I need to start tracking my movements because i just recently started a new hobby where i could easily get lost. If there is either some way to track my steps or mark my location every 5mins per say.
Any help would be appreciated thank you.
Note: i know googlemaps has TrackMe but I do not have a data plan, so i use TT6.
This feature is usually called "bread crumbing" and I do not believe that Tom Tom has it - I have hadd almost every version of TomTom including one not on my Tilt and I cannot find it there.Bill

I have used tomtom for years as well and never seen a feature like this.
ok i've searched trying to figure out how to run trackme with tomtom but it don't work
guess im just stuck without for now.
You can try WMMiniGPS11b_Installer which will track your path, and export it to KML to view on Google maps/earth or live search
Though this won't help you if you are lost I suppose...

So are you saying that if i download gpsgate, i will be able to run both TT and TrackMe effectively?
LOL, just to get a fix in the boston area is a pain in the ass i have to open gps router, then go to gpstest, then download quickgps, then open tomtom just to get a fix now i need gpsgate sh1t.
Thanks for your help man. i'll report back.
Fwiw, I just checked on mine with Garmin XT and it does do a selectable time Track Log as well as a POI file to store your own waypoints.

I installed Track Me yesterday and had fun with it all day long. Please define "Doesn't work" and lets see what we cah do to help you. There is a HUGE thread on how to make this program work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340667
Now - At the very TOP of this thread it indicates a couple of programs that you have to have installed on your computer -
REQUIREMENTS
Devices running Windows Mobile 5 or 6 (no Windows Mobile for Smartphones)
Microsoft Compact Framework 3.5
SQL Server Mobile 3.5
and it gives you a download link. Mine did not work either until I downloaded those.
THEN install the program. It works a treat. The only problem I have had with it is if I tell it to connect every thirty minutes and check the box to disconnect after each connection - it does not seem to connect after that.

oh sorry, i did post in that link what my problem was after i started this thread. This thread was for the purpose for another program.
Anyhow my problem is after reading that thread and following different peoples advice i cannot get a fix with any gps program when i have trackme open.
PathAway 4 Professional has a feature to upload your coordinates in a few different ways, email, and I think even a web post method. I haven't looked at the features closely yet, but check it out.

i'm using it now, so far so good, thanks!
Keeps asking me for a valid internet connection even when I'm on wlan. It's working though... I like it
all I can say is WOW... I saw this technology working on the iPhone and was jealous instantly. Now I can have all that too. I love the business lookup. i am forever trying to find numbers for stuff really quick and it is handy to have maps and directions available as well.
ii cant get past the valid internet screen
no more java midlet... i cant wait to try it. can you mark locations and get directions also?
edit:
i keep getting this annoying error...
"This program requires a data connection, and will retry automatically. In the mean time, please check your signal strength.
(Error: wininetReadError [6])"
and thats with an activesync connection
I just tried it, but found windows live search to be better, it seems more complete

yeah i get that too...its buggy, but its all good...seems to pull up maps quicker than windows live, but live seems more user friendly...
I saw my home with this program, is really good, will be great if another gps program(tomtom, igo, mapopolis...) use this kinds of sat maps. Navteq has very updated the maps in my area, too bad that the program doesn't has more options to cordinate better routes ... Thanks for the link! I never used google before(maps, search don't like it), "Yahoo fan" lol..
No way to bookmark favourites that I can see :-(

google has always been great on features so im sure if you give feedback about the issues you've all been having they will be sure to fix/implement fixes.
issue #1, connection error messages
issue #2, no saving map markers
issue #3, no best route solution
as far as i know, the program has a gps option but i have no gps device to test it with. can someone test it with their gps please and report back.

That's what I got too. Undeleted instantly. Even without this bug, I may also undelete it since the MS live map is still much better.
i like it, but there's no option to display turn by turn direction all at once. But overall, it's all good.
Hmm this was working really well on my old rom. Today I upgraded to 3.3.0.0 and now it won't install. It comes back instantly with "installation of googlemaps.cab was unsuccessful". I've tried redownloading and running it from different locations but I get the same error. This is after a fresh rom install with no other apps.
!! Dig !!
I dig it, very quick rather than live search, not only that but sat images updated every so often is a bonus. I get the error (using wm6) connection but click ok and everything still loads with no troubles. I give google thumbs up on this.
Twice as good on BA if you ask my two cents!
Is it true that the onbaord GPS can self manage the GPS data to multiple apps( like the Trinity)?
Yes, that is correct.
Go to Settings, system tab, then External GPS , access tab,
then tick the option 'automatically manage GPS (recommended)'.
(It should be something like that, because I have a Dutch ROM, so this is an educated guess )

Do you know the actual port the GPS is on? I'm trying to get iGo to work and it just hangs when I do autoseek. Strange thing is that Google maps has no trouble finding and using the built in GPS-hardware. Unfortunately it won't tell me what these settings are.
ROM-versie 1.25.172.0 25-6-07
I used COM port nr 6. I didn't change the hardware-port and the baudrate settings.
However, the first time, it took me about half an hour to get a GPS fix. But once he made the first fix, the next ones were very fast. Since then, he has a fix within 20 seconds.
Could you tell me about the Google Maps application? What is it about? Could you eventualy share the files?

That's it, but beware of your mobile internet tarrifs, I think only with Dutch T-Mobile this falls under your 10 euro internet bundle.
I gave up on Igo, I just use TomTom now.
Did you notice that on long trips with bluetooth on the gps just plain disapears? like: no GPS-device present? doesn't happen with bluetooth switched off.

I'm using iGo 2007 with the GPS settings left as standard. When I looked at these they were com 4 and 4800 baud. Memory map 5 uses the same settings and I've had no problems with either. I let WM6 manage the setting automatically as I have with all previous WM GPS Smartphones/PDAs.

I am using Windows Live with mine and the GPS port only seems to work on Com4, but like others, I leave the HW port and baud rate alone.
If you enable the QuickGPS it will help you lock onto a satellite quicker.
Am having difficulties getting the GPS to work with Goole Maps and the product packaging here in Asia doesn't have TomTom.
I'm looking for a GPS testing tool to test whether I can get an initial lock onto a GPS (which I understand can take several minutes first time arond) and eventually then use Google Maps.
Google tells me there's a (freeware?) tool "GPS Viewer" by Holux / Maction but I can't seem to find a .cab file. Anybody can share a link to this or a similar tool, much appreciated.
Here is a tool for you. Setup COM4, 115200, NMEA
thanks for that ... I'm not able to set COM4, the drop down list for Port: has only "Serial_BTU COM7:"

There is an app on use on WM5 called Navio that shows GPS data on a Today screen plugin. Do not know if will work on WM6. I hope to find out if AT&T would release the Tilt.
For using googlemaps, you must installing and using once tomtom. After, googlemaps is working fine.

Hi,
I need a little help.
I've not had my Diamond for long and new to WinMo and I'm trying to put TT7 on it, but I need to get the DeviceID, but don't know where to locate it?
Any help much appreciated!
Thanks,
DG.
If you already installed TT then connect your phone to PC and locate navigator.bif file! openit with Notepad and there you find a lots of info, and your device ID
Also, device ID should popup when you launch the program with directions to activate the installed map. ( at leat with Tom Tom 6
If you had be using a purchased version of TT then you would not need to locate the DeviceID

Hey, had the same problem m8
heres what you do
open tomtom7, on the map in the botton right hand corner is the time and right below is satelite connecton indicator. Tap that and then tap ''version'', also botton right hand corner. And BAM there is your DeviceID.
Deeds.
Thanks guys!
I'm going to try that tonight... hope I don't have too much trouble with it... after readying here, it seems people are having a bit of a mare with it!
Windoze9t8, I know I should be using a purchased one, but after coughing up 350 queens heads on a phone, another 200 on a piece of software if a little extreme! (well, thats the cost on the tomtom site!)
I got tt7, it says its for HTC, hope it works!

Yes but where to buy TT7?
Indeed you wont need a device ID when you have purchased and or use tomtom maps legally you can see your device ID.
You cant buy tt7 (yet) tt6 will work
No joy with TT7 anyway!
The Home2Go or whatever it is could not install / run after I copied it to the phone? I'm either doing something totally wrong or I got the wrong file.
It was the legal one you get from tomtom website, then you install that and then the maps... apparently!
Any other free apps? I tried google maps, but it uses a data connection and I just want to use the GPS so it doesn't be costing me anymore monies!
Just out of interest (legal copy or not) when I connect to the phone via ActiveSync, do I just generally copy apps there and run them, or is there a way to install them from my machine to the phone via ActiveSync? For TT7 I created a folder called 'Navigation' and put it in there (obviously from reading above, it didn't work!)
If only it a drag and drop hey...
DG
sorry if i am wrong, but nobody here know that the device id is in:

This is not true. If you'd previously been using TT on a different device then you will need to give the DeviceID to TomTom (direct or via www.ttcode.com) in order to reactivate your maps on the new device. I had to do this when moving from a C500 to an M600.
KukurikU said:

The DeviceID is a 'TomTom-ism' - a code that TomTom uses to uniquely identify your device. It must be obtained through some process involving fixed identities of the device and so whilst it could well be derived from IMEI it is not actually the IMEI itself.

Give the ID yes, but you dont have to locate it as the code splash screen appears with the code on - which you then provide to the site ttcode.com, if one is trying to find the code in the bif file then that method is being used as a hacked version of TT - repacked
Although you have the ability to activate TT on other devices every six months TTs agreement indicates you may only use the product once on one device.

Dont get me wrong I'm not having a go - just making a point. I am really P*Off with TT as they do not offer an upgrade policy for people who have early version maps like myself.

AFAIK the only official way to get TT7 is by purchasing a Diamond with it pre-installed like the German XDA form O2 (maybe other countries too) then you can get the 7.2 version maps from the TT website.

Hi,
I'm trying to look for something that does a simple task - record where my car is when I leave the carpark, and I can then recall that location later to get to my car if I'm lost (I have a VERY bad sense of direction, in fact, you can almost say I have no sense of direction ).
I've been looking at something like the Vito Navigator, which seems to do what I want, but it seems a bit of an overkill for such a simple task... don't need fancy things like voice navigation etc, maybe just a compass saying that my car is, say, 200m to the North of where I am? Does anyone know any simple program that does this? Many thanks in advance
i'd like this, too!! 1+

I have TomTom and Garmin XT installed on my Diamond at the moment, and yes they would do the job just fine, except that in both software, it takes ages to mark a point. Imagine getting out of the car, then standing there for a minute or two trying to mark a point in the software indicating where your car is! (ok maybe not that long, but you know what I mean).
