Is it me or does the OZ IM client that comes with the AT&T Tilt not work right when you talk to other people?
My friend has the real AIM client on his Mogul and I tried to chat with him via OZ IM and all he sees is blank messages.
I tried Agile and it works great. I have to buy it though, so...I tried the AIM client (from the UK site) and it works too, but it's crap because the notifications are bad and it seems like an old program.
Any ideas?
its bc Oz IM uses text messaging instead of data and the mobile version of aim doesnt support text messaging.
Which IM service you using? MSN, AIM? I don't use AIM or Yahoo, but I do use MSN form time to time. Windows Live works just fine for that, and uses data, not SMS.
I wanted to use AIM. I have an unlimited data plan and that's the reason I wanted to use data instead of SMS. Any way to make this client work? Don't want to buy Agile.

Thanks. I gave the Palgrino app a try, which one do you recommend?
Works!!
Palgrino is working for me. its quick and stays connected even when minimized.
I use Slick. It works really well and uses data.
Hi:
Do any of these have smilies?
I just installed Palringo, and it looks very nice, but no smilies.
Thanks!
PS: I don't mind paying for it, if it has a nice enough interface, and smilies. Palringo looks amazing, it's exactly what I am looking for except for the smilies.
Beejive had it on my blackberry untill i got the tilt. works like a charm for me and it shows notifications and smilies and supports all clients

The problem in my eyes with the applications that use DATA connections instead of SMS, is that while logged in, now my Tilt has to maintain a live data connection with the network.
What I like about an SMS version is that no matter where I am, 3G, Edge, it just works over SMS. True it's not as "responsive" as a data connection, but it's mobile IM. What do you expect?
On that note, since I'm running aftermarket cooked ROM, does anyone have the OZ IM client that the tilt shipped with available?
Heya,
I just recently got the Fuze and also a first time user of the wimo OS and I just found out that I get charged for the IMs that i send through the default IM softwares. Is there any decent or good IM software out there for wimo? I have the unlimited data plan so I'd like to make the best of it. Thank you very much.
There's a plethora of programs for this purpose. Try looking for Sling, Octro Talk, Fring, IM+, etc. My personal program is BeeJive/JiveTalk.
Have a look here and here
does beejive and IM+ required to be paid for?
and among the freewares, which would you recommend the most?
I tried installing Beejive but for every message that comes in/or I send i receive a text message saying WVCI 1.1 aim. Any way to get rid of this?
For ICQ especially is the best solution software named Pigeon. For Push-to-talk conversation via internet use Palringo.
I ended up using EQO.. the only problem i have with it is the fact that i cant read what i typed down until i send it.. it seems to be a bug of some sort.

So far every aim client i've tried is doing the same thing. The one that comes with the fuze was great until i found out it uses SMS.
yeah. i found that out after wasting 10 or so txt msgs....
EQO is a pretty nice freeware IM and it seems like the landscape mode issue is present in all other IM software.. maybe it's a HTC thing.
might it have anything to do with the resolution of the phone? maybe the programs aren't optimzed for this res?
Slick messenger is free...... He supports ICQ, MSN, GTalk, Yahoo, AIM and Jabber.
I do love Palringo. It is very fast and can do everything you need!
Palringo
I have to agree with the previous poster. http://palringo.com - easily the best option out there. Tight integration, multiple accounts active on multiple services, includes AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, and Jabber/GTalk.
Only weird thing is that you have to create an account on their website first. But then if you ever move phones / reinstall, your profile includes all your accounts already. And you can send picture messages inline directly.
Personally I like IM+ the best, It has support for aim, msn, yahoo, googletalk, icq, and jabber. You do have to pay for it however.
edit, but now that ive seen palringo in the posts above i think my first impression is wow that looks a lot nicer than im+.
another vote for plaringo. i use it very often with the voice chat, picture now location (gps/cell tower trianglutaion) works on my desktop and ppc
One big minus for Palringo...it drains the battery very quickly. Instead that,it is perfect solution for voice messaging also via slow GPRS! and it's multiplatform(I use it with Hurricane and previously with Himalaya).
I don't think Palringo is all that big of a battery hog. I used to keep it on for hours at a time and never had any issues on my Kaiser. This was generally quick bursts of a dozen messages a couple times an hour.
But yes, my preferred IM client on Windows Mobile so far. Have not tried any of the for-pay ones. Yeah you do have to create an account, but it's because they want you to use their messaging service which seems like it would be very useful if you know anyone else with the program. It's multiplatform, and has media sharing and push-to-talk which I hear works decently well.
Palringo is my vote. I BOUGHT IM+ about 2 days b4 someone showed me Palringo. I was sad.
Only drawbacks for me is I use AOL IM alot. It doesn't keep my AOL directories. It just throws everything into "online" or "offline".
No vibration feature or light. I think IM+ had those.
I LOVE voice IMing. As long as you AIM someone with the sound on, they get a tag saying I sent a voice message. When they click on it, it plays back what I said. Very handy while driving.
Allows two different AIMs to be signed in. I like that. Sometimes I need work aim and home aim on.
Now I kinda use AOLIM client for Windows Mobile. Works fine. And has my directories.
+1 for Palringo
I've tried every PPC IM program out there and Palringo is the one I settled on. I'm very happy with it and it's free. They also continue to improve it and add features (though I'm very happy with it now).

Oh. I dloaded IM+ since I havn't used it in about a year. They IMPROVED it. Now has a history, remembers my aol groups. Only thing still missing is vibration and teh ability to show AIM personal messages.

I'm using for several months now Jeyo Mobile Extender who synchronizes my sms folder with outlook and which allows me to send sms right from outlook when my TP is connecter to ActiveSync.
They made a standalone tool called Jeyo Mobile Companion who does the same job without oulook
http://www.jeyo.com/
thx gloom i am using the trial version right now, it works fine for me so far
mDesktop
I am using this app
http://www.motionapps.com/product/mdesktop/index.jsp
it can do Anything with your PDA, just automatically synces when you connect to PC like Active Sync does. You can even remote dontrol your display, send SMS, call, browse files, install cabs and much more.
Problem is it wasn't free .. $20
There are 2 from M$ that work with Outlook. Outlook SMS addon - phone needs to be connected through ActiveSync. Outlook Mobile Manager will forward email as SMS to your phone. It also sends an agenda for the day. Both are free. I found OMM by accident. It's not advertised any where.
try "my mobiler"
try your email program.
http://www.mutube.com/projects/open-email-to-sms/gateway-list/
You can find the server to email to (mine is @txt.att.net) and I just use my mobile phone's number. So, if your tel# is 1025551212, the just send an email to [email protected]
For the Netherlands, you can use these:
NETHERLANDS
31#@gin.nl - if you have T-Mobile
0#@sms.orange.nl - if you have Orange
(replace the # with your phone number)
try www.dashwire.com
it lets you do SMS from you comp and also backs up everything on your phone

This could be used for bad things
2 Programs that I like.
First one as mentioned above (Free), My Mobiler:
MyMobiler
Second Program, which I absolutley LOVEE to death, same as above, but more feature rich, and quicker (Costs $39, yes a lot for mobile software...luckily my company paid for mine):
Pocket Controller Pro
I only list that second one, because if anyone has anything free as good as that one, I'd love to hear about it.
Both programs actually have your phone's interface on your computer, so you can type into your phone, do SMS, everything/anything.
DTB
I fell in love with seven beta with winmo and I told everyone about it and they love it. Since i run both android and winmo I needed it for android and guess what it is free for android too and works just as well in android. Go to their site register your device you can dl it directly to your device via sms or access site through phone browser. I have 6 email accounts(yahoo, gmail, and aol) with (as real as it gets without a blackberry) push email working in winmo and android, dual boot. Here is the link enjoy
http://community.seven.com/main.php
You must register so it knows your device and will keep track of what email addresses you have. This is convenient if you reinstall the app it will already have a record of your email addresses on record.
Just a note the registration process when you install it is a international text so you will see a $.20 charge on your bill or whatever you get charged for international texts as it is based overseas. I can vouch for the program as I have used it everyday since December 2007.
********DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AN UNLIMITED TEXTING PLAN AS MESSAGES ARE SENT FAST BECAUSE THEY ARE SENT VIA AN SMS ON THE BACKEND*********
Another attempt at cross-platform messaging, except this one may actually take off. They use the whole PIN number thing like BBM does. It has picture/file transfers, integrated twitter and facebook, customizable profiles, and PUSH NOTIFICATIONS.
http://www.liveprofile.com/
Currently only in Beta and for Android but iOS and BB OS6 releases should be pretty soon.
My PIN is LPW8X4VZ if anyone gets bored and wants to talk!
Why should I use this over Yahoo messenger or something similar?
IMO, it seems to be a lot more feature rich then any IM client around. And since it isn't based on an email address, not every Tom, ****, and Harry can get ahold of your email and spam you or share your personal details.
