I wanted to see if anyone had some insight on which rom would be best used for my XV6600. I currently dont use it for a phone anymore and it is just used in my car for GPS (Tom Tom) and ocassional music through bluetooth to my stereo. I know newer versions of Windows mobile do not work with my phone, but I was wondering what the best upgrade would be for my current model. I am looking for something that would be easy to navigate without the use of a stylus since I use it only in my car. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you answered your question.
The only ROM you are going to find for that phone are ones that the carriers have released, and if they haven't released anything newer that what you have on your phone, that is your only option.
Yeah, I came to the sad realization yesterday... But I am trying to make the most out of what I have /w registry tweaks and will probably use SPB Pocket Plus and Time to configure the interface for easy access. If anyone else has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks.

Hi,
I have had Blue Angel now for a couple of months. Im very happy with it as a PDA but unsatisfied with the phone part of it. For this reason I have decided to continue using the device; but only as a PDA.
I currently have the radio turned off (flight mode) and Im enjoying the benefits of extended battery life. Since I don't plan on using the phone feature in the near future, I would like to completely remove all the phone setting, to the point where the device doesn't even know that is can be a phone- no phone application, no GPRS settings, etc.
Is it possible to install a version of the non phone edition of WM2003 on a Blue Angel? Or, perhaps there are some registry changes that can cripple the phone edition.
I do plan to re-evaluate the BA as a phone if/when a version of WM5 becomes available. So- not all hope is lost.
Thanks;
-Robert
Sorry, I don't have the answer to your question, but I am curious:
Why don't you like the phone part of it?
I'm not criticising, everyone to themselves, just wondering really! And do you use a Bluetooth headset? I'm not sure I'd be so keen on mine if I didn't have one.
Hi,
I can understand, the phone part and bluetooth part are not great.
Even the Wifi quality is not great.
I am thinking of selling and go back to a Nokia 6310 and perhaps a pda.
I think products like this will be the future, but the quality must be better.
Or kill windows and use linux ;-)

Considering the G1 doesn't have a standard 2.5 or 3.5mm jack for line out, stereo bluetooth was the only other option. who wants to use a retarded adapter on your headset??
Is there any way to add support for this later? It has to be a software fix, as WM didn't have Stereo Bluetooth until WM6. Any ideas?
You're about a month late discovering this one
I've heard that the Google devs are working on a new bluetooth stack that may support A2DP. I've been poring over so many forums lately, I couldn't begin to tell you exactly where. But even review sites say "...bluetooth (A2DP to come later)." When is anybody's guess.
"supposedly" there will be an update the same day it releases to add in A2DP support...
yeah ive heard of 2 updates after release or on release one major and the other not......but again who knows

I hope the other update is video recording...
Oh well, this is STILL the best device T-Mobile has released since the HTC Wizard (aka T-Mobile MDA). And maybe add Outlook support w/ Activesync and Exchange. Well, that might take awhile but someother software might work just as well. Either way,
Does anyone know if word, excel, and powerpoint will work in some kind of fashion?

G1 Bluetooth
I've asked in various stores and got different answers, so I'm hoping someone with a G1 can give me a definitive answer.
Will the G1 allow another device to access the internet over bluetooth??
Specifically I make a lot of use of my TomTom sat nav during the day, and I rely on it getting traffic updates over the web by bluetooth with my phone. Before I buy a G1 will this still work?
TIA
Dave
maybe?
For now no. maybe some one will develop
Poo, that means I have to still carry a PDA and a phone, I was hoping I could put both together by getting a G1.
You can get GPS Maps and Web access through your G1, so you wont need your TomTom. However, it wont be as detailed or have voice.

YET!!! LOL
The hardware is there, but the software isn't finished yet. Right now the only thing Bluetooth can do in Android is connect to a hands-free headset. As I understand, Google is still working on the Bluetooth API and the other profiles will be enabled in a future software update.
Personally, I'm waiting for A2DP. Not a whole lot of point in loading a phone with music if it doesn't work with my headphones.

We use our PDAs alongside our TomToms in vehicles, and to be honest I quite like having them seperate for various reasons.
I'll just have to wait for bluetooth internet then maybe reconsider my position.

I agree I like having separate devices. I don't like combining too many things into one object because you can't use them at the same time. I have a TomTom, a MP3/video player, and the G1 now... But I like the fact that when the TomTom is not up to date I can switch to the G1... and if I find myself without my MP3 player I can just use my G1. I like having the option but I don't use it on a daily basis.
TomTom traffic
I understand your concern as I have a similar problem. I have the Vario II and I have had a lot of trouble with it (WM6.1) connecting to the Tomtom traffic server. My case may be complicated by the fact that I ride (tomtom rider) and I cannot get the phone to fix things in the middle of the ride The problem started when Micro$oft changed DUP bluetooth connection and everything gets messed up. I was considering the android G1 as long as I can get the traffic service that I paid but I cannot use. And just to clarify, I do have a single tomtom unit which does the GPS and all the things. The phone is only to provide connection to the tomtom plus service.
I hope that comes soon.
flashing blue led for enabled bluetooth?
is there one? mine doesnt, yours?
Mine blinks when bluetooth is active... not sure if it's only when a device is connected or not but that would be nice to only see it when devices are connected.
Hi Everyone...
I have had mt HTC 8925 (AT&T Tilt Branded) for well over a year... I use this phone daily and love it... I have never flashed a new rom to it since I flashed the most updated at the time AT&T stock rom that was out the day I got it... It is still running on WM 6.0 and is great for the most part... Only real modification was I did the reset trick to advoid the bloatware... After trying MANY programs, some I liked & kept... others I removed... I have finally run into a snag where I am willing to flash and start over to fix the issue (my tomtom traffic won't update anymore, and after much trouble shooting, TomTom and myself think I need to "Reset the Tilt to factory settings" or flash it to a new rom... I was hoping to get some advice from you guys to which rom should suite me best... Here are some details..
The phone is unlocked, and I use Einstein Wireless for service... so I do not need AT&T or Tmobile settings on there, and I prefer no hidden proxies or anything... I will manually enter my carriers internet and mms settings..
I use a lot of WiFi as my providors internet service is slower than I would like
I use it as a GPS (with TomTom) almost daily...
I installed the HTC Home Plugin and love it with the weather updates.. would like to have that incorperated with whatever rom
The radio version on stock rom works great for me.. so something when paired to do simmilar settings on that ?
I use the S2P, S2V2, and S2V .... So I can install those or if any rom has them in it...
I have a good sized micro SD (8gb at the moment) so I tend to install jsut about everything onto the SD card.. maybe a rom where that is the defautl location or something ?
I use MS Voice Command daily...
I play games on it regularly.. love works, ka-blom, pac man, emulators, and others...
I use wireless BT2.0 stereo headphones for MP3's and such
I stream music and video from my home computer using orb
I have used IE Mobile, Skyfire, and other browsers.. I jsut want one that works well...
I love an iContact (or type) contact program
As you probalyl guessed, I like it to be as finger friendly in general as possible...
I have used a few programs so I can use the phone as a webcam when connected via USB to my computer, woudl be great if it has that built in as well
MMS/SMS managing software would be great.. I usually keep recent txt's for a while after receiving them... something that say only keep them til you have a certain amount or after a certian amount of time passes would be great....
Of course, I would also like the rom to be very stable as well if that isn;t too much to ask..
I am open to trying to some programs/features that I have not used before... and I don't expect any rom to do everything I have listed above... The main thing will be to get one that I can set up the internet easy enough without having to worry about hidden settigns for AT&T or other such carrier... If you have been using a rom that you really liked that you think would work for me, let me know... Thank you in advance for reading this and sending me you suggestions....

So let me get this right.... You have a standard Tilt, minus the bloatware which you're happy with (and have been) until TomTom stopped working with traffic updates. You're now considering changing the ROM to fix the problem Why not just hard reset after backing up your stuff and do the bloatware free reset trick again? Oh and mods don't like 'ROM Recommendation' type threads (read some of the sticky posts to see why) so if people post saying ROM x is better than y, this thread will probably be locked to stop any arguments breaking out. Also TomTom will be less likely to offer support with cooked ROMs - I was told they wouldn't even support a HTC Default WM 6.1 ROM, only the WM 6.0 ROM the device (and TomTom) came with (one of the reasons why I had my device reverted to WM 6.0). Good luck with your hard reset
+1 on the real issue being Tom Tom traffic, as you seem pretty happy with use and your exisiting configuration. I'd try to find a WiFi hotspot (where Tom Tom can also see satellites) and see if Traffic will update via WiFi. Could be Einstein is blocking Tom Tom traffic over GPRS.
still new to the kaiser/tilt/tytn II, etc(less than a week) so not in a position to really give any real advice, but what helped me in my decision is reading through PureSkillz reviews of the roms and seaching with google outside of xda to see what people are using and that helped me with my decision, T-mobile sux in about every way, so if it is good on T-mobile it'll probably be good on anything else. What I had a hard time on is choosing the right radio for my device but luckily the rom i chose allowed me to use whatever radio i wanted and I am happy with my setup and don't plan to change unless something radical happens in the scene. I am running Tomtom 7 on my rom and it works perfect, but i dont have internet via my provider cause they charge way too much so i use wifi. the one thing i don't like about this rom is lack of landscape support but hey, cant complain if i'm not smart enough to cook my own stuff.
see my choice in my sig below. Aloha
Thanks... It isnl;t an einstein blocking issue.. I already tried the WiFi... The problem started right after I installed igo GPS program to compair the 2... I have since uninstalled igo, but tomtom still wont; connect to traffic.. I talked ot them at tomtom.. they were very frienmdly with troubleshooting.. went htough a million steps.. even gave me an additional free year of traffic as well for the problem, even though it isn;t their fault...
Thank you... I read that... and thought I woudl advoid those "argument" because I wasn;t trying to ask "What is the best rom"... I was trying to ask what rom would work the easiest for me in my unique situation ? That is why I listed how I use to and what software I use... But thanks for the input... I considered just doing the hard reset.... I just thought if now I am wiping my phone and starting over, which rom would give me added advantages...
And on the TomTom not working with 6.1..... My son bought a phone like mine after he saw me using it so much.. when he got his (After me) we grabbed the newest offical rom form HTC's site (he actually uses AT&T prepay, so the AT&T software is ok for him).. It was WM 6.1 and his TomTom software works fine.... So don;t let that stop you from using 6.1
I have downloaded the Athine OS WM 6.5 Final as well as the Hyper Dragan III from Christmas day, 08 as many people reccomened... I have to decide between them now... You have any experiance with either?

go to thread Android 2.0 (Eclair) for CDMA Diamond at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606760
I'm gonna try to use one for a remote control or mouse on my PC using Bluetooth. Let me know what you end up doing with it and I will do the same.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I have not decided yet. I have been busy writing apps for WP7. I also thought about using it as a remote or some kind of touch pad for the PC. They probably will sit in my closet then ten years later I will dig them out and laugh.
I need to find a rom with the bare bones no sense just to install some good apps for my computer. I gave the touch diamond to my sister when I upgraded to my evo. She just bought the evo shift so I'm getting it back from her.
Have you got a chance to check out Touchxperience? I haven't read up on it since I switched to android...
http://www.touchxperience.com/
TouchExperience looks awesome and I will definitely like to play around with it once it comes out.
Ok.. this is my setup... running mightyrom 6 from http://www.mightyrom.com and installed gremote from their website. http://www.gbmsoftware.com/
I found a windows mobile version under the download section.(free) I couldn't get the phone to active sync with my PC so I downloaded the app(gremote) to my PC and downloaded the cab(gremote) to my phone.
I go to settings on my diamond and the the Home section-> Items and unchecked everything. Then I took the gmote app and put it in the windows/startup folder. This way when I turn on the phone the remote app starts on its own.
Its really not that hard to setup. Im curious to hear someone else try it..
Its awesome.. I can now use the phone to control the mouse pointer on my 32 inch flat screen. It also functions as a keyboard too.
The app uses wifi to connect so make sure your wifi is turned on on the phone..
My only source of internet at the moment is tethering my evo4g to PC using wireless tether and its amazing all my devices are now linked..
Cool and thanks for the feedback. I am still busy writing apps for WP7. Today I got a great geeky idea but I like it. I am going to set up the phone to provide useful information like weather or something and thought about mounting it on a wall or putting somewhere else. Done right it will be seamless and always their to provide info.
Hopefully you do not read about me in the news. Mans house burns down because he had a phone embedded in the wall and the battery exploded.
Q What can I do with my Diamond
ArmyScout can you get in touch with this guys or anyone here to shed some light on a few things for us?
And did Peter pass? If so when and how? Or are you just setting this for him as Head of the Pathfinders fo him? more info, more info.

I recently bought myself a new Xperia Z1. Phone works fine but when I paired it with Nokia CK-7W the callers all complain about echo.
I did read some suggestions here on this forum that older Xperias had something similar. On those you had to change the class of the device in order to make the echo go away see below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478612&page=2
However Androids do not have registry and thus I would be interested to know if I need to make the change from "smartphone " to "phone" somehow. I have no idea how to.
Any other suggestions to get rid of the echo?
hop!
You cannot refer to that link because the X1 use WM6.1 and Windows have Registry, Android do not have it so you cannot do that. BTW you can use build.prop but not sure if there will be any solutions. To edit build.prod you have to be Rooted, when you will be rooted maybe some solution will can be find but I don't know any at the moment.

Thanks for the note. Here is same problem with Android phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=676175
Seems like someone tried rooting the phone with no help there. I am sure there is a way to get the phone working with car-kit since it works with perfectly with other phones (I have tried Nokias, HTCs and iPhones).
Any ideas?
