sync, you may have to export your data into a PST File.
Inbox Repair tool
If you can't open your Personal Folders file (.pst) or your Offline Folder file (.ost), or you suspect that your .pst or .ost data file is corrupted, you can use the Inbox Repair tool (Scanpst.exe) to diagnose and repair errors in the file. The Inbox Repair tool scans only the .pst or .ost file, not your mailbox on the server running Microsoft Exchange. The tool determines whether the file structure is intact. If it is not intact, the Inbox Repair tool resets your file structure and rebuilds the headers.
The Inbox Repair tool works on both the Microsoft Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.pst) and the Office Outlook Personal Folders File (.pst) data files in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. It is located at:
drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
Repair errors by using Scanpst.exe
Exit Outlook if it is running.
Double-click Scanpst.exe, located at drive:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12.
In the Enter the name of the file you want to scan box, enter the name of the .pst or .ost file that you want to check, or click Browse to search for the file.
To specify the scan log options, click Options, and then click the option that you want.
Click Start.
If errors are found after the scan is complete, you will be prompted to start the repair process to fix the errors.
A backup file is created during the repair process. To change the default name or location of this backup file, in the Enter name of backup file box, enter a new name, or click Browse to look for the file that you want to use.
Click Repair.
Start Outlook by using the profile that contains the .pst file that you tried to repair.
On the Go menu, click Folder List. In the Folder List, you may see a folder named Recovered Personal Folders that contains your default Outlook folders or a Lost and Found folder. The recovered folders are usually empty, because this is a rebuilt .pst file. The Lost and Found folder contains the folders and items recovered by the Inbox Repair tool. Items that are missing from the Lost and Found folder cannot be repaired.
If you see a Recovered Personal Folders folder, you can create a new .pst file, and drag the items in the Lost and Found folder into the new .pst file. When you have finished moving all the items, you can remove the Recovered Personal Folders (.pst) file, including the Lost and Found folder, from your profile.
Notes
If you are able to open the original .pst file, you may be able to recover additional items from your damaged .pst file. By default, the Inbox Repair tool creates a file called file name.bak, which is a copy of the original .pst file with a different extension. The .bak file is located in the same folder as your original .pst file. You may be able to recover items from the .bak file that the Inbox Repair tool could not recover. Make a copy of the .bak file, and give the file a new name with a .pst extension, such as bak.pst. Import the bak.pst file, and then move any additional recovered items to the new .pst file that you created.
A copy of the log file is written to the same location as the .pst file.
I think is wm6.1 not fully compatible on now WMDC or AS.
Try many wm6.1 here.
Similar problem on Vista WMDC, after u sync with 2nd computer, than sync back on 1st computer, it say error on sync.
After I del 2 partnership on both computer, no any problem on both PC sync independently.
eagle 1:
i suspect what you said is correct.
i think i've sorted the problem by re-building a new .pst. when i ran the scan, no problem was found on this newly built pst, but when i ran it on the old one, it reported that there were some minor errors found.
so i guess either the scan or a new build will correct the sync problem. what left now is to test it syncing on my office PC tomorrow.
many thanks for the tip.
sadly, i have to say, none of the above work for me after back and forth a few times (home->office->home).
guess it's something to do with my old outlook (2002)?
Sadly that you waste your time trying to fix this. I posted the result on post #4.
BTW, nothing wrong w/ Outlook 2002, either. I could duplicated your issue while running 2003 and 2007.

so you're going to live with it, then.........
OK, this just started for me. Yesterday, after entering a couple of appointments into my Tilt, I was able to sync to a MS Exchange Server wirelessly everything EXCEPT those 2 appointments. Mail/contacts work fine. Just not new appointments. However, I can enter them directly into Outlook 2003 and they sync back to the Tilt. No new appointment, re-occurring or not, with or without notes/reminders/attachments syncs. they are reflected on the Tilt, just won't sync. When connected via USB, I get the no help "Support Code 1" error.
My ROM/Radio/Hard SPL info is in my signature. Win XP (I don't know what service pack the server is, but no changes that have occured that coincide), Active Sync is 4.5.0. Death V.4 does have Thumbcal installed by default which, in an effort to resolve, switched to the standard calendar program. I also (in no particular order):
1. ran scanpst.exe on PC
2. ran detect and repair in Outlook
3. did Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\ole32.dll
4. deleted and reconfigured relationship in Activesync
5. changed the durations of the past appointments AND
6. searched to no end XDA and the net for a solution.
Any assistance would be appreciated. TIA!!
-Sign into OWA check if all is ok.
-On your desktop, do the same in outlook
-Create a test appointment with notes on OWA and see if it sync with your desktop calendar.
*If it sync you're good and you may have to contact your exchange host to see if there's been any changes in your exchange setup settings for your device.
*If the sync fails, create a new outlook profile on your desktop. It's a possibilty you profile is corrupt. Any part of outlook can be corrupt and not effect outlook as a whole. In your case, your calendar isn't functioning properly.
-Also...if you had your exchange account for a while, check the personal folder file size. It can hold up to 1.96 gb but at around 1.75, 1.8 gb ... outlook may do some weird things. If this is the case, you need to start archiving.
Hope this helps.
My background on topic:
I used to do tech support for Honeywell where 80% were exchange email related. Most of the users used Blackberrys and a handfull of windows mobile users. I provided telephone & remote support with Landesk & Remote Desktop.
Thanks! I will check in the morning. After posting this I noticed that one of my PST was well into 2 gigs. I am in the process of moving stuff around and hopefully can get it to be a more reasonable size. Lots of rules to adjust. . . .

OK, no luck. Entered an appointment with note in OWA, which synced fine with desktop. Adjusted pst size down to 1 gig, deleted and created a new profile in Outlook. Hard reset Tilt, contacted IT at work and no changes to Exchange Server. IT said contact ATT to see if it is something on their end, but I don't see how that could be.
This is a disaster for me.
I really need to have this working.
edit: One more interesting facet: if I just sync the calendars via USB (i.e. deselect MS Exchange and select "this PC"), syncing occurs. This is entirely related to the wireless component of syncing the calendar. Weird . . .
edit 2: well, flahed Duttys Hybrid, and all was good. Reflashed Death V4 and problem returned. Switched over to L26 KaiserDiamond V9 and problem resolved. NO FRIGGIN IDEA WHY. Thanks DWNY for the help, though. I suspect that my Exchange Server has something against Shogunmark.

Glad I could help ... somewhat.
What ever you do, do not upgrade to IE8 especially if you update your calendar with OWA. The new appointment will show up in your calendar but if you've created notes .... the won't sync to your phone.
Other browsers will show OWA in basic mode with only text entries, no HTML support.
Just a tid bit to share .....
ROMeOS 3.1 has worked great for me.
I'm a heavy Outlook user myself. These days I run my own IT Sub-Contracting company and do all my scheduling via OWA.

Anybody? would love some help!
Not sure if anyone is still having this issue, but the fix for Calendar items created on device not syncing up to Exchange (but sync no problem from Exchange to device), do the following:
1. Go to Start/Settings/Clock & Alarm
2. Change your Time Zone to another zone, and OK.
3. Go into ActiveSync on device, and sync with exchange
4. Go back to Clock & Alarm and change your time zone back to appropriate time zone
5. sync with ActiveSync again.
Problem should be resolved. Has worked for me many of times.
Thanks!
Hi to everybody.
This is my first post to this awesome forum. Without this forum and / or community, I think my HTC Diamond would be in the bin somewhere... but as we have this wonderful thing here I use it and with great feeling.
So my huge respect to everybody who have contributed their knowledge to public use.
BUT - as always when messing around with tweaks and firmware etc.. some bugs will occure.
at the momnet i have slight problem with reminders. I have surfed around net and this forum to find answer but no result so far.
many of the Diamond users have a problem, when reminder sounds dissapear whtn switching profiles. this is not the case at the moment.
when I create new appointment in my phone - i will get proper reminder sound with popup window describing event.
when appointment was created in Outlook and transfered to the phone via sync, I have no reminder sound, no popup window. only when I turn my phone screen active i can se open calendar - wich indicates that I have appointment coming.
when I edit this appointment (created in Outlook) in my phone, example - setting a new reminder time, there is no change in behaviour. still I get opened calendar and no reminder sound or popup calendar.
At the same time reminder in my Outlook in PC work just fine.
Im using Second today and SPB Diary for calendar app.
P.S. tried also omnisoft reminder fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1272677
Any Ideas people?

check in outlook
i had this problem - with a silly solution. i checked my outlook calendar entry, and there i did not set reminder. if you are getting appointment from outlook, make sure you have set a reminder in outlook (like 15 mins before or 30 mins before). it will then work fine.
hope this solves.
gl!
thanks for the reply, unfortunately no help.
just created two apointments with different times.
Appointment A - created in outlook
Appointment B - created in phone.
synchronized.
Both appointments (A and B) show reminder (5 min) in outlook and in phone.
When reminder time occures:
Appointment A - no sound, When swiching phone screen on - calendar is open on screen.
Appointment B - reminder works just fine.
I had another test with Tasks:
created two taks and synced with outlook.
Task created in Outlook - Outlook reminder ok. Phone reminder ok.
Task created in Phone - Outlook reminder ok. Phone reminder ok.
so with tasks its good.

Windows XP SP3
MS outlook 07 SP1
Hi again,
Now I decided to try maybe something went wrong with installations and reinstalled everything again in my phone starting from Hard SPL. Cleared and formatted Storage. Still the same problem.
Although there is another isssue that might be connected with this mess.
BTW - Im using Funambol client (tried different versions) to sync calendar with outlook. I have done this a long time now and never before had this kind of reminder problems.
The issue Im talking about is - there is no way I can sync calendar or tasks with MS ActiveSync. It just freezes on "looking of changes". Other things sync fine - contacts and rest of the data in different programs (MS money, SPB wallet etc...). Reinstalled Activesync on PC, compacted outlook file, restored calendar from server. Calendar sync with cable still hangs, with Funambol the outlook syncs like a charm.
Today after installing everything, I tried the calendar sync after each component installation no luck. Even tried change data type when syncing (vCalendar, SIF).
Would the next step is to try different ROMs?
I would suggest that the next step is to reinstall outlook on your pc. Or, as a minimum, start again with a brand new outlook pst file and try to get activesync working. If you get it working you can then copy your data from the old file to the new one.
did following:
uninstalled A.Z.T.O.R ROM and installed XBMOD v2.00 instead, additionally XBMOD manila 1.8.1. fix.
now Active sync works fine. Even calendar with reminders. This is for cable sync.
Funambol site is having some maintenance, so I canĀ“t test it for now. when its up again, I will post result here.
so I believe I narrowed it down:
IT MUST BE FUNAMBOL ISSUE.
as I reinstalled everything that can be installed and tried lot of different possibilities I concluded that is must be funambol that messes things up:
1. change of ROM doesnt help
2. change of Manila doesnt help
3. using standard or modified Roms makes no differents
4. reminders synced with Active Sync via Cable works fine on both: PC and Phone
5. reminder for Tasks synced via funambol works fine
6. calendar reminder created in Phone, synced to outlook via funambol works fine on both: PC and Phone.
7. calendar reminder created in outlook and synced to phone via funambol doesn't work - only calendar pops open when there is reminder time.
8. when syncing, tried SIF and vCard. no difference.
And this is too bad. I was so happy with funambol.
I have several questions about the syncing of windows mobile.
1) Is there a way to delete a syncing connection or a syncing item(contact/calendar/etc) from a desktop without having it delete the corresponding contacts/appointments off the device?
2) Can the "owner/origin/creator" of an item on the device be changed to the device (ie created from the device)?
3) Is there a program (free preferably) for WM that lists out all the appointments on the device? There are some syncing issues with mine, and I can't resolve it, because I can't find it on my device.
4) Recently, due to some odd syncing issues, all my appointments got shifted a day earlier!! Anyone had this issue before?
5) On a contact, if I add in a birthday in outlook, I see an appointment reminder for it, is that a separate appointment? or is it linked to the contact? Does the same thing happen if I add birthday on my device?
Thanks!
