I am searching for a landscape! device holder for my HD2.
I found several Portait ones, but landscape is much nicer!
I am thinking of something like this:

Me, too.
I bought a portrait one, but I do really want a landscape one!

I have to admit that despite the hefty prcie tag of the official car kit, it looks so damn good, I might splurge and get it anyway. I will learn to live with the battery lump thingy.
Brodit Holders are potrait holders, but you can easily turn them to landscape mode:

This one looks really nice, but unfortunately they didnt left any room for the speaker on the holder, only for the camera...shouldnt be that good for the volume of your navigation software.

I don't think that this is a problem. My Kaiser has a similar case, no problem. And if it is so load in your car that won't make a difference. A solution is to use your AUX in of your Radio . Modern Radios support Aux and Radio/USB/SD mixing so you can listing to music & hear your navigation

Thats allways the best, I also have my own Phone mount in my car, also all holders for this mounts are my (fathers) work, Those Plastic thing is the only thing I need
Just fitted the brodit holder, it's excellent.
benefits of the brodit holder, no drilling, or a suction cup. Easy mounting, and with a new phone you only change the holder.
Had these for my last three phones.

i was looking for something like this. just bought it. thanks for the link.
I think I will definitely wait for the official carkit. It looks simply amazing. I've owned some non-official car phone holders in my time.... in most cases they look cheap and plasticy.
However in most cases, function is fine (perhaps sometimes a bit fidgety to adjust).
Try this... I bought this particular one from PDA Hut and love it.. Very strong and sturdy.

I use the PDAmods mount, the built in speaker sux. But other than that the mount charges the device very well, and doesn't interrupt the GPS any, and for the price it was worth it to me.

Where do you have it mounted? On the window? On the dash? How do you put the device into the mount? Do you have to angle it in so that the power terminal engages? Do the sides open up? A couple of pics would be greatly appreciated.
i rather use the Universal car mounts, the good ones
that way i can use it with any PDA / phone i got with me at the moment

I've found this mount to be much better..
I got the Proclip horz slide mount with the built in usb charger cable.
I purchased a sheet of aluminum and made a mount for it that bolts to my vanagon dash board (I didn't have to drill the vanagon, just bolted through the speaker hole in the center dash) The mount was very simple, just like the iMac base:
Very satisfied. Before this mount, I rarely used tomtom, now every time I am in the van I have it on. Also use it for A2DP wireless streaming to my in dash receiver!!!!!

Ditto!! With the 4-prong ratcheting system, it's so much easier to find a stand/gooseneck to connect it to. I'm using it, too.

Please can you let us know how you get on with it out and about. I've been thinking about a bike mount, but I can't make up my mind if the screen will actually be any good on the move... Home luck with it : )
I would never take my HD2 when I go biking, water + earth + fall => DAMN !
With your support the phone is not protected !
I have Otterbox for vtt and it very perfect ! Its full waterproof

By the looks of things you do some sort of extreme biking i just do mine for pleasure and fitness so the holder i've posted is more than adequate and excellent for the price. Only real problem i seem to have with it is that it covers the loudspeaker so playing music without using headphonesis a little quiet but still can be heard in a quiet/countryside enviroment.
I wouldn't buy that op mount if I was just WALKING with the device. ESPECIALLY not an HD2.
Holy **** that otterbox is crazy tho. WHOA!
voileuxcool - does the touch screen work when you open the lid? GPS signal is ok? Did you have to make any other compromises or tweaks?
Thanks
I mean looking at that thing just makes me want to go mountainbiking! And I don't have a bike!
I have used the bike holder for about three months and it's a pretty good holder in all respects as long as the holder is tightened well. The only problem I had was I leave my bike outside exposed to the elements and one day when pulling the side back to release the HD2 it snapped...... It would be nicer if I could find a metal version some where!!!

Do you use it with HD2 or with Desire?
Is it waterproof cause i see hole for wired headset?
Also, hole for wired headset is sideway, not on the bottom like it should be for HD2 so is it possible to use wired headset while phone is in holder?
Can you answer these questions and post some pictures also?
Thanx...

Of course it's possible. Try OziCe or RunGPS or any other tracking app.
I suggest u to try with OziCE cause u can easily find 1:25000 topo charts for Slovenia which are very good for biking...

I own a 2009 Honda Pilot and just recently bought a refurbished NC. I couldn't help but noticed that it will almost fit in the center console:

In fact, if I push hard enough, the top of the console cover will actually lift a little bit to give room. So, I decided that I only need to cut a little groove underneath the ceiling so my nook will lock into place:
It worked quite well, but because of the pressure, sometimes it will accidentally press on the volume key and the power keys. So I made the groove on the upper left side longer so it won't press on the volume keys, and I cut out a hole in the rubber matt at the bottom so it won't touch the power button:
When I detach the NC, you can't even tell a hold was cut underneath the ceiling of the top cover unless you get up really close to examine it. And when I attach it, it's awesomely beautiful! I hope this will help other Pilot owners.
Tools I used:
- dremel rotary tool to cut the hole in the ceiling
- sharp knife to clean up the cuts, and cut the bottom matt
Tested: tethered off my Tmobile G2 for internet and GPS, activated google navigation while listening to pandora.
Thats pretty sweet!!
Nice mod! although personally I would not cut into a console of my car just to fit a Nook into it.

Haha.. I know exactly what you mean... I debated for a while myself, but I figured that it won't really be noticeable at all. I bet if I sell my car right now, the buyer won't even notice the slots I've cut out from the under side of the top cover.

I rarely see a aftermarket in-dash DVD player that can't be played when car is in drive.
I ordered a cheap desk stand from eBay, for the galaxy SII and the 4x HD fits perfectly!
I also customised a dock for my car, got fed up with trying to squeeze the phone into a rubbish looking universal mount, then connecting a trailing cable. So I hid the cables hard-wired behind the dash, and dremel'd the dock to shape, bent it with a hot air-gun, clamping it in a vice. Getting the connector to stay in place took a hot glue gun. (leaving a cavity underneath means I can still reach my headlight switch, not that i use it, I leave it set to on 100% of the time on the Volvo, as it makes no difference - the daytime running lights are set up to be the main dipped headlights anyway!)
I think now I've got a working prototype I'll buy another and redo it a bit neater. (The dock is only about £4 from china!) as the plastic has reacted a bit to the heat!
The dock is simply squeezed into the gap in the dash trim, it holds fine.
The phone jiggles a bit and it isn't angled towards the driver quite right, but it's fine, and certainly easier than having to fiddle the phone and charger in every time I get in the car!

look great !!! cool man ^^
I Should add, people have commented on two things - firstly in a crash it's going to fly out very easy and be dangerous (Though surely any cheap phone mount will also! Only something like a Brodit will hold it very securely)
Secondly (and quite worryingly!) Perhaps the charging socket will wear out from sitting wobbling around?
Nice but isn't mobile blocking your air-conditioning channel?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, but sitting in the flow of air wasn't a big deal for me. Most universal mounts mount onto a vent!
I since removed this! Firstly, the phone wobbles quite a lot - I was worried that the charging socket could get worn out.
Also, in the event of a crash it would fly around quite easily!
I now use a Clingo, but I modified it by screwing the tip of the ball-joint onto a Brodit base, so it's held next to my stereo
Hi, can you please give the url for the dock you bought ?
Thanks.

I have one like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sync-Charge-Cradle-Dock-Station-Charger-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S2-S3-S4-i9300-i9500-/231021608377?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&var=&hash=item35c9f5fdb9
Though I've now added a shim of card (taped on the back part with black electrical tape) to hold it at just the right angle.
Just to clarify, I'm just talking about desk stands here, the car cradle idea was just me bodging a desk stand, but I don't use that any more.
I doubt a real G S2 car cradle will hold the 4x, the width would have to be the same and I'm sure it's not!
Got this a few days ago for $30 on ebay and love it. I honestly couldn't go with anything other than magnetic - it's so easy and convenient to just quickly sit your phone against the mount or pull it back for texting at a light, etc. There really isn't much to say since the concept is pretty simple. The suction base works well on my textured dash and the magnet grips well. I haven't used it on a race track or anything but I don't take corners or always accelerate super slow either and the phone never budges. It's also great that the dock works with any phone so if you share your car or get a new device, you don't have to change mounts or have more than one. The only way it could be improved is if it had wireless charging built in too (though for verizon versions this wouldn't help most). But the phones battery is good enough that it shouldn't need to be plugged in for any trips that aren't very long anyways.
Also, I recommend the free app "IntelliScreen" with this. The app makes it so the screen won't timeout when certain apps are up on the screen (and it does some other stuff too). I made it so the music and maps app don't timeout so that I don't have to constantly hit the screen button while driving to see and control things.

I'm not positive but when the phone is put around half an inch from it or so, it easily sticks to the mount. It's not strong enough where it's difficult to pull off, but I actually believe I could go to a race track and record video from my phone's camera while it is on the mount and not have any problems with it moving/falling. I had seen the imagnet at first on amazon and was going to get that, but this one doesn't look like it's an iphone accessory so I won't have people asking/thinking I have an iphone that I give rides to, if I don't put my phone on it.

I didn't think of the spen because I don't ever really use it. I just tried it out and it doesn't work where the magnet is. However, it's so quick to take it off the mount and imo it's a lot more convenient to write/draw on it in your hand, so it shouldn't be a problem for a lot of people if not most. Navigation and everything else still works though.
I will also get a picture of the phone on the mount tonight.
