Although I've got notifications with incoming phone call set to "ring & vibrate", it actually only vibrates. The sound plays fine in the configuration screen, so the actual WAV file it should play *can* be found.
Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
Make sure the defalt program to open your ringtone is windows media player. That could cause that.

Are you running an original ROM? Or have you flashed a custom one? Please provide ROM and Radio version for more troubleshooting. If you do not know where to find this info, just soft reset your phone, it is displayed in red text as the phone is booting.
Have you changed rom? and if you did, did you choose an appropriate radio?
I have a standard ROM, O2. The phone does vibrate when I get called, it just doesn't play the WAV sound.
impalass: I never changed those settings.
Same Problem
I am also having the same problem. I recent bought a bluetooth headset: Plantronics 510. My phone and bluetooth does not ring. I have Dutty's WM6.1 WWE ROM with a radio version of 1.58.16.27. My phone's ringer was working prior to installing the bluetooth headset so I am not sure what the problem is. I don't think it is the radio but I'm not sure. It's irritating to miss every call. Please help guys.
I remember that some app were causing the same issue to me. Some game, I cant remember the name and pocket ringo(app that sets a different ringtone to a contact group).
I'm having the same problem here.
dutty's 6.1GER. radio 1.65.14.06.
i'm using a plantronics 665.
no ringer sound (just in ringer configuration menue).
BT turned off - still no ringer.
ms voice command turned off - no ringer.
soft reset - no ringer.
tried "BT toggle" (http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/sams...luetooth-headset.html?perpage=20&pagenumber=1)
still no ringer tone.
online the headset gives a few beeps (as id did before, but the phone was also ringing.)
greets
edit: shame on me. the right volume control was turned to 0. i always thougt it's only for handsfree.
How to change default program?

Seems like a reasonable fix.. but how do you change the default ringer? I cannot find anything.
Has anyone found a solution to the ringer not working? I'm also having this problem
I have the exact same problem. Until a solution is found, i do have a work around thats successful everytime:
Just go into your phone settings where you select the ringtone to play and just press the play button and then the stop button after a few seconds. It works everytime....no soft reset required.

Check, Start/Settings/Personal Tab/Voice Command. Make sure this is NOT enabled. I had some issues with my ringer, and this was the fix for me.
jmg and kangi26:
you are da bomb. i had the same problem. my phone just rang through the bluetooth headset when connected. i went to settings/personal tab/voice command/notifications and set it to:
announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only...
done!!!
thank you so much guys...
yeah I am constantly checking my phone because of this glitch or whatever it is. I fear one day it will cut of in the middle of hte night and I will miss my alarm

Nope, I have Cyberon Voice speed dial settings there. It was the same program in 6.0 also.
In this program there are not any settings like this to be checked /unchecked. I've tied to find something in the registery but failed...

wondered if anyone had any good things to say about this software, ive made a few calls on it while at the house, had to use my home wifi cause im out in the boonies.
i dont like that it auto starts after a boot up.
but if there was an easier way to use Google Talk from these phones, i wish i could find it.

I have Fring, but really haven't made any voip calls on it yet (other than the test call). I did use it for IM, but I think palringo or MunduIM are better for that. You can set it to not auto-start after a bootup - under the Menu option, it's Settings > Disable Autostart.
do those other two IM apps support VoIP? or are they IM only?
Palringo doesn't do voip, but it has a feature like push-to-talk, wherein if you're im'ing with another palringo user, you push a button and talk and they'll get the instant voice message. It's cool, but I don't really know anyone with Palringo so I never use that. Mundu doesn't have voip to my knowledge.
I use fring an it works great, but!!.... the sound of the otherside is comming through the speaker and not via the earpiece. Thats not the biggest deal, but when the sound comes via the speaker, the otherside hears echo from it self.
The headset fixes this issue..

Sorry to bring this bac kfrom the dead, lol. But you can disable autostart by simply pressing menu > Settings > Disable autostart, from within FRING itself.

You can also use that with AIM users and it sends them a sound clip of what you said.
Hi all,
everytime I launch Fring, my Tytn's sounds became low and I've to set it again.
Anyone have the same issue?
Thanks

That's just because Fring lowers the volume for the call. Turning the call volume up in Fring during a call will increase the system volume too.
I have switched on the notification-sound for new e-mails, but it don't works.
incoming new mails make no sound.
how can i solve this problem?
any ideas?

i already tried this. no change...
I believe the alerts only happen for Push Email. Not when the client pulls it. I was also unable to get the alert to work on pulled emails.
This is a known problem for the Kaiser and it has been discussed extensively in this thread
There have been several proposed solutions, all though at this time I believe nothing has been found to 100% fix the problem.
The thread recommends several of the following to fix the problem:
- Disable HTC Home
- Disable HTC Task Manager
- Uncheck sync Time with Network in the Phone Settings
- Use Kaiser Tweak to increase the Resume from Suspend time (under Notifications)
You can try those, however, even with those suggestions, I have been unable get notifications working 100%

Mine doesn't make a sound when it's plugged in to my PC, but when I'm wireless the sounds go off fine. Are you experiencing the problem all the time or only when plugged in to the PC?
Ok I have been messing with this and I got the notifications to work. 2 of the 4 suggestions mentioned above seem to be how I have it working.
- Uncheck sync Time with Network in the Phone Settings
- Use Kaiser Tweak to increase the Resume from Suspend time (under Notifications)
As far as I can tell, the 2nd one of the most important. I seem to get an alert every time I get a new gmail message. I have my phone set to check once every 2 hours.

Works fine on my Gmail account, which I'm grabbing using POP. Something else is going on.
Hi Peoples!
Im not sure if this is the right section of the Kaiser forum that this thread belongs in...if not then mybad in advance
ok so moving on to the problem: I have a bit of a randomly happening problem. I currently own ATT tilt which runs wm 6 and have installed program called profiles to help me switch phone ring status.... vibrate when i am at work (8am to 5pm mon-fri) and then normal when i am not(5pm onwards each day)...
When the phone switches profiles...it makes a sound and displays a message on screen indicating a swtich in profile took place, BUT what is happeneing is sometimes, the phone will play that sound repediately switching to same profile numerous times and the message goes in and out....if this is confusing ill give an example....lets say its 7:59am right at 8am the phone makes the sound and switches to "work" profile and displays a message on the screen saying that it has switched to "work" profile....BUT every once in a while the sound will repeat for 5-6 times and the message "work profile activated" will go in and out....o btw this happens on both profiles - normal and work
Got any suggestions?
Thanks
First, this post should be in the general Kaiser forum, because it is not related to upgrading.
Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the program?
Are you running the AT&T ship ROM? Or a custom one?
HTC Home is an application for your Today screen that has a profile tab for changing between Normal/Vibrate/Silent/Custom modes. That is what I use to switch between profiles at work and home.
oh i c oops....can a mod help me move it to the right section....
yes i have tried uninstall and reinstall...i am running the ATT ship ROM...i actually like to automate anything that i have to do manually in the morning since i am always in a hurry but i did explore the HTC Home profile switcher...but it didnt do what i wanted...which was to auto switch to a perticular profile at a given time and then switch back after...

what software exactly do you use?
from what you say, it is a conflict with other apps on the phone or with the OS itself. you need to provide more details. and most probably you will receive advices like: do a hard-reset, install app and check to see if problem is gone. my guess is it will be gone...
The name of the program is called: WMA Profiles for Windows Mobile
Well...i have done a hard reset already, tried reinstalling the program(like i already stated)...i have done most of the basic stuff for troubleshooting the problem
Have you tried Phone Alarm from PocketMax?
No i havent tried that....is this program similar to profiles....because profiles has all the things i am lookin for in a profile switcher app...
Just received my Best Buy HTC Diamond and loving it. However, I'm having an issue with WiFi notification preferences and shutting down.
I don't like the sonar notification when a new WiFi network is detected, so I go into sounds & notifications settings and disable the sound. That's fine and all works, until I shut off phone and turn it back on. Then those settings are reset. Any idea to keep it persistent?
Thanks!
I'm having the exact same issue.. there's some posts here and there that suggest it's a bug with Opera that's stuffing everything up, but it's only the soft reset that effects me too...
Let me know if you find anything...
BTW - using regedit, I manually changed the notification .wav file and this seems to have kept it off the sonar one (which is god awful)
Give that a go which might at least prove a partial solution....
possible solution
Go to communication manager ->settings-> wireless lan->menu->wi-fi->menu->advanced->deselect turn on available network notification. I'm willing to bet this will do the trick. Have a nice day!

Hi adinic2007
good idea (great how WM hides all these settings), except I still like the notification, just not the awful sound...
Hi Jinxey,
I put a call into HTC, and they tried to tell me perhaps it's programs installed on my diamond that might be creating the issue (of course it's someone elses fault) - which isn't surprising - isn't that why all M$ products fail - because you're trying to install other programs...???
Anyway - can you give me a list of the programs you have installed - I might try a bit of troubleshooting myself.
cheers
I tried searching around xda and in the registry for this but couldn't find anything. When I'm on a call and the other person hangs up first, I get a line disconnected tone coming from the speakerphone, loudly. What's the way to disable this?
Edit: Currently running R3AA010uk, radio 1.14.25.55
Anyone experience this? Should I just always be the first to hang up?
Surely there is some kind of registry key for this, right?
Hi,
I think it's a common windows mobile feature.
It might be possible to disable it with sktools, anybody can confirm that??
The same thing happens with notification sounds, like for a new text message, the notification goes through the speaker when I'm on a call, not using the speakerphone.

i have the exact same ROM and have the same issue. i wouldn't say it's a problem, as i don't mind it.... it doesn't happen if i have the phone on vibrate/silent. wierd thing, i've come to like it over the months
i found somewhere in the registry under software somewhere i think where it says "call drop" and then it defines what file is used to make that sound perhaps if you deleted the thing it wouldnt make any noise at all

Eddie's post gets you to the right place:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\CallDrop\Sound
Then removed the data for the string "Script" (it will be 'p' at first, just delete the string). That worked
