So I want to check my yahoo email from my AT&T tilt, however according to AT&T there is NO way to do it unless I pay Yahoo $20/year for something. I had it all set up when I first got the Tilt a few days ago and it worked intermitt for a while, but quit last night. After calling tech support they wanted me use xpress mail, but that does not get all the folder info from yahoo.
So, per tech I deleted the accounts, hard reset (I soft reset at the bloatware load) and now I need to install a new email account to check yahoo. After doing so, I get an error that says to check my user name and password...but I know they are correct. I did not get this error before, just got intermit email retrieval.
Is there a chance that when talking to tech they notified yahoo or flipped a switch or something so that there is no way I can do this now.
OR is there a way to check my Yahoo email without using xpress mail...OR by using xpress mail and being able to see all the folders I have in yahoo?
Thanks much...I tried the wiki and the search but did not find any info...although I am sure someone will point me to the solution right away.
outlook on your device should auto detect settings for yahoo, mine works fine and i'm not payin yahoo a cent for access
It does auto detect the pop stuff when I am setting up the email account, however I still get the "check password and user name" error.
i have no problems here...are you sure your putting in the right passworkd username?? lol iot happens to me also
Yahoo used to have a great add on app similar to windows live for hotmail but they put out a new one that blows and didn't allow you to sync your mail with outlook. Thats why I switched to hotmail. Plus i love being able to sync my contacts with my hotmail account.
there's another alternative, one of these threads shows how to direct all mail to a server and just set outlook to that to get everything you need from it
Well...to make me even more mad...I leave the house, go for a drive with the same "bad user name and password" and all of a sudden...BLING...I have mail! So I guess I have the right user name and password. WTF man? I just do not get it...and of course the knuckleheads at AT&T don't get it either. At least I have a non-bloatware phone now...stock ROM though.
Appreciate the help and continued comments.
stock rom shouldnt have to do with it but then again anything is possible these days.i never came across that issue with my old tornado,my 8125,hermes or my kaiser
At this point it still working, but I have little faith that it will continue as such.
Still reloading all my cabs after the reset...forgot I already put that much in this thing...might need to rethink it some. I will flash this sucker sometime soon...still have 20 days to return it if I am not happy.
Thanks again,
Well...that did not last long...it is back at it. Again with the "check your login and password" error. So, could there be a connection issue... ie. do I have to be in 3G to get email? I am on the edge of 3G coverage here.
I just do not get it.
since you get service on and off like that, it may be a different issue. being on 3g or not doesnt affect it, only affect the speed of your transfers.
at this point i dont get it either, maybe it's somethign wrong on Yahoo's end. could be blocking access to their yahoo mail service, making you sign up for their paid service or using thier new app yahoo 2.0 soon to be 3.0
I can't believe someone still uses Yahoo mail when there's Gmail.. It just boggles my mind.
yea i use gmail and comcast mail and have everything forwarded thats important to my gmail.i tend to use yahoo mail only for spam
Gmail has the best hands-down no-argument spam filter.
And charging people for POP3? Are you freaking ****ting me? What is this, 1980? How about charge them $1/email? Fraking ridiculous.
Well, I see you all don't like Yahoo...but that is what I use and I really like it...been using it for years. EVERYONE knows that email address and I I can't risk not having it for now.
But, this morning as I am talking AT&T about this thing...I explain that I have friends that get Yahoo mail...she says "it won't work, there is no way to do it"...then I tell her there is a forum where I posted this question and she says "look sir I do this for a living and I can assure you it will NOT work"...right then I get Yahoo mail on my phone. I tell her, "you might want to think about your line of work a little, or even switch careers and be a coffee jockey somewhere...cuz I JUST GOT YAHOO MAIL ON MY PHONE!!!".
Needless to say she was speechless for like 2 minutes. Then I concluded the call.
For most of today...while not in a 3G area...I got emails. I still don't get it.
I will look into the Gmail thing, however I just can't afford to not have my Yahoo account right now. Years ago I looked at Gmail and it was a joke...this was like 8 years ago or something...so I am sure it is greatly improved.
Thanks again for the help,
I get the same issue listed above, was there ever a fix for this. I've tried everything listed in the thread. I can't drop my Yahoo because I have way to many personal and business contacts linked to this e-mail. I just can't figure out why it is giving me password errors, any advice?

Was using yahoo and hotmail for the longest time too so I understand your reluctance to switch, AFAIK you can set most these web mail services to forward mail to another address and also have a "reply to:" feature this will make it easier for you to migrate to a new address if ever you do decide to do so. I migrated to Gmail a few years back because they had free POP forwarding. Now that I don't have a PC at home I use my device for all my email. Currently I have 5 email accounts on my tytn2.
3 Gmail = 1 for personal , 1 for forums i join, 1 for mobile , 1 Live Hotmail = the occasional straggler emails, and 1 Yahoo = the occasional straggler emails.
Oh and I don't use POP anymore all of the above are IMAP [Gmail also has free IMAP forwarding]
Yahoo does not provide POP3 email forwarding unless you pay $20 a year for "MAIL PLUS"
see this
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/manage/manage-69.html
you can get your email here
http://us.m.yahoo.com/
on your browser
I got yahoo mail though the AT&T application XpressMail, it worked all the time and you can schedule it to check your email at an interval, its free i havent been charged whatsoever unless its because i use it through wifi. the great thing is it integrates with mobile outlook, i would advise installing that at least so your yahoo problems are solved
Yahoo Go
I used this one and it worked out well, Yahoo Go 2.0. I can't find the download link as i'm in a rush out the door. But this manages your yahoo mail rather well and has other nice features. When I get the my study spot I'll try to find the link and post it.

I know this is not the place to ask this question, but you guys are experts and I would think you would have the best answer to this question. I need an email client for an IMAP server with TLS...actually it's a Cyrus IMAP server running on SuSE 9.0. Outlook is alright, but I can't just send an email, rather I have to send and receive at the same time. I've tried WebIS mail, but it seems to be really slow.
What are you folks using?

So I have it working. I setup a Rule not to download mail over 2 days old, but it still wants to download my 3300+ emails in my IMAP Inbox. I've read the manual, but can't figure out how to overcome this. Any thoughts? If you want to PM me, feel free.

Use WEbIS mail 2.11 or Q Mail.....I use Q-Mail....it is the best.....tried Profimail but no good as compared to these.
Hi
As we seem to have warmed up the mail topic is there any solution to an old problem of mine?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=80049#80049
MDAIIIUser,
A simple solution to your problem is a carrier pigeon. Hahahahaha. oooh, too much coffee.
I found that an IMAP email service works best. I use linuxmail.org. If offers great spam filtering (sometimes too good) and since they offer IMAP as well as POP (which I never use) I can get the same mail at my office, home, PDA, brother's house, guest computer....anywhere. Dump the activesync and outlook/smtp idea and try imap. Linuxmail.org, also has the ability to check POP servers for mail.
I just thought having an imap server might work better for you than regular POP. Linuxmail.org is $25/year, but I'm sure there are others.

Tom
Do I read you in the way that linuxmail.org will pick up my mail at pop.mypopmail.com and I will pick up this mail from them, thus I keep [email protected].
You see I am not looking for a [email protected]
dig ? or was that to short?

Oh, I dig Honeybunny. I'm totally down with that. Yo, yo... (I really need to stop drinking so much coffee).
Linuxmail.org (or others...I just run Linux hence my reason for this) can go out, pick up my email from gmail, yahoo, (not sure about hotmail...rememeber linux-user) and put it into my Linuxmail account. Since you're using an STMP account from say, Google, you can always sendmail thru that service. Check on Linuxmail, send on Google. The only downside with that is you won't be able to keep a copy of your sent mail on your IMAP.
This company looks pretty good too: http://1300.runbox.com/ I might test them out, but I don't want to ditch my linuxmail account. Take a look at them.
Tom
One other quick note...for work, we have an IMAP server and I have a Tmobile account for email as well. When I'm traveling (I'll be in the UK June 19th if anyone wants to get together) I can get email from my IMAP server and I will send via my Tmobile account. Tmo has a feature where you specify your email (say, acme.com) and when I send mail on my i-mate it goes thru the Tmo service, but you would see it as [email protected] instead of [email protected]. Its pretty cool.
I'm not too keen on Messaging because it won't allow me to send without receiving first....which is just really, really stupid. I use WebIS Mail to just shoot out an email to someone via the Tmo service. WebIS Mail has got it's own set of issues that I'm trying to deal with now.
Food for thought. Feel free to PM me if you want. I can call ya too.
Tom
hmmmm, I have solved it in a different way ...
mostly due to often accessing my mail from different locations and at the same time willing to keep my mail in one place safe, easy for download ...... I decided to invest in piece of hardware called Linux based Toshiba Magnia SG20 being among other very clever email server for both POP3 and IMAP mail service, ok it was an expense .... but finally now I can access my mail from virtually everywhere and have my mail traffic and storage off the computer I currently use, I can download necessary mail and respond easily, synchronization is no longer an issue with WebIS Mail ;-))
I made my work's IMAP server from an PIII800, 40GB drive, and 1GB RAM. I installed SuSE 9.0 and Cyrus IMAP, Postfix, spamassassin, Sendmail, etc... Cost=$90 and I can access it from anywhere in the world. The computer was an employee's computer which was upgraded. I was going to toss it, but decided to make a mailserver out of it. SuSE was already installed on my work computer, so it really didn't cost me much.
I have to admit, the Toshiba looks interesting. Too bad they don't make it anymore.
While I can take a new Mini Mac and do the same thing for about $500 on a personal level, it's really not worth spending that much time for a personal email server. I'm happy with third party providers.
WebIS is still not running well, so I dumped it and I'm sticking with Messaging. I tried ProfiMail and that had some drawbacks as well.
Tom
Boys and thier toys, 1 gig memory, bit of overkill or not. <Grin>.
Sure its a solution, ms exchange with active sync would work fine for me to, oh yes and my own domain, mx record and a fix ip.... but...
Not all of use are teck heads. No offence but should there not be a solution for say USD 29.95.
Anyway Webis lets you move sent items to a different folder (as in to the active sync folder). Now will have to play with that, work out how to set webis as default mail app. I have now set up up a pop account/folder and that option has gone. Find my sms and waste a lot of time to end up junking it. Oh well what else to do untill a new rom comes out. Still think it sucks unless you are a corparate user with all that nice infra.
Thanks tom
Could someone recommend me an email client that does imap and it's posibble to set on which days of the week from when till when and how often to check for mail automatically?

Instead of a fixed IP, you could run DynDNS like I do. It tracks your current IP and reroutes everything to your computer. I have cable internet, so my IP changes every couple months, or after a power outage. Your DNS and MX would point to DynDNS and DynDNS would route folks to you. It's a pretty sweet setup.

I completely agree...about the tech heads. Someone should make something more simple, but I think the expense would be too high since it entails a complete computer system. Linux has an email server built into it while Windows does not, but then you have downsides to using Linux as well.

I rarely use Activesync so setting up my email for that is pointless. When I want to send an email, I want to send it now...not when I can get to my computer to run activesync. You should try finding a email company that has an IMAP server. Once you have that, you'll never want POP again.

If you're talking about doing it on your pda, it's not going to happen. You can set email programs to check every x minutes, but that's about it. If you have your gprs on 24 hours a day, then it might be possible, but otherwise I don't see this as an option with the 3 email programs I've played with (Messaging, WebIS Mail, ProfiMail).
Tom
Ok, so I up the e-mail stream without a paddle.
BTW, The Activesyn I only use to get the contents of my mail box of my Laptop and on to my device. I send mail over wifi on the pop acoount (then have to copy the sent item to the activesycn folder, then sync to get it on the laptop)
I was aware about the DynDNS, won't help my much live between to families, two households and the only thing fixed in my life is the tel number of my Phone and the fact I have a laptop, so no space for hardware that cant be baged in a minute.
So Looks like I need to get my own mymail.com address and some hosting that gives me IMAP.
With all that done still have not found a good E-mail client. (q-mail?)
What was the thread on that subject ???? <GRIN>
Email anytiMe is possible.
yes! Download email any day and anytime without gprs on is possible. Use npop freeware and set it to download email upon execution theN use powerstart Shareware to schedule it to exeCute npop at any day and what time as you like. it will Connect gprs then download then disconnect, perfect!
testdebug
Googled Powerstart and got to many hits, have a homepage were I read what the app does? Found npop.
testdebug,
Keep in mind the question was IMAP, not POP. Will it work on IMAP?
Thanks,
Tom
I have a new AT&T Tilt, straight out of the box with no modifications. I have it set up to track my Yahoo email account and my AIM account. However, both of them have big problems updating. On AIM, it takes almost a half-hour to receive or send a message after the message is actually sent. The email client is also telling me there are no new emails, even though I actually received emails in that account over four hours ago. I'm using the default IM client for AIM, because I have unlimited SMS with my plan, and I need to have AIM open all the time and be able to receive IMs even when the phone is asleep. I don't see why it should take this long regardless, considering I have three (or at least two) bars on EDGE at all times.
Does anyone else have this problem and/or know how to fix it, is possible? I need to be able to send and receive IMs and e-mails instantly at any time, and if the Tilt can't do that, then I need to find a different phone, which is a shame, because I really like the other features and the phone in general.
are you paying for your internet service?
Yes, I have a plan with unlimited data and SMS.
What is the deal with this phone? I just sent an email and it arrived over three hours later. I am required to have working email for my job, and this can hardly be considered working. What is wrong here? I don't see how all the other working professionals here can possibly be accepting of this and still consider it a good phone if it can't even handle simple email and IM. This is insane, considering no other phone offered by AT&T has this many useful features, and if I have to replace this phone it will certainly be a downgrade.
I don't think anyone else is having the same problems as you, which is why you're not finding anyone agree with your complaints.
Usually if you send an email and it arrives late, it's usually because of etiher the sending or receiving mail server, not because of the sending device. I have confidence that the email got from your phone to the email server just fine, and in a very reasonable amount of time.
Also, is there no 3G in your area?
AIM (instant messaging, not email) has always been delayed on all of the windows mobile devices I have used over the years (& on both Tmobile & at&t).
ATT is much faster than Tmob, but there is still a huge delay. That's why I stopped using IM'ing altogether.
As for emails, I set up an exchange email address on my website because for the last couple of weeks I have been unable to send or receive any emails through my AOL account. I have been going back & forth with AOL's tech support this whole time. My emails worked for a just one day during this whole time, & hasnt worked since! Whenever somebody emails me it tells them my mailbox is full even though I only have 29 emails! I erased all of the messages in my spam, sent & trash folders & still nothing. My AOL is what I have been using for many years for everything, its even on my website & all of my business card!
No as for the delayed messages, you may want to look into Push mail (using an exchange server). Do a search for it here & you'll see there are quite a few solutions (some free, some not). Push mail is essentially "instant" if you set it up that way & have decent reception.
I don't see how there could be problems with the email server, I'm using Yahoo mail, and I can send/receive emails fine with my PC, but if I email someone from my phone it take hours for them to get it, and if I receive an email, it takes hours for it to show up on the phone (though it still appears in my inbox instantly if I access it from my PC).
DJayRage, I'm not talking about delayed IMs, I'm talking about it would be FASTER for me to get in my car, drive across the state and tell them personally.
Also, I was told there was 3G in my area, but whenever I scan for service it auto-connects to EDGE, so I assume that's not the case.
I wish I could blame this on something other than my phone, but when it doesn't work, and nobody else is having this problem, I don't see what else there is to blame. Everything on my phone is stock. I'm using the Xpress mail thing or whatever it's called, and the 3-in-1 IM client that comes with the phone, so there aren't any 3rd party mods or anything that could be interfering.
Oh that may be your problem (Xpress mail). When I purchased my Tilt a couple of month's ago the ATT salesman told me not to use it because they've had nothing but problems with it. He wasn't specific, & I didn't ask what problems they were having. I use the built in mail app & that works fine for me. I get my Gmail, my Push mail & my AOL (when it's working) through there with no problems.
How do I do that? On the phone and in the instruction manual it said I needed to get the Xpress mail to check my yahoo mail. Also, do you think that using the built-in AIM client is what is causing the slowness, and that a 3-rd party app would work better?
Click on the envelope button on the button right hand side of your device. That opens up the default WM messaging application.
Once in there click menu - tools - new account. That's where you setup your accounts & options (since you want your emails sent & received as quickly as possible make sure to select "send & receive every 5 minutes". Also check off the the box in adanced settings that says "send mail when I click send" or something like that). Those options may drain your battery faster but that's about as quick as you can get emails, short of using a PC or setting up a Push Mail type account.
I never even opened up the manual that came with my Tilt. Any questions I had with my device I found answers for them here by searching (hint...)
Have you checked if you have 3G in your area?
I've yet to use the AIM app on my Tilt so I can't help you with that. Everytime I log-in to AIM I get random rappers spamming me trying to get me to check out their music.
How do I check if I have 3G in my area? Whenever I connect to the internet and it says searching for EDGE/3G, it always just connects to EDGE, so I assumed I don't get 3G. It's actually weird because other people have told me that we do get 3G around here.
Where are you located? You can check here to see if your area has 3G

When I push the envelope button, it brings me to the same thing it brings me for my old email account. There is no Tools option in the menu, and when I click the new account button on the screen, it gives me the same setup I went through to set up my current account after installing the xpress mail thing. There is also no option in the options menu for the s&r every 5 mins or the other thing, either.

Sorry for the delayed response but I'm still not getting my aol emails, which is what I registered on here with. Can you install Capsure (free app that you will find here with a quick search) & send me a screen shot of what your email inbox looks like? I never used Xpress mail, but it sounds like Xpress Mail took over the Envelope button so it goes there instead of the WM6 Inbox (default).
You may try reassinging it start > settings > personal > buttons > (mine shows button 2 assigned to "messaging", what does yours show?).
PS my email address that you can send the screen shot to is rage at djayrage.com
By the way there's an ATT store by my job & the sales guys come into the building I work at all the time (dropping off phones to clients) so I asked one of the them the other day more details about Xpress Mail (this was the same guy that sold me my phone & told me NOT TO use Xpress Mail).
He said Xpress Mail fetches your emails, stores it somewhere on ATT's server's, & then eventually "pushes" it to your device. (Opposite operation for emails being sent). So that may be what is causing the lengthy delays. You may have new emails sitting in your email providers inbox, but they may not be on Xpress Mail's servers yet.
Just use the default Messaging application & cut out the middle man (Xpress Mail).
Well, it was set to messaging, so I guess it wasn't using Xpress Mail after all, regardless, I uninstalled Xpress Mail, deleted my email account, and added it again, so hopefully it will work better this time.
I will also try IM+ as well and see if it works better.
Any updates? How's your emails working now?
It's taken me a while but now I am convinced that no matter if I have my Fuze connected to charger or not, every morning is it hung up on email "disconnecting" and I usually have to soft boot. Sometimes I can change applications, sometimes it won't let me, to cause the email program to resume. I have it set to periodically check my email every 2 hours, and it does get some email, but then hangs and doesn't get the rest until I can un-hang it. Anyone know what the problem is? I'm using the original ROM. TIA
Solution?
Did you ever find a solution for this?? I am having the same problem...
Regards,
Joao
No.
The only thing I can do is whenever I want to get email is to either reboot or sometimes I can force is to disconnect, select a different email account and try to log in.
May be,just may be, you have a 'bad' email(s) in your inbox. It affect the sync process.
I once had this problem with my windowslive live account, I cleaned my inbox and I wz able to sync normally.
This is just a probablilty,,,

Not likely. This has been going on for over 5 months, and I only store mail for 3 days. Sometimes I have to delete the account completely from the Fuze, and start over new. Then it will work for a while. Very frustrating, especially coming from Blackberrys which worked flawlessly for over 5 years.
by the mean 'inbox' i meant about server inbox,,,
well, blackberry sell its email service since 5 years ago, while WinMo OS introduced this pushmail service like,,, a year?
but still, we HTC owner deserve more
HTC: when beauty meets intelligence and power,
Blackberry: email, email, email, email, and prestige,,, LoL
(I'm an iPhone and BB hater LoL LoL, a lot of ppl in my country bought those devices only for its prestige,,,sigh)

I know you meant server inbox. But, if I make a new, identical account, it works, even though I make no changes to the server, so I do not think it is anything on the server.

I am not using any "push mail" service. I simply have the HTC poll the different email servers to see if there is any email at a preset periodic time. It usually "hangs" on the same account, even though I have two accounts on the same server. But, I do poll the "problem account" more frequently than the other account, so it may just be the law of probabilities. In any case it is quite frustrating, especially since is seems you and I are the only ones with this problem.
Actually, my problem is a bit different than yours, my phone was never 'give up' on retreiving emails from google and yahoo (which use IMAP4 idle connection). It just has an issue with live account sync.
And the problem was solved (by cleaning my live inbox)
I googled about this winlive issue, and turned out I have lots of comrades LoL
Hello all,
I've now had my TP for almost 3 months and am truly loving it. As you might know, I was a TOTAL noob to WinMo, and in regards to some of the more advanced things, I still am.
This brings me to my topic:
I would like to know if Microsoft Outlook allows for "Push" e-mail on to the TP. If not, what recommended E-mail systems are out there that can push to the TP (i.e. gmail, hotmail, yahoo)?
I am currently using Comcast, and was considering going the Mail2Web route, but it seemed too confusing...I know, I'm a moron. (As for "Seven", I've heard it's not yet stable and it severly taxes the battery.) As such, if anybody who has had success with Mail2Web and the Touch Pro, would you mind posting (or PMing) "step-by-step" instructions on how you got it working?
In either case, I also ask the more experienced people if you can either tell me or direct me to a site which explains the whole concept of Outlook, Exchange, and other elements of Push e-mail.
Thank you in advance,
- WildAce786.

I've heard it's not stable yet in that there is a delay in receiving E-mails and that it places a large drain on your battery.

Although it is still in a beta stage I don't think it unstable at all and emails at least for me being pushed from gmail come within 2 seconds. I can't disagree that it will take a toll on your battery but that's the price we pay for push email. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd also be glad to know.

Hello all,
I've now had my TP for almost 3 months and am truly loving it. As you might know, I was a TOTAL noob to WinMo, and in regards to some of the more advanced things, I still am.
This brings me to my topic:
I would like to know if Microsoft Outlook allows for "Push" e-mail on to the TP. If not, what recommended E-mail systems are out there that can push to the TP (i.e. gmail, hotmail, yahoo)?
.... As such, if anybody who has had success with Mail2Web and the Touch Pro, would you mind posting (or PMing) "step-by-step" instructions on how you got it working?
In either case, I also ask the more experienced people if you can either tell me or direct me to a site which explains the whole concept of Outlook, Exchange, and other elements of Push e-mail.
Thank you in advance,
- WildAce786.

I use Mail2Web. It's easy to setup, just go to Activesync and add a server and use:
[email protected] (as the username)
ur password
and skip the auto detect the server step and use:
mobile.exchange.mail2web.com (as the server)
**Note-I don't use mail2web as my email, I use gmail. And what I did was set my gmail account to foward to the mail2web account, so I get the emails pushed from both. However, the outgoing email address it shows, when I send a message is the mail2web account.
I've been using this for a while, and it works pretty good. I get email notifications pretty much instantly with this setup, and also syncs my contacts, calendar and tasks online for easy backing up

I would like to keep 3rd party sources as a second option.
First, I would like to know if Microsoft Outlook has the ability to Push E-mail to the TP without severly draining the battery.
Now, if that is not an option, then I would like some clarification on the Mail2Web process.
1) Do I need to register with mail2web first?
2) When you said
go to Activesync and add a server

, where exactly is Activesync located and how can I go about adding a server to it?
I know I sound like a moron, but that's because in this matter, I am.
another option is EMOZE. Its a good alternative to seven if you just care about emails. it really dont do the contacts too well and calendar not at all. again good app if you just care about getting your gmail emails....
Well, after a lot of searching, I went ahead with steb0ne's idea of using Mail2Web LIVE. So far it works great, especially since I've set all my comcast e-mails to autoforward to the M2W account so I can receive them "instantly" as well.
I do have a few concerns though that maybe a few of you guys can address:
1) How does Direct Push actually work? Does it establish a connection every so often looking for new messages?
2) Generally speaking, how much battery life does it drain during the course of a normal 8-hour day if I keep Direct Push active in the Comm. Manager?
3) How good is M2W at keeping SPAM messages away?
I have used seven, mail2web, and the sprint mobile email app. I prefer mail2web over the others. The sprint app is based on the seven email program, but only allows for one email address.
With the seven program I have noticed a noticeable lag in receiving my email. I have sent an email to the an account, received in on my desktop and still dont get it for up to 10min on my phone. With Mail2web I usually get it on my phone before the computer, also the online system they use will save all of your contacts, calender so you can access it from your phone or computer, as well as have an easy backup if you lose your phone, or do a hard reset.
So if I use seven, which they and Sprint say my TP is not supported, does it still send from my email addy or some seven.com email?
for me its all but useless to just get email if I cant send it.
when i try to set up active sync i put details in , user pass server, there is a field "domain" which i cannot get past unless i put something in it , trying to use mobipush and their directions are to leave domain blank but if i do i cant progress on my screen the next button wont highlight, any ideas
Hey all,
just upgraded from a Note2 to the Xperia Z.
I've been trying to setup my Exchange email for over an hour without success,
I've got it setup on the note2 working fine and notifying when mails are coming in. So settings seem right, but it won't budge on the Xperia Z, I know google talked about ending support for Exchange, but surely if it's working on my current phone, why not work on my new phone?
Settings being used.

i've tried everything i can think of, while my other phone is quite happily notifying me of emails coming in, i really don't understand what i'm doing wrong here, surely Google aren't stopping my new phone, but allowing my old phone? If so thats a bit rubbish.
Any and all help welcome, thanks
Luke.
Same here. I have switched to android 2 weeks ago from iphone. On iphone i was getting e-mail notifications from google instantly when message was received on google server for few last years. Now it is not so good. I have checked now set up instructions for google sync and it says that it is for Google apps for business, education and government users. It was free for all before. It is free for all old users though but it seems that when you switch phones while using same gmail account, it does not transfer. Notifications on my ipad are still instant.
Why do you use exchange instead of the Gmail app?

One reason especially on my old Samsung was that it displayed emails in a better format, as gmail used to have a stupid limit to the zoom meaning i had to scroll left to right on emails and it was bloody annoying. Also i find Exchange is near instant on arrival, while gmail is anywhere from instant to 5 minutes late.
If this is the scheme of new phones no longer working on exchange i'm pretty pissed off with google.
