Video format - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi!
I've recorded video file with kaiser in Mpeg4 format, then I transfered to PC, but cannot play back with WMP. Then I tried with VLC player, it can work but no sound.
Should I convert the file to some other format to get sound? Anyone experienced the same problem?

Video taken on TILT play but no sound on PC

Ok I recorded a video on my TILT that I want to post on Youtube. I transferred the Video from my TILT to my PC and when I play it, it opens in VLC. I see the video but get no Sound.
When I play video on my kaiser I could hear sound and everything. What am I doing wrong?
The file is mp4 so it should open in VLC. I forgot how to get into the associations part on VLC I went through like everything option. I don't think that'll fix the prob because I could still see the video just can't hear the sound. Any ideas.
The video was 22 minutes long. If that helps. Taken in 2x zoom.
If I open anything else on my PC on VLC I have no problems with the files. I could see and hear.

make sure you have the correct codecs installed.. you can try downloading the klite codec pack or the ace mega codec pack and that might solve your problem.. you should be able to google both of them and find download links (they're both freeware)
i havent tried that player but i do have the mega pack and that didnt help with me playing it with windows media player. i would get the same thing, video but no sound. i converted the file to something else like .avi, .mpge, etc. and now it works fine.
So basically just convert the file.
never could get sound on mp4 files unless i used quicktime
Funny thing is that I used quicktime and it didnt even play sound either. I'm going to convert it when I get home. It's a funny vid of me and my boys having a funny conversation. You'd get a kick out of it.

video playback on PC-No sound?

I use vlc media player to playback recorded videos on my pc, and all the videos of my son have no sound. This happened on the kaizer too and it was due to a copyright issue w/ the codecs htc use.
Has anyone found a work around for this?
Anyone?
Googling on the web reveals nothing? Surely others must be annoyed by this too?
GSpot says Audio codec: 'samr: AMR Narrowband' - could not find anything suitable for PC though and just ran out of time...
This is truly terrible
Would you have a phone with photos that can only be viewed on that phone on and not shared?
Why would these idiots use codec that makes it impossible to share videos with sound with any PCs?
How incredibly stupid of HTC?
I think it's a licencing issue with VLC itself - it can't play the SAMR AMR audio codec. I discovered this accidentally after emailing a vid to the missus who discovered she couldn't play it on her Macbook (using VLC). One of the threads I read about it is here.
I use mediaplayer classic and the K-Lite codec pack from free-codecs.com on my (windows-based) laptop and have no issues at all.
so you must have some codec able to play this... have you tried opening Diamond-Vids with other applications like vlc or maybe a conversion tool (like if one would like to convert to an flv for upping to web).
Also in your K-Lite there is a GSpot could you check what it shows in 'Audio' (check screenie)
THX
ive been trying ot find a codec to get videos to work too.... well, video works but theres no sound on video files recorded with the diamond... ill give the klite pack a try i guess
if you manage to get sound - it would be great if you could check which codec is used ... thx!
same problem here
I have tried out every player under the sun (yes vlc too), updated several different codec packs, and still have the same problem.
I know that there is sound encoded in the files, because when I play them on the phone there is sound.
I have a friend with the same phone, and he also has the same problem.
I have recorded several lectures, and it would be fantastic is someone can find a fix for this.. my intention was never to watch the videos on the phone.. otherwise i'll just end up cross-eyed.
Any help much appreciated.

SOLUTION - GOM Media player
Plays them all fine
Good luck

Playing Kaiser Videos on a PC

So I've taken a lot of videos of my tilt, but I can't get them to play on my PC. They're in .mp4 format but they won't play in WMP, iTunes, QuickTime, or GOM Player. Anyone know a program that can handle these or what I can do to perhaps change the format the phone outputs them?
VLC should work.
After I move the video files from my tilt to my computer, I just rename the file from mp4 to 3gp, example: "video1.mp4" to "video1.3gp". It plays fine in quicktime after that. It gives me a warning that changing the file extension might make the file unreadable or something, but I haven't had a problem yet.
VLC (the aggressive player) will play anything you want, just get the right edition for you.
VLC won't work. It plays the audio but the screen is blank. =/
That's odd, my copy of VLC plays the Video but not the audio....
You can upload them to youtube and myspace and they will play fine there...lol

same here, except WMP plays the audio and video fine for me, but then when i try and exit it crashes lol
dude wtf...why cant it just output normal video
Hello,
I have the same issue. I could not have VLC read the movies correctly.
I now use Mirksoft Mobile 3GP converter to transform my videos into avi format (with correct output on VLC).
It can be found here : http://www.miksoft.net/
Hope this helps
there is a quicktime codec for vlc, with this you have sound and video
if you want them to play in WMP, you need a 3ivx codec.
http://www.3ivx.com/codec/download_win.php?format=exe
It's a trial, but it DOES work.
try this one Gom Player http://www.gomlab.com/eng/ it downlads codecs if you dont have them it should read any video.

Get Video Off Of The Tilt!!!!

Ok. I recorded some video on my AT&T Tilt with a memory card. It plays fine on my phone. Well I want to get it on my computer. When I tried to, it was in the MP4 format. So I opened it with Quicktime and iTunes and it wouldn't play. It said there was an error. So I was gonna convert it. I tried to, but it gave me a warning saying that it would have no sound, so I didn't do that. Then I downloaded VLC Player and when I played the videos, they didn't have sound. I tried putting them in Windows Media Center, didn't work. I tried ActiveSync. Didn't work. There has to be some possible way to do this. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!
Same thing happens to me. Now I just record in the other format, QIF I believe. And that works fine.
THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!
how did you even get "good" video playback?
how did you even get "good" video on the TILT? is it the change in file type that makes the video better in itself? where do you change it?
You can change to CIF by selecting it from the Capture Settings menu (hit menu when the camera is running) under Resolution. The capture format can be changed from MPEG-4 to H.263 if you go to Advanced > Capture Format.
Recording in a well-lit environment helps. I'm not usually affected by placebo, but I and a few other users have reported increased camera performance after installing the latest test drivers for the Kaiser from htcclassaction.org. It DID seem that the framerate was higher. I can't rule out the possibility that updating to windows mobile 6.1 may have made a difference, but I know I don't keep apps running in the background and the comparison whilst not scientific would be pretty fair.
What can be used to view H.263 on the home pc? Will media player play it? And is there a good reason why it just doesn't record to .wmv or regular old mpeg? As you can tell I am a moron when it comes to video.
VLC will read it

QuickTime will play H.263 encoded files.
The Tilt does not use WMV or MPEG because they do not have formats optimized for mobile devices, so the files end up being huge.
Thanks, that makes sense!
my mp4 videos run fine on wm player! try downloading the vista or xp codec pack which is available on most torrent sites
I know its old but anyway...I record video w/ my kaiser, bluetooth the video over to my laptop, convert with WM convert, open w/ movie maker, edit then post. Sooooooooo easy and no cables required!
You're all going through waaaay to much by using converters & what not. When recording in mpeg4 format just rename the files to ".3gp" after you transfer them to your computer and they will play regularly through quicktime with sound & everything intact.
download K lite codec pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm
it will allow windows media player to play ANYTHING, throw and file at it and it will play
VLC Works for me
VLC works for me, try it

Use a converter to be able to edit the video in windows movie maker, it takes like 10 seconds to convert a MPEG4 to WMV. (i've got the codec pack but in order to edit the video you need to convert it.)

Doubts about videos on Lumia 920

Hello everybody!
I have some problems when i try to convert a video for my Lumia 920. Let me explain: i have a MKV file (it has already a subtitle). Using Format Factory, i can convert for MP4, but when i open the video, i have no more subtitle! Just the video and the audio. I dont know what happens in this situation.
Using Any Video Converter Ultimate, i select Microsoft HD Zune for output format. Ok, the video is correctly converted, i have my subtitle... But the font is changed. And the video quality is not that good it was before.
I decided to try Leawo Converter Video, but i have the same problem as using Format Factory. When the convertion is finished and i open the progam, i have no more subtitle.
Still using Leawo, i tried to convert and AVI file + srt file in one MP4 filme, and it worked fine. So, i guess the real problem is the MKV format with the subtitle.
I dont know if i was clear, my english is not so good.
I apreciate your time. Hoe you can help.
Regards,
Arthur
Subtitles are regularly a Problem with Video Players and also with Video Converters. You could try extracting the Video to an avi File and the Subtitles to an SRT and use the method that has been working for you so far.
I currently don't know of a one stop solution that would be able to handle this properly. Even VLC until Version 2.0 had regularly Problems with subtitles that were not part of the Video stream itself.
Hi, i solved the problem.
Using Any Video Converter Ultimate, after open the video, click on that. At the right side of the screen, find Audio Settings, and then find Subtitles (in portuguese we call Legenda, so sorry if i translated wrong, my english is not so good). It will be "Default", and you have to change. When you click on the box, you can select the correct file. This file will be the subtitle from the original MKV file.
Sorry if i didnt make myself clear, as i said before, my english is not so good.. Anyway, i hope it can help.
Best Regards,
Arthur Garcia.
Your English is fine (much better than my Portuguese). The request and solution were easy to understand. Thank you for finding the solution and posting it for all of us to benefit from!
Thank you! Hope the solution can help someone!
Regards.
