Alright, so since we have figured out how to get the radio to work on our TYTN's i was wondering if there was a way that we can now broadcast our own radio's..
I mean sort of making our phones into an Itrip for example.
You load audio manager, then click broadcast... pick the channel... and the music plays over your stero....
What do you think?
There is a flaw
From what I've been following, they discovered the possibility of an FM chip in the Tilt only to later find out that it would be impossible and or non-existent.
Correct me if I'm wrong (It'd be awesome if I was)
Last I checked, FM radio is not working on Kaiser. *edit* - FM receivers only receive, so the likelihood of a PocketPC FM transceiver is slim.
Serving a streaming broadcast over the Internet from your phone would be cool, but I think most people would like to use it as a live video/audio feed source, rather than streaming pre-recorded content (which can be better served from a desktop or server, without worrying about running out of batteries)
I'm still not sure where this thread is headed. I'm assuming that you'd next want to try to get someone to do this? If so, perhaps this thread should be moved into development and hacking.
Hope this helps!

Does anyone know where I can find some remote control software (TV, DVD player, etc.) for my 8125? I'm willing to pay but if I don't have too, I can live with that.
I have try about 5-6 and non work. I read somewhere around here that the infared port is not strong enough.
While I realize direct IR control of the TV may not be possible, anyone know of any device that converts BT signals to IR? That hardware combined with the right kind of software would do the trick...I guess what I'm thinking of is like a BT/IR gateway or translater, although the IR signla would be much different that the BT signal. Anyway, jsut a thought. And if someone reads this, makes the device, and earns billions, give me a cut!
Hi All,
Been having a search around, but haven't found anything like this yet. Has anyone seen or know of an app/util that would allow me to use the Kaiser as a bluetooth keyboard for another device (for example, PS3) ?.
Just was thinking about this last night, could be a useful little toy in certain situations ?
Any ideas/pointers ?
Thanks,
M3t.
Well ...
There's another thread in KAISER ACCESSORIES which links to the $29 bluetooth keyboard being sold on Amazon (down from $149 from iGo which the thread starter spent instead).
Since the Tilt keyboard leaves a lot to be desired, perhaps spending this $29 would be more to your liking.

Not seen anything like that around, as jdmba says, for the amount of work required to produce an app for it, it would really be of no benefit apart from as you say, a 'Party Piece'
Only thing close I have seen is Rudeo's app that turns your phone into a remote for Windows Media Center/Player. Great in a hotel room when your Media Laptop is connected to the TV.
Soz, hope you have luck.
it require the bluetooth stack supporting that bluetooth profile
and ms bluetooth stack is not that fancy i fear
Is it possible to use the existing hardware within the TyTNII for receiving FM radio signals? Surely it'd be a case of utilising the same hardware used for WiFi (802.11x = 2.4GHz), but at a lower frequency (FM 88.0MHz-108.0MHz)..
I was disappointed that FM radio was not an included feature of the TyTNII, however I'm happy with just about everything else about it. The only comparable phone that I was considering is the Eten X500+ glofiish which does have FM radio.
If there is already an FM radio application, please hook me up.
Regards,
Scott.
NOPE kaiser does not have fm transmitter ...
if it was simply the case of utilizing the same hardware.......then surely, every single ppc with wifi could be modded to receive fm radio signal. holy cow, you know what i realized, my laptop has wifi too! i'm sooo gonna mod it to receive fm radio
just because they use the same term "radio frequency" doesn't always mean that they're interchangeable. so let's review this... since TyTn II has WiFi radio chip is there any software to turn it into:
satellite dish receiver?
citizen band transceiver?
(hd)tv tuner?
microwave oven?
fm radio? ... maybe not
bluetooth - there's a dedicated component/module for this
GPS - there's a dedicated component/module for this
but who knows if there was a disabled chip that can potentially be activated (as long as the hardware is there and accessible), there might be possibilities
one word: SEARCH!
there is a LONG thread on this in one of the kaiser sections which has long been buried which has determined that the kaiser does not have the proper hardware to receive FM radio signals. the touch cruise can receive them IIRC but the kaiser cannot due to the lack of a needed chip.

Threads like this should be closed the second they are posted. Sorry if i sound like a know it all, but i am a amateur radio operator, hence I have alo't of experience in the radio field. Using a modulated 2.4ghz transciever in impossible to re-modulate it to the am/fm bands. it just wont work.
second. you have to have a on board antenna and a tuner that is resonant on those freq's and the kaiser/tilt does not.
Third. Dutty has been tinkering on a idea of getting it to work, and following what he is thinking it might work, however the reception most likely will be limited.
Fourth. If a radio is such a big deal then buy a am/fm portable radio, or buy a sony w580i,
Fifth. SEARCH, there are plenty of threads regarding this.

Sixth. Using wifi or data go to www.thestreamcenter.com/pda and listen to all the FM radio your heart desires
Wow! Thanks for that link.
...or get one of the many internet radio programs available (such as Resco Pocket Radio).
I posted this earlier on the Kaiser General tread but go no replies:
Okay before anyone points out to me I am aware that HTC Kaiser does not have a FM tuner on board.
I have been looking at various attachment for Ipods which have FM radio capabilities.
For example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/GEAR4-BluEy...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1216741324&sr=8-2
There are plenty more types out there.
I am wondering if it would be possible to hook one of these devices using the mini USB port on the Kaiser and write a software which would use the FM radio tuner on these devices. I know these devices are custom built for Ipods but a low level code should in principle be able to access the hardware and use it.
Any thoughts?
Edited: Amazon link corrected
My first thought is

My second thought is Just get a portable AM/FM radio.. If your going to carry around something to plug into your phone then you shouldn't care.

Well thanks for the prompt reply. Apologies for the link. Since I just cut n paste from my previous post, the link was shortened.

As for buying a portable radio, I know it would be the easiest solution but if someone can programme to use the radio via the USB it would be a nicer solution.
I picked up one of these. But paid much less.

Motorola S705 SoundPilot works pretty good. Music sounds a tad bit better than average, but not near as good as the S9s or HT820s
http://www.thestreamcenter.com/PDA/ <<<<< make a nice alternitive to a FM radio if you have a unlimited data plan.
Hello, my curiosity of the Chromecast take me to this website:
http://asia.cnet.com/google-chromecast-supports-bluetooth-62221903.htm
Accord to this article the Chromecast supports Bluetooth 3.0, then my question is, why we cant play some local music in Google Play Music for listen on the TV?
Probablly is disable this tecnology but I know this comunity could do the work for add this function.

I didn't look at the article but to answer your question most wifi chips now are made with bluetooth and sometimes FM radio option. Bluetooth as of now is not used on this chip/device.

if we dont ever end up seeing bluetooth active on this it might even be because its physically disabled inside the chip via the manufacturer so even with device drivers on the unit it wouldn't be able to use it.. its happened before sort of a method to ensure that nobody uses something that needs to have a licensing paid for to an organisation or another company.. does Bluetooth 3.0 need to have a license paid per X# devices?
anyways random thought.. who knows maybe it is enabled and an update in 6 months will see it active on the devices via an update.
Yeah, I don't know if there are specific licensing fees but there are licensing restrictions that require an agreement with the Bluetooth SIG to enable Bluetooth in your device.
Either way, this should ultimately be possible through WiFi which would give you much better audio quality. It's just that none of the Android apps support streaming content directly from the device (yet).
