AE Button Plus question - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Does anyone know if AE Button Plus can assign a button to opening a file, sucah as playing an mp3 when a certain button is pressed?
I have tried creating a shortcut to the mp3 and then mapping a button to run it as an aplication, but it wont open it. Ideas anyone?

I haven't tried it, but how about setting AEB button to "Run Application" then run "Windows Media Player", then optional parameters put the path to the mp3 file name?

Ive tried that, it Opens Media Player & seems to look for a file but cant find it.
In the parameters line I have:
\Storage Card\foldername\filename.mp3
Is this the correct format?

I would have thought so. Also, are your file associations for .mp3 set for Media Player? I would send an email to AEB's author, he's pretty responsive.

I've tried it with both associations ser for media player and core player. Would ask the author, but feel a bit cheeky doing so as I didn't pay for the software in the first place

Sorry, you should, it's such usefull software I HAD to pay him for his great work.

If I can get it to do what I want it to, then I will.

No more mp3 as ringtone

I can't assign mp3's as ringtones anymore for some reason.
They used to work, but now Windows doesn't allow me to even select them from the list of all available ringtones (they are listed, but when selecting them and pressing "ok", Windows automatically selects the next song from the list, which is in mwa format)
When I convert my mp3's to mwa, they can be played.
No one having the same kind of problems?
I can't set mp3's as ringtones or sms-sound. But I can play those same mp3's with AudioManager, with Mediaplayer, TCPMP and with Gsplayer.
Wav and mwa files can still be used (lucky me)
Is there perhaps a default player or some setting in the register that points to a default player that needs adjustment?
Had same problem before
I also experienced this problem before. I found out that in order for mp3's to work as ringtones, they had to be associated with windows media player. To fix this, go to GSPlayer, TCPMP, and any other media player you have, go to their respective settings, and uncheck Mp3 as a file association. Your mp3 ringtone should work now.
I have my mp3s associated with tcpmp and can assign them as a ringtone just fine. Not sure how you are assigning them, but this is how I do it.
Open file explorer, browse to mp3s, click-hold the mp3 I want as ringtone, choose "set as ringtone" from the context menu.

Ahh, thanks a lot. That seems to be it!
At least I was thinking in the good direction with that default player

This is exactly what I did when I had the same problem. Those file associations will cause you some problems.

If it works just fine with you with TCPMP, then the problem must lie with Gsplayer, since that was my default player for mp3's.
Fixing Ringtones
I had this problem and worked out how to fix it.
Look at the following Reg Key (change midifile to mp3file for mp3 issues)
Delete any EventSoundHandlers already in place and add this Key.
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandlers\{245F94CF-DD9C-46F9-B4C8-D2B14A877893}]
@="XME EventSound Player"

HTC suddenly plays no more MP3s

I did a soft reset today, and after that my Kaiser wont play MP3s as Ringtones or via File Explorer (selecting an MP3 as Ringtone has no effect, it plays the "Windows Mobile Ring" Midi File). When selecting an MP3 via File Explorer it says that there is no program associated to this file extension (the symbol in the file explorer for mp3s also looks like unknown file type (the white rectangle with the windows symbol in it). When starting any MP3 Player (GS Player, Mediaplayer, Audiomanager) it plays every MP3 on the Phone properly. But when selecting an file via Fileexplorer or as Ringtone it wont work (WMA or WAV are still working as Ring by the way).

winthropdc: Dude, you're awesome.
Long Story:
My phone never rang when my brother called me at lunch time. I assumed forever that it was bad signal in my office. Turns out he's the last holdout in my contacts that has a midi ringtone (never changed it because I was used to that being him). I tried checking it finally and low and behold, only the most polyphonic of my ringtones worked... but the musical key was way lower than it was supposed to be on the few instruments that were actually playing.
Short Story:
I found your fix and now my midi ringtones work again.
Here's what confuses me:
Where did these come from?
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandl ers\{DDDC2AE0-9CA8-4fbb-A7B0-088B6D202749}]
@="Ring Tone Plugin Player"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\midifile\Shellex\EventSoundHandl ers\{FB6D5104-86AC-4f81-8382-237125FF82CE}]
@="RingTone-Plugin Player EX2"
I can only assume that something I installed hacked up that part of my registry, but any ideas what or why?

lost fileassociation for .mp3

Hi,
after try and fail of the Vibe player (or something similar), because i don't like the media player the fileassociation is lost.
How can i rearrange the files back to the MP?
And another question is there any player wich is similar to Winamp?
or any other good advice for playing mp3?
THANKS!!
OK... To find out how to change the File Assocs was easy. When i start investing some more time in it.
But(Why is there always a but?) when changing the File Assoc now mediaplayer starts, but with an error. It says that the Path is not correct.
In the properties of the playlist item i can see that "/Internal Storage/Music/ is missing so i entered these values manually in front of the %1 parameter.
But... that doesnt change anything. The Path will no be recognized.
How can i do that?
Thanks!
So... at least i found out myself...
Just set the %1 in parameters into doublequotes (").
That was all...
And for refreshing WMP library just close WMP.
Delete MSMETADATA and WMDRM directories from Internal Storage.
Start WMP again and refresh library.
mp3 file associations - RSS Hub and TF3D player
1st_Xypher,
I have a related issue with mp3 file assocations.
For me, I use RSS Hub to automatically download my mp3 podcasts, but the problem is, is when I click on the podcast in RSS Hub (after it is downloaded, WMP is launched to play it).
I don't want WMP to launch and play the podcast, I want TF3D player to play the podcast.
So, I think I have to:
1) change the mp3 file assocation in Windows mobile to TF3D - but I have no idea where to do this. I have looked in the registry but I am a bit of a lamen.
2) Mod the registry for RSS Hub, but again, I don't know how to do this.
Do you experience similiar issues with RSS Hub? and do you have any suggestions?
Thanks.
I have the same problem.
My file association for MP3 is gone. No idea how to get it back.
All my ringtones that ive used now dont work and the phone uses the default windows ringtone when i get a call.
sigh
The same thing happened to me when I installed a media player. I used total commander to fix the association, it worked.
However, media player can play .mp3 but I cannot use .mp3 as ringtones???I can select them, but they will not play. The default phone ringtones are .wma, how can I use .mp3 ones??
Bump...this is so important..!!

Use the File Explorer(Not 3rd party File Explorere) from /Start/Programs, goto the Music folder where you place your .mp3 file. Click & Hold, a drop-panel appeal select "Set as ringtone"
Hmm...thanks man, but there is no such choice...
I only get:
"cut,copy, rename,delete,send, beam file" .....
any other ideas guys??

Why don't you try Schaps Advanced Config?? on the right context menu there's an option File Associations??
That should do the trick....so start advanced config and tap on 'menu' and then File associations
Hope this will help you all..
Greetzz Jeroen
...the association is fixed, I can select and play .mp3 files now with media player BUT when I select them as contact ringtones (in the contacts information tab) they WON'T FUNCTION...no sound, NOTHING...while the default .wma ringtones work fine...

HTC Audio Manager cannot play associated MP3

Hallo, I have problem with file association for HTC Audio Manager.
When I set .mp3 [audiomanager.exe "%1"] in Advanced Configuration Tool (File associations section ) and launch .mp3 file example from File Explorer, Audio manager run, but without playing. On screen is old mp3 file from previos playing...
When I set .mp3 back to [WMPlayer.exe "%1"] and launch some .mp3 file, Windows media player run and play .mp3 file which I select. It is correct.
I need to run .MP3 file and launch and play it with Audiomanager, not WMP.
Help me, please.
you don't need to associate mp3s unless you want to associate a certain program to play it while browsing in a file explorer.by default audiomanager will detect the mp3 in the library and should play it back with no issues
Thanks for replay. Unfortunately, I need to associate MP3 with Audio Manager.
I use pRSSread for downloading and managing podcasts. When I run podcast from this program (it is same like run from File Manager), only WinMedia play podcast correct. Audio Manager open itself, but do not play selected file, see my previous post. :-(
I want to play MP3 from pRSSread on Audio manager. This program is more comfortable, powerful volume, nice bar on HTC Home, display MP3 tags, ...
Is there anybody, who can run MP3 in file manager and Audio Manager open and play?
It is strange, that I am alone with wants of this function...
Thank you!
Nope you're not alone. I just stumbled upon this thread searching for the exact same answer for the exact same reason... this problem is so freaking annoying. I'd rather have it launch into HTC's Audio Manager because I love the UI compared to all others players I've used. Plus I can turn off the display, and it keeps playing, if I could figure out how to make Windows Media Player do this instead of stop playing the podcast than I might settle for that as a work around.
Another annoying thing you may have noticed is it doesn't support PLS files either.

After trying to open an .mp3 file directly with audiomanager (using Resco Explorer) it stoped working.... Now it does open, but it skips all files in the library one by one, not playing even one of them.... whats happening??? any solution?

I fully agree with you... after hard resetting my P3300 Audio Manager is not able to find any titles to play! I spent a long time playing with playlist editors and trying to copy music files to almost every location but it still does not seem to work. I read it does not play files which does not have id3 tags and also it plays files only from device - not the storage card. Further analysis could get me the real cause of the problem but I am already exhausted. Any help guys? Do drop me a note please

Program reccomendations

Hello,
Is anyone here able to reccommend some programs that can offerr the following:
Audio player that I can start to listen to an audio book mp3 file then can close the application or switch off the phone then go back and reopen the player and continue listening from the same point?
Application so I can password protect or pincode protect some folders - Just a simple pin code protection is all i need.
Thanks
Regards,
Neil
No one? - Please can someone help?
Nitrogen - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=59478
And HTC Audio Manager
I can't see how the Nitrogen app can do what I need!
Bumping this thread - I need the same program that Neil is asking for. Just a simple file protection by password - nothing elaborate needed. When I had my Palm treo the built in messages software had the ability to just secure each file by a password if needed. Looking for the same here. I've done searches and nothing relevant came up. Anyone?
I used Pocket Music for audio book for long time. It is the best.
It has bookmark feature and automatically save the last point you listened to, and resume when next time you start it. ( all those features have to be turned on via settings)
Also I set the Camera button to act as play/pause key very handy...unfortunately hardware button mapping doesn't work with raphael. It works perfects with old wm phones but has some issues on raphael/diamond.
I downloaded it from iphone-forum.org and pda4x.com long time ago.
Don't know if you can find one (especially the latest one with crack )
encrypt folders -- use winrar or zip for wm?

I've been using MortPlayer to do that. The setup wizard allows even a novice to select directories with songs to use in regular music mode, and directories with audiobooks. Everyone else can set it up easily through the menus.
With a tap on the screen I can switch to the music directory to listen to music, or flip to the audio-book directory to continue listening from where I was at in the book. Long drives in the car require some variety...
