CORRECTION: OK these are not so new, but not well known none the less....
Haven't looked at all 4 of them but the first one is the one I bought for my Athena when i first got about a year ago.....
I just bought one to mount in my Solstice.
Looking to mount it in another location from where they specify though.
Realy like the holder that grips top & bottom and provides power.
Need to bump the current up

I use the PDAmods mount, the built in speaker sux. But other than that the mount charges the device very well, and doesn't interrupt the GPS any, and for the price it was worth it to me.

Where do you have it mounted? On the window? On the dash? How do you put the device into the mount? Do you have to angle it in so that the power terminal engages? Do the sides open up? A couple of pics would be greatly appreciated.
i rather use the Universal car mounts, the good ones
that way i can use it with any PDA / phone i got with me at the moment
looks lika a few options to mount

I've found this mount to be much better..
I got the Proclip horz slide mount with the built in usb charger cable.
I purchased a sheet of aluminum and made a mount for it that bolts to my vanagon dash board (I didn't have to drill the vanagon, just bolted through the speaker hole in the center dash) The mount was very simple, just like the iMac base:
Very satisfied. Before this mount, I rarely used tomtom, now every time I am in the van I have it on. Also use it for A2DP wireless streaming to my in dash receiver!!!!!

Be careful with that one I got one and the speaker is not shield so whenever you get an incoming phone call you hear the beeps. This is completly unuseful.

Ditto!! With the 4-prong ratcheting system, it's so much easier to find a stand/gooseneck to connect it to. I'm using it, too.

I don't think that this is a problem. My Kaiser has a similar case, no problem. And if it is so load in your car that won't make a difference. A solution is to use your AUX in of your Radio . Modern Radios support Aux and Radio/USB/SD mixing so you can listing to music & hear your navigation

Just fitted the brodit holder, it's excellent.
benefits of the brodit holder, no drilling, or a suction cup. Easy mounting, and with a new phone you only change the holder.

i was looking for something like this. just bought it. thanks for the link.
I think I will definitely wait for the official carkit. It looks simply amazing. I've owned some non-official car phone holders in my time.... in most cases they look cheap and plasticy.
However in most cases, function is fine (perhaps sometimes a bit fidgety to adjust).
Try this... I bought this particular one from PDA Hut and love it.. Very strong and sturdy.

i haven't but that is brillant...
If you have no luck finding one I've heard that you can use duct tape for ANYTHING!
Duct tape huh? never thought of that! I'm looking for something with a quick disconnect but that will hold my phone securely while i'm on a bike trail. I'm planning on using the Cardio Trainer App to time my rides.
You could buy the itouch arm band thing that the hero fits in and strap it to your bikes frame somewere.
i remember seeing bike mounts for cell phones at Academy sports and outdoors if your in the usa..
I know that Best Buy had a universal one for awhile. I am not sure if they still have it though. It just clamped down on the phone with soft pads and would mount to a bar on the bike.
I would be interested in this as I often use my hero to listen to pandora while riding. I haven't tested if the touchscreen works through gloves though. I keep it in my pocket and can adjust volume but cannot skip or pause or anything.
I'm hoping this thread is about motorcycles and not bicycles, but the mounting would prolly be the same, just thicker bars.

i just picked up a bike mount / dash mount for my hero from best buy. had to get creative and look for mounts that are for mp3 players. i found it in the iphone section (damn iphone!!!) anyway its not perfect, but holds my hero tight and looks good. it was 30 bucks. sorry i cant remember the brand.....
hope this helps.

Even with the best noise cancelling, wind noise would just be obsurd.
To the OP, my best suggestion is do a google search for a product called a Bento Box. its a pouch that attaches to the stem and frame that is big enough for a phone, wallet, keys, food, etc. The reason i suggest this over a bar mounted holder (if one even exists) is that your phone is far from weatherproof. Whenever i ride and it could possibly rain, i put my phone in a ziplock bag and store it in that. ive been caught in a number of downpours and never had any water issues (indicators still have crosshatches). Also, if you wreck with your phone on the handlebars, its gonna be in 30 pieces. with this pouch, its protected by the stem and frame
For those of you who still may check this thread out... Well at least those who live further south as of right now - yes I'm jealous.
Anyway, check out the RAM Motorcycle Mount Wizard
The wizard (software) will give you the RAM mount you will need for your specific bike and the holder for your phone. Most of what I've seen are handlebar/rail mounts in case you were wondering.
Also for those of you who have sports bikes and want to use/use a tank mount somewhat like this:

I used the Epic mount made by Samsung over the last month and it worked really well.
Can anyone post a source for a similar mount for the Shift?
Thanks.
I haven't seen anything like that for the Shift, but I'd love to find one, that's awesome. I am looking for a mount that I can put on the front of my dash (the vertical area near the radio) using sticky tape (bad Dora reference there). My old one broke and I don't remember where I found it, lol.

The Shift may get one designed specifically for it in the near future (if it doesn't already exist somewhere)

Just purchased an auto mount from BestBuy. Made by Griffin named the WindowSeat AUX, usablr for different devices. I actually have it hold my shift with the bracket upside down. In otherwords the two corner grips are on the top, this way the single clip does not come near the power button. Seems to work great so far. I have access to all buttons and the power port. It also swivels so the phone can be either vertical or horizontal. Cost $35 with tax. I will post some pics if needed.
Forgot to mention that I already use a hard-case for my shift and it still is held securely by the bracket on the mount.
They are a little pricey, but take a look at ProClipUSA.. I have the one for the Shift in my truck, and its a perfect fit, has a swivel, and a cutout for the power plug in the proper place...
Ive been using their mounts for years, and worth every penny.
I did not put it in my car yet, I'll do it tomorrow. However, here are some pics of it fully assembled in my junky office.

Isn't that tablet obstructing your field of view being mounted like that? I would probably have opted for one that attaches to the heaters in the centre of the dashboard (as your phone), or the cd slot.

I sit pretty high I'm 6'2 so I see right over it. Anything that I can't see because of the tablet I already hit.. lol
does it vibrate while you drive or no?
here is a video of my set up:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SNHy5ofp5E
I actually have a similar set up as you (including tethered gnex!). While it's a nice mount, one of the issues I ran into with the mount is the way the part that holds the tablet attaches to the base. It's this idiotic peg and slide (wish I had a picture to show you).
Basically, you MUST have the mount fixed a certain way otherwise the tablet part of the mount could slide off after awhile (as I found out while driving through city streets). Unfortunately, to do that you would have to put the retractable part of the arms on the bottom, which kinda works against gravity. It's fine now but time will tell if those springs give way and become loose
OK, so I've searched all over but I haven't seen an actual Car Dock for the LG G Flex. only universal mounts pop up and I have one of those (my wife and i used to have matching HTC EVO 4G LTE's) and it doesn't sit or play well with that one mostly because of the Curve and size. I'm wondering if anyone has been able to find a good LG Flex based car dock? we take trips down south to Austin from Amarillo a lot but it's a pain having to reach down in to my Jeeps cup holder and look away while i check GPS or change song. just curious
Curious about this as well.
One thing I have found (however dangerous and unsafe as it may be) is to use a mouse while driving. Using a OTG cable with a wireless mouse helps me keep much more focus on the road. Much better that reaching up to the phone and touching the screen imho. With the flex I have many times knocked the phone out of the bad-fitting car dock I have when I touch it, creating a dangerous situation. Hence my switch to a mouse
I got this universal mount sideways since I switch phones a lot. I adjust it so it's snug and don't even mess with the button to release it so it's easy to put in and take out. Our Columbus, Ohio roads suck and I've never had problem with it falling out. It's angled up so that helps. I tried at least 10 universal mounts and finally found one I like. I got it at Walmart.
I only mess with my phone when I'm at a light. I had a friend that died driving and texting.
