Best ROM for Kaiser? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hello!
I just got a Kaiser and I've decided to install a ROM on it.
But there's so many different ROMs for the Kaiser, so which one(s) is considered among "the best"?
It should be english and work in Denmark (I'm not sure if that matters).
Thanks,
Jesper

That's like asking what the best car is - it depends what you use it for!
This exact question (possibly not the Denmark bit) has been asked lots and generally now meets with a slightly annoyed reaction. Best suggestion is to look through each of the ROMs out there, see what sounds interesting and try it out. After a try, test another and so on until you find the style that suits your needs best.
Just for goodness sake make sure you install Hard SPL before you flash your first ROM or you'll brick your phone!!!
Good luck.

Yeah, for some reason I didn't think that this must have been asked 60 million times before Sorry about that!
I was thinking some ROM based on WM6.1 that's a fast and stable as possible without too much extra software.

How about the Excalibur Rom which someone bricked their phone with recently - at least we won't get any more Which is the Best new threads because the phone won't work anymore...

Duttys Roms

Hi all,
Sorry to be so demanding in my first couple of posts but I have another quick question. I currently have a Vodafone v1615 on which I am considering installing Duttys latest ROM but had a couple of quick questions of someone could help me:
Does this and other ROMs work fine with non-standard HTC Kaisers (for example the vodafone branded v1615?
Do I need to take a backup of my current ROM incase the phone develops a fault in the next 12 months and if so how do I go about this?
Finally, I have installed quick a few ROMs and have the phone setup how I like it but cant help being tempted by the increase of speed offered. Is it really that much of an improvement over standard roms?
Thanks,
Michael

You could search the Stickys and The WIKIs. They cover all your answers. And Is it an improvement over Standard ROMs. Hell to the Yes. I won't want to use a Stock ROM.
P.S. I hope its a typo But When you say you installed a few QuickROM i think you meant CABs. Good to know the difference here.
u can always flash it back to stock in case anything goes wrong
I can't comment on the V1615, but I had a V1605 (Hermes) and that unlocked (CID and SIM) fine and I tried every rom going without problems. There are also quite a few posts from people with the V1615 so I think you're ok. Anyway, as bapssystupr3m3 says, you can always return to stock rom.
I'm using one of Duttys ROMs on my v1615 and i wouldnt dream of going back, its a huge improvement

Receiving my Diamond shortly, what tweaks etc should I apply?

Should be receiving my Diamond Monday. The information on the site is somewhat overwhelming lol. Anyone recommend essential tweaks, applications etc. Thanks!
I'm in the same situation as you.... will receive my Diamond next week and have been reading for 2 days everywhere on the net but mainly here... still i have some questions like you? mayby iäm slow or something ;-) Hope you don't mind me asking some Newbie questions here too...
- If i decide to use to official Rom in my phone can i tweak my phone to the same performance as when i use for example Duttys rom? if the answer is Yes the next question is whats the difference then if i add all the programs to?
(Scared of bricking my new Juwel) ;-)
-could someone point out the benefits/downsides with keeping official rom vs a custom one.
Hope that you don't have anything against that i hijacked your thread abit plbe if so let me know and i will remove the questions. Just that i'm sure many people here allready know the answers to our questions and i don't want to use more space than nessesarry ...
Thanks!

Well, the official ROM is usually somewhat slower and could have some 'problems' diamond users experience. Although sometimes an official update is available which could solve some stuff.
The main advantage of using a custom rom is that it's pre-tweaked. Has some tweaks you cannot get unless you flash a new ROM (so the tweaks are in the ROM itself). Take a different pagepool for example. Try and do a search about what that it.
Usually a new ROM also combines a set of the newest software from HTC. So the newest keyboard app from another HTC update, the new TouchFlo from somewhere else. And that combined gives you the latest software and tweaks.
Also, when you dont like touchflo 3d for example, there are custom roms that have removed that. And perhaps remove all other 'extra' software as well. Those are the so called 'light' roms. Those give you max memory and max speed (if possible) at the cost of less applications running thus removing certain functions. You can then add those functions as you please. So you don't end up with a phone that has stuff for 20 things, while you would only need 8 or something (just a random example).
In the case of the TouchFlo3D, if you dont like that and want something else as your today screen you want to get rid of it to free up some memory!
In all my experience with a lot of HTC phones, the 'best' roms were always custom ones. But it's getting harder and harder to see what's good and what's not. As you have probably seen already there are a lot of roms out there for the Diamond. I can only suggest you go and read what the differences seem to be between the roms.
Also read the comments on the roms and try to get some understanding of the changes made to the different versions.
Try to remember though (and this is always the nasty part) you can remove your warranty by flashing another ROM. Also (with the diamond in rare cases) you could 'brick' your phone. Which is no more than a failed update which makes your device unusable. I must say, with the Diamond that almost seems impossible when you just flash normal custom roms. But the 'risk' is always there in some way.
Read about the correct hard spl when you want to flash (need that one before you can flash a new rom, the hard spl unlocks your phone for custom roms). That would be the first step anyway.
And well, after all this info which isn't a lot at all (but it is!) and might or might not help you, the ROM I use is: Duttys V3.6b Final, the 12mb pagepool version.
You can find it here.
Read the howto flash part! It's in the second post all the way below the changelogs.
Obviously everyone has their favourite rom they use, and they all say theirs is the best. So you should really find that out yourself.
In every rom thread you will find things like 'I tried a lot of roms, but yours is the best!'. Try em out yourself and let you be the judge of that. Just take some time to try them out and see what you think is important in a ROM.
Thanks... answered my questions
Thanks alot for your answers it made it all clear for me now... !!
Now i only have to wait for my diamond ... and i have to say this Forum makes the Diamond even more usefull and valuable...
Thanks again...
Is there a preferred custom ROM amongst users here? BTW, which tweak program are you referring to? I've seen quite a few on here? Thanks.
i would def load the "background on all tab pages" tweak...this allows you to have your Home wallpaper on all the other tab pages.

That's what I've been doing for the past couple of hours lol. Some of these threads are HUGE. I still cannot decide which one to try. Looking at the radio bits too. Also curious about landscape keyboard. From what I understand...keyboard is only available in portrait mode but there are some fixes for that?

Is that part of that Advanced Config application?
"What Custom Rom is the best" and "What tweaks should I use" are both very subjective so we don't allow them for this reason.
Best recommendation I (or anyone) can give is to read about the things you think you want to use and ask for clarification in those threads.

Stok vs custom ROM

Hello, couple of days ago i moved back to windows mobile and bought a HD...So far i have flashed the latest stock ROM, Dutty's 2.3,Touch of HD 3.4.2, wm 6.5 version ..... and I would say the stock ROM is the best so far
Other options ? Any ideas which is the most used rom ?
Regards,
A
the roms we use, are the ones we like. you need to run the one you like
you wont get a vote here on "whose is the best rom?"
didn't ask whose rom is the best....i asked what is the rom that most of you use and maybe why...I don't want any vote....I don't think any chief would mind hearing opinions about their roms....Might help em gettin better .....Anyways, if the staff thinks that my question is wrong...the thread can be trashed

i use win 6.5 miri xtralight with winterface.

I think the 2 most common rom's used (correct me if I'm wrong) are Duttys & Laurentius26
Dutty has a number of rom's released with varied reports on each so its best to read each thread and make up your own opinion. Personally the best thing you could do is flash a rom, try it out and make your own opinion. I have flash3ed countless rom's and still haven't found the perfect one!

It depends which criteria you have. On rom is stable, another have more functions another a nicer interface another is faster another has more free space.
Write down your own criteria and check which ROM is the best for. Most of the users here are still searching (see Fallen Spartan)

Me too. I am back to stock, although I did compress manilla textures in it.
Even tried many radios, but back to stock radio as well.
Great thing are done with roms here, but they have IMHO to many oddities.
Still, HTC could learn a trick or two overhere....
I did flash my Elf (Old Touch) with a mature cooked rom, and I am happy with that.
No doubt there will be great Touch HD roms here, when I have bought my Pro2
I have also tried Laurentius26 ROM.It has a lot of features that i like (big start menu...i mean very big :-D)....but also found some bugs (i fixed one)...It's very fast and i like that
Duttys is a little to slow...i think...
I will flash right now the xtralight version of miri's 6.5 wm (now that viczena said that it's fast)
Greetings from Romania,

Very very duummm question? Or is it, where can i get Stock WM 6.1, i flashed mine, and i dont know wich one to use, they are all great, so i am heading back to original? So if you could please help me.
Well i'm just going along with whatever roms come out, so far tryed 6 of them a week apart, about same. I'm sticking now to 1 new rom a month.
Nice looking rom
So could you please tell me if there is any rom with nice interface? I've tried most of Duty's , MaryOne and much more, but I can't find any which has cool TF3D, every tab backgrund (I don't want to spend half of my day to resize a picture just to make a background for every tabs).
P.S. Sorry for my english

Any recomendations for upgrading the rom on an Orange UK Touch HD?

Morning everyone,
I'm looking to get a Touch HD in the next week or so, but I'm limited to getting it on Orange UK.
I've read that Orange have (as usual) totally screwed the rom by adding their own crap to it.
So, can anyone recommended a cooked rom ? Does it make much difference based on network or not (I'm guessing not?)...

There several excellant ROMS available each with a slightly different approach it really depends on what your preferences are, NRGZ28, Duttys, Miri are all great have a look in there threads and do a bit of reading before you jump in the threads show what the ROMS perform like and each thread has what is called a changelog at the beginning so you cna see what is included etc.
Flashing first time may seem complicated but it is really simple have a look at the guide in my signature and everyone here is more than happy too help with any questions you may have.
Flashing ROMS wont affect your network
I'm also an Orange Uk user and can assure you, you will not regret flashing a cooked rom. Personally I would recommend one of Dutty's 6.5 roms but as Ozmoran said; check out your options first and don't be afraid to ask for help if you can't find what you're looking for.
Oh and welcome to flashaholics anonymous
I too have a orange HD but unlike the above two posters, I joined the miri bandwagon.
Tbh, no-one can tell you what the best one is. It really depends on what you want from your device but we'll all agree that a cooked ROM is far better than a stock one.
Good luck with it all.
I took the plunge on friday night and flashed my orange HD for the first time. I chose NRGZ28`s latest WM6.5 Titanium only Energy ROM.(I do not like Manilla) Used it all weekend and oh boy what an improvemet. It looks better, its a lot quicker and smoother.Wish i had upgraded it weeks ago!

I like the darkside, far more fun that all that sunlight stuff. . .
Thanks to everyone for their input, just to confuse things I checked on our system this morning and there was the touch HD. Logged back on at 12:30 to order and it had gone to be replaced by the touch diamond HD ?
As far as I know there isn't a diamond HD, but I guess they mean the the diamond 2 (which is the Topaz isn't it?).
So, the question now is, is this as good as the touch HD? I know its got a bit smaller screen but with the same res. The spec looks very close and I see (if it is the Topaz) there a cooked roms here for it...
Do I lose anything by getting one of those instead ?
This is fast becoming an opinionated thread which creates a long thread and is thus frowned upon. As everyone has different tastes, only solution and best solution is to make your own opinon and try a few.

Confusion about all these newly released Roms...

Hi, I'm totally confused with all these new roms being released by multiple people. Do these reap any benefits? are they customized roms? are there new themes or something like the android roms and old WM phone roms? Sorry for the newb-like question, I just wanted to get things straightened out because they SEEM to be like factory ROMs but in diff languages or something?

I totaly agree with you... it's extremly confusing. I've got a HD7 from O2 Germany, but I'm on t-mobile. The reception of my O2-HD7 is very poor compared to my old HD2, so I would like to switch from the O2-ROM to HTC-Europe version with the newest radio-ROM.... but those threads are so extremly confusing... I don't realy know what EXACTLY to do... flash this, than falsh that... and after that flash this... ;-)

There you go with that whining crack again. WTF is wrong with you? Be more helpful or STFU.
Agree with you guys .. they are confusing that I dont even wanna try
But Yeah I am flash junkie with Android, so many tutorials and so easily done.
Am on O2 UK , but I guess I wait and see what the Official updates bring to us before experimenting with these custom roms.
I so love my BIG HD 7
+1 here.
With WinMo, I could even flash an Android rom and feel comfortable doing it.
With the HD7, just looking at the numbers of schubert roms, I hardly know which one to pick. And if I do pick one, I'm really afraid to even try it. Or if there really is a need to even try it.
But I can understand the enthusiasm of the guys doing the efforts of sharing these roms. It's just that some guys (like myself) are not really that much literate.
And what your doing isnt whining?
There was a point where i looked at it and said **** that. Too much crap there.
But once i sat down and read it properly. It was easy.
I somewhat agree with evolution, they are not difficult to understand if you take your time.
Nevertheless, I think fear & lack of knowledge/experience prevents most people from actually trying them or even bothering to read the whole thing, especially ao for people who have not done this before, I can see how it gets confusing.
I think well organized and newb-friendly threads will definitely make them very popular very quickly..
yeah yeah yeah, read this read that..... all i see on these threads is flash this to get 02UK whatever.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=876451
I dont see them writing the purpose to flashing these ROMs, you must be confused with my question about "how to flash" vs "the purpose of flashing"
I mean, in the android forums, or the older winmo forums, u can see that they flashed the phone to get some new flashy OS's or to fix out old bugs.
I'm with Goku here. I think it would help people to know what to expect when they flash a rom. Say "if you flash THIS you'll get THESE; 1.), 2.), etc.."
From that list it's like, "flash this rom & find out for yourselves what it'll do to your device." Or if this is the case, at least let it say it is.
all people are getting is updated firmware and radio ware.
Its not custom or anything its just updated software.
Thank you evo =]
One more question, what are the advantages to these updated firmwares and radio's?
Firmware update from HTC and a new Radio.
Theres only a few firmware roms. Most of them just have different radios for you to choose.
The latest O2 Rom i have now has weaker reception but reasonably better battery life than with the stock one.
As i said these roms contain the exact stuff as your one that came from the factory only with different firmware and radio. Radio is the main difference. Other than that i didnt see any performance improvements or anything.
ty evo, that clears up a lot =]
so radio's change signal settings with your provider, correct?
Well finaly someone is making sense, lol .
I was lost too, glad i didnt flash my phone .
One thing this dose not say are these offical so called ROM's Firmware what ever there called
can I flash the phone and use it as if I had it out of the shop, in other words can I play games and buy appllications (NOT JAILBROKE)
