Mms Over Gsm?? - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

is it possible that the MMS is over gsm instead of the server. i am using proxy settings right now and i have to set up the server using the proxy ips. The only thing is that in school i don't get internet service and my data don't connect so is it possible that MMS can be recevied through gsm instead of the proxy setting server.

if you have the t-mobile web plan, your APN is wap.voicestream.com
if you have total internet plan, your APN is internet2.voicestream.com
the t-mobile web is a lot cheaper, you can add the following proxy setting that allow you to get to most of the web, email, and sync with your company exchange.
Proxy setting: getmorespeed.voicestream.com port 8080.
no proxy if you pay for the total internet.
thank you. Worked for me as well.
Re: Settings I use . . .
Hi,
So did you get VPN to work on the phone? If yes, how?

isp not working

I am on my TILT trying to use the isp.cingular connection and it will not load up a webpage. But if I open up my mail and send/recieve it will connect and update properly, any ideas?
Disable the Cingular Proxy in your Programs menu.
isp not working?
There are a few things to look at. APN isp.cingular may be "turned off" for you to access it if you are not on the right data plan. Another thing, The connection profile "My ISP" is not set up completely out of the box. But I assume it is if your using it and your email is working. Another is, you need to disable the proxy with the Proxy Manager cabs before PIE will work with isp.cingular
its probably because you dont have the settings correct go to Settings>connections>Advanced>Select Networks> Set both of those to My ISP
Now go to Connections>My ISP>Manage Connections>My ISP(edit)
Access Point Name: wap.cingular
User Name: WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: cingular1
Advanced:
Servers:
DNS: 208.67.222.222
Alt DNS: 208.67.220.220
that will work perfect
well actually I didn't change anything, after a soft reset it just started working
my Tilt with Kaiser ROM has "User Name: [email protected]"
rather than "WAP.CINGULARGPRS.COM"
(@ instead of .)
which is correct ? seems to be working as is, but surely both aren't right ?
DLD
Actually both are right

Can't get T-MobileWeb to work on Unlocked Tilt on T-Mobile

Did anyone successfully get T-MobileWeb to work on the Tilt to get internet access? I am able to send/receive email but cannot get PIE to connect tot he internet. I've setup the usual T-Mo proxy setting but is there another proxy in PIE somewhere? Is it an issue with PIE connecting through a WAP port?
Thanks.

I think therefore I am.... confused!!!
you need to search forums for tilt tmobile, thats what i had to do..how are your MMS working out... i cant get mine to work after i changed my proxy to get the $5.99 hack... i am thinking i might have to get the data plan.. let me know if you get it working...
these are the settings i am using;
Under Modem,Edit, needs to be wap.voicestream.com
under Proxy the setting needs to be, see below;
This network connects to internet, network uses a proxy server to connect, box need to be checked.. 216.155.165.50, then under advance
216.155.165.50 port:8080
216.155.165.50 port:1901
216.155.165.50 port:1901 or 03 worked for me
sockets, need to be blank
guys, i was able to get both working, however, not on the stock at&t tilt rom. first to get the mms working, i just went to settings-connections-connection setup, and let it setup ur settings for tmobile usa. this will not allow your mms to work. now go to the connections and modify the settings for the 5.99 plan (i posted the exact settings a while back, search for it).. all u pretty much gotta do is add the proxy. good luck
omar
ps..if ur using the tilt rom, i never got the mms working, and wasnt able to access the internet on the 5.99 plan. on the 19.99 plan worked fine tho

i did try those settings...(that is what they are set to now) my internet has no problems, but my MMS does not... so i cant understand the prob!
I've tried all the settings provided by we3zy but still can't get it to work. In PIE, it kept on saying "opening..." and then came back with the following error:
Error 502 - Bad Request
The server could not resolve your request for url: /
Any thoughts?
- Thanks.
OK, got it to work with accessing internet and email by adding a modem setting. However, I have to switch the two connections depending on which function I need.
Under Setting, Connections, Advanced button, Select Networks...I need to do the following:
In the Network Management screen I have a few choices but only the two settings in the top choice (Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: ) need switching. When I click on to select the choices, I have setup one for accessing the internet and another to get email.
Is this normal or am I the only one that have this issue? Its kind of annoying to keep on switching the setting for the functions. Any way to combine the two connections or have the device auto choose and connect automatically?

I really can't explain why your getting that problem. But visit www.yahoo.com and then visit google.com again. I had that problem on the iphone, don't know why.
Make sure you've checked:
use software compression
use ip header compression.
and all ports are 9201
the settings above worked to get ny internet browser up i am currently on google with the original at&t rom now im gonna check my emails and weather plug ins

They are all checked. I changed all ports to 9201 even the http and now when i open pie it says
"You do not have access rights to this site
URL=www.google.com/
Status=20(hex)"
Also it adds "wsp://" in front of any link i type in the browser. Maybe you didnt mean change the http port to 9201 but i gave it a shot. are you guys and XXwindowsXX using the 5.99 deal? and it works?
email routing issue + cannot download TM's w/ pics
Hi All ~~
It sounds like I may have found the right msg board! I am a T-Mobile customer using an unlocked AT&T phone with the original ROM (minus the bloatware). I currently have three msging accounts on the Tilt: text msging, a hotmail account and a work email account (which I check via Outlook on my PC). I am having two annoying problems:
(1) I keep getting TMs saying that I have received an email on my work account; however I cannot (a) get the text msg notifications to turn off, nor (b) get the emails to actually pull down into the account. So: I know I have a work email (even who from), but cannot read it. Any thoughts on how to resolve either or both of these issues?
(2) I cannot receive or send pic text msgs. Really annoying; I am curious to see how other T-Mobile Tilt users have their settings arranged for this.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide ~~ Kim
TYTN/Hermes settings?
These settings in post four, would they be the same for the HTC TYTN/Hermes as well? After going into cnections, I notice that there isn't anything called connection settings. Just add new modem conection, proxy settings etc. I'd really like to be able to get this T-Zones up and running on my Hermes as well.
Thanks,
Cristobal

Yes, it should be. You'll need to add a new modem connection and edit the proxy settings. PM me if you can't get it to work and I'll try to help you.
Tilt Solution To Force Http Instead Of Wsp On Tmobile
Our good friends at ATT have two cab files in the \windows folder which install and remove a hidden proxy. By default, it funnels through the proxy.
 BAD ATT!
If you are using T-mobile's 5.99 gprs plan and the HIDDEN proxy is enabled, all traffic will be routed through the hidden proxy and you will be forced to WSP:// pages. This will effectively lock you out of many of the sites that do not support the WSP protocol. Other carriers (Orange?) may be doing this too to drive WSP traffic.
To correct the problem, go to the windows folder and
1. run the restoreHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab
2. and then run the removeHiddenProxy4CWS_0522.cab file
3. Close your data connection and restart it. If you don't know how, just press the reset button.
After this is complete install the standard T-mobile GPRS settings and you should be in good shape. If you need a cab for t-mobile, search the board for the most current one or PM me. I keep one handy too.

try this:
server name: call it whatever you want
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: whatever you called the server name
Sending limit: 300k
WAP version: WAP 2.0
make sure you set this MMS server as default
The 5.99 plan requires a proxy. No exceptions that I'm aware of. The good news is that I've not found a page that I cannot browse. The speed isn't stellar, but quite acceptable. Additionally, since the power requirements for GPRS are low, I check email every 10 minutes.
There are a series of CAB files floating around here somewhere that have all the correct settings for each of the Tmo plans.
Same phone also ulocked for T-mobile Final solution
I suggest that you start afresh (Hard reset your phone)
then go to this link and download the cab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1521768&postcount=70
download this cab
tmobyjoe599.cab
I had the same problem as you but that worked for me and im sure it will work for you.
Oh before i forget make sure that you disable automatic wireless configurator, that stuff is crap.
p.s note to be a pain in the ass. Next time search the forum even google will lead you to the answer of your question.

Manila 2.5 and At&t MMS

Hey guys, I posted this in general as well. I couldn't find anything for the life of me on it so I apologize if it's in here but I searched for about an hour. I got MMS working with manila 2.5 for Tilt 2. Here is the post.
Hey guys, here it is. I was beat last night.
http://thewingster.com/mmsfixm25.aspx
First use that link and download the OTHER networks fix by Valkyrie/Ace10134.
This will create a SampleMMSC MMS server in addition to the ATT one. Once that is done, go to all messages in you text messaging, then menu, then options. Once in this menu, hit menu again and hit MMS server. Here is where you need to put your settings and I think where the issue on the other fix has been. ATT's send limit is 600KB while Manila 2.5 defaults to 1024kb.
Server name: Whatever the hell you want it to be.
IP address: wireless.cingular.com
Port number: 80
Server address: http://mmsc.cingular.com
Connect via: MEdia Net
Send limit: 600 KB
WAP version: WAP 2.0
Let me know how this works for you guys. Make sure you actually have the phone set to use the new MMS server too =)
If this does the trick for it some one cab it up for me please. I can't right now. Good luck guys. Let me know if this does the trick for you. I have sent many of MMS fine.
mms fix
Please post to links for users to try thanks.
For those who can't receive at&t mms:
I used the PR MMS MediaNet settings tool available on XDA
Go to Settings>Connections>Connections
Delete all data connections before running the tool
Use the device Network Setup Tool to make your primary connection.
Run the PR MediaNet MMS tool to set the size limites
After setting up the connection create a new connection in com manager
Use Work Connection
Use these settings
Connection Cellular GRPS 3G
Name I used MediaNet No Proxy
APN wap.cingular
Username [email protected]
Passwork CINGULAR1
Do not use the proxy settings for this
Have all internet applications go to this connection do that in your com manager
Go into your mms options in messaging click servers click at&t mms make sure MediaNet is still the connection for send/receive mms
now it will send receive mms using the at&t proxy and the internet for other apps without the proxy

[Q] Set up to access internet via Consumer Cellular

I have a Nokia Lumia 1020 cell phone which uses Windows 8 and is running on Consumer Cellular.
I can access the internet via Wi-Fi but not otherwise.
See the attachment for the info that Consumer Cellular provides:
Here is the info that the 1020 needs:
mms apn
APN _________________________________
User name ____________________________
Password _____________________________
WAP gateway (URL) _____________________
WAP gateway port _______________________
MMSC (URL) ___________________________
MMSC port _____________________________
Maximum MMS size ______________________
mms apn
APN __________________________________
User name _____________________________
Password ______________________________
Proxy server (URL) _______________________
Proxy port ______________________________
What are my replies to the questions that the 1020 is asking?.
APN (Access Point Name) is att.mvno for both Internet and MMS.
There is no username or password required.
The MMS (but not the general Internet data) requires a proxy server: proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com, port 80.
You really should just use Nokia's network setup app if you can, though.
That worked!
