Pressure on the screen - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hey guys, there seems to be something a little irregular with the screen. When I press on the screen anywhere, there is a spot on the screen that appears to be what looks like pressure being exerted on it. Just like how it looks when you press on the LCD screen of a laptop. This happens also when i press on the case at the top on the left side. The spot I am talking about is about 1 in down from the top of the screen and about 1.5cm to the right from the left of the screen. It is not easily seen unless the screen is displaying a very dark background.

There is a membrane over the surface of the screen that will flex as any pressure is applied to the touch screen, both by the pen and by the frame. If you look at it through polarized sunglasses you can see the effect of any pressure quite dramatically. Unless the screen is malfunctioning or there is color distortion, I don't see a problem.

i dont think thats what hes talking about, he makes it sound like whne he touches the screen a "lcd ripple" appears somewhere else on the screen.
Mine does this when i slide hte keyboard, i can see one in the middle, it kinda worries me, especially since my last kaiser's screen broke and i didnt do anything, i just took it out of my pocket and it was like that.

Screen Problem - line on screen

Hello, I've had my diamond about a week, looked after it, no physical damage to it as far as i noticed...
but just been browsing and notice a small line about 1cm long across the screen only visible on light background, rainbow coloured. would this be a scratch underneath the screen? i dont feel any roughness on the outer screen. how would this happen, any solutions? cheers.

Same here...
Thats a fault with the screen, I work for a big TV company and that is the most common fault we see in our service centre! is it a green line? if so then its probably some dust on an internal connector, According to our engineers its easy to fix but invoves taking the whole screen off!
(this is how it works with TV's im pretty sure its the same with a phone screen!)
That's funny, I recently noticed the exact same kind of scratch on mine.
I can only tell with a white background though...
That happened to me aswell. Just do a soft reset, it worked for me .

We're not talking about the same thing here.
In my case, it's clearly a scratch considering I can see it with the device turned OFF under the right lighting conditions (and at a certain angle).
I can't tell if it's the screen protection or the actual screen that's damaged though and I don't really care to try to find out

Screen Issues

OK, my tilt is under a month old and have two concerns regarding the screen. When using the slider, at the very top of the fully opened "motion" the screen ripples in the center as if it is being compressed with a finger. It is about half and inch in diameter and repeats if I slide the screen at the top of its fully opened position. Is this normal? It is visible under my solid blue background.
Secondly, under certain lights there is a rainbow effect when the screen is off. This is only noticeable if I have it under the light at specific angles. If I push my finger on the screen it moves as if the two layers of the touch screen are in constant contact with each other and in turn when I push on it, I can manipulate this location. This is visible under the center most part of the screen. I am using the original screen protector provided by ATT.
Just wondering if this is normal, if not, I'm tempted to return it and get a new one under the 30-day policy.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone please?
Ive never noticed anything like that. It sounds to me that there is some space between a few layers of plastic and that is causing diffraction of light which you see as the rainbow affect. If you have the option of replacing it with a new one I would. I mean if I buy something I want it to be in mint condition when I pay for it, not damaged.

screen defect?

I just got a tilt about a week ago and ive noticed that in the middle of the screen there seems to be a purple greenish tint when put against incandescent light. The size of said glint varies in size but i'm unable to see what changes the size. Not sure if its heat or pressure or something. The touch screen works perfectly its just really annoying to always see such an annoying glint.
An interesting discovery is that when i press all four corners of the screen it disappears and when i press in the middle of the little square it seems to spread out. I feel like theres some kind of material or something in the touch screen that is causing this due to pressure. I keep it in a hard case in my pocket so the screen isnt pressed on inadvertently.
I've searched the forum for any answers but i havent seen anything about it. Any response or help would be greatly appreciated. I'll try to get a picture of it up asap but i left my camera at a friends house and dont know when im getting it back...thanks in advanced

Do you see the same "annoying glint" under neon light (not day / sunlight)?
Lots of NOKIA and SONY ERICSSON phones for example get this screen recolorization under direct sunlight - this has nothing to do with the screen being defective but with the plastic above the screen which breaks the light and shows you this colored spots. If you can't see the same spot under direct neon light then this might be the cause.
It is normal that you get color changes while pressing the screen in. First of, you press / bent the protecting plastic and the liquid within the screen which causes the incoming light to break in a different angle, therefore the color changes. (BTW: you shouldn't do that too often, it can cause permanent stains on your screen!).
There sure is the possibility that your screen gets pressure from underneath due bad assembling! If you're still under warranty, try to get a replacement.
yeah you cant see it in day light. but i feel as though there is constant pressure on the screen between the plastic and liquid since the spot is always there and doesnt really go away (unless of course in daylight).
well im thinking im going to go back for a replacement. thanks for the quick answer!

Screen Distortion / Ripple

Does anyone else have this problem:
When you're just pressing a bit harder than the usual touch, on the top and bottom Left side bezel, it causes the Screen to ripple (fluid wave effect).
Not even pushing down too hard, just a firmer press than usual. This is easy too see on a darker background, like the default background when the device wakes up and still in locked mode.
Yes I realize it's a LCD screen, plus this Corning glass is thinner, and we're not always pressing it that hard to notice anyway.
But the Right side bezel and other areas are mostly fine,
So I'm wondering if it's a defect on my device or not (the left side being too sensitive)? would this cause further problem in the future? And it could be a concern if I carry the Nexus 7 in the backpack and other items pressing on it.
Other reports on this:
http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/29/3125396/google-nexus-7-review
"the display can give a little and cause the LCD to ripple if you really press hard against the screen"
http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-7-tablet-forum/191040-screen-distortion.html
I wonder if I try the Fix on the other thread, taking off the cover, but instead, loosen the screws a bit on the left side, would that help?
Thanks!
Hi,
My device has this too. Mostly on the left side & a little less on the right side but hardly any on the top or bottom.

[SOLVED] S Pen Screen Pressure

Does anyone know if there is a setting somewhere to increase the touch screen pressure sensitivity when using the s pen?
I have to press quite hard with the s pen (not when using my fingers) and am worried about damaging the screen. I've see other people using their pen much more lightly and the screen responds well for them.
I know there is a potentionometer (sp?) inside the s pen that is supposed to increase sensitivity but I'm not sure if it's the same as adjusting the actual pressure sensitivity. I've seen conflicting advice on whether the button should be turned clockwise or anti-clockwise. I don't get any ghost writing on my screen when hovering over it and the air view works as it should, it's just the amount of pressure I need to put onto the screen to make it work with the pen.
Also, does anyone know what the other button is for in the s pen? I mean the one farthest from the nib of the pen.
Thank you anyone who can help with this
Solved
If anyone is interested who has the same problem all I did was turn the second potentionometer 90 degrees anti clockwise. It was tricky as it's underneath the plastic clasp but if you use a small pin and take your time it eventually turns, little by little.
The first button seems to be for hovering sensitivity, the second is for pressure sensitivity. You can calibrate it to your liking.
Mine is working perfectly now.
