Hi All
What is Internet Sharing? is it a program? I cant find this on my ATT Tilt. Can someone explain or direct me how to use internet sharing?? Thanks
Did you even use the Search button??? A simple query of Internet Sharing on the Tilt brought back 10 pages of results, & a ton of them would of pointed you to the solution. Don't be lazy! This is a community & as such certain thing are expected of it's members.
Here you go, your one & only spoon feeding.

It's hidden by AT&T. You can find the .exe in \windows. Copy it & paste a shortcut in \windows\start menu\programs.
Now wipe your chin.
Don’t mind the abrasive Yank (lol). Internet sharing simply allows you to share your internet connection on your Kaiser with your laptop/computer. It is perfect for those who have unlimited data (like me).
To use internet sharing, you have to connect your Kaiser via the supplied USB or Bluetooth. If you don’t have internal Bluetooth and are void of a Bluetooth adaptor, then the USB cable is the best way to share your Kaisers internet- and it also seems to be quicker!
Thanks for the spoon feeding yummy. Will search in the future.

Find and run the Internet Sharing program. May have to search the windows folder. Select USB or BT, select Media Net (works for me), press connect and than connect the phone to computer. Not sure about XP but Vista picks up the connection as soon as I plug in with USB. With BT you have to go to the PC and select BT PAN and than connect.
Should be that simple...

There have been numerous 'how to thread's but the search function is pretty
poor. I suggest you use internet sharing on your laptop/computer by using the USB cable, as the internet speeds are quicker.
1) Connect your Kaiser to your laptop/computer via the USB cable (which should have been supplied with your Kaiser)
2) Click on 'Start' then 'Programmes', then onto 'internet Sharing'.
3) Select 'USB Sharing' under the PC Connection type setting.
Then click on your web browser and you're good to go
This is how it works for me on a relatively new Windows Vista laptop with my MDA Vario III. I haven't tried it on my XP computer.
at0mAng & 246810, cheers, do you need activesync on ther pc? as i have tried the above with XP and it aint having it???
works great for me with a brand new laptop w/ XP and yes I do have activesync but it is disabled once you use ICS on your kaiser
digging up abit of an old issue here, but still cant get it to work?

Hi there, I could really use some help.
I had to reset my T Mobile Vario III and now when I try and sync it up to my pc, it can't even connect.
I get a "found new hardware" wizard and if I run that, I get this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
I can't see what the problem is as surely a hard reset takes it back to "just out of the box" condition? Therefore, I should be able to sync it up again as I did when I bought it......
......shouldn't I?
Any help most gratefully received.
BUMP
Anyone?
C'mon folks, I'm in pain here.
Just when I'd got it running nicely with some super progs and apps courtesy of my xda buddies, I did a hard reset for a particular reason and now I'm in PDA-limbo.
Everything else is working as per a regular hard reset, BTW.
So what's the prob? Do I need to download drivers or what?
The only thing I can think of is that the RNDIS driver on the PC has become corrupt or is missing.
All I can suggest is that you uninstall activesync from your PC, restart it and then re-install it if not with the very latest version which should be on the CD that came with your device. Restart your PC again and then and only then connect your VIII and see if the PC picks it up this time.
Good Luck and let us know your progress
C.
Thanks Stinkey, I'll try that when I get home (in the queue at the bank at the mo), hopefully it'll sort it out.
Either that or plug your sync cable into a different USB port, failing that (on yor PC whilst phone connected) go to Control panel, System, Hardware, Device manager and under Network adapters, uninstall the Windows Mobile-based device, then after that, unplug your phone then re-connect it. Try a PC restart if it does not connect after driver install.
Hope that works.
Thanks for the advice gents but sadly it's been to no avail.
Can anyone suggest a next approach?
BUMP.
Anybody able to help?
The fact that your PC is seeing your mobile as a different unit after a hard reset is a puzzle!
Are you using orig firmware or a cooked ROM?
Original.
Thinking about it, the problem didn't occur immediately after the reset.
I had it connected and synced up, then something happened - I can't remember what, either the pc timed out and went to standby or "the Mrs" had to log on to her side of the pc - and something got pi$$ed off along the line, hence these problems.
I'm thinking more that the pc is at fault somehow 'cos the Vario is working perfectly otherwise.
Then try a system restore to before the problem happened.
I have seen on other threads that one guy had a faulty usb cable and another had this problem when going thru a USB hub instead of direct to the PC.
Maybe the USB port you are using cannot supply enough current. The Kaiser starts to charge as soon as it connects and can drop out the USB port if it can't support it and this may start to happen at a later date if the USB port power supply circuit dies.
Guys,
need your help. Computers dont see my device even like usb device (i tried on several PCs). Normally windows flashes when see that usb device is connected, but in my case nothing is happenning. The same story with ActiveSync. PDA also just shows that battery is charging and doesnt show any signs that pc is connected. I've made several hard resets but it didnt help. Other functions work perfect. Please advice.
did you try a different cable? and check the usb port on your device

Yep, I did. I used different cables and tried on several computers. No success...
Go to start, settings, connections tab at the bottom. Click on USB to PC, uncheck advanced network funtionality. If it's uncheck try checking it. Also make sure that you have activesync version 4.5. If you are still unable to connect try disabling your windows firewall or norton, mcafee etc.
make sure Windows Mobile based device connectivity
is enabled in services.

I followed your advice and unchecked and checked it again. It didnt help. I also checked mcaffee, it doesnt conflict with activesync and before i didnt experience any problems with mcaffee and my pda connection. So the problem is not in win.firewall (disabled) and mcaffee. I use Activesync 4.5, build 5096. I think the problem is in my PDA, cause i tried to connect it to different computers and it wasnt recognized even as usb device as normally happens when you connect any usb device to pc.

if you dont see it, you may need to reinstall windows mobile device center
Did it ever connect?
Having the windows services started will not effect the device being detected as a USB device...it should at least show up in device manager.
If you have already tried this on several computers with several cables and have also tried unchecking the advanced USB functionality as described above, then I hate to say it but either you have no idea what you are doing (unlikely...as it's pretty simple to plug in a phone) or the phone is bad.
There are quite a few things that can stop the phone from Activesyncing properly....but not much that would prevent it from coming up in device manager.
You might want to try syncing over Bluetooth if your PC has it.

It worked perfect before, but recently ceased to communicate
You don't need that service... he is showing you a Vista machine and yours is XP.
And, as stated no running service is going to cause the device to not be seen via device manager, that is a low level hardware bus even before drivers for the device are installed (assuming the USB bus and host adapters work).
First work on getting it seen in device manager and then worry about how to get it to sync.
Check your USB port on the phone and see if the plastic core is straight across or curved down. If curved, the problem is likely the port itself.
If you have one of the HTC splitters that allows you to use headphones and charger simultaneously, try connecting via that.
i doubt its the usb port, im pretty positive its the service. My kaiser wont connect without the service under Vista. doesnt even show up as a generic device.

That is a service that is new to vista. XP doesn't have that service. But you are correct, mobile devices won't connect without it running in Vista.

Coming from a PC technician, test it with everything in McAfee disabled. Don't just assume there is no conflict because it doesn't report it. Although you said you tried it on several PC's so that would eliminate it as a suspect .
BTW, what changed when you noticed it was no longer connecting? New software, new ROM, etc... Is it still under warranty?
If there were no software changes preceding the problem, I'd go back and check the hardware possibilities. I can't think of anything that would disable the service unless you tried to run some type of system optimizer.
Hi,
This may help
> Start > Right click on My computer > Properties > Hardware (tab) > Device manager
It will open a list of devices , find USB controller ( Universal Serial Bus Controller )
Right click on it > Update ( or something like that ) . ( make sure your kaiser connected to pc through miniusb )
If it doesnt say anything about recognizing your kaiser. Try to delete (uninstall ) some ( or all ) of the items in USB controller ( above ) .
And then, update it again.
It worked for me most of the time when my pc dont recognize the device.
Goodluck

Hi,
I've searched the kaiser forum and found quite a few threads about wifi problems.
I got this problem as well and for my case, I found out that I lost wifi only when connecting to the PC. The reason is you can access the internet via usb connection to the PC and thus enabling wifi would probably make your kaiser become a router which should be avoided. So you won't have wifi while having usb connection to your PC.
Hope this can help solving some of the wifi issues. I've just got kaiser for 3 days now so this is as much as I've known.
cheers
somewhere in your activesync/windows mobile device center there should be an option to allow connections on the device when connecting to PC, my wifi works fine on my kaiser is connected to PC. or maybe thats not what ur askign for have trouble understanding your problem.(Does your PC lose the wifi or the device loses wifi)
It's the device that loses WiFi and I have also had this issue. If I disconnect the USB cable, WiFi becomes operational again.

I always lose wifi on Kaiser when Kaiser connects to PC. I don't know how to have wifi on Kaiser when the device connects to PC. As I explained, Kaiser should not have 2 connections to internet at the same time.
Can you have wifi on Kaiser working when it's connecting to PC?
Yes, you can

Anybody use their Tilt/Kaiser for obd2 crap? I'm thinking about picking up a bluetooth obd dongle to replace my cable, if there is away to do what I want on my tilt.
I'm interested in this too for use in my wife's G35x. I was playing with her iPhone the other day and noticed "Rev" in the apps store. With the correct cable, which you order from the company, this allows you to check/clear engine codes, view readouts of certain engine vitals, and other features. They might make an app for Windows as well, wouldn't hurt to contact em.

That is sweeeeet! and a great price too. I usually have my laptop in the passenger's seat so I can do logging and the cable always hangs between my legs, it really pisses me off.
I just ordered one. The only downside is I'll still have to use the laptop when I want to do wideband logging, but other than that it should be good to go. Now if I could just find a way to get openECU to work on WM6
http://www.qcontinuum.org/obdgauge/
i downloaded this software. tried using it with a bluetooth obd2 adapter, but they could not connect to each other. i believe it is because the software was developed over 3 years ago.
if anybody is willing to continue the work, the source codes are available on that website.

I use the OBD Gauge 1.3 from this site on my HTC Imagio (WM6.5) and a BT OBD II (Car-Pal) and it works great... Config BT OBD in BT Settings to use Com Port 2 (or any available Com Port), then tell OBD Gauge to use that Com Port from with in the program. A BT device selection screen will pop up to connect/reconnet to BT device when OBD Gauge tries to connect to it.
I'm using my phone for OBD1 stuff.
Inside the ECU (Honda EDM P28 with eCtune software) is a connector that has GND, +5V, TX and RX (TTL levels)
I mounted a BlueTooth module (Parallax Easy BT) to have it connected to my Kaiser at COM8.
The software uses this COM port to communicate with the ECU.
RPM, VSS, IAT, ECT, IGN, etc. etc. etc.
hi guys,
i'm driving '91. VW Corrado G60 and I think I have OBD1 so I was thinking if orthello could give me some more infos on how is he doing that diagnostics? could you add me on MSN jazzbolan (at) yahoo.com or gtalk tstampar(at)gmail.com?
I would apriciate your help
TNX!
I am now using OBDGauge on my AT&T Tilt, with a bluetooth OBD interface. I got the OBD device here: http://www.rklenka.com/index.php?id=store/news
I did discover the "New Outgoing Port" setting inside the Settings/Bluetooth folder. Click on COM ports. Select the device you wish to add (mine is called CBT). Hit next and select a COM port (I am using 5). I tested it in my truck, which is OBD2 and has a CAN bus. Eureka! It works! Make sure the com port you select in OBDGauge preferences is the same you assigned to the BT ELM interface, and it should connect and start scanning.
You do need to have something available to keep the display from shutting off. My plan is a cigarette lighter USB power adapter with my sync cable. I also need to find a mounting bracket...
True, it does not show mpg, but ODBMobile does. I am about to get a copy and stick it on my Tilt.
Use your PC's internet connection on your phone. No more pain of wasting your precious mobile data!
you need to have a PC with working internet connection and a rooted android device.
Making it happen:

2)Download, extract the attachment and Open android tool application file present in the extracted folder

3)click “Connect”. this will install the latest android package and the dependencies (busybox and redsocks) and SuperUser will ask you to allow “Usb tunnel”
make sure you allow it.
now you phone has an internet connection and you can use it just by minimising the USB Tunnel app...
to stop the service, just click on disconnect on your pc (android tool app) or stop service on USB Tunnel in your phone..
play store doesn't work
actually all google apps do not work

Not all PC's have that ability. Doubly so if your PC uses Wifi to connect to the internet since most Wifi cards can only either connect or be connected to and not both at once . Or like in my case where my PC's wifi card severely sucks and is barely usable to connect to the internet to begin with...I use my old Defy as my PC's Wifi now because my internal card is that bad (plus I can use a really long usb cord and get the phone closer to the router )
Defy runs CM10.1 -- its faster and more stable than ours with much better battery life (double cool). F Popeye's Chicken, Quarx is the shiznit....and Blechd0se and Maniac103 and Epsylon3...I'm sure there's more, but those are the main Defy devs I was exposed to.
/Defy has 3+ years of development behind it on a platform our devs would rather be working on (TI OMAP), that's why its better . I just had to clarify that so no one thinks I'm downing our devs. A few months on a new platform doesn't compete with a few years on a known platform.
//If anyone needs a cheap replacement phone, buy a Motorola Defy or Bravo. They're both built well and have a great dev supporting them, Quarx.
