Greetings everyone,
I have a Kaiser, that I would like to get insured, since I am with Tmobile US, and they do not offer this phone at the moment. Does anyone know any private company who will do insurance on it?
I have contacted Asurion Insurance company and they do not insure cell phones that are not purchased from cell phone carriers such as Tmobile and ATT.
Any suggestions will be helpful.
insurance for a cell phone???
so in case anything goes wrong? isnt that what warrenty is for?
OK smart ass! Warranty doesn't cover theft, loss, or physical damage.
lol i was just wondering...cuz i've never came across it before
I would check with SquareTrade.com. I got a 3 year warranty on my Tilt for $35.99.

What did you put in for a price on your tilt? I did mine for the retail at at&t and the insurance came to $65.99 and it will cost an additional 71.00 for the accidental damage insurance.
Do you know anyone who has made a claim with them? Insurance is great but if you have to jump through hoops to make a claim.
I put the price in as $299 since I have connections and can get a new Tilt for that price if necessary. I haven't made a cell phone claim with them yet, but I just went though getting my laser printer replaced and the process was quite painless.

LOL - I get Insurance free here in the UK on Orange.
Last year I got thro' 4 Trinity's!
The year before I had 7 C600's.
Most insurance replacements we're for faulty keypads granted - but I did drop quite a few in buckets of water/plaster as well. Without insurance I wouldn't have a phone.
Thanks for the squarerade link, Im getting my warranty for 199.99, thats the price i get my Tilt... and also I found this page with coupons!
http://www.retailmenot.com/view/squaretrade.com
got the 40 percent off coupon... total warranty for $14.39 wooo!
mmm wait... I thaught it includes coverage for missing items or something like that... I ll consider the warranty, becaues the price is unbeleivable

Who do you know to get a tilt for 199.99? I'll take two!
From what I understand coverage for loss or negligence ( which is up to interpretation ) is NOT covered!
"If Accidental Damage from Handling (ADH) Protection was purchased, the Service Agreement expands to include damage from liquid spills, item drops, or any other accidental damage. ADH coverage begins 30 days after purchase, and does not cover willful damage, negligent use, theft or loss. A $50 deductible applies on ADH-related claims. ADH is not offered on all items."

Another vote for Squaretrade here. When I picked my Tilt up on ebay I had no qualms about also getting the warranty from squaretrade, I've heard way too much positive things about them.
Excellent, I never knew this existed. I was very disappointed when I couldnt carry over insurance from my old phone.
Yay. I went to site and signed up for insurance. Added the accidental damage and went to that coupon site. Grabbed the 30 percent one since the 40 didnt work. Paid 45 bucks for piece of mind. Thanks man.
I am looking for Insurance not extended warranty. Insurance that will cover, theft, loss and etc. Squaretrade does not cover theft, and loss. It offers extended warranty.
Correct me if I am wrong!
Hey, I bought a policy with state farm for my apache for about $50 a year. Its a personal item policy and not linked with home owners insurance.
Scared about theft, why not try my software? Link at my sig...
Im sure many Kaiser users have my software already.. Any thoughts guys?

For me theft isn't a main concern, just loss or damage. I think the ability to kill the phone with the carrier is enough to deter theft.
Yeah I'm not worried about theft or loss b/c this phone is glued to me. That Ultimate Theft program makes no use if the person has no balls to get his phone back from the said location. I know that personally if someone tried to take my phone they'd have their arms broken in 16 1/2 differnt places and pimp slapped with my foot. I just need this for the occasional drop and stuff.

For anyone who added the black tie protection/insurance plan when they bought their nexus s from US, you can call and request a replacement battery. Also you can say that your battery cover's cracked/missing and they will send you another battery cover as well. all they did was confirm my shipping address and shipped it off the next day.
I just received both of them today in the mail (took 4 days).
Just thought id let any of you black tie members know before yall spend 30 bucks on the battery cover at http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Googel-Nexus-S-Battery-Door-p/smsng6098530.htm (note the minimum order of 2 but i guess you could always end up selling one)
Im not sure if you can get on the black tie protection if you havent already when you purchased the phone. its $10 a month but i might end up cancelling since I already received the replacements and i hear a lot of horror stories about the repair process when you have to send in the phone for repair.
You can cancel the Black Tie Protection? Normally I'd expect a pre-termination fee to be paid should you elect to cancel before the end of the program.

Did you get the battery? I was considering doing this as well, I just hate calling this stuff in. Is there an online form or anything like that?
I've got the Black tie, I had to have this phone insured somehow.
Do they make you send the old ones in? I'd do it just for an extra battery.
Nope they don't make you send it in. Yes I got it already. Took about four days to process and ship. Just tell them you broke your back cover because you dropped it and they'll send it to you. That's the great thing aabout accidental damage warranty.

yes it does. exactly the same as the normal battery cover.
My back cover got all f'ed up from trying to plasti dip my battery cover... so this is great news for sure!
Is there a certain number you call to get this done? Thanks!
Call the geek squad number you can find it online. Whoever you call they'll probably just end up transferring you to the right number
I figure the BB insurance it worth it. The phone is still quite pricey if you were to damage yours in the next few months.
Mine slid out of my pocket when I was driving an it knicked the corner of the phone.
Thanx for the info OP, i'll be calling this in tomorrow for sure!

You can cancel anytime. There is no "contract" when you sign up for the protection thus you can terminate your monthly charges whenever you want.
if someone have one extra battery cover and wants to sell it, please just PM me.

Just confirming black tie can be cancelled at any time with no charges for doing so. Surfing the Nexus S forums as I am hoping to get one soon.

Since I have legitimate problems with both my battery and back cover, I gave the Geek Squad 800 number a call. The first representative I spoke with sounded like he knew what he was doing. Unfortunately I needed the part number from my battery and was talking on my Nexus S. When I called back I spoke with another representative who seemed a bit incompetent. He said he placed the order for both parts but I would have to call them back in 7-10 days. I asked why I had to call back since the order was already placed. He was unable to give me a clear answer and mumbled something about having a bunch of orders and someone had to review the case. I nicely told him the case was very straightforward...my parts are bad, I'm entitled to new ones. He still gave me the runaround. Oh well. I'm sure I'll get my parts eventually...hopefully sooner rather than later.
Do you know if this can be on sell ?

Title says it all. I'm following this thread, no one from BBY US is answering, which is strange. Even more strange that BBY Canada was taking pre-orders, but no one at BBY US is saying a word about it.... I've got $100 worth of rewards certs to use, would like to take home a $100 Nexus 7 someday!
Any insight on this from all the Nexus nuts here?
Probably because US BBY can't charge $100 extra for N7s. Seriously, I haven't shopped BBY for years. There is simply no point shopping there. Obviously most ppl agree and BBY sees great profit loss and laid off huge amount of employees recently.
I find their service in local stores to be great and prefer getting tablets and phones from them due to 30 day return and no hastles.

That's why it's called Best Browse.
At least we can look at the product and then open up Amazon within BB to order it.

I got a 4:3 ratio dvd given to me for Christmas that was bought from BB online. I went to the store because they had both versions to trade it for a widescreen copy. They told me I have to give the gift back and have them return it online and get the copy I wanted.
I went next door to CompUSA(been a few years lol) and they swapped it out even after telling them the story. That was the last time I went to BB to buy anything.
Best Buy isn't that bad guys, nor is it really the point of this thread.... I'm a former CompUSA employee and think BBY has the upper hand, if you don't agree, you like rooting for the underdog more often than not! Anyways, I have a Silver Rewards account and $100 worth of certs to use on a device that BBY will price match "anyone, anywhere," so what's not to like about that? The best CompUSA would do is knock $50 off the SGSIII for me, I had $50 worth of certs at BBY and $50 off for their Phone Freedom promotion made a $200 phone cost $50 after doing the same price matching as CompUSA could, so which company would you have bought from? What's the return policy at CompUSA compared to BBY's Silver Rewards? Only 30 days vs 60 means at 59 days, I get a brand new device just for kicks.....

Since right now online sales are filled with scalpers overpricing for the first time ever i might just buy the phone in the store outright. I usually purchase them online. Anyway, I have a t mobile account can i just pay and get the phone. Will they try to bundle/change or add stuff onto my plan ?
Anyone have a past experience with other phone purchases ?
I've never had a problem. If there is a better plan they'll let you know. I only preordered this time due to the Samsung promotion.
And by the way... this phone is amazing.

If you go into the store with the seven hundred and change in hand then no. However they still will try and push stuff on you but it's no different then what I did with pre ordering the phone and when it showed up on saturday I just went online and paid it off. It would be different if you didn't have a plan with then I could see them giving you grief over it or some BS about not having any units they can sell at the moment.
I just bought GS5 for my wife in the store, they mentioned if I want insurance, I said no and it was the end of it, but she may have switch me to paperless statement without asking or saying so, my bill is due in 2 weeks so I should see soon enough.

Online I am pretty sure you can't buy phones without a plan. You will have to deal with a human in person or maybe over the phone but more then likely you have to go to a store.

Now, while it still is in pre-order phase, you need to purchase a plan with it, even at full price. Same goes with the stores. You can only purchase 1 phone per existing line or sign-up/add a line for every Note 4 pre-ordered.
This might change after the official release on the 17th , given a few weeks.

I have a plan already. figured it out , to order you have to go to upgrade a line. It lets you pay full price at once. My main concern now is that if anything is wrong with the phone I have to mail it back to them instead of return it in the store and you will be left hanging for a while. Will decided over the next few days what i want to do. Anyone have any experience ordering from them online ?

Yes, that's the way it is. Others fix this by ordering another unit, get charged for the purchase then get credit when the other phone is returned
By the 17th it would be available in stores. I think they will sell you one without adding a line if you show them your return label for the defective phone. Depends whom you deal with. Ymmv.
Stay positive, your phone will be fine.

I am so not happy about this. I had many other issues with my Note 4 and now I just noticed this strange microphone in the right corner. It is very faint in the picture but noticeable. Has anyone else had screen burn in on the s6 or am I the only poor sap? Now I have to go through the exchange warranty BS. Every time they give me an exchange warranty replacement I get a phone with more problems than the last. I was so happy with this phone since I got it brand new except for ram management issues but now this. I dont even know what stupid app burned in that microphone symbol. Probably another gift from Google. Ughhhh.

My S6 has a dark spot in the top left corner. I can only see it on certain backgrounds. I would exchange it, but it didn't effect anything. The device functions as good as can be expected for what it is. You said it yourself, even you do an exchange the next device is worse than the previous. Not worth the chance to me.
Don't you guys have warranty through Samsung still? Manufacturer warranty rarely replaces your phone most of the time they repair it. I think if you request they repair it there is no chance of getting a different phone unless it's fubar.
Unfortunately Tmobile hires a third party company to do the exchanges. It is the same company that handle the insurance claims, like if you drop your phone and brek the screen.
Try n disable S-voice, it may go away..let me know if it does.

No, you don't talk to tmobile at all for manufacturer warranty. The only downside to getting it repaired with Samsung is you might be without a phone for up to 3 weeks. I guess if knox is tripped they might deny the repair but if that happens they would just send your phone back. I have a feeling they would just slap the guts of the old phone in a new frame (that should include new screen) then make sure it boots up without even checking the warranty bit.

Personally I'll pick repairing my phone over a refurb any day. Plus 90% of the time you need to pay a deductible with Tmobile, Samsung is free. To each their own, I have spare phone and can go a few weeks without this one if need be.

I was just looking through the S6 forum and saw this thread and Minnesotans at that lol.
I had that experience with my Z3 on my 8th currently, first 4 brand new in store exchanges (14 day period), last four exchanges occurred recently after many months hey were refurbs and they actually they send the devices to the manufacturer and then get them repaired and send them back to TMO so its pretty much the same as getting your device repaired but with a faster turn around time, ie 1 day shipping from T-Mobile vs much longer delay from manufacturers. If you are getting duds like I did it means the manufacturer's repair facility itself is doing a bad job, meaning even if you go directly through the manufacturer it more than likely wont be any better and you will have a much larger turn around time on top of it. TMO is much easier to deal with, Sony for example asked to do a software reinstall to rid of light leak between frame and glass and wasted time before they agreed its a hard ware issue and said it would be a three week turn around time so I decided to just keep exchanging with TMO which is much faster.

One of my coworkers dropped his phone and claimed insurance to get a refurb, well six actually. There is no way the manufacturer got the phones he was getting, I'm pretty sure the insurance company and tmobile just flips the phone unless it's has screen or water damage. In the end he settled on a imperfect phone because he didn't want to deal with it anymore. Only complaint I hear about manufacturer warranty is how long it takes. A secret they probably don't want you to know is Samsung has service centers in most bigger cities and some will have a phone repair guy. If you are lucky enough to live close to a Samsung store (not best buy) they will fix it no question.
Oh wow, well thanks for the info good to know, I was shocked my self with my 8 (Z3) exchanges, in that case whoever does the repairs is a veteran amateur. TMO told me wrong I guess.
The offered to cancel my $425 of remaining monthly phone payments and tax if it happened again and said I could get an S6 or G4. Still a loss of $200 I already paid though, fortunately last exchange was good.
I got lucky. I took the risk and sent it to TMO. They actually sent me a brand new device. This one is good so far. I use Google maps for GPS all day. I wish there was an app too act like a screen saver and flicker the screen black just for a second every few minutes.

I'm pretty sure the insurance company and tmobile just flips the phone unless it's has screen or water damage.

Fortunately this is not the case. All devices they send out are certified refurbished and there is absolutely no signs of previous ownership. I have received my fair share of refurbished devices from Tmobile via warranty exchanges, and the only way I've been able to tell that they were refurbished is by the box they came in.

Actually every single one I have received was used. They look an seem pefectly new however the one I just got was indeed new. I use a program called Samsung phone info. This will tell me how many times the headphone and USB charger have been attached to the phone. A brand new phone from Samsung has 6 times from Samsung installing the operating system and testing. I have recieved all my phones with numbers in the thousands. This time was 6.

Hi guys!
I am waiting on a new Unlocked N6 from amazon and it is due in tomorrow. I couldn't resist the opportunity to get a bloat free phone that i could take with me if and when I ever get rid of verizon. I am still on a grandfathered unlimited plan so I probably won't change until they forcibly remove that from me. Right now I am limping along with a Verizon branded Note 3. It has served me well for the last two years despite some radio issues and of course, the usual verizon baggage.
The only decent thing with verizon, however, is the 5 or so bucks a month I pay for ****-up insurance. I am nearly 100% positive my new phone will not be covered by Azurion so I am getting slightly nervous knowing i will not have a safety net. Have any of you who have an Unlocked version found a good method for insurance for the more spastic/drunk moments in life? Are the any good alternatives out there? I looked at amazon's in-house insurance ( i think) and TBH the reviews left a lot to be desired. I have heard talks about insurance from Moto but never any direct reviews of it of even if it is a real thing. Are there some that i should absolutely stay away from due to folks getting the shaft?
I figured i would bring this dilemma to you seasoned users and hope that you guys aren't just living on the edge!
Thanks in advance for your replies!
I've never used it but have heard good things about square trade. Maybe give their website a visit and check your options.
Square trade is leading with insurance.
I'm on grandfathered plan also. No insurance. Just hold my nuts and if it happens it happens. LMAO
I'm on Verizon, Nexus 6, and 7. I've never paid for "insurance" for myself. Deductible is stupid ridiculous. Put it on my daughters s5, she dropped it. Didn't even use it, replaced it for about the same as the deductible. Scam! And [email protected], if I ever get that damn sloppy the phone is the last thing I'm worried about breaking. 40K truck in a ditch, now that's a deal breaker. But I hold em, I see those sloppy blackout falling on the floor fools. Not me. Let's discuss the phone and how badass it is. Worrying about what its? I can help with that! It is a developer thread, not state farm.
Your getting a nice device, just enjoy it. And "know when to say when"

HaHaa. I put a $50K truck in ditch, cut a telephone pole in half and totaled the truck just cause of airbags.. Phone survived. LMAO
Moto offers insurance. I don't know the details.
Darn premature send. I meant to add I have seen several reports from people that had veey good experiences, and no bad reports.

FWIW, I have the Asurion Total Equipment Coverage through Verizon that I originally purchased with my Note 4 last year. I emailed them to ask if my non-VZW 64gb Nexus 6 that I purchase from Amazon would be covered, and this was the reply I got.
