I am currently using Dutty's newest rom. For the PTT button I am able to define what happens when I hold the button.
I would like to add the ability to close the program when I hold the OK button (button 4). Is there a good way to add the (hold) option in the button settings for all buttons?
Thanks,
-Dan
For ALL buttons? Even the camera? Then what? How will you take pictures?
Have you searched? Someone wrote a program to do this, I read it yesterday. Try searching. I know you are new, but the search button will be yoru friend.
Well, I guess not all buttons. I just would like the option to configure two things for each button.
Through my search I found AE button. I tried that, but was unsuccessful to get it to work properly. I am attempting to remap the side OK button. Remapping the "OK" button only applies to the front OK button.
I think more of my issue is that I am trying to remap the side button, is that possible? I imagine many people would love to be able to close programs using this button.
I hate to be so wrong, so quickly.
My mistake, AE button is exactly what I was looking for it. I was remapping the wrong button. Although it isn't easy to use, I recommend it to all.
I would prefer a reg-tweek to add the option to the buttons dialog, but this will do.

This is the simplest and non 3rd party way to remap your buttons for long press. No need to install a program.
I searched all over the place to remap the PTT Button on my AT&T Tilt without altering the ROM. I don't use or want to use Push To Talk services which made the PTT Button useless, Remappers weren't working and the PTT settings screen kept poping up every time I hit the button.
So I tried the following solutions:
1: How to assign a shortcut to EndKey, SendKey, Power Button, PTT Button!!
+ This allowed me to assign another program to the key (Voice Command, Short_PTT.lnk). And it worked fine.
- However, the PTT Settings kept popping up also, though it would go away if I just ignored it.
2: Cingular ROM users: PTT function hacked!
+ Though this is not really for the Tilt/Kaiser, and it would not accept any remap in accordance with its directions, it did disable the PTT Settings program from rearing its ugly head.
++ Combined with solution 1 above, this button does exactly what I want it to do!
Thanks to the 2 contributors, HMA4 and SLEUTH255, Cheers!

Did you delete the PTT registry entry? Otherwise, your remap won't stick.
What I did was
1) delete the PTT registry entry
2) remaps the button using SPB Pocket Plus.
I searched but could not find the registry entry, and I have pocket plus, remapping wasn't working, probly due to the registry (and I'm not very comfortable editing that anyway). This has stuck through several resets, and can be uninstalled if i wish, maybe you could elaborate because I may not understand any negative implications in this method.
I'm pretty new at pocket PC's.
Thanks.
Here ya go!

Here's mine,
1)Disable PTT (Credit to vpoet)
2)In the registry navigate to the hklm\services\ptt
Back it up and delete it (yes the entire key)
3) Install cab
It'll map a new button 6; (two functions-button 6 press and button 6 hold) and also allow you to change whatever is on the button using the button menu in settings.
(It's default icon for button 6 is Voice Speed Dial, and button 6 (hold) is record, but you can change either key to what you want.)

Thanks, I didn't know that I could remap it with SBP Pocket Plus, but it works like a charm.
actually, i found this to be the absolute simplest solution available (no programs, just three registry tweaks):

is there a way to remove PTT from 'Programs' also?
I have been searching for a little while and I have seen where people claim to have mapped the longpress for the IE button but nothing to show how it's done. I have successfully remapped almost every other button but I can't seem to find anything on the bottom IE & OK buttons. Any ideas or just a point toward the right post.
Keys I want to remap the most are.
Windows Long - Live Search
IE Long - Minmo
AE Button might be able to help you.

Get AE button plus.
I am not being cheap. Is there a reg hack that I can do?
for anyone thats used the old htc wizard you might remember an app called smartskey that would remap the two softkeys long presses long press the left soft key you can have the start menu open long press the right soft key and it would close the app. Smartskey worked perfectly on my hermes and my kaiser but on my fuze it doesnt work at all. Is there anyway to make an app that can remap the long press functions of the home and back keys for the fuze?
The only one I've found is DredSensor. It allows you to customize click, double click and double tap for all four of the hard buttons.
The Smartskey also lets you remap the Volume buttons to Page Up/Down behaviors too... which still kinda work. It also allows mapping the D-pad's Up/Down/Left/Right behaviors to launch apps.
The Smartskey app was a gem. I would love to see it ported to the Raph
wth... double posted
long press for all the buttons are now pretty much re mappable in some way (CM is a great example). But the menu button's long press cannot be re mapped to my knowledge.
To me the default menu long press is pretty useless. am i the only one that thinks this? is there a method i am overlooking that lets one remap the long press menu?
It brings up the keyboard right ? Its quite useless but has helped me bring back the terminal on numerous occasions
